The 35 Best Restaurants in São Paulo, Brazil | Eater

"Chef Gabriela Barretto (who also runs the hip Futuro Refeitório) evokes extreme flavors and textures from cooking over wood and charcoal fires. Her homey restaurant, Chou, boasts an excellent backyard patio perfect for warm nights, and dining in the convivial, charming atmosphere is like going to a good friend’s cookout. Barretto serves cassava cooked over charcoal with sea salt and fresh marjoram; fresh clams and orzo pasta with preserved lemon; and grilled octopus with sweet paprika and lemon. Dishes often emerge still smoking from the grill." - Rafael Tonon

Google
Came on a quiet weeknight, they have a very “farm to table” feel to the approach to their food. Simple methods with just enough to bring out the most of each ingredients. Apart from the steak that was slightly too well done for my liking, rest was amazing! The wagyu and the palmito were both memorable and delicious.

Google
took them 10 minutes to acknowledge us at the table. Lack of procedures. starters are good food is under seasoned. Negroni deluxe is poorly balanced. pork and meat were nice but lacks glee

Great food, nice ambiance, excellent service. A bit pricy, but worth it. Will I be back… Yes!

Chou was a lovely evening of well executed Mediterranean food at a great location. Super central to Pinheiros, with great vegetable and seafood focused dishes, what’s not to love?

Yelp
Visited on a Wednesday night. We had reservations but traffic made it impossible to make it on time so we ordered drinks and had to wait about 40 mins or so to be seated. Drinks were very well done and would def come back here just to try some more of them. Ambiance is nice--it's built to make you feel like you're eating inside a garden. Perfect for a first date. Food was good-- tried the mushrooms and the fish of the day. They were both well done and tasty, but nothing mind blowing enough for me to award 5 stars. Would recommend, maybe there are better things to try out on the menu. Flan for desert was subpar, wouldn't do it.

Yelp
We had a stunning meal at Chou! Our Portuguese is not great, so they were kind enough to send Roger out to help us navigate our meal. I had a lovely glass of vinho verde and the hubs had a tasty drink with coconut milk ice cubes - super refreshing! Highlights from our meal were the ash-roasted sweet potatoes and the catch-of-the-day. Everything was wonderful though. Can't recommend it enough!

Yelp
Out of 35,000 restaurants in Sao Paulo, thus has to be one of the best. The ambiance is vey nice, the service is friendly and efficient and the food is amazing. Every single fish was delicious.

Yelp
This place was WONDERFUL! One of my all time favorite meals. They have mezzes -- small plates -- that lets you try lots of different things as appetizers. Everything is very simple, but amazingly delicious -- the mark of a really, really great chef. The manioc was fantastic -- creamy inside, crispy outside. The lentil hummus comes with carrots (yay! so much better than bread). The pumpkin was also very good. We ordered the green beans (the sauce was very different -- creamy sesame seed, very good) and okra (also very different, the sauce was a bit addictive) as side dishes. I had the eggplant main. This was out of this world. It was the best eggplant thing I have ever had. And we also had the fish -- also very good. Oh, and the atmosphere is beautiful. It is a like a garden with lights and trees and very comfy chairs. And the service was fantastic! They were really nice -- they were super accommodating of allergies.

Yelp
I didn't like this place at all, would not come back here! My fish and porto belo mushroom were very salty and not tasty. The place was full of mosquitos!! Very expensive food and not good. I don't reccomend this place.

Yelp
The food is excellent. But the wait is horrific. They say 30 minutes which turns into 2 hours and then you sit and half the menu has been sold out with very few options for people who don't eat red meat nor gluten. The ambience is a cozy, nicely decorated house. Very friendly.
