Our first experience at The Chowder Room happened to be their wonderful Christmas special for Feast of the Seven Fishes. I’ve experienced quite a bit of international, multi-course fine dining, and this meal held its own! It’s a very causal and relaxed atmosphere, but they take their craft very seriously. Each course was better than the last and the dessert was so unexpected and delightful. It was a great way to treat my family and spend quality time together for the holidays. I especially appreciated that they made an exceptional vegetarian menu for my sister. (She was the only vegetarian there, but they nailed her menu). Overall, the service was wonderful, the food was spot on, and the environment was peaceful and welcoming to all! Great night!

Great quality and good prices. Hope they make the tuna sandwich a regular staple on the menu. Sad to see Chowder Room close. I think a lot of it had to do with a not so great location. Even when I had been there a half dozen times and knew where to look I still found it hard to find, especially with the speed of traffic on Broadway. I hope the owners consider giving it a try again somewhere else in the city.

From first entering and getting the quaint little table by the window 😄, then letting me snap some photos for this...on top of great food and service, A+!

Food was good, but service was awful. My family and I were looking forward to a delicious, welcoming, seafood dining experience, but The Chowder Room really missed the mark. Our server was a young girl who was unprofessional and distant. It's upsetting when a server can truly offset your meal/outing. Place has solid potential, but managers need to train their employees on how to properly do their jobs.

Great place for Chowder! I got the bread bowl of the New England style and it was amazing, and filling. My girlfriend decided on the bbq shrimp, which she loved. This is a good place for seafood, everything we tried was very fresh. We will definitely be back!

Love the atmosphere. Good choice of background music. Food delicious. Happy hour Tuesday through Sat 4-6 pm. Nice happy hour menu. I chose 2 mini loaves of warm sour dough bread with butter and I was being adventurous by trying a cup of crab bisque. I'm not a heavy seafood eater but it was delicious. My table mates chose fish and chips made from cod. Lightly breaded. Served with shoestring fries.( too salty for my taste). Both of my friends are seafood eaters.(They were raised on the coasts. I'm a midwesterner.) On the menu were oysters, shrimp, mussels, poke, and other favorites. Table mates enjoyed coleslaw. Said cod was nice and thick with light breading. The three of us said we'd go back again. They also have a decent liquor menu. Prices quite reasonable. Hamburgers looked good and salmon sliders. We got there at beginning of happy hour. It was full by the time we left. Nice wall decor. Friendly helpful staff. Returned on 1/18. Everything great. Unfortunately they have closed effective 1/20. Hoping someone will reopen in same spot with same decent seafood menu.

The existence of this place makes not living by the sea more tolerable. I came by the other day for a brunch fix of chowder and clam strips but unfortunately they weren't open yet. Long story short, I had a bowl of chowder at an upscale downtown restaurant later that night and quickly realized that I should have just waited on the sidewalk for a couple hours until the chowder room opened their door. Also, the clam strips are perfection. Great drinks too.
