This was my second visit to Desi Chowrasta after more than a year, and I was in the area, still recalling the delicious goat biryani I had last time. So, I decided to stop by for lunch again. Initially, I was planning to order the Goat Dum Biryani, but the young lady at the cash register suggested a South Indian chicken dish with rice, similar to biryani but with a different flavor. Though I'm not the biggest fan of chicken, I went with her recommendation—and I’m glad I did!
To top it off, they had a BOGO offer on that dish. Two portions were more than enough for four people. We had one with dry chicken, which was quite good, and the other with fried chicken and gravy—this one was absolutely mind-blowing.
We also ordered a masala chai, and as a Punjabi who loves chai, I’m very particular about it. Unfortunately, their chai was overly sweet and didn’t quite meet my expectations, so I wouldn’t recommend it.
When I shared my feedback about the food at the cash counter, one of the staff members graciously offered me a complimentary dessert, Sahi Tukda, which was a very nice gesture. The staff was friendly and attentive, and I could see why the place is bustling during lunch hours, with many locals working nearby coming in regularly.
They also offer a variety of Indian bakery items, and their menu features great options like biryanis, lunch thalis, and dosas. Plus, they have different deals on different days, so it’s worth checking those out.
Overall, Desi Chowrasta is a great spot for authentic South Indian food in the DFW area, and it’s reasonably priced.
