Chouchou

Due to the good reviews we decided to have our first dinner of 2025 here. It is located in the lively Chatelet. Outside was well illuminated and had a lovely Xmas decor. The restaurant was very full. We had to wait a bit at the entrance since there was a queue. The place is very big, it also has a large heated terrace. A friendly waiter accompanied us to our table which was situated at one end of the Restaurant. The place where we sat was comfortable. It was very warm inside. The waiter that took our order was rather gloomy…Our onion soups were very small compared to other restaurants. We found it expensive for 12€. The quantity of cheese was scarce and was a bit scorched. He brought a basket of complimentary bread which was abundant and fresh. Although we were hungry we decided not to eat a main course at this place. It is a pity because the place is comfy and from what I read in the previous reviews the staff are very friendly.

Chouchou serves the best North African platter in town! Their couscous, lamb, duck, chicken; you name it--are all incredibly flavorful and perfectly cooked. The staff are very helpful and supportive, taking the time to explain the dishes and portions, which adds to the experience. While the prices may not be the cheapest, the quality and taste make it worth every penny. If you’re in Paris and love savory food, Chouchou is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

I loved my experience at Chouchou! The service is very welcoming and they even got us (party of 3) a table for 6 people since it's not busy. Really appreciate the hospitality.

One of the few restaurants where you can have breakfast before 12:00 PM. The interior is unique, and the staff is friendly. The food is tasty for its price. We ordered a breakfast that included an omelette or eggs with potatoes and greens, a hot drink, freshly squeezed juice, and a choice of a croissant or sweet pancakes with filling. The price for breakfast was 17 euros. We recommend this place!

Chouchou is a typical Parisian restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. At 1300, it was quiet. But 45mins later, the restaurant was full. I had the set lunch menu for 17€90 which is a 2 course fixed price menu with service included. Drinks are extra though. French bread and water is provided within this price. Whilst the staff were excellent, the main course mixed grill had overcooked chips and dry meat. The steak had a large chunk of gristle which even the steak knife couldn't cut. Apart from this, the rest of the meal was good. I would still recommend this restaurant.

The restaurant is good. The food, especially the confit and the roasted chicken are delicious. The waiter is also very helpful. When I feel the grilled steak is a little bit over cooked than what I expected, the waiter has voluntarily replaced one for me though I didn’t ask for.

During my recent visit to Paris, I dined at Chouchou and was thoroughly impressed. I ordered the Formule Plat+Des and a Tajine d’Agneau Prun Eaux Amandes. The portions were incredibly generous, easily enough to satisfy even the heartiest appetite. The Tajine d’Agneau (lamb tagine) was bursting with flavor, beautifully seasoned with a perfect balance of sweet prunes and almonds. Every bite was tender and rich, making it one of the best dishes I’ve had in Paris. The Formule Plat+Des offered a delightful variety, adding even more to the feast with a well-rounded meal combination. Not only was the food quantity remarkable, but the taste was top-notch—definitely worth the price. With a total of €43.40, the quality and portion sizes made it a fantastic value for money. The ambiance was relaxed and welcoming, and the service was prompt. Takeaway available and restaurant functions till 2am! If you’re looking for a place that offers hearty meals with unforgettable flavors, Chouchou is a great choice!

If you’re in Paris and craving authentic French food, I highly recommend checking out this hidden gem. The staff here are incredibly friendly and accommodating—when I showed them a photo of a dish I wanted to try, they not only helped me figure out its name but also prepared it for me with such care. As a tourist eager to experience local cuisine, it was one of the best meals I had in town. The warm hospitality and delicious food made it a memorable stop on my trip. Don’t miss it!
