Chopper's is a staple sports bar in a sports bar-less Cherry Creek. On Broncos game days, you definitely want to arrive early to ensure you can find a seat. Same rule applies for any championship game as loyal fans will trek from all over to watch their team on one of the many (read, over 20) TVs. If you don't see the game you're looking for, just ask and they'll happily change a channel for you. There is a an outdoor patio which is split in half by a gate - the first part near the entrance is dog friendly if you want to bring your poochie.
As far as sports bars go, this joint has a surprisingly tasty menu. If you want to get away from your bar food staples, try one of their gourmet salads. I prefer the Cherry Creek Cougar with crispy chicken on top. This salad is bright with their light vinaigrette dressing, cranberries and goat cheese crumbles. I love to start with the Dip City as there is a little something for everyone: salsa, guacamole, queso, and spinach artichoke dip. The spinach artichoke dip despite being served in the largest dish is always the first to go.
They have drink specials throughout the week, but we love the BOGO domestic beers before 6pm on weekdays.
You should check out their intense trivia game on tuesdays. I LOVE that it's not Geeks Who Drink, but does have competitions with other affiliated bars across town- the trivia season is 9 weeks, and you can watch your score amongst Choppers and other bars throughout the season. Trivia starts around 7:30, but I always recommend being there around 7:15pm.
There is a back space which I'm sure you could rent for a private event, but is mostly used as overflow on major game days. I don't recommend sitting back there if you want service. Which leads me to my one star ding: service. If you're there at a slow hour, you'll be seen quickly, but it seems as soon as more than 5 tables sit down your server might disappear for up to 20 minutes at a time. Be sure to be clear with your server if you're on any sort of time frame. I have noticed some turnover of staff over the last year, which I'm sure leads to some growing pains, but this is one area that desperately needs improvement.
Overall, Choppers is my go-to for trivia, sports games, and a delicious bite when I don't feel like cooking.
