The Best Biryanis in London | Eater London

"A modern white exterior, large awning, and outdoor seating lead into a spacious cafe-like setting with enormous framed photographs of old Calcutta. Entrepreneur Aditya Ghosh and his childhood friend chef Anjan Chatterjee have been serving flavours from their hometown of old Calcutta right around the corner from Marble Arch station. Their chicken and mutton biryani, served in a black pot, brings old Calcutta to life on the palate. This is a mildly spiced biryani laden with potatoes, fried onions, and chunky pieces of meat, and the addition of boiled egg, vetiver, rose petals and saffron are a unique touch. The duo also does an Awadhi biryani, but the true speciality will always be the Kolkata biryani." - Advika Reddy

Speciality Restaurants India Will Open Chourangi Restaurant Marylebone | Eater London

"Making a London debut after plans were delayed from 2020, this restaurant — located at 3 Old Quebec Street in Marylebone — is named for a historic district of Kolkata and aims to serve the city’s cuisine. It arrives at a moment when there are very few explicitly Kolkatan restaurants in London and is being framed as a potentially genuinely new expression of Kolkata food in the city, coming from a prolific Indian group that operates dozens of brands and restaurants across several countries." - James Hansen

What can I say, this was the first time we visited and me and my husband we're blown away! I booked a table for 3, me, my husband and my 2 year old, I was very surprised that they let us dine with our baby as we have difficulties with alot of the restaurants who do not accept toddlers for dinner, we also do not like to leave him behind and enjoy having him with us in the experience! I booked the dinner for my husbands birthday, we were held in traffic so I had to return arrange our table twice which to my surprise the team and I will specially mention Palash we're absolutely amazing, he was very very polite and was happy to hold our table. When we arrived Palash informed us that they have held our table for us and to sit on the far corner table as we were with baby (the best seats) we felt like they really thought about us, and we felt very comfortable as our little one can be a little noisy too therefore those seats felt like we weren't in anyone's face and not disturbing others. Now the food was just mind blowing, me and my husband we're blown away by the different style of food we had, my husband said it took him back to Kolkatta from when he visited years back and that to me was very special. We loved the every single dish!!!! We went for the tasting meal and we were so happy we did because it was more than enough and we got to try a variety so we were happy. The only reason why I felt like I couldn't give 5* was because there wasn't much options for baby apart from chips which was fine for us as we took his own food with us but the team really tried to cater for him too, we also felt like the aubergine dish was a little too sweet for us but still very tasty, the dessert I felt like it was very tasty but it wasn't much different to what he usually have, although we enjoyed it very very much. Me and my husband defiantly had one of the best meals in a very long time so thank you to all the team at Chourangi, a special thank you to Palash and the other boys (I couldn't get their names) thank you for playing with my little one and for his sweets (which i will enjoy hehehe) I honestly could not fault you guys for anything! We will definitely come back very soon and be your regulars. Once again THANK YOU for a wonderful evening. Love Papeya, Himadri and little baby Devansh!

Amazing restaurant for authentic Indian Bengali food! The host who served us was so welcoming, always smiling, and made the experience even better. Every dish we tried was really, really tasty – full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Price-wise it’s reasonable, and the portion sizes are just right for one person. Overall, a wonderful place to enjoy delicious Bengali cuisine with warm hospitality. Highly recommend!

If you're looking for Indian food with a difference, this is the place to come. The menu takes inspiration from regional food in India that you don't usually see in a standard curry house. The dishes all tasted great, but the aubergine with mango was the standout feature for us. The service was also friendly and attentive and the decor is stylish and calming. We will definitely be back.

Came after sunset during a weekday. There was no crowd. Excellent service and atmosphere. Ordered chicken butter, steamed rice, and butter naan with cola (cost around 45 GBP). The food taste was average, not spicy, although I asked for it. However, I didn't ask to change the dish or even discuss it with them.

We stopped here on a whim and had some of the best lamb curry we’ve ever had. The Kosha lamb was perfectly seasoned, tender, melt in your mouth lamb. The staff recommended this dish and we could see why it was their specialty. Wish we discovered this place earlier in our visit to London - we would have tried more dishes.

Delicious food, fantastic service, and very relaxing ambience. A group of friends and I came here for dinner on a Friday evening. Make sure you make reservations because they do fill up quickly during the busy dining hours on the weekend. We ordered a variety of appetizers (banana, flour, chili chicken, poppadum and the bread basket), which were tasty and satisfying. For dinner, I had the chicken chap with Calcutta garlic naan. The meal was absolute perfection and just the right portion for my appetite. I also ordered coconut ice cream for dessert, which was not too sweet. The service was spot-on. One person from our party arrived over an hour after the reservation time, but the servers did not make us feel rushed nor pressured to order before he arrived. We also told our server that we were celebrating a birthday and he brought us complimentary glasses of champagne, which was super thoughtful. All in all, it was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys local Calcutta cuisine.

Authentic Bengali food and most importantly the fish fry, prawn cutlet was too good, chicken biryani - totally kolkata style. So without any doubt you can opt this place for authentic Bengali food. Very nice ambience 😊
