Fun bar that hosts Emo Kareoke nights the first Wednesday of every month and its our fav night to go out to sing! Good crowd, no cover fee.

We had their sweet and sour chicken and it was actually really good. The rice was fresh and fluffy and the chicken was crispy and covered in a delicious, sweet and sour sauce. Karaoke was very fun. Operation of the karaoke unit was very professional and the audio was a spot on. No distortion and you could actually hear people sing. The song selection was, of course great and the ambiance and drinks were on par with what you'd expect on a popular bar in Portland. This is a great place to meet with some friends sing some songs. Have some good food and drink some too.

(take with a large grain of salt, I went on a Saturday night to a dive bar to participate in karaoke during dry January, part of this is on me, would be way more fun with a beverage or two or five) There were multiple groups here on the night I went, which was so fun! Lots of birthdays and everyone got shout outs on karaoke. The DJ had lots of people around him, and had to balance a lot, hats off to them! The service at the bar was quick and friendly.

KJ Alfredo has a serious attitude problem. I arrived at the bar, went up, politely waited until he wasn’t busy, then asked how long the wait was to sing. He rudely said “I don’t know, look at the tickets”. I was so confused and asked again, and he said with a condescending smile “you can see the tickets too”. I’ve done karaoke at many places in many cities all over the world and I have literally never had a KJ be so intentionally rude for no reason in response to one of the most common questions a KJ is asked. Two of my friends said he was also rude to them. One of them asked Alfredo a question and he rudely answered, then loudly said to his friend nearby “I swear, if one more person comes and asks me a question…”. My brother, what do you think your job is? We heard that other groups that night had similar weird experiences with him. At one point, it felt like literally everyone we spoke to at the bar also had a unique experience with him being rude. I was reading other reviews and seems like this is common. Another review said no matter what you do, if you ask, he’ll always say you’re 12 songs down the list….weirdly, that’s exactly what he told my friends too. More than once. Others say that if you want to sing, you NEED to tip him. I guess Alfredo needs to hold the list hostage to make up for all the tips he can’t get on his own? I always told people how great chopsticks is having gone a few times when Alfredo wasn’t there, but its reputation is changing. Bad vibes and blatant unfairness from KJs is unnecessary and not in the spirit of karaoke!

KJ last night Alfredo was very rude to me and my two friends. One who does not drink heavy as she is basically sober cut her off for being too much….shes an introvert I’m surprised she even got up to sing what do you mean she’s too much it’s also karaoke you should put soul into it!!! Was rude to my date and made a comment about his intelligence because the ‘Z’ looked like a 2 on his slip. Annoyed with me because I forgot to put my name down I understand I made a mistake but you can be kind about it. Unreal behavior I usually have a great time when the KJ is the sweet pal with the dreads. There’s no need to make the karaoke vibes bad.

Saturday night 11/01, my friend and I decided to go to chopsticks right after they opened, and treat ourselves to some karaoke. I will preface the rest of my review by saying the bartending staff, doorman, and the other patrons were awesome. Very groovy folk, you can feel that they hold the vibes in this place together. When the first singer went up, the mixing of the sound was not doing well, the speakers cracking and popping like mad but I figured, hey, they have an extensive song list, and they had some new songs I wasn’t expecting to be on karaoke yet which was a lot of fun— I am reviewing 3 stars for the bizarre inconsistency of the KJ who was there last night. They got snippy with my friend for forgetting to put her name on her first karaoke slip (fair enough, we apologized and kept going), and then an hour later when our friend came to sing with us, he snapped at him too for how he wrote his name on the card. On my last venture up to the stage I tried to ask a question about the mic and I was a bit confused, but the KJ got very aggressive with me very fast, snapping that “the mic is FINE. It WORKS. Yeah. This is your LAST song.” … alrighty… i have been here three hours, and I had literally two Jell-O shots (bartender admitted they were pretty weak which is why I picked them, I’m not a big drinker) and a redbull and that was it. So that’s all three different people of my group he snapped at, two of which before they had even sung. I don’t understand how they did anything deserving of that much irritation. This was the beginning of the night, we were some of the less than a dozen people there. I want to say he was probably just having a bad night. The world sucks right now and we all are looking for a space to be able to Be, and not feel threatened. I don’t know why he felt the need to vibe check people multiple times last night, but it left such an uncomfortable confusion in my head that I don’t want to come sing there again. I just want to ask 11/01’s KJ to please be have patience with your customers. We didn’t want to ruin your night! We just wanted to sing. Your rules are written on sticky notes/signs that are not congregated in one clear space! You can only see them when you’re right next to the sound booth, and the sound is LOUD. I could barely hear myself sing. It’s a dark, loud bar. So it very much was like, damn, I’m sorry we had a bit of cluelessness. I have done customer service my whole life and I know how exhausting it is. But well meaning customers who aren’t being demanding? Why yell at them? he seemed determined to rain on our parade. I don’t get it. And he sang beautifully too the couple of songs he put in before it got busy, so I REALLY don’t get it. I thought the night was fun but these interactions got to me. At the karaoke bars I have been to before, I always tipped the KJ one big old tip before I left for the night. Was he mad we hadn’t tipped yet? I don’t know. But I don’t think a good karaoke night should make you genuinely wonder if you just spit in the kj’s cereal without realizing.

I really had an awesome time the dj was busy but I got to sing!! The dancing was really fun while people sang!! It only got 1 star less because the lady bartender with tattoos picked some other guy to serve when I was there first which wasn't cool...I'll never order from her.. but great place, awesome atmosphere, will definitely come back again!!

Emo night is a complete elder emo sanctuary. I absolutely love this bar. They have a good drink selection including sours & some great CBD drink options. Emo karaoke night is everything an emo would hope it to be. xD Great place to have good time with good people! I heard so many great singers here!

I love this place but every time Alfredo is ithe KJ he yells at customers and is rude in general. It seems like he just doesn't enjoy his job. It's a shame because Portland has a lot of really good and respectful and fun kjs but he is not one of them. There's always mic feedback too when he's the KJ which just shouldn't happen as often as it does. The food is okay for what it is but I typically eat beforehand. Great place for a bigger group as there is a lot of space so in that regard I keep coming back... but I try not to go when Alfredo is working.

Big place. Great for a loud & rowdy crowd. Plenty of things to do. I appreciated the late night food, which I'm told is a legal requirement in Portland? I'm used to all the kitchens closing by like 9/10pm in Albuquerque. Then you're left with food trucks only. Food is simple frozen/deep fried stuff, but definitely didn't suck, it was decent tasty bar offerings. Fun place overall, the vending machine is a riot.

This place is so fun! Went here for a friends karaoke birthday and had a great time. Good drinks, fun ambience, fast service, and the pool tables and patio area were a nice addition. We will be back!

I was looking forward to attending emo karaoke for months. I was really excited and spent a lot of time getting ready and picking out the songs I wanted to sing. I got to Chopsticks shortly after the event started. I got weird vibes right away, when the bartender snapped at me for accidentally ordering before a couple standing at the bar. The couple even said that they were still deciding and I could order. After I got my drink I sat at the end of a long table to watch people sing. Then the same bartender came over to me and waved a "reserved" table sign in my face that I didn't see when I sat down. Okay, I guess karaoke at a dive bar has VIP seating. I was going to leave because I already didn't feel welcome but decided to just put my name in and sing one song since I made the trip. I put my name in and waited 2 hours for my turn. My name was never called. After sitting alone for 2 hours and having the staff treat me poorly I was over it. I asked the KJ to remove my name from the list and left. I have a feeling that unless you are personal friends with the staff that you won't get the chance to sing. I wasn't keeping track but it seemed other people got to sing ahead of me or even twice while I was there waiting. The whole place was dark, dingy, and just generally uncomfortable. I'm giving 2 stars for it seemingly being a trans accepting space. But this trans person didn't feel welcome at all.

Came in for karaoke and hogged the microphone all night, and drank nothing but diet soda. Would do it again. It was really fun, really welcoming for a trans woman, and I liked the vibe. Sound and monitoring were pretty good too, and a nice KJ.

Came to Chopsticks last night for a friends birthday gathering. Great atmosphere for karaoke and drinks. The KJ was lots of fun and had us laughing all night! Karaoke with a bit of comedy made it all the better. Thanks y'all! We will definitely be back!

Lovveeeee chopsticks!!! They've been an amazing staple of a karaoke place forever. The only downside I have is that their karaoke DJ Al Freeko annoys the hell out of me because he's rude af and will skip peoples' songs or put them at the end even if they tip, are nice to him, etc. I do karaoke all over the city and have never had an issue with the other kjs for karaoke, his vibe just makes it so I have to skip this place on the days he works lol

I've said it before, but this is probably my favorite bar in all of Portland. Sure, there are lots of fancy places with funky themes, sexy mood lighting, gourmet food, and pretentious patrons. Not Chopsticks. This place is may be simple by comparison, but it is also just pure, unadulterated fun! That opening paragraph may seem a bit dismissive or belittling, so I want to be *very* clear that that is not my intent AT ALL. For starters, the Chinese food here is fantastic. The hot and spicy beef is so incredible, even when sober, but gets even better with a few drinks in ya. Everything we've ordered here has been wonderful, so you will have a hard time having a bad time here. When it comes to the bar itself, I like to think of the interior as being a "high class" dive bar. You're not gonna get a good Old Fashioned here (I tried, and they were upfront about it), but any muddled mixed drink is going to be like Henry Cavill: tall and strong. Prices are very reasonable. Our most recent bartender was a trainee, and his teacher not only remembered but also imparted little details to his pupil, such as my wife preferring soda over tonic with her gin, and to include a straw, after a single drink order. That's professionalism and attention to detail. Karaoke is not my jam. And yet, I think I've belted out more off-key tunes here than anywhere else, even my multiple visits to Japan, where it is practically required! The KJs are always friendly and professional, keep things organized and moving at a good clip, and don't clog up the line by interjecting themselves into the mix in a vain attempt to show off. Although they only just reopened after COVID, it looks like utilized the downtime wisely, putting a lot of work into cleaning the place to a sparkling shine, replacing booths and upholstery, tables and chairs, and doing a little bit of in-house renovation. It really shows that they care. While things are still not 100% back to normal (for example, the pool tables and such are still cordoned off, and the food menu seems reduced), they're pretty much back to operating as normal, and that's a very welcome thing! So, in short, Chopsticks has everything going for it: awesome food, inexpensive and strong drinks, fun atmosphere, and above all, a sense of community among the patrons and staff that cannot be replicated by fancy-pants cocktails and pretentious plateware. How can be?! Well, that's the way it should be.

I do love me some karaoke and I did have a rocking good time because I went in with a group of awesome humans, as you should do! The good was the openess of the space - grabbing a seat is super easy, or it was when I went. The sound was great - you really can hear yourself, see the song and do some proper fun karaoke! The food was easy to order and tasted pretty ok. I went for the standard chicken strips and fries which were pretty alright. They also have RC which I am a fan of. The bad and ugly were waiting for my song - did I mention the bar was empty and I still waited well over an hour? BUT, to be fair the KJ does seem to genuinely stick to a rotation. I got there fairly early though and did not even bother to put in a second song like most of our group because I would have been there the rest of the night. AND this was with them being pretty empty so I cannot imagine ever singing on a full bar night. With that said though - this is a great space and if you are drinking and grabbing snacks to hanging out with friends then DO IT!

Based on the reviews and low rating I should have expected my experience to be meh but I didn't realize the negativity would start before I even got out my car. I'm a disabled veteran and happen to have a handicap placard. I pulled into the designated blue space and before I could even really put my car in park and get situated Larry the door man was flashing a light in my window questioning why my placard wasn't up. I rolled down my window and informed him I hadn't even had a chance to pull it out. At one point it felt like he was questioning if I had one. At that point I was frustrated and told him I'd put it up when I wanted and was ready to get out the car. He freaking said, "ok, I'll just have to go tell the boss." Look, I get that folks may sit there or whatever excuse or reason they want to claim, but that is not my issue. If he'd had waiting a moment he'd had been able to see my placard up when I grabbed it from the glove box, put it up, and got out my car. So when I went inside I asked for the boss who he said he was going to go try to snitch on me to. Larry the door man wouldn't go get the boss and told me to go to the bar and ask for them myself. The bar shrugged their shoulders and said they were the bar manager. I guess I'm just frustrated as I don't feel questioning the legitimacy of me being able to part in handicap AND questioning it with some unrealistic and non-legal time limit to rush to put it up. Larry would rather assert his authority than wait a few moments. And threatened to get the boss so that they can what, call the police? Like yea, call the police on a disabled Black veteran because you're too impatient to wait a minute for me to get out the car. Great. Thanks!

We met here for karaoke... but there's a lot more to this place as well. Parking was actually ok. Older location I'd say... but had an indoor area and outdoor. Dat boards, pool tables, bar, kitchen, and karaoke as well as a large dining area sort of sectioned out. Chinese food mainly but also some other things like bar appetizers (cheese sticks etc), burgers, chicken strips, gyros (yep you read that right)... I got cheese sticks and they were good. Cooked properly with crunch and served hot with both ranch and marinara... ok portion for the price...I think it was like 6 for $5ish... I got Egg Drop soup to go. It was not my favorite and I will not order it again. Strange flavor... not much flavor. Just wasnt a fan... I should've tried one of the noodle soups they sounded amazing!! Friends both got stir fries and yheth smelled amazing and both got really high reviews... Full bar. Karaoke was a great time!!! Extremely supportive crowd... amazing feedback for when you're singing but hard for the audience to hear unless you're in the actual karaoke area as the aren't outward facing speakers. Fantastic selection of songs. Great KJ... slips of paper hand write songs down to turn in but computer to review what songs are available with a huge catalog. Starts at 8 on friday and saturday. Got busy around 9:30-10... but sang twice before 10 which is crazy... I will definitely be back.

The place is very friendly and the karaoke is always flowing until the very end. I was happy with my drinks. My group actually closed the place down which was fun and they weren't rude as we made our way out.

THIS BAR IS NOT SAFE FOR WOMEN. A couple weeks ago I was sexually harassed by the bartender and a customer. After leaving, my boyfriend called to report the incident. He spoke to the manager on duty and was told they take these things very seriously and that they would take care of it and call him back. They never called back. If you want to be sexually harassed, utterly humiliated, and made to feel less than human, then by all means, this is the place to go. Just to drive my point home one more time... THIS BAR DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY AND WELLBEING OF THEIR PATRONS.

This used to be my favorite karaoke club, and I have been encouraging my friends to come out here for the past three weekends. However, last night was an awful experience at where my friend and I arrived on time, put in our songs at 9:15-20, tipped our KJ, ordered drinks, and sat back to catch up. It wasn't crowded for a Saturday at this point, so we were stoked. About two hours later, we're feeling weird because we have now seen people that arrived after us singing for a second and third time. I went up to Derek, the KJ, and tried to be as polite as possible (I hate nagging KJ's, or anyone at all) by writing my question on a piece of paper- "when are our songs on the list?," so as to not yell over singers. He said he appreciated what I did, told me I had 6 songs, and seemed very polite. I tipped him more money via venmo without putting in another request, and sat back down. TWO MORE HOURS WENT BY. I am a patient person, but I even asked the bouncer what is going on. My ride got me at 1 am (as agreed), and I had to walk out of a karaoke club after almost four hours of waiting just for nothing. We waited in suspense for our turns and supported the singers that kept getting to go ahead of us. I felt very left out, and felt like I wasted my time and money on drinks. I can't afford to buy the KJ drinks (as the birthday partygoers suggested to me, because one, Jackie, told me that's how they were singing multiple songs), also I thought that was illegal if you're working. I also can't afford to keep tipping a KJ that ignores me and my friend literally all night. I feel stupid for being the one to try waiting it out all night just to be proven wrong.

First let me say that it pains me to write this. I've had some enjoyable experiences at both the Chopsticks on Columbia and the Sandy location. This review is specifically about the night of February 24, 2018 at the Sandy location. There were about 60 plus singers here on this night. I arrived at about 9:30pm with some friends and we all put songs in to sing. We were enjoying ourselves when we noticed around 11:30pm that some of the people in our group had not been called up to sing and some had sung twice. It was then we realized that all of singers who had sung were white. Not one person of color (African American, Hispanic, or Asian) had been asked to sing. We discussed it amongst ourselves and with other people of color in the bar and they too were wondering why they had not been called up to sing. A few of us (both white and POC) asked the host when our songs were coming up. Some of the POC were told that their song slips were not in the rotation or that because there were so many singers that they should be patient and wait their turn. However the white singers who asked about their songs were called up within the next 15 minutes. We didn't stay any longer than that. When we told the host we were leaving, he was unapologetic and wished us an insincere good night. I'm holding onto hope that this was an unfortunate coincidence and not a thinly disguised effort to make us feel unwelcome. Understandably, I will not be returning to Chopsticks and I cannot in good conscience recommend this as a safe or welcoming place for POC.

They didn't give me some of the food I was charged for. I couldn't come back. I asked for a refund for the item I didn't get. The Owner was rude as hell on the phone when I called... Told me to come get free food next time. "I don't know how to refund one item" Just go somewhere else. The food isn't special. The owner is an absolute gremlin.

Be prepared to wait at least 2 hours if you aren't a regular. That's crap. Any KJ worth their expertise will introduce new singers into the mix better than this. Super lame. Boo to you KJ tonight. Ended up leaving after waiting 1 1/2 hours without even one person in our party of 5 to be called up. It was well after midnight too, so the crowd had thinned out. I talked to the manager and he was cool. Props to him.

The "How can be?" spirit of the venerable, soon-to-be-razed Chopsticks II: Stargate Lounge lives on in its new incarnation, a stone's throw away on a rapidly-gentrifying stretch of NE Sandy Blvd. Gone are the years of accumulated grit and grime that gave the original location that "lived-in" feel, here to stay are the excellent staff and karaoke regulars that made Chopsticks II a home-away-from-home for so many endearing oddballs, misfits, weirdos, and ne'er-do-wells. The food is also the same as before (it's really not that bad) and the sound system and lighting set-up are actually IMPROVED. Best of all, location is larger and song rotation is shorter, so people with lots of friends (not me) and microphone hogs (me) alike will find much to rejoice about in the new Chopsticks. 6/5

Tried it the first time about a week ago. Not ever planning on going back. The reputation and encouragement from friends had me going in there on a lark and I wish I could go back and remake that decision. Look, I get it. This is not the first karaoke dive I've ever been to. I don't expect precision and I don't expect flawless. We arrived at about 11:30 PM, which is a bit late for this place, I understand that too. It's popular and was mobbed when we got there. Not everyone can get there before the rush. I expected to sing exactly once. I waited three hours and wasn't called for at all, even when I expected to hear my name as the bar emptied out and person after person didn't answer their call to come up to the mike. Not long before the last song was called, my date was called up, but an odd thing happened. The person whose turn it was, apparently, before my date, was called three times and didn't answer. KJ called my date up: we heard her name unmistakably. As she was walking up to the mike, she was most of the way there, and "Josh" all of a sudden produced himself, and he was given the mike. Awkward. But after he sang, was she called? No. Two more were called before she was. What happened to her turn? And, by the time closing time came into view, the bar had become remarkably emptied out. What happened to mine? We did order food. I had the "General Chicken" which was featured on the menu with a $0.50 up charge (but it wasn't clear what the charge was for), which came with a side of fried rice. It was adequate, and the only part of the legendary experience I really enjoyed. Like I said, I understand popular karaoke bars and I came in expecting a wait. I don't think waiting three hours for close and then not getting called is reasonable; it's a shabby way to treat a new customer. All I expected was one chance at the mike. Without it, it was an average Chinese meal in an over-crowded, too-noisy restaurant. Those of you who like it, that's cool, that's your groove, keep going back. More power to you. Me, I won't be there again, and I won't recommend anyone else. Sorry about that.

I've been here twice. First time was a cool experience, pretty much had the place to ourselves because it was a week night. The second time (most recent, Friday night) it was PACKED! We found a table and maybe a minute later Kim greeted us and asked for our order. She was an amazing server. SO much so that I asked for her name and am writing this review. Visiting places like this (especially karaoke places) I never expect anything spectacular or any undivided attention but Kim really went above and beyond. Anyway, my visit here was great. Karaoke was awesome. But it's rare to find such awesome service on this kind of an environment, so thank you Kim!!

I love this place. Yes, it's a funky dive... but it's fun, the food is decent and the staff is usually pretty nice, unless they are terribly understaffed. I come here for Karaoke. The KJs are pretty cool and fair as far as getting everyone in. And the sound system is pretty decent. Don't forget to TIP your KJ, dirtbags!!! (I am not the KJ, nor do I have any affiliation with one that works here). Haha

It is why it is. Karaoke. Cheap beer. Chinese food. There's pool, ping pong, and a patio. I love it here.

my friend got roofied here last night. it even says in the bathroom "watch ur drinks" on the stall. turns out that warning is valid. B safe singers

Ended the night here on a recent Saturday in Portland. They do karaoke until 2 so we got there around 12:30 and put our songs in right away. They have a sweet, super old computer (with a port for floppy disks!) that you can look up your songs on instead of flipping through books. We ordered a few $1.50 jello shots and drinks as we waited and also took advantage of the photo booth in the corner. I would say this is a much younger crowd than I am used to at karaoke. The quality of singing is also not as good. That doesn't matter too much to me but I was surprised more people weren't up dancing and singing given the average age of the patrons. Chopsticks is pretty large though with a vast seating area and a separate pool table room. It doesn't really promote intimacy and camaraderie. Someone in our group ended up ordering a plethora of appetizers, including mozzarella sticks, fries, egg rolls, and gyoza. I appreciate that they serve both Asian and American drunk foods. It was nice to have something to snack on but the quality was the equivalent of bowling alley food or something. I guess I enjoyed the egg rolls the best. I can see if you get a large group of people who all want to sing and dance, this place is probably a lot of fun. When you go with a bunch of grumpies who want to sit and stare, it's not that much fun. I had fun, even though I overheard a millennial say "I don't know this song" when I began singing Macy Gray's I Try :(

Requested a karaoke song 2 hrs ago and still the same regulars get to go over and over again.

This was the second time I've been for karaoke. I was a Chopsticks III loyalist, but since it closed I thought I would try this location again. The KJ here absolutely sucks (not sure of the name, but I have a feeling from the consistent negative reviews about one of the KJs, it's the same dude). I sang once within maybe 15 minutes of getting there and tipped after, but my second song never came up after maybe three hours. My friend went to ask why we hadn't been up in awhile and she said the KJ mentioned something about tipping to her. I always tip after singing, but I didn't get the chance to since I never got called up again. Frankly, the sound wasn't good and his choices of who to call was pretty lackluster since it was based on either who he liked or who tipped when they put in slips. I have no patience for this. I don't plan on being back.

Waited over 2 1/2 hours for my song when other people I saw around had gone twice, even people in our group who showed up afterwards. And yes I tipped. I went up and asked if I could please be moved up because I would have to leave soon the DJ asked for $20 dollars. Really? It's not that serious. I would spend some serious coin in here if the DJ was at least somewhat fair. I would give zero stars if I could

This place SUCKS for karaoke. If you want to sing a song, plan on waiting at least 3 hours to sing it.

The service is nice and very helpful. But, the DJ is unfair and the way they work out the karaoke playlist doesn't make sense. I was here for 3-4 hours and only sang one song out of 6 song submissions. I know it seems silly, but getting here early and making sure I tip is important, but it didn't feel like he cared about people's submissions.

The KJ kind of sucks at mixing people on the mic and or doesn't know how to, but the food seems good!

There are multiple problems with this place. One, the speakers for the karaoke are not well placed. But this is not really a gripe of mine. So, i was at this establishment for the first time last Saturday and i was the designated driver. Because of this, i was not drinking so i bought food and a diet coke. Typically, refills are free at a bar. Typically, if they are not free the staff will tell you they are not Typically, if a server asks you if you want a soda refill they are free. I was charged almost ten bucks for diet soda. This is really unacceptable. I don't think i have ever gone to a bar that doesn't offer free refills for soda even. There are PLENTY of karaoke bars in portland, i will not be going back to Chopsticks

Went there on a Sunday night and had a great time. It's easy to find because of the sign and the unusual picture on it, that's the owner (really nice guy). The food was a little above normal (very little), but it's served late. The staff was great. The karaoke set it apart, there's a dedicated group of customers that love it to death and show it and they're so nice. We had a great time, we'll definitely go back again and often

The karaoke DJ only plays songs from people he knows, don't expect them to play your requested songs in any kind of order! This was our second time here and we understood we should tip the DJ for him to move our request forward in line, OK whatever. We were there from 11pm-1:30am and went up to ask him multiple times when our songs were up and it was always "you're next" or "5 more!" which was frustrating, he was just making stuff up. We noticed a certain scene/crowd of people were the majority and the DJ was only choosing songs from these people as the night went on (assuming they are his friends/regulars). We had been there for 2+ hours waiting for a song AND we tipped him, thinking 'please just play our 3 minute song and we will leave'! Will not be back. (The servers are attentive and the drinks are fine, this review is based on our karaoke experience)

Absolutely love this place. My first time coming in was on Halloween. I went in again last night that's how fun it was. It was recommended to us by another bar in town. Anyway the best part of this place is that the karaoke DJ was super cool, makes sure everyone get their turn, and stays in the same order they arrived in. You might have to wait awhile because a lot of people love to do Karaoke here. It's a no judgement kinda place with lots of fun supporters. People dance on the floor while you sing, or join in and sing with you. It's super fun. The age groups range from 21-60 Lots of college kids but also mid 30s too. We even made some new friends too. All around great experience. Food wasn't bad either. Huge smoking patio outside that has plenty of tables and cozy chairs in case you get too hot while you're dancing your heart out to Madonna. Haha There are couches and pool tables and some serious ping pong tables and players. The outside looks like a dive but inside is actually pretty nice. Overall I highly recommend this place for a solid good time.

This is Portland away-from-downtown scene best keep secret! It's a karaoke bar with outdoor patio & spacious seatings, mixed age crowds without the douches & "bros" type you'd fine in downtown. Very cool vibes here perfect for groups. bartender makes strong drinks & the full Chinese food menu is served late night! great friendly service from staff as well...and especially the owner.

Came in for my sister's birthday with 20 or so of her pals. We were treated well. The drinks are STRONG. And inexpensive. Others had the food, said it was nuttin' special... But I don't go to a karaoke joint for food... If you wish to sing karaoke get your name in early the line gets long. I was very surprised though when my sister had put only one name to sing when we both wanted to sing and the guy made a big fuss. It should be no bigs... But he was VERY rude. We were like okay, whatevs... But wow! Super snotty! We just rolled! So be sure to let staff know if more than one wish to sing! Otherwise you get 'tude.

I came here for the first time with a large group. When we got there, (Monday night 10ish) it was dead except for a handful of regulars. We all put in a lot of songs and the KJ was pretty equal about calling our names along with the more regular singers. The drinks were adequate, the food was good for a night of drinking. I'd return, but I can also see how on a busier night, it could be less fun.

The beer selection here is pretty good but the food leaves a lot to be desired. They have a great song selection but if you're going for karaoke on the weekends be prepared for a LONG wait. 2 hours + sometimes. Also more than once I've gotten lost in the rotation and had to resubmit my songs back to the bottom of the rotation. If you want to drink and have a good time and maybe do karaoke this place is fine but if you really want to do karaoke all night go somewhere else.

If you want the quintessential karaoke experience, this is the place to get it. The night we were there, it was 80% bad singers, 15% pretty good, and 5% AWESOME. Fun was had by all. The table service was quick and cheerful - accommodating many separate checks in our large party. Stiff drinks and good prices toped the experiences off. They have off street parking in a small lot on the north side of the building.

The karaoke DJ told me I'd have to bribe him either with money or "goods" in order to get our songs moved up. Instead of playing them in order of who put a song in he mixed them all up and even though I put my song in within the first 5 minutes of accepting requests he didn't play my song for 3 hours. When I went up to ask him about how much longer our songs would take to show up he told me that my party's songs weren't coming up for another 45 minutes unless I made him an offer. When I decided not to bribe him he pushed my party's songs back even further. What a jerk. Chopsticks should reconsider their choice if DJ.

The bartender I had tonight was HORRIBLE. I come here a good amount of times during the week. She was slow and rude overall. I waited fifteen minutes to close out and she only focused on a guy wanting to buy a sweatshirt and not knowing what size to get. When I complained to her about the wait time she threatened to kick me out.... I was already trying to close my tab and leave! So rude. This bartender is the WORST. I wish I got her name. Everyone else is ballin and I love them but she sucks so much. Horrible experience just trying to pay and go home....

Mr. Long hair and glasses KJ who thinks he's god's gift to karaoke needs a lesson. This was the worst sound and song selection and ATTITUDE I've ever encountered. Food was sub par. Service was decent. But Jesus. This KJ. SERIOUSLY GUYS. If you're looking to karaoke, this is NOT the place. He is rude. His sound sucks. I literally cannot even understand how this guy has a job. It was that bad.

Love this place! Bummer the DJ hasn't called us up in over 2 hours. Definitely playing faves. He's missing out. Because we are awesome. Love chopsticks. DJ needs to be fired..

I chose to ignore other reviews about the KJs and give Chopsticks a chance. That was a mistake. As with every other review on this page states, the KJ just shuffles between regulars and ignores everyone else, even on a half empty night. Perhaps if management chose to listen to an overwhelming majority of patrons who was disappointed in the choices of the KJ, they may be able to get past their 2 star review status and get more customers. Service was good but that didn't make up for the ignorance of the KJ. Such a shame.

Good karaoke but the chinese food is horrible!!! I would only go back if I was already drunk and didn't care what I was eating.

Great place for a cheap beer and billiards. I don't smoke, but you can smoke outside on a porch with your beer. Im sure that's a huge plus for some.

The female KJ here is lazy and hella rude. I highly recommend literally anywhere else for karaoke if she is working. My friend asked her how many songs until she sang and she repeated it's gonna be a little bit three times and had an attitude towards her for asking and didn't even give her a real answer.
