Paris Hotels That Don't Play It Safe

"In common usage, “chouchou” is a French term of endearment — but in the Parisian hospitality world it’s the name of a charming little boutique hotel right by the Palais Garnier. It’s chic and colorful, with a surplus of personality, and its diminutive name suits it — in contrast with the self-seriousness of the grand palace hotels, this is a fun and stylish hotel, but also an affordable and accessible one." - The MICHELIN Guide

The Best New Hotels in Paris that Opened in 2021 - AFAR

"More of a social destination than a mere overnight stop, this 63-room property near the Palais Garnier and Galeries Lafayette brands itself as a hotel, bar and guinguette with a plant-filled atrium that hosts events ranging from Ricard tastings to sports screenings and Fête de la Musique celebrations. Guest rooms are roomy and feature a marquee-like frame around the bed, while playful decorative details—such as lipstick “kisses” labeled with different names and dates in each room—underscore its lively, convivial atmosphere." - Sara Lieberman

Wonderful food. We had the lamb skewer and the salmon with a plate of escargot’s and I finished it off with crème brûlée. Easily one of my best meals in Paris so far. The atmosphere was creat and the beer was cold. Will definitely go back.

The dining environment is really great! The restaurant even has disinfectant gel. How thoughtful!! The service is top - notch. Thanks to Anais for the service. I highly recommend this place. The food is yummy too, and the portions are huge.

The restaurant served a very generous portion of bread before the meal, along with delicious mint tea. The duck confit was excellenwell-seasoned potatoes. The escargots were also full of flavor. Overall, it was a highly satisfying experience.

We have enjoyed a lovely meal at Chouchou. The lamb and chicken couscous was wonderful. Large serving sufficient for my wife and I. Special thanks to Anais who served us warmly and made us feel welcome. The complimentary hot mint tea was an unexpected and pleasant touch to the end of our experience there!

Food was decent but average, however for the price you pay, this is a super good deal in my opinion, especially the food portion is hugeeee 👍🏻 The complimentary tea was super nice tho 😋I really like that! They didn’t force tourist to pay tips or anything, and no shady and hidden charge, recommended for tourist who are visiting Paris, and want a nice meal with reasonable price :)

This was the best meal we’ve had all week in Paris! We ordered the Beef Bourbuignon and the Tajin Mechoui d’agneau Aux Petits Légumes. They both had emasculate flavor, texture with large portions. The meat was moist and extremely flavorful. The service was even better! We were welcomed with a glass of rosé while we waited to be seated. Even better, my mother was not feeling well with a stomach ache; it was evident by the staff and they brought us complimentary tea. The food was amazing and even better staff. The price was also very reasonable in the bustling part of town. I will definitely be coming back tomorrow!

Being a UK tourist on a budget in Paris, it's important for me to find an affordable restaurant with high quality french food to enjoy. I came across this place online and wanted to try it out. After my sightseeing I took a nice walk there from nearby chatelet. The ambience made me feel at home. Growing up I've always loved cafe rouge in the UK, and I could feel the similar excitement vibes already from when I was a kid about to eat some french food. The waiters and waitresses were polite and helpful and the portion sizes were so generous. The food and desserts were delicious, well balanced and so satiating. It gave me energy to travel around even more afterwards without feeling hungry. I definitely would recommend this place.

We got a reservation on the day - the space was lively and clean, was very nice and cosy! Service staff were all warm and welcoming. We were seated almost immediately, and there was never a dull moment, because bread was served, then our appetisers, and the mains!! We had the beef bourguignon and the chicken tagine and wow we would highly recommend trying them both - or just give their moroccan dishes a go! Taste was impeccable - we lapped up every last bit of the sauce and was so pleased the bread came with butter and olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Most places just land the bread plain and cold. We had happy hour wine which was super worth it, and they also gave us complimentary mint tea and an espresso at the end of our meal. What’s not to love?
