Denver’s Best Spots to Support on Game Day | Eater

"Sports fans can celebrate their team at this Cherry Creek pub or take orders to go and enjoy them at home. Chopper’s is all about sports, great friends, and good drinks — just as it has been since late founder and former Denver Nuggets trainer Robert “Chopper” Traviglini opened the pub in 1996." - Vox Creative

We liked this neighborhood sports bar. There were plenty of seating and tvs around, the staff were lovely, and the food was amazing! Get their bison burger with avocado and fries and you’re all good. The fries and burgers were just magnificent! We liked their chips with guacamole and salsa as well. We watched some hockey and we had a fun time at this sports bar. Highly recommend!

Wonderful outdoor patio! We had a Meatlovers Flatbread. It was fabulous! Raj was awesome and made sure everything was perfect!!

I want to give this place 5/5☆'s but I wasn't able to join the Ravens watch party in the back & it's a Ravens Flock Bar. I checked the day before the game & wasn't informed of need to RSVP, so during the playoffs, please RSVP! Evan, however, is an excellent bartender, I can't stress this enough! Ask for this guy if you want a superior experience & check the photo to RSVP to watch the Ravens win in the back room. Thanks Evan!!!

Stopped in here to catch the last of the college football national championship. They also had the Av's game on. So many TV's. Really not a bad seat in the house. Service was also fast and friendly. We ordered some beers, buffalo wings, and the nachos al pastor. Wings were good, nachos so-so. Overall the food wasn't anything to write home about, but let's be honest, you're going here to watch a game, and for that this place excels.

Google
I recently visited Chopper Sports Grill and was immensely impressed with my experience. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. I ordered their renowned wings and fries, paired with some refreshing drinks, and I was completely satisfied with the quality and taste. The wings were perfectly crispy with just the right amount of spice, and the fries were golden and delightful. The service was excellent, with staff being attentive and friendly without being intrusive. They ensured that we had everything we needed and even made some great recommendations from the menu. Overall, I highly recommend Chopper Sports Grill to anyone looking for a great place to enjoy some sports, delicious food, and fantastic service. I'll definitely be returning soon!

Google
Cool spot! Lots of tvs! Like that you can buy the jalapeño poppers by the piece. The smoked wings had decent flavor. Coors light pitchers were like $17-$18 which is a lil high compared to other spots and a few drinks we ordered came out wrong but they were quickly corrected. And our server was very attentive.

Ahhhh, I used to love this place and food, last two times my order salads were soooo gross I asked to grill my chicken 🐔 well, and got it half raw, the smell made me sick! I went in second time just gave raw chicken back! working near by and didn’t have time to go back and forth! Byuuuuuu

I am not a sports bar kind of guy, but I do like hamburgers and fries. A good friend therefore recommended Choppers, and so one afternoon my wife and I stopped in. This was before the evening rush started, and the large dining room area was mostly empty. It was overly warm - perhaps the ac was on the fritz? I was amazed at all the large televisions - there were more TVs, and much bigger TVs, than I'd ever seen in a restaurant before. Our server was friendly, and joked about Choppers having a friendly competition with the Cherry Cricket. But now we come to what counts: the burgers. They were large, larger than I expected - hmm, kind of like the TVs! - and very good. Better than I expected! The fries were a bit average. The ketchup and mustard bottles at our table were nearly empty, requiring us to steal condiments from the next table. But the burgers, those very large burgers, mostly made up for these minor inconveniences. My friend tells me the other sandwiches there are also quite good.

Yelp
My friend and I went for the avalanche game on Saturday night and we had a great time. We showed up about an hour before the game and the bar started to fill-in as it was closer to game time. We had a great server who kept checking on us and making sure that we had everything we needed. We had the nachos and the Philly eggrolls, which both were delicious. The nachos were good and I enjoyed the fact that each chip was a separate nacho and not just a pile of tortilla chips and cheese or some tortilla chips. Don't get cheese. But each chip was its own nacho complete with salsa, sour cream, and you have the option to add guacamole. The Philly eggrolls were delicious and there was a little cheese sauce to dip them in which chefs kiss. We came because we heard that they like the siren when the Avs score the little red bell box on the top of the ceiling in the middle of the bar. Turns out it's broken and it short circuits every time they turn on so instead, they just do a siren noise which was much less exciting But still something compared to other bars.

Yelp
When it is Football season Choppers is a buzz with fans from several teams. Solid drinks....good Moscow Mule.. Food is fine and typical bar fare....great tatter tots....okay spicy chicken sandwich....kind of a costco breaded patty heated up. You come here for the ambiance mostly and the friendly service
google avatar

Megan H.

Yelp
Food and drinks were excellent. Service was really, really slow, but I bet it was hard to staff up on a holiday weekend.
google avatar

Yelp
After moving from Chicago where my dog was a regular at the bar underneath my building, we were looking for a new casual spot--and Chopper's is exactly that. Great beer, solid food, and a relaxed vibe for watching games. The menu has changed recently so some of the items I loved are no longer there or have a different recipe, BUT I'm a huge fan of the new shoestring fries. Even with the changes, it's become a regular spot for us!

Yelp
I was in town for work and our office is across the street so i came here two days in a row. Honestly it was a great lunch and would much prefer this over getting fast food. I got the Cherry creek salad both days because it was so good. Also waitresses both days were great and attentive. Love this place and will definitely be back when i come back to Denver. Also looks like a great place to come for a broncos/aves/rockies game, tons of TVs

Yelp
A great neighborhood bar. Always rowdy. Service is good. Might be slightly delayed on busy game days. Amazing deals and food is great for bar food. Wings are great burgers and flatbread is delicious. Best bar in cherry creek / Glendale in my opinion Amazing BOGO happy hour I believe it's 4:30-6pm

Yelp
Horrific service Food 2/10 Incredibly dirty bathrooms Water glass? Thank you but I already have lipstick on
google avatar

JaNiece C.

Yelp
Fast, friendly service for a crowded football watch "party". The food was okay. Had wings and tots but didn't think to take a pic. The wings were just okay, and I'll never order them again though. The tots and ranch were delicious though.

Yelp
When I went to Choppers, I was subjected to poor waiting times and was told by a manager to leave for no reason. I experienced racism and would not go back
google avatar

Yelp
Lame nachos which was 3 premade tostada's cut into quarters. Large guacamole which was 2 tablespoons was an extra $5.00. Are Trumps Mexico tariffs in place already? Hash tag not coming back. Deducted cost from

Yelp
Not that excited about the new menu. They removed several dishes I ordered regularly. Of the new things I've tried, the bison chili was the best. Also, one of their best things was the onion rings that came atop the jalapeno cream cheese burger. Without those it is just an OK burger. Not sure why they have the hate for onion rings, those would be the best side they would have if they offered them as a side. The DJ during NFL games is also pretty annoying, they play the music way too loud and you cannot have a conversation during the commercials which is one of the best things about watching games with your friends.
google avatar

scott c.

Yelp
Texas game, Lord, that place was hopping! I ended up sitting outside as I was playing music in a park two blocks away and just needed some food before the gig. I got very lucky and found a place not near a TV! Service was slow but it was expected however, I explained I needed to eat quickly. I ordered sone hot wings and tots. Simple. Wings were crispy and tasty, tots were good and not greasy. Overall, a nice sports bar in a neighborhood. Server took good care of me overall. I'd recommend.
google avatar

Christopher P.

Yelp
Good food, good service but annoyingly loud rap music at a sports bar, why?? Hard to watch football which is why i come here!

L S.

Yelp
A big scoop of Nana's Coleslaw is served on the Pastrami Sandwich. It was so good I ate it first. Real Thousand Island dressing - recommend ordering on the side to truly appreciate it's chonky homemade goodness.

Yelp
Chopper's Sports Bar is a solid spot if you're into wings and catching a game. Their wings are really good, and it's a great place to grab a couple of beers while watching sports. The only downside is the service--it's always hit or miss. The food is pretty good, but one of my favorite wing spots for sure.
google avatar

Tyler S.

Yelp
The food was awesome our server Taylor gave my daughter & I great recommendations as well as excellent customer service. My daughter really enjoyed the spicy mojito, please keep in mind it IS spicy. They have a strong beer selection. Choppers gives very generous portions in terms of food. We left very full. The bison burger was extremely delicious. My daughter had the buckmaster wrap, generous portions.LOTS of southern hospitality. We felt right at home being from Texas.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
We watch many games at Choppers. It's a great spot for drink and food specials and it's always a great Colorado local crowd! Don't miss the Philly egg rolls.

Jill C.

Yelp
Choppers has always been our go to for sports but something has changed, management and/or the owners. The food has really gone downhill, they used to have the best wings, now they are tiny and overcooked. The chicken fingers were overcooked, sauces were so watered down that it would not stick to anything and the burgers tasted and looked like they came out of a package. the atmosphere is still good but the food is now awful and expensive.

Yelp
Well we came to grab brunch and watch football. Parking was very difficult to find as there were no parking signs everywhere. We ended up having to sit outside with no view of a TV. Ordered bloody marys which were probably the worst bloody marys I've ever had and it took 30min to get them- very watery and no goodies in them at all. I got a breakfast burrito which was the weirdest I've ever had- smothered in beans and cheese, some eggs and bacon inside but mostly filled with French fries and tater tots. It was a big greasy mess. I guess the menu should have said smothered breakfast burrito since it was not what I envisioned for brunch.

Yelp
Found them using our Pub Pass - never would have gone there otherwise. Pub Pass is a BOGO beer. We find alot of new and fun places this way that we revisit. Bartender told us they weren't honoring it anymore but agreed to do it "just this once". Our view is that you are using the App as a marketing tool - if you don't want to be on it anymore, just cancel out of it. But if you advertise it, you need to honor it. So we didn't feel like she was doing us a favor- honestly just honoring a legal obligation. So we got off on a bad foot. We actually planned to also buy food but the bartender never asked us or offered a menu so we skipped it. Wanted to see how it played out. She could have made more money by being congenial and welcoming us but she copped an attitude she wrote us off - for one beer. We would have easily spent $50+tip but nope, you're asking for a free beer (which we advertised) so now you suck... We paid for one beer + tip and would never go back. Customer service means alot.

Andrea P.

Yelp
This is a sports bar that plays loud music during games. It's distracting and annoying. Several customers commented and the feedback was not received with an open, customer-friendly approach.
google avatar

Azure G.

Yelp
Unfortunately I can't say Choppers is our cup of key, though the proximity to our apartment complex is pretty nice. If you want to catch a game with friends and some beers, it's a good spot, but for good quality food it's not a place I would recommend. My husband and I both felt crummy after eating here, but as I said, it's not our style. Also way too many televisions. I understand it's a sports bar and that's who they cater to, but having a small corner without being slammed by visual stimuli would be appreciated.

Andrew C.

Yelp
Good place to watch a game, feels like home. If you came to Aurora to play Ultimate. This is worth the trip.

Yelp
My friend told me to meet him for lunch at Choppers. When I arrived I realized it was formerly Rick's Cafe from way back in the day when I lived in Denver. It's now a great sports bar. I'm sure it's been around for a while. I don't live in Denver anymore so I'm out of the loop. I love the setup Nice and open. Screens everywhere with some kind of sporting activity going on. You can sit anywhere and have a screen to view. There are booths on the side and tables aplenty in the middle. You seat yourself. I was there on a Saturday afternoon in December for lunch. It wasn't crowded at all, but I'm sure it's a pretty popular place to hang out during Bronco games and other major sporting events. The server was very friendly, efficient, and personable. Well done! For food, I had the fried chicken sandwich. $10.50, and a side of homemade potato chips. $3. Yah, it's all ala carte. The chicken itself tasted great but the bun was cold and a bit soggy. Bummer. It would have been off the charts awesome if they at least heated the bun a bit. Too bad so many places have great things between the buns but the buns fall short. Hardly anyone gets the bun part right. I'll never know why but I'll keep mentioning it in my Yelp reviews until it becomes a thing everyone expects when they order a dang sandwich!! That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! They make their own potato chips and they are a must-try! To me, they are perfect. Just enough salt. So good! It was $45 plus tip for lunch for two people. No alcohol, just Arnold Palmers (which they do well). No parking lot but street parking was surprisingly plentiful and easy.

Veronica G.

Yelp
Came to choppers after a two month hiatus to find out my favorite bartender Maddie isn't working anymore, she was the best most attentive bartender I've ever met and I'm truly devastated that she was let go. I will NOT be returning due to her absence

Annabeth H.

Yelp
So disappointing--the local spot has been destroyed by its acquisition by the Tavern Restaurants. The flatbread was disgusting--who ruins pizza? Anybody can at least make an acceptable pizza, but not the Tavern. Lovely service and good sports viewing, but not enough to compensate for awful food. So sad this place is ruined
google avatar

Malori H.

Yelp
My friends and I all loved this place. We wanted something casual with TVs thinking the food would be mediocre but we're pleasantly surprised with the turn out. We got the queso, club sandwich (minus the cranberry added Mayo) and the chicken Caesar wrap. Our waiter maintained great service even though he was slammed. The environment and food was great I'd highly recommend going here.

Yelp
We came here to watch the first broncos game of the season. We completely expected it to be packed, but we were willing to wait. Thankfully we got the last open table on the patio. Our waitress came over rather quickly to get our drink orders. We ended up switching tables for a better view of the game - but kept an eye out for our drinks/waitress to let them know. About 20 minutes later she came back and realized we hadn't gotten our 2 beers and 1 mixed drink. We then asked to order food. We asked for onion rings, and she said with a horrible attitude "we don't have onion rings", to which we thought she was kidding because of how rude she was. So we said "oh! No onion rings" and she replies (now yelling) "we don't have onion rings!!" My friend then apologized to her saying "sorry if that came off crappy, I was just confused." Our waitress said nothing and then kept receiving our order. Another 35 minutes go by and we still haven't received our drinks. My friend and I then went inside to check at the bar to see the status, or if they were even put in. (I feel like waiting 55 minutes is a long enough time - we were being extremely patient). We approach this really nice waitress and we just explained that it'd been 55 minutes - but we were understanding of how busy they were. She was extremely kind and apologized. She then went to check. Our patio waitress then comes out from the kitchen, sees us, and gives us a disgusted look. The nice waitress asked her about our drinks in which she replied (VERY audibly) "they are coming up, they can fucking wait!" The nice waitress apologized again, and we then told her how rude she's been to us. She said she'd let her manager know, and was very nice about it. A few minutes later, we are sitting at our table waiting for drinks. The waitress slams down our drinks - no apology, says nothing. My boyfriend then gets up and says, "I've had enough we aren't going to be treated like this" As we are leaving she asks "So you want me to cancel your tab?" To which I reply "absolutely, you're incredibly rude" This waitress never once smiled, never apologized, and was completely inattentive. Although her partner and children were on the patio and she wasn't afraid to come out and kiss all over her partner while ignoring her tables. I understand that it was busy, but in no place should you cuss at your customers. This behavior is incredibly unacceptable, and we will absolutely never return. Do NOT waste you time or spend your money here, unless you want to wait an hour for a beer and be cussed at!

Joe M.

Yelp
The loudest sports bar I've ever been to. The TV was turned up to 11. There's no way you can talk. I was not expecting a great meal and I wasn't disappointed. They managed to screw up my wife's burger, fries. My wings and salad were barely edible. This place needs Restaurant Rescue!!!!

T K.

Yelp
Food was basic bar food. Service was as good as can be expected on a packed night.....we were there for Nuggets-TWolves on Friday. The place was absolutely rocking. Great place to watch a game.
google avatar

Dana W.

Yelp
Always have had a good time here. Food is delicious, sports surround you and the happy hour is pretty good but one get one of certain drafts from 4-6 or 1.00 off. Happy hour also starts again at 10 or 11 so you can't go wrong with that if your ready to PAR-TAY. Parking is never an issue abs service has always been stellar here. Definitely will come back again and again and again!
google avatar

Miranda E.

Yelp
We came here late one night and got some wings and tater tots. Pretty good! It was surprisingly not busy on a Friday night but it was probably because the kitchen was almost closed.
google avatar

Curtis S.

Yelp
It's a pretty good sports bar vibe. Good wholesome American cuisine and relaxing environment. It's not a place just for sports fanatics with all the large tvs to view several types of sports on any givin day but also a great place to come and just chill and vibe out alone or with a new friend. For dinner I had the bison burger which was pretty good. My recommendation would be to have some type of signature sauce to add to it. Nothing too sting but just something a little tangy that would give the meat a little more kick.
google avatar

John D.

Yelp
Came in for my first time. No greeting at the door. Found a server and he said we could sit wherever we liked. We found a cozy booth. We then scanned to bring up a menu. The service was good. We ordered a flatbread with tomatoes, garlic mashed potatoes with cheese, and a veggie burger with pepper Jack cheese. This may sound strange... but my second favorite item was the side of ranch. The first was the flatbread pizza. I look forward to enjoying another evening inside this establishment. I asked if they ever host UFC events and was told possibly not because of fights breaking out with guests. That's a shame because I would enjoy dining in during some UFC events in the near future. The prices are fair to high. Beautiful environment with a cabin vibe. Great place to watch sporting games. We will be back for more in the future.
google avatar

Paige M.

Yelp
Service phenomenal. Food great. 100/10 overall. Great sports bar! We love it here. Good bar for a small part of cherry creek.

Yelp
As a neighbor, I made a complaint to Manager Alexis regarding the condition of their yard ...full of weeds, trash, hanging wire from roof, totally unkept. To my surprise and complete gratitude, she and her crew did a fantastic job on entire yard cleaning everything!! I love Choppers and go there a lot. I am so impressed with the speediness that Alexis got right to it. Thank you, Neighbor. I will tell everyone.
google avatar

Yelp
Let me start of by saying that our server was very nice and was working very hard. With that being said I'm very disappointed with my experience at Choppers. I closed my tab and tipped our sever 20%.. I attempted to help clean our table and before I know it I'm getting harassed by a women who is apparently an employee at the restaurant screaming at me for leaving a bad tip which is absolutely ridiculous considering it was a 20% tip. She was completely out of line and should probably do her research before harassing a person who actually was taking care of their servers. I will never return to this establishment cause apparently my 20% tip isn't good enough. It's a shame cause I was having a good experience and would have been more then happy to come back to this business, not anymore.
google avatar

Mike E.

Yelp
My wife and I have been coming to Chopper's for years. I'm not sure what's going on with this place. Last night June 2nd no TV's and the service was just simply bad....a waitress dropped off menus and then never came back....we finally walked out after about 15 minutes. Last night the place wasn't really that busy plus no tv's I'm not sure why we couldn't get waited on. The place appeared to have plenty of staff and a ton of staff members just standing around. Oh well not sure we'd try Choppers again.

Candid Customer ..

Yelp
I don't get all the bad reviews. We had a great meal and great service. I got the BLAT which was great. My son got a quesadilla which he said was really good too. We came to watch football . They have TVs everywhere and a great atmosphere. We'll definitely be back. Two thumbs up!
google avatar

Catherine A.

Yelp
Chopper's is a staple sports bar in a sports bar-less Cherry Creek. On Broncos game days, you definitely want to arrive early to ensure you can find a seat. Same rule applies for any championship game as loyal fans will trek from all over to watch their team on one of the many (read, over 20) TVs. If you don't see the game you're looking for, just ask and they'll happily change a channel for you. There is a an outdoor patio which is split in half by a gate - the first part near the entrance is dog friendly if you want to bring your poochie. As far as sports bars go, this joint has a surprisingly tasty menu. If you want to get away from your bar food staples, try one of their gourmet salads. I prefer the Cherry Creek Cougar with crispy chicken on top. This salad is bright with their light vinaigrette dressing, cranberries and goat cheese crumbles. I love to start with the Dip City as there is a little something for everyone: salsa, guacamole, queso, and spinach artichoke dip. The spinach artichoke dip despite being served in the largest dish is always the first to go. They have drink specials throughout the week, but we love the BOGO domestic beers before 6pm on weekdays. You should check out their intense trivia game on tuesdays. I LOVE that it's not Geeks Who Drink, but does have competitions with other affiliated bars across town- the trivia season is 9 weeks, and you can watch your score amongst Choppers and other bars throughout the season. Trivia starts around 7:30, but I always recommend being there around 7:15pm. There is a back space which I'm sure you could rent for a private event, but is mostly used as overflow on major game days. I don't recommend sitting back there if you want service. Which leads me to my one star ding: service. If you're there at a slow hour, you'll be seen quickly, but it seems as soon as more than 5 tables sit down your server might disappear for up to 20 minutes at a time. Be sure to be clear with your server if you're on any sort of time frame. I have noticed some turnover of staff over the last year, which I'm sure leads to some growing pains, but this is one area that desperately needs improvement. Overall, Choppers is my go-to for trivia, sports games, and a delicious bite when I don't feel like cooking.

Brad W.

Yelp
Stopped in here for a quick beer and to watch the end of the Cardinals game. The menu was not too impressive and they don't offer Bud Light. Otherwise, they have enough television sets to watch all the games and also a unique location in a local neighborhood.

Yelp
We came here during a big football game, and despite the room being bombarded with people cheering and yelling at the screens, our waitress remained sweet and attentive which can be rare on a normal non-sports day! I was extremely impressed with her determination to give us a good service! The food itself was fantastic. One of the best bar foods I've ever tasted. This stems from the philly cheesesteak egg rolls. The combination is so wonderful I'd come back just to eat that again. The nachos were also pretty good too. They're not the stale nachos that break into a thousand of heartbreaking pieces when you pick one up. The toppings were also very generous in portions which seems to be rare these days. I was going to order the mac and cheese skillet because it looked super good when a lady ordered it at a different table, but I decided to treat my stomach well from eating all those cheesy appetizers by ordering a Buckmaster Salad. It was so flavorful for a salad and so huge in size that I couldn't finish. Even as soggy leftovers it was still pretty yummy, haha. I would love to come back in the future! Too many good food to try!

Danette L.

Yelp
Ava was amazing. She worked her butt off and took care of her business! Such a great time, that gal deserves a raise!

Becca M.

Yelp
I'm here for March madness, it's crazy busy but the bartender Owen is doing an amazing job! He is super attentive and efficient even though it's crazy busy! Also love that they are playing the Aves too!

Yelp
I want to like this place but it's disappointed me too many times. First off, I've been here a total of three times over two years. And every time I do come The men's bathroom is disgusting. This time toilet paper everywhere, piss all over the floor. No paper towels left to wash your hand with. They did re do the tiles recently. Overall this place has the feel of a bar from the late 90s where FiDi bros come in to watch the game and get a little too aggressive on their way to the Friday bbq over at Chad's house. Very dark inside...who still has shutters on windows? TVs everywhere and food left on tables, I think staffing is a problem, I've seen three waiters total for a Friday happy hour where it's going to get bananas real soon
google avatar

Emma J.

Yelp
I guess this is apparently a Ravens bar, but we went to watch the Patriots game last weekend, which was conveniently the game being shown on the largest screen. They seem to be doing a good job of abiding by social distancing even during football season, and turning people away when they couldn't be appropriately seated 6 feet away from others. That being said, if you're planning to watch football, you need to get there early to ensure you get a table. We got there at 10:35am for our 11am game and had no problem getting a table with a good view. Under each TV they have stickers of what game will be shown on that TV. The service was quick and attentive. We go the cheese flatbread, boneless wings special, bone-in wings, and mac and cheese in addition to bloody mary's and mimosas. The mimosas were good, but the bloody mary tasted mainly like tomato juice and had no spice element to it. The boneless wings were good, and a good deal, it was $7 for 12, whereas the regular wings we only got 7 for $13 which was a bit of a bummer. The flat bread and mac and cheese were both good, and the mac and cheese was a really good portion size.

Yelp
Choppers always goes hard. A great family restaurant and is enjoyable for all ages. It's also fun to watch football and drink there. Would recommend for a casual outing. Jalapeño poppers are super hot, and the beer is ice cold.

Emily D.

Yelp
Sam and Reid were my servers and they were absolutely incredible. Not only did they bring my food on time they were so fun and happy to serve us. BEST PEOPLE EVER!

Yelp
This place can be summed up in one sentence: Dozens of TVs and cheap beer makes a great Sunday Funday! We came here for one heck of a Sunday Funday to watch a little football. The whole bar is surrounded by 20 or so TVs so you can watch several games at one time. Plenty of seating options with enough room so you aren't feeling packed in. The beer special was $10 for pitchers of budlight and coors light. Waitress came around often enough that you were never left empty handed without a beer. The food is your typical American Restaurant type food, we got the cobb salad and the pulled pork sandwhich. Both entrees were around $10 and you got a decent portion (kickin' myself for not getting a picture of the pulled pork- it was MASSIVE). Overall a great spot to get together with friends to watch some football. I'd suggest getting here a little early because the place does get packed for Broncos games!
