Burger and sandwich were great. Smoked chowder was very smokey and the elote chowder was a bit spicier than expected. The service is on the slower side with the smaller dining room and kitchen but the food was well worth the wait!

Are there enough good words to say about this place? I think not! Everything was SO on point! The turkey pesto sandwich is massive and fairly priced, and the flavors were too notch. Elote soup had a tinge of spice and hit every taste bud in the right place. The service was fantastic and the vibe was immaculate, we will certainly be back next time we are in town!

Ordered on DoorDash today so can’t speak to the atmosphere or service, however, for $22, I would've expected a larger sandwich; one that's either enough for 2 or at least leftovers. Just moved from Miami so used to higher prices, but this is by far the highest price with smallest portion sandwich I've had. If I paid around $16-18 for a sandwich, it'll usually make two meals, there's meat falling out of the sandwich, no area of bread without meat, etc. It was good, but unfortunately not good enough to order again for the cost and portion size. The meat was also overcooked and because of that the whole sandwich just tasted dry and felt like it was missing something. With delivery and a cup of clam chowder I paid $32 for this. Was really looking forward to this place so bummed with the outcome!

Best sandwiches, burgers and chowder in Spokane! Their homemade bread/buns are so soft yet crunchy as they’re perfectly toasted and sandwiches are huge! My daughter had the cheesesteak and I had the crispy chicken Caesar and then we split and shared. Son had a smash burger and clam chowder and husband had the special of the day birria crunch wrap with the steelhead chowder. Amazing food and service! Love the vibe of this place and the owner/staff are awesome! So fun and delicious!

I had a great time. My host was so sweet and attentive. I unfortunately arrived close to closing time, so their amazing regular chowders was sold out. Luckily I got to try their daily special Potato and Sausage chowder with Parmesan crisps and paprika oil along with a chopped cheese sandwich. All of the food was delicious. I hope I get to come back and try some other dishes soon.

I stumbled across this unique eatery in exploring Spokane. The name says it all. I had some Smoked Steelhead Chowder. Quite tasty. I didn't even know that was a thing. I need this more often. Their smash burger was wagyu-based. It was prepared to perfection.

Loved this place. Had the fish sandwich. It was SO good. The vibe is really cool. It's kind of like an old, quirky diner, but a little....rock n' roll? I dunno, but I liked it. The food was great.

This place can't miss. Whether you're craving a great burger or something more exciting like an Italian beef or meatball with burrata, you can't go wrong. We've tried most of the menu and everything is good. My most recent favorite is the cold sandwich (I think it's called The Lake) with turkey and ham and Doritos. So good just like everything else. Go to Chowderhead! Also they're open until 8:00 every day now and that's both super exciting and dangerous. See you there!

Will start by saying that we were very happy with the food here. Everything is made to order and made from scratch. Before you read further, in spite of everything, we will come back because the food was really THAT GOOD! Really good! Our sandwiches and chowder were fresh and delicious. Portion was significant - no complaints there. Here come the challenges: - One person was doing all of the wait service, phone and carry outs. He was very nice and was working very hard, but it was at the expense of the quality of service. To emphasize, not his fault. They had a full restaurant and were just understaffed. - Ordered quickly, but then food took 45 minutes to be served. Delicious and worth the wait, but 45 minutes is a long time for cold sandwiches! - We felt uncomfortable asking for anything because our server was so busy. Our table was not wiped down when we sat down, so we wiped it ourselves. No silverware at first. One napkin for two people. Room temperature water, no ice. No status such as "your order is coming soon." We should have spoken up, but he was handling so many other things. - One would argue that we deserved this lukewarm experience, since we came at the lunch rush, so we will only blame ourselves for coming to lunch at lunch time. Next time, we will arrive expecting that it could be a long-ish wait for the food. We will be back, however, because again, the food was superb and maybe next time, they won't be so short staffed.

Charming little spot tucked away on Monroe, easy to miss from the outside, and like many downtown locations, street parking is your best bet. The food was delicious! I ordered the avocado toast with a side of tater tots, and was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion, more like a bowlful than a side! The avocado toast itself was flavorful, with a nice touch of dill and plenty of tomatoes. They do have cold brew on the menu, though I was a bit disappointed to see no plant-based milk options available. Would eat here again, hoping they add more vegan options in the future!

Great place for an early Brunch! Come at 10am and avoid the crowds. The Smash burger was delicious with fries while the Pork Belly Reuben was equally tasty. Service was fast and the wait staff friendly. Overall, a very good brunch experience.

This place absolutely slaps. Feels like you're in a chowder house in coastal Maine but the people are nicer. Can't wait to go back

This spot has one of the best Philly cheesesteaks I've had -- flavorful, fresh, and super satisfying. The Steelhead Chowder is amazing, and the Clam Chowder is just as good. Great food, solid portions, and friendly service. Definitely worth a visit!

The overall vibe of this place is great and I will die on the hill that their sandwiches are the best in town.

I would honestly give this place 10 stars if I could. Tyler, our server, was freaking amazing! Straight up, the best chowder I've had in a LONG time. Kim-Cheesesteak was absolutely on point and was one of the best cheesesteaks I've had outside of Philly, or in. Excellent everything. This place is a new staple. Quality food, quality people, quality chowder. Hell yes!

"Hot Italian Beef wasn,t hot, there was nothing Italian about it, I am assuming from the texture it was beef. In short, it was bland and unappetizing. Chowder was okay, but could have been canned Progresso. Service was good, ambiance was nice. Might give it another shot, but not with what I ordered. Wanted to like it, but couldn't.

Chowderhead was pretty good. Very small interior so be prepared to wait for a table during peak times. Food was frankly very nice, but small portions and high price means it's not a great value, more a special treat. This is funny when you're talking about soup, which one typically associates with modest, day-to-day dining, but I digress. Give it a try, you'll probably love it.

Best clam chowder in the INW. We have even came and bought a large container for when we do Costco crab legs at home because it just makes the meal so much better. When getting it to go they even give you a cup with all the green goodness to sprinkle on top at home when you serve it.

Had some dealings at the court house today, and since I was there during lunch, I took the opportunity to finally get into Chowderhead for some of their Smoked Steelhead Chowder. It was so good, I bought a quart to bring home for later. I was admiring all the sandwiches that people around me were enjoying. I look forward to coming back and trying one of their sandwich offerings. Chowder just seemed like the perfect thing today.

This was our first time at Chowderhead in Spokane and wow it did not disappoint! We ordered the Italian hot beef and corn chowder and clam chowder. So delicious!! A must try for anyone, from the brisket to all the spices and ingredients to the bread and all is made in house.. The service was awesome as well! We will be back and will tell our family and Friends to come here they will love it as much as we did.

Stopped here to check it Chowderhead. The sandwich sign out front said "Good Food" was a misnomer. Part of the ceiling looks as if it's going to fall at any time. The place is small, the music was up really high, so it was hard to speak. Upon being seated we were informed that they were out of a couple of sandwiches. The Clam Chowder tasted as if it came straight out a can, which anyone can get at any store, take home heat up yourself; the Smash burger was a bit overpriced. The staff was on top of keeping the tables clean, but not so much as for customer service. No flatware, no napkins. Above all no parking.

Food: clam chowder was tasty, as was the bread bowl. Pork belly Cuban is their creation, it is not a Cubano, and it was ok. Drinks: be prepared to pay $3 for a can of coke. Yes, for ONE can of coke Service: was good Ambiance: feels like an older diner Parking: on the street, metered parking Idk, we may give it another try.

Great food & service. Parking was metered on the street. I couldn't find a dedicated parking lot for the restaurant. We had clam chowder & the Korean fried chicken sandwich. Both were very good. Good sized portions too

Food was incredible, even to go. My wife and I got the chicken ceaser sammich and it was phenomenal, the bread was AH-MAZING. She also got the chowder which she said was delicious, and my sister in law had the chicken parm, I think I'm getting that next time. Portions were generous and left us quite full. The actual space is cozy and looks like a place I would love to actually sit down and eat, nice and intimate. The staff was also super helpful and quick, even with my to go order. Will definitely be going back.

Delicious variety of chowders. Creative recipes and friendly, welcoming staff. The smoked steelhead was to die for! You can get a generous side of sour dough to accompany your chowder. There is a special everyday. Park on East Mallon because there is limited parking but the chowder is worth walking a block. Besides, is so creamy that the walk will help you burn calories.

Omg'. Are we at the San Francisco wharf the clam chowder comes in a sour dough bread made each night for customer. Try this place there is something for everyone.

Here for the weekend basketball tournament and decided to try something new for Sunday lunch. Reviews seemed great so we hit up Chowder head! This might be my favorite spot in Spokane now. Cup of clam chowder was elite paired with my crispy chicken Caesar sandwich. Service was solid. Also snagged a freshly baked carrot cake for the long drive home to Issaquah and I devoured it within 30 mins. Will definitely come back soon!

Our food was exceptionally good. Loved the "my loves" from our waitress. Made us feel so welcome coming from an ol' mate from England.

Came in for a late lunch and wanted light food. I got the avocado toast, the wife got the kimchi fried chicken. The fried chicken was way overdone, almost burnt, and like a slab of dried crumble. The kimchi was alright and the tater tots were good tots. My avocado toast was great. The coffee was just coffee. The waitress was very nice. I got some cookies to go and they were pretty good.

Chowderhead has become a Spokane staple ever since it opened up. Currently the bahn mi reigns supreme in my books, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. It's my go to spot to take people visiting Spokane, and when my friends stopped by this week from Missoula on their way to Seattle, I knew where I had to take them for lunch. Upon their return I asked them what the best meal they had in Seattle was and they said "honestly, the best food we've had on this trip was the place you took us for lunch." if that's not a testament I don't know what is. Go to chowderhead.

I'm always stoked to find more flavorful vegetarian options around Spokane. A portobello cap in between two pieces of bread just doesn't satisfy. This week I visited Chowderhead for the first time and ordered the mushroom & lentil sloppy joe. I was SO impressed. There's a ton of flavor in this sandwich from the slightly spicy sauce; I couldn't put it down. While I was expecting the traditional tomato/ketchup base of a sloppy joe, their version was more chili/cumin forward but still very good. It came topped with fried onions which was a nice touch. The tots were well seasoned and perfectly crispy. Wish they were open a little later than 6pm. I'm going back to try the white bean crunchwrap and elote chowder next!

The team took 25 min for my order and let it sit in the window until the fries got cold (I threw them away later). When I went up to the window and asked for it to go because it had taken almost all of my lunch period for the order to get prepared, and then sat there for the rest of it, the super aggressive cook screamed 'Jesus Christ' at me and threw it in to go boxes. The waitress at the front seemed apologetic but also extremely slow and slightly incompetent. She kept asking the cook things and he kept screaming back answers in a WAY TOO LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS VOICE. It was pretty bad vibes. I also got the egg salad sandwich which was really weirdly sweet? Like it tasted like someone had smeared a bit of jelly on it and then put the egg salad. The cook also yelled out to his staff and asked whether the egg salad was a day old or longer...and they assured him only a day...but it was a very classy experience. I am hoping my gut can withstand the experience of eating sweet day old eggs. Mostly, just totally appalled by how rude everyone was there. To management - your screamy chef needs to GO!

Chowder is tasty and not too heavy. Chunks of steelhead really come through. The kimchi fried chicken with a perfectly cooked egg hits the spot. The yolk melds in perfectly. Service is really lovely too. What a treasure. Thanks for the memorable experience.

On my first visit to ChowderHead today, we sampled a few items including the Clam Chowder and the Cheesesteak. We also ordered a side of fries and a local IPA, because you can't spell Spokane without I..P..A. As others have said , the Clam Chowder is excellent. It's a New England style clam chowder with scattered chunks of clam, russet potatoes and a rich creamy chowder broth. There is a hint of bay and a tiny bit of clove I think. Delicious! My only complaint is that an $8 bowl of chowder should be a little more generous.

It was pretty good. Clam chowder was the high light, obviously. Service was good too. Cheesesteak sandwich was good. Fries a tad on the lack luster side. Pretty sure they are frozen Ore-Idas.

Smash burger is delicious, fries are good. Chowder is good, really good for eastern washington. Lol. I would return.

First time at Chowderhead and will definitely come back! The smoked steelhead chowder is the best I ever had and tots were perfectly done. Wash it all down with red beer to round out the meal. Gertie is friendly and helpful in selecting the food. Overall just a a fantastic place to eat!

It was a busy lunch service. There was only 1 person in the front and he didn't seem up for the hustle to keep up. Which would be fine if the prices reflected a quick service spot. The food was good! I enjoyed my sandwich. It wasn't appetizing to see into the kitchen and the staff handling the food without gloves (including the finishing products such as buns, assembling sandwich). The space was a bit older but had a charming diner feel. Overall the price was a bit high for the ambiance and service. The food was great and almost justified the price. I know it's a tough time for restaurants and food cost, but the service has to match.

YUM! Tried this place the other day for lunch and I was impressed. The food was delicious, service was great too. FOOD: I got the meatball sandwich and tomato soup. The meatball sandwich was absolutely fantastic, soft, well seasoned meatballs on house-made bread. No complaints from me. The tomato soup was also delicious, fresh and flavorful. My friend got the pesto grilled cheese and tomato soup and said hers was amazing too. A smidge pricey, however, with current inflation, it's pretty equal with any other Spokane restaurant. SERVICE: the staff was friendly and attentive. AMBIANCE: casual dining environment. My ONLY complaint is the parking sucks, but that's obviously outside of their control, but bring coins to plug meters or be a tech wizard and use the QR code parking thing lol. Overall, great experience and we will be back!

Best restaurant ever. Doesn't look like much on the outside but the clam chowder is pretty f*****g good and rivals any other chowders I've had and I've been to Seattle and New England. The sandwiches are good too and compliment the soups real well. Would definitely recommend this place to any chowder connoisseurs. *All reviews are based on a best or worst ever scale. There is no in between.

Heard good things about this place and decided to grab lunch today. Pesto grilled cheese, turkey bacon pesto sandwich, elote chowder, steelhead chowder and tomato basil soup were all delicious. Definitely a keeper!

I have heard about chowderhead from a few facebook food groups I am in, so I have been trying to find time to go and try it. They close at 6 * I thought * which is already inconvenient for dinner. However, I just walked in on a Saturday night at 5:29 and they had all the chairs up on the tables. Closing 30 minutes early. All the employees were standing around talking. They quickly said they had a busy today, and they were trying to "get out of there and could make it to-go only." I probably won't be back.
