It’s been about 25 years since I’ve been to Chris & Pitts. I didn’t realize there were any around still and came across the Bellflower location. I wasn’t sure if it would be as good as I remembered but I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was large and can accommodate a lot of guests plus there was ample parking in the front and back. I had the $16.95 steak special with mashed potatoes and gravy and upgraded the second side to a bowl of chili for $2.45. The chili was delicious and quite filling. The steak was on the smaller side but you can’t really complain for such a good price point plus it was the perfect amount of food once you include the mashed potatoes and large piece of garlic toast which was just as good as I had remembered! My husband had the steak and beef ribs and thought it was delicious. All in all, you can’t beat the price and the food still tastes homemade. No frills, just good old fashioned home cooking.

My husband can remembers coming to the original location when he was 3 years old with his daddy. My husband has been a customer for 79 years. We live in Temecula. Whenever we come eat we always take ribs back to our friends that remember this restaurant. My husband is now introducing these ribs to younger generation. Please never close

C&P are old school dining. You come here knowing what you get is good quality delicious food. Staff is super nice and the decor is a trip back in time. My husband sat under the picture of Ronald Reagan. The prices are fair, the bathroom is CLEAN and you will not be hungry once you leave, you WILL be dreaming about the next time you walk in, I can assure you!

We got here and were kindly and quickly seated by the staff. Then we met our waiter, Monse, and she was on point throughout our entire visit. We didn't want or need anything; she took the best care of us and helped us make some decisions from the menu. When the food arrived, it made its own statement of greatness. The plating and everything that hit the table was top-notch—some of the best BBQ and overall food I have had in a very long time. The portions were healthy and satisfying, and all the stuff is made from scratch. During this visit, we had a combination of different foods: breaded pork chops with homemade gravy, pulled pork sandwiches, steak, and an assortment of different sides. It was all pretty magical, even down to the dessert. Long story short, if you are into BBQ and home cooking that has withstood the test of time, I highly recommend checking this place out. You will not be disappointed.

I used to frequent Chris & Pitts growing up. While I haven't been to the restaurant in over 20 years, my recent visit was nothing short of an extraordinarily excellent walk down memory lane! Every food item from the crispy battered onion rings, to the one-of-a-kind blue cheese dressing was just as I remembered. The pepper steak option transported me back to a simpler time. If you love great barbecue and steak, you MUST stop in here. Bay Far is one of my all time favorite restaurants.

Google
The place is a bit outdated, but the food is tasty. I always get the smothered breaded porkchops.

Google
I'm glad I went, but I don't see myself going a second time. The sides were great. We had the blooming onion, onion rings, mashed potatoes, and French fries. All of the sides were flavorful, and the crispy items were very crispy. The BBQ rib wasn't as tender as I had hoped, and I didn't really like the texture or flavor of the meatloaf. I did, however, really enjoy the beef barley soup. The wait staff wasn't rude, but I also didn't get super friendly vibes. Overall, I am actually glad I went, but I won't be going back.

Google
The Place is a bit dark needs some more light has a very old school vibe to it. Servers are plenty and the food is soo good they sell their buttermilk ranch and sigmature bbq sauce try the baby back ribs.

Yelp
Been coming here since 2002. It's been downhill since 2020 or maybe even earlier. Every time, we come here.... hoping it will be better or just an off day. All of the waitresses that use to work here are no longer there. Ribs are microwaved. Not acceptable. Prices have increased to the point of no return. Even Golden Corral is a better option than this place now.

Yelp
The food is alright, I heard people kinda rave about this place but idk. It doesn't help the customer experience when the host is cold and un relatable especially when you notice it yourself yet choose not to say anything then another person comes in and turns to me and says exactly what I was thinking about the host being real short and could seem to care less. If I experienced this as well as another person in the same day, you know management knows.! The lady customer that I did have the chat with did say the Whittier location has better service than the other two locations, FYI. I have a pet peeve about expiration dates and the same lady bought their sauce in a bottle and one was expired, not good! (That was an eye opener to check no matter where you buy). Plenty of inside seating, kind of an old school diner vibe and plenty of parking. This place is not on the top of my to return list.

Yelp
Food at Chris' & Pitt's was just okay, expecting something grand in taste but did not stand out. The service, although polite and nice - this woman could care less about her job and how she is portrayed by customers. Asking myself, does she have a bad hangover and just can't do her job today? Ambiance is casual and tight. One try here was enough and will give other BBQ places a try before returning.

Yelp
My wife and I have been coming here for about 20 years and in the beginning this was literally my favorite steakhouse to go to. But over the years we've seen the decline in service, quality and of course price. Now I'm not one to complain about price if what I'm paying for is worth it. But Chris n Pitts has increased their prices yet the food has declined, especially the steaks. Every single time we come I get the Porterhouse Steak. I don't know specifically when but a few years back I noticed the porterhouse was much thinner than usual. I didn't really say anything and figured it was just a bad cut. Well let me tell you it wasn't a bad cut. All of their porterhouse steaks are maybe a 1/2 inch thick if you're lucky. That's ridiculous for over $42 !!!!! The last one I got last week was literally maybe 1/4 inch thick smh. The honeymoon is over I guess. They will no longer get my money because I won't be returning.

Yelp
I came for lunch. There is a special menu I had a pulled pork sandwich and fries . Fries were hot and crispy. The sandwich was loaded with meat in a tasty barbecue sauce. Service very attentive.

Yelp
I was a little concerned about coming back here but I was happy I did. My prime rib French dip sandwich was excellent. The salad was crisp and fresh and the ranch dressing was delicious. Service was good . The ambiance was " western casual " ( it's a bbq place after all ) The lack of parking is the only negative. Large menu , daily specials are a plus. Worth trying out.

Yelp
Wait time was okay. Food was cold 2 of us got our food. (Wrong order) Other 2 had to wait 30 more minutes for their food. As I sit here right now 1/2 of our table is still waiting for their food Chris and Pitts used to be the place to go for BBQ. But not anymore. Won't be back

Yelp
Come here with low expectations. The reviews posted below seem exaggerated or probably fake. I've been coming to different Chris and pitts for 40 years and something changed or went downhill. Food: beef ribs extra fatty and drenched in salty sauce. The sides seemed old and cafeteria like.... Service: Rude and depressing staff. No smiles or cheer from anyone. Ambiance: dirty dirtier and dirtiest place around. You feel slimy when you leave. Don't even try to park here it's awful and just dangerous. Well, let me tell you that they have the coldest damn beer around so I gave them two stars for that. Probably would never return other than just for a beer.

Yelp
I ordered baby back ribs, spare ribs, beef ribs, and my wife's favorite, "Hawaiian chicken". Everything was delicious and worth the long drive to get here. I just wish that the ribs were served hot at least warmer. I really liked dipping my fries in the baked beans and my wife absolutely loved the Hawaiian chicken. It was notable that the food at this location is much better than the Downey location. I just wish the Downey restaurant would improve its quality of food and service.

Yelp
When you walk in your in a different time zone. You get that old school feeling when you sit and get served by nice people who by the way are taking very good care of you! The food well it's good for a hometown type of place. If you're used to good ole fashion BBQ and service then this is the place for you. Don't skip on their Chili it's delicious along with the chicken fried steak and beef ribs

Yelp
Love this place been going to for over 30 years food and service is usually very good and prices are decent.

Yelp
My wife and I ordered takeout from Chris and Pitts tonight through Grub Hub. 1/2 barbecue chicken dinner with barbecue sauce, baked potato sour cream chives on baked potato and salad with blue cheese dressing. It also comes with garlic bread . I ordered the same meal 2 years ago at their take out window. Grub Hub delivered it timely and perfectly. It was packaged exactly the same way it was 50 years ago when I had it with my mother and father it in Culver City . Now that I found it on Grub Hub we will order it mor frequently.

Yelp
Let's not forget why Chris & Pitt's has been around for so long.....food consistency remain on point. The chicken n rice soup even on a hot day is satisfying. Ample portions at reasonable prices... you can't go wrong. Parking is a bit challenging and the interior is showing it's age a bit but the food makes up for it.
google avatar

Neo A.

Yelp
Food is below average. Pull pork sandwich had the consistency of a sloppy Joe. Sirloin steak was tasteless. It's an old dinner style. Our 1st time here and will not go back. Just wanted to say we tried it. Service was good. I love BBQ and this was just not what I expected
google avatar

Carlos M.

Yelp
My food was good not one of the best barbecue places I've gone to my chicken was a little dry and they were cheap with the barbecue sauce
google avatar

Ernesto S.

Yelp
5 stars solely on the homemade ranch dressing and mash potatoes with gravy !!!! Whatever you get make sure to at least get one of these!

Yelp
I had spare ribs, beans & salad..daughter had burger & fries..my 30 yr old kid's bday & although bit of drive from Anaheim..what she wanted..All food good, except baked beans different from decade b4..Service a bit lazy-seems these ladies working 4 yrs, parking horrible & unfortunately I had to use bathroom- long drive- unisex & pee all over floor...really nasty...
google avatar

Yelp
Family friendly , they treat you well. You can expect the same service and food every time.

Yelp
Used to go to the one in Whittier on Washington before it closed down, which was next to perfect. This one was decent, but the one thing that was a bummer? One of the halves of my baby backs had the silver skin or the membrane still attached on on the underside. I love Chris and Pitts as much as the next person but please just do a little better. Easy fix.
google avatar

Yelp
I've loved Chris and pitts for 40 years now. Great people great food fair prices. I want wanting to go tonight but it didn't work out but there's always tomorrow night God wiilong

Yelp
My review is for the service. I stopped for a quick snack as I was charging my car. Didn't have time to truly enjoy a large meal so I grabbed a small salad and a side of mac and cheese. Bleu cheese dressing was everything! I always know small diners have the best bleu cheese for some reason. The Mac and cheese was just ok- a little bland, not too cheesy, but hey- this is a bbq spot so I'm sure the bbq is as fantastic as the place smells. Anyway- SHOUT OUT TO TINA!!! She offered to help me at the window but then suggested I come inside to order and look at a menu as it was a little cold outside. She was inviting, smiling, nice and really helpful. She was always extremely helpful to her team. Anything they needed she was there to lend a helping hand. Super happy I stumbled upon this little gem! Everyone was really nice, but my girl Tina- you are a rockstar, keep it up!!!

Yelp
What can I say that I'm sure already hasn't been said. Been a staple of our family for decades as I'm sure it has been for other families as well. There's a reason people always go back. Come find out for yourselves!

Yelp
I used to love C & P when the Anaheim location was open. Good food, portions and affordable. Went to this one to try and see if it's just as good. They have lunch specials (about $16), a lunch menu with more choices and a dinner menu. I ordered one of the lunch specials since I wasn't super hungry and not trying to go overboard. Ended up getting the 1/4 chicken and beef rib with a baked potato. The chicken was alright, the beef rib was not even warm and very little meat, plus it was gristly. Not what I expected it to be. Also my baked potato was just wrapped in foil, cafeteria style. Not even sliced in half. I looked at it like, really? Bread and butter was also provided with my plate, which wasn't bad. Not sure what changed but the food wasn't as amazing as I remember. I miss the old location !! Too bad. Service was OK here, nothing good nor bad. *Pro tip, they do have a take out window for grab to-go which is nice. And the parking lot is tiny and a dead-end, so avoid this if possible. Especially if you have an SUV or truck

Yelp
This is a step back in time. Old restaurant, wood panels and the smell of smoke from the street. I was greeted at the front by a friendly hostess and grabbed a booth near the front. The place was bigger than it appeared with double the tables in the back. We started off with a couple cold Buds and a blooming onion, served with ranch and bbq sauce. It was The BEST blooming onion I've ever had. Well seasoned, perfectly battered and cooked spot on. One more round of beers , this is starting well. I thought I figured out the diverse menu with a steak and ribs but opted for the Daily Special top sirloin $15 instead Included salad and a side. The salad was large and cold, fresh iceberg, decent blue cheese dressing. The beans were under oar, wonder what would have been better. fThe steak served on a large hot platter looked sad. Tasted equally. It was a chewy piece of meat, good smokey accent from the grill, but poor quality. Sad. Service was a Standout. We were checked on constantly and made to feel like we could get whatever we needed. Even the cashiers were super cool and we chatted. Maybe I missed on my order, perhaps I needed to just go regular menu and maybe a better cut. But it is, what it is. Drinks and an appetizer and tgen go to dinner elsewhere.

Tod W.

Yelp
Great Baby back Ribs and good service , felt like good home cooking, and I also had a salad and the Blue cheese dressing was delicious, reminded me of Bob's Blue Cheese dressing that I always loved. The also had Beer on tap! In an ice cold Schooner!

Yelp
Chris n Pitt's is a local institution. Ive been a customer since the early 1970's. First the Downey location then Bellflower. The food and service was always consistent. Better tasting food in the early days. This visit to the Bellflower location had me ordering bbq beef ribs (5 bones) with beans, steak fries, and a dinner salad with Italian dressing. I was reminded of why I don't order the bbq beef ribs here. They're not bad. They're just not really pleasant. Think of it this way. If you've never had bbq beef ribs before, you'll like these. They're flavorful but toothy and a bit dry. By the time you get through one of them, you literally have meat crammed in between every one of your teeth. Its painful. It's not good. The meat should be tender juicy and pretty much, fall off the bone. At least that's how I make them at home. The 1/2 grilled sandwich roll on the plate is more a garnish than anything. It doesn't really add to the experience. The beans are good. The fries seemed like the end of the batch. Dark, crispy little pieces with a few larger ones here and there. The salads are always pleasantly refreshing. Dressings tasty as ever. This rib experience reminded me of my last visit to this location I ordered a porterhouse steak medium rare. It was dry and full of gristle. It was not a pleasant experience. It's sad (very sad) to say that when I get close to this location, I usually end up at the Golden Corral next door. *Each visit here the service was great although when sitting in the front area, the servers are quite chatty with each other and it can be a bit much hearing about work drama and their personal lives.

Marie R.

Yelp
Ribs are great and I love that Chris n Pitts carries Thrifty ice cream. Must try this place. It doesn't disappoint. Staff is friendly.

Dustin

Yelp
Man has this place fell off. Took a friend for his bday and was embarrassed to say the least. No meat on the ribs, the chicken was so dry I had to wait for them to refill my drink. Baked potato's were raw. I hear the fork trying to mash the potato myself. The chili was cold and clumped, even the toast was soggy and hard to bite. I was really big upping the place only to be let down big time.

Ntly T.

Yelp
If you like BAD school cafeteria food, this is the place for you. Best thing about the place is their ranch! Food is just bad, tastes old! From Rib (beef and pork) to steak, spaghetti, to mashed potatoes, even the French fries, not good. BF and I Pretty much left everything. I Order a steak spit it back out. Waitress was nice enough to change my steak for a beef rib, ate 1/2, and that was hard to do. Im pretty sure it was bad because I left with a stomach ache. Service was decent will never go back

Helene Y.

Yelp
Our family has been going there for over 60 years. Sorry that the Whittier location closed, But Downey and Artesia are still up and running.

Carlos E.

Yelp
I only tried one item on the menu, so take this with a grain of salt--but the sandwich I had was disappointing. When I think of barbecue, I imagine bold, smoky Texas flavors. What I got instead reminded me more of a McDonald's McRib--and not in a good way.

Natalie B.

Yelp
Our family has been going to Chris' & Pitt's for years and have always enjoyed the experience. The service staff has been with the company for a while and we appreciate a restaurant that keeps their employees. The food and specials are always amazing. Must try!

Yelp
My father always told me if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything. But I'd subscribe to that saying. As a kid we always liked going to Chris and Pitts because they had such great food. I had been to this location once before and that's why we decided to drive more than 40 miles to come and eat here tonight. Unfortunately, we were sadly disappointed. We ordered the rib combo which came with two small salads and we ordered a baked potato along with the four baby back ribs two spare ribs and two beef ribs. The baby back ribs were anything but baby, they were huge, which means they were Going to be tough, which they were. The spare ribs as well were extremely large and equally as tough and dry as well. The beef ribs were OK, the potato was good, and the salad was very good however, the old saying that you can't go home again definitely applies here. We likely won't make the 40+ mile trip ever again.

Jim H.

Yelp
I've been eating ribs with Chris N Pitts BBQ sauce since I was a kid(my Mom wouldn't use anything else), but never went to one of their restaurants before. and considering how high my expectations were, they did not disappoint. I had spare ribs with garlic bread, mashed potatoes, and a salad with honey mustard dressing, and everything was spot on. The place itself is very cozy inside, and all the staff are very nice and friendly. Give this gem a try. you won't be sorry.

Yelp
Didn't get a chance to eat Walked in after a long day of work been wanting to try this place for a while now . When we walked the hostess looked us up and down and said for two? We said yes please she said ok wait for her to sit you. We said thank you and waited, an older women comes to sit us she's wearing a face mask and is fixing it grabs two menus and walks away we followed her and she just dropped the menus on table and walked away, not aggressively but more like irritated. So I looked at my sister and we both said I don't they want us here, she said right I don't feel comfortable eating here anymore. We were walking away and told the hostess thank you but we will pass and she just waved us goodbye like a shoo shoo type of way. So disappointed hope this wasn't personal but we def got the hint and left.

Edna B.

Yelp
Food - Dry and not good quality For 88 dollars wasn't worth it. The sides were so small it was good for a child. Just wasn't what it used to be to be . We will not dine there anymore. So many better choices Lucille's bbq is way better.

Nadia C.

Yelp
I had lunch w a friend one chinken breast plate and one plate w 5 ribs and a coke once i left a small tip its was 70.00 sorry i will never eat there again

Yelp
I just want to say one thing every time I go in there I get such great services my food is always good always hot and the ribs are just to die for I really appreciate my waitress and everybody taking care of me always when I get there and especially when I'm with my family if I can give them more than five stars I would

Yelp
Had the beef ribs which I enjoyed very much! Loved the steak fries and fresh salad. Hubby had the BBQ beef sandwich and enjoyed it.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been a patron for as long as I can remember. Consistently delicious. Last night I enjoyed a medium cooked top sirloin and pork ribs, baked potato, salad with their incredible blue cheese dressing, toasted bread and au jus on the side. Steak cooked perfectly, juicy and tender. Ribs were smoky and tender. Also ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy, their amazing beef barley soup, and toasted bread. So darn good, every time. Waitress are very busy but always take care of the customers very well. This place is a comfortable gem.

Paul P.

Yelp
Great food old school steaks and great sides how can one go wrong with a classic suggest the daily specials and the beef barley soup.
google avatar

Yelp
I always come here after Doughboys such an amazing restaurant! Everyone is always so friendly and welcoming food is amazing totally recommend this to anyone who has a chance to stop by.
google avatar

Kevin B.

Yelp
Below average overpriced food. Was pretty good back in the day but no more - experience is on the ghetto side as well
google avatar

Maggie M.

Yelp
The service was great; however the food was really disappointing. I ordered ribs, they tasted old, cold, extra burned and rubbed with extra bbq sauce that was mildly warm. I was curious about this place now I definitely I won't be coming back.
google avatar

Ellen A.

Yelp
Haven't been there in a while but I remember it for their great bbq. It's not fancy but very homey and friendly. The service was great but the food was delicious!!!!
google avatar

Lynn D.

Yelp
Use to love this place, I use to go to the one back in Anaheim quite a bit back in the day. The food here has always been amazing. Someone hit my car here the other day in the parking lot. Pretty upset about it. I guess the company doesn't have video or didn't wanna provide it. Prices have gone up, but I understand. Inflation right? I've always liked the vibe here.

Cycozangel23 ..

Yelp
Service was awesome The appetizers are good. Beef Barley Soup was my favorite part. The Unsweetened Ice tea was spoiled. It was refunded. Bbq meat was good. But between the bbq dip for the appetizers Baked beans and meat it's over kill it all tasted the same. The French fries looked awesome but tasted reheated Over all everyone with us enjoyed the main entries, appetizers, and soups but not the side dishes.
google avatar

Susann E.

Yelp
Obviously BBQ ribs not made the same day.not even brought warm. Flavorless food. Didn't bring full meal until we asked. Server didn't check if we needed anything until ready to go. I was very disappointed, as a kid I loved the bbq sauce. NEVER again. Prices are way overpriced. Not the prices shown here.$1 would be too much!
