It’s been about 25 years since I’ve been to Chris & Pitts. I didn’t realize there were any around still and came across the Bellflower location. I wasn’t sure if it would be as good as I remembered but I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was large and can accommodate a lot of guests plus there was ample parking in the front and back. I had the $16.95 steak special with mashed potatoes and gravy and upgraded the second side to a bowl of chili for $2.45. The chili was delicious and quite filling. The steak was on the smaller side but you can’t really complain for such a good price point plus it was the perfect amount of food once you include the mashed potatoes and large piece of garlic toast which was just as good as I had remembered! My husband had the steak and beef ribs and thought it was delicious. All in all, you can’t beat the price and the food still tastes homemade. No frills, just good old fashioned home cooking.

Went their the other day I ordered lunch rib beef ribs I was excited being there food came out kinda fast notice the food wasn't what was expected ribs were dry bread no flavor it seems like they just warmed it up, the waitress ask is everything ok I said if the ribs were made yesterday she said no she asked why I mentioned it hear that they were dry like they just warm them up Why should? Why would she bring a plate out to us like that? She should always have quality control before she takes that plate to our table taking that plate replacing it. When she came back the ribs were fresh and really good. Why didn't that happen the first time? Why send me old ribs? Were they trying to get rid of them from yesterday? I don't think I'll be going back over there. The food is bland not very flavorful. The ribs were okay but I wouldn't go back not for the amount of money that I have paid and a quality food that I received. It's unfortunate to have people working in establishment serving food like that to customers.

Google
It is a traditional place but they need to revamp, the ribs are dry and hard. The service was so-so. A for the beer, super cold.

Google
C&P are old school dining. You come here knowing what you get is good quality delicious food. Staff is super nice and the decor is a trip back in time. My husband sat under the picture of Ronald Reagan. The prices are fair, the bathroom is CLEAN and you will not be hungry once you leave, you WILL be dreaming about the next time you walk in, I can assure you!

Google

Google
The food is amazing. The portions are big. The staff is always so nice, attentive and always friendly. Been coming to this place for 20 yrs.

Google
My husband can remembers coming to the original location when he was 3 years old with his daddy. My husband has been a customer for 79 years. We live in Temecula. Whenever we come eat we always take ribs back to our friends that remember this restaurant. My husband is now introducing these ribs to younger generation. Please never close

Google
I ordered the six meat combo aprox $30I got home to discover the meat was burned to a crisp the fact that the cook looked at me before he fixing my order was the problem. I took the meat back to show the staff the burned food they were accommodating but the cook started arguing with me back and forth although they made him fix me another plate I didn't eat it because at this point it wouldn't be a good idea to eat his food so I threw everything away this is just a $30 loss and a lesson Learned

Yelp
A long time review that needed to be written. Oh the memories and the joy of this place. Discovered their baby back ribs, which were amazing, over, holy crap (severely dating myself here) 30 years ago! At this location. So, I short this spot has been around a long time!! Went again, well, 10 years ago with my dear late mom. She too lived Chris' & Pitt's! I miss her. Well, I think it's time to go back again. Now that we are working more in So Cal, looks like I will get to eat those delicious baby back ribs sooner than later! From the looks of it, not much has changed, except the price, inflation is a thing! For someone who doesn't like too much change, that is a good thing! Ribs, burgers, steaks, solid fixings! If you are craving that good good bbqey type grub, this is your place! They got you (well, i hope they still do!!).

Yelp
I have to say, my family has been eating at this joint for over 23 years...we used to frequent this place at least 2 times a month. Last time we were there we ordered ribs and they tasted like leftovers. I mentioned that to the manager as we were leaving and she said I should have told her earlier???? Bitch! Are you serious? You shouldn't be serving 2 day old ribs for your premium prices. Anyway, that was the last time and will NEVER EVER step back into that shithole. It's dirty, dated and now serves disgusting food. Just close it already... Obvious the family has no interest in this shithole.
google avatar

Paul C.

Yelp
Exec summary: Old school BBQ. This is where the locals go and frequent to the point they know the staff. Always a good sign Full disclosure: nothing in Cali will ever compete against Texas. Having said that, this is some of the best bbq I've had here I love the vibe, old school. No pretense or posing here. The wait staff are long time servers and I went with a local and the banter indicates that this is a spot I would love (were I closer ) Went for lunch , got the combo... Beef ribs are ok GET THE BABY BACK ribs!!!! Parking is confusing at first. Don't ask the google for directions. Summary: Loved the vibe. Loved the servers. Lives the baby back ribs

Yelp
I love this place. I was greeted & sat right away.Brenda was my server & was the best! I had the prime rib sandwich lean with Swiss cheese & a pepper steak. Their blue cheese dressing is the best in town!

Yelp
After hearing about the long history of Chris & Pitt's and never getting to try the locations in Orange County that eventually closed, I decided to come to the Bellflower location for lunch to see what I've been missing. When I walked in about noon it wasn't full yet, I was told I could sit anywhere and so I chose to walk towards the far end of the restaurant and sit by the windows. Eventually the restaurant got close to full during the time I was there. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich lunch special with a salad and their homemade blue cheese dressing as my one side. The salad came out promptly and I enjoyed the thick dressing, but the salad was basically just iceberg lettuce and served with saltine crackers. It then took a while for the pulled pork sandwich to come out and so I decided to order a half order of onion rings to eat along with the sandwich. The sandwich wasn't bad but the pulled pork was covered in BBQ sauce and that's all you really taste. The half order of onion rings were a good-sized portion, tasty and was served with a side of their BBQ sauce. As for my my server, she was grumpy and not pleasant when taking my order and never came by to check in or refill my drink. While I was eating, the couple sitting behind me told the server they had waited 25 minutes for their food, was no longer hungry, cancelled their order and left. When I was all done eating, I almost got up to go to the front register since I had to wait around for an eternity for the server before she delivered me my check.

Yelp
The takeout lunch was ok and reasonable had the fried shrimp tried the mashed potatoes and garlic bread is soft to be toasted. The salsa for the shrimp seems house-made. I tried it with a baked potato. For a bbq place not too many options for pescatarians.
google avatar

Dari P.

Yelp
Well, it seems that I ordered the same thing two times in a row, and it is still very good. Portions are very generous and I took home half of it. Service is excellent.
google avatar

Mark M.

Yelp
Great place for dinner! Had the rib steak, it was wonderful! Give it try! It won't disappoint you in anyway.
google avatar

Ronald E.

Yelp
Deluxe for two the best you won't regret having this don't know where to go try this place you will keep coming again and again everything is so delicious the ribs are so soft the the rest that comes with the deluxe for two is surprising try it out
google avatar

Edward R.

Yelp
I ordered the lunch rib plate it was very dry, the ribs were tough hardly any flavor over 30 bucks for lunch not going back waitresses were not friendly seemed to be bothered if you asked for anything I asked for a ice tea refill never got it
google avatar

Alex H.

Yelp
Classic Old Skool BBQ joint. Still has the same sawdust on the floor and sticky menus. Do not wear white clothing here! I always go with my favorite Beef ribs and a baked potato ... some times switching up a salad for Mac and Cheese.
google avatar

Yelp
The food is alright, I heard people kinda rave about this place but idk. It doesn't help the customer experience when the host is cold and un relatable especially when you notice it yourself yet choose not to say anything then another person comes in and turns to me and says exactly what I was thinking about the host being real short and could seem to care less. If I experienced this as well as another person in the same day, you know management knows.! The lady customer that I did have the chat with did say the Whittier location has better service than the other two locations, FYI. I have a pet peeve about expiration dates and the same lady bought their sauce in a bottle and one was expired, not good! (That was an eye opener to check no matter where you buy). Plenty of inside seating, kind of an old school diner vibe and plenty of parking. This place is not on the top of my to return list.

Yelp
Food at Chris' & Pitt's was just okay, expecting something grand in taste but did not stand out. The service, although polite and nice - this woman could care less about her job and how she is portrayed by customers. Asking myself, does she have a bad hangover and just can't do her job today? Ambiance is casual and tight. One try here was enough and will give other BBQ places a try before returning.

Eleny J.

Yelp
To start off they gave us the food almost cold was not hot at all. They were nice enough to bring us back to food but then eventually we heard between workers talking smack which is rude who ever they were talking about but to say it around costumers you don't do that. They need to do better. We weren't the only ones. they took their sweet time bringing us our drinks when we asked for a refill and completely ignored us. We kept our composure but we are disappointed in their working skills. We're never to come back again. No tip included.
google avatar

Alex Q.

Yelp
Food quality is ok but the portions are extremely big. This is the spot to come to if you're super hungry. I couldn't finish the rib combo and had some left over for the next day.

Yelp
Not pictured was the DELICIOUS Grilled Chicken Salad. I was so hungry I didn't think of taking photos! I wanted to take a risk by getting a non-bbq item at a typically bbq food place and I'm so happy I did. I started my meal with the chicken rice soup and it warmed me to my true core. I didn't know I could be tricked into eating celery but Chris' & Pitt's did it. I felt the need for a fresh bite and my salad did the trick. It was loaded with fresh lettuce (not the core or wilted parts you get at other restaurants), tomato, corn, hard boiled egg, pickles, cheese, grilled chicken, and a side a ranch. One day I'll try their homemade Blue Cheese dressing but I'm not ready to leave ranch...yet. I never had pickles on a salad and I've got to say, now it's a must have! To balance the salad out, you are served with a nice toasty piece of garlic bread. I didn't feel like I missed on the "hearty" meal experience with my salad. The grill on the chicken was delicious and dipping the bread in the au jus sauce, chefs kiss!

Yelp

Yelp
Been coming here since 2002. It's been downhill since 2020 or maybe even earlier. Every time, we come here.... hoping it will be better or just an off day. All of the waitresses that use to work here are no longer there. Ribs are microwaved. Not acceptable. Prices have increased to the point of no return. Even Golden Corral is a better option than this place now.
google avatar

Yaarah T.

Yelp
Delicious food and excellent service! Judy gives excellent service and makes us feel at home. Highly recommend this place. Everyone is super friendly and hard working
google avatar

Dave F.

Yelp
Come here with low expectations. The reviews posted below seem exaggerated or probably fake. I've been coming to different Chris and pitts for 40 years and something changed or went downhill. Food: beef ribs extra fatty and drenched in salty sauce. The sides seemed old and cafeteria like.... Service: Rude and depressing staff. No smiles or cheer from anyone. Ambiance: dirty dirtier and dirtiest place around. You feel slimy when you leave. Don't even try to park here it's awful and just dangerous. Well, let me tell you that they have the coldest damn beer around so I gave them two stars for that. Probably would never return other than just for a beer.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered baby back ribs, spare ribs, beef ribs, and my wife's favorite, "Hawaiian chicken". Everything was delicious and worth the long drive to get here. I just wish that the ribs were served hot at least warmer. I really liked dipping my fries in the baked beans and my wife absolutely loved the Hawaiian chicken. It was notable that the food at this location is much better than the Downey location. I just wish the Downey restaurant would improve its quality of food and service.
google avatar

Jamey H.

Yelp
I like it they should update the dining room but the food is still good. I wish they sold their bread it's so good.
google avatar

Estella S.

Yelp
Let's not forget why Chris & Pitt's has been around for so long.....food consistency remain on point. The chicken n rice soup even on a hot day is satisfying. Ample portions at reasonable prices... you can't go wrong. Parking is a bit challenging and the interior is showing it's age a bit but the food makes up for it.

Yelp
My wife and I ordered takeout from Chris and Pitts tonight through Grub Hub. 1/2 barbecue chicken dinner with barbecue sauce, baked potato sour cream chives on baked potato and salad with blue cheese dressing. It also comes with garlic bread . I ordered the same meal 2 years ago at their take out window. Grub Hub delivered it timely and perfectly. It was packaged exactly the same way it was 50 years ago when I had it with my mother and father it in Culver City . Now that I found it on Grub Hub we will order it mor frequently.

Yelp
I was a little concerned about coming back here but I was happy I did. My prime rib French dip sandwich was excellent. The salad was crisp and fresh and the ranch dressing was delicious. Service was good . The ambiance was " western casual " ( it's a bbq place after all ) The lack of parking is the only negative. Large menu , daily specials are a plus. Worth trying out.

Yelp
My wife and I have been coming here for about 20 years and in the beginning this was literally my favorite steakhouse to go to. But over the years we've seen the decline in service, quality and of course price. Now I'm not one to complain about price if what I'm paying for is worth it. But Chris n Pitts has increased their prices yet the food has declined, especially the steaks. Every single time we come I get the Porterhouse Steak. I don't know specifically when but a few years back I noticed the porterhouse was much thinner than usual. I didn't really say anything and figured it was just a bad cut. Well let me tell you it wasn't a bad cut. All of their porterhouse steaks are maybe a 1/2 inch thick if you're lucky. That's ridiculous for over $42 !!!!! The last one I got last week was literally maybe 1/4 inch thick smh. The honeymoon is over I guess. They will no longer get my money because I won't be returning.
google avatar

Ernesto S.

Yelp
5 stars solely on the homemade ranch dressing and mash potatoes with gravy !!!! Whatever you get make sure to at least get one of these!
google avatar

Brooke W.

Yelp
Used to go to the one in Whittier on Washington before it closed down, which was next to perfect. This one was decent, but the one thing that was a bummer? One of the halves of my baby backs had the silver skin or the membrane still attached on on the underside. I love Chris and Pitts as much as the next person but please just do a little better. Easy fix.

Nel L.

Yelp
Wait time was okay. Food was cold 2 of us got our food. (Wrong order) Other 2 had to wait 30 more minutes for their food. As I sit here right now 1/2 of our table is still waiting for their food Chris and Pitts used to be the place to go for BBQ. But not anymore. Won't be back

Yelp
This is a step back in time. Old restaurant, wood panels and the smell of smoke from the street. I was greeted at the front by a friendly hostess and grabbed a booth near the front. The place was bigger than it appeared with double the tables in the back. We started off with a couple cold Buds and a blooming onion, served with ranch and bbq sauce. It was The BEST blooming onion I've ever had. Well seasoned, perfectly battered and cooked spot on. One more round of beers , this is starting well. I thought I figured out the diverse menu with a steak and ribs but opted for the Daily Special top sirloin $15 instead Included salad and a side. The salad was large and cold, fresh iceberg, decent blue cheese dressing. The beans were under oar, wonder what would have been better. fThe steak served on a large hot platter looked sad. Tasted equally. It was a chewy piece of meat, good smokey accent from the grill, but poor quality. Sad. Service was a Standout. We were checked on constantly and made to feel like we could get whatever we needed. Even the cashiers were super cool and we chatted. Maybe I missed on my order, perhaps I needed to just go regular menu and maybe a better cut. But it is, what it is. Drinks and an appetizer and tgen go to dinner elsewhere.

Lisa D.

Yelp
The 3 stars is not due to the food or the service!!! The food here is great the ladies that work here are even better. The PROBLEM is that these poor employees are working in filth. There is a broken air conditioner. These girls and guys sweat so bad trying to take care of the customers and when your employees are all sweaty, it's kind of offputting. Not to mention in the winter when it rains on these poor employees inside because the roof leaks so bad. Come on Chris and Pitts. You guys do pretty good business. use syour money to fix this place for these people. Your employees work extremely hard at this location. They deserve better. Not to mention you're going to start losing a lot of customers and your other locations have already closed down so I would hate to see this location suffer as well. Great food great employees great service horrible ambience.
google avatar

Dan N.

Yelp
When you walk in your in a different time zone. You get that old school feeling when you sit and get served by nice people who by the way are taking very good care of you! The food well it's good for a hometown type of place. If you're used to good ole fashion BBQ and service then this is the place for you. Don't skip on their Chili it's delicious along with the chicken fried steak and beef ribs
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place been going to for over 30 years food and service is usually very good and prices are decent.

Yelp
I used to love C & P when the Anaheim location was open. Good food, portions and affordable. Went to this one to try and see if it's just as good. They have lunch specials (about $16), a lunch menu with more choices and a dinner menu. I ordered one of the lunch specials since I wasn't super hungry and not trying to go overboard. Ended up getting the 1/4 chicken and beef rib with a baked potato. The chicken was alright, the beef rib was not even warm and very little meat, plus it was gristly. Not what I expected it to be. Also my baked potato was just wrapped in foil, cafeteria style. Not even sliced in half. I looked at it like, really? Bread and butter was also provided with my plate, which wasn't bad. Not sure what changed but the food wasn't as amazing as I remember. I miss the old location !! Too bad. Service was OK here, nothing good nor bad. *Pro tip, they do have a take out window for grab to-go which is nice. And the parking lot is tiny and a dead-end, so avoid this if possible. Especially if you have an SUV or truck
google avatar

Tod W.

Yelp
Great Baby back Ribs and good service , felt like good home cooking, and I also had a salad and the Blue cheese dressing was delicious, reminded me of Bob's Blue Cheese dressing that I always loved. The also had Beer on tap! In an ice cold Schooner!
google avatar

Carlos M.

Yelp
My food was good not one of the best barbecue places I've gone to my chicken was a little dry and they were cheap with the barbecue sauce
google avatar

Sherilyn F.

Yelp
I had spare ribs, beans & salad..daughter had burger & fries..my 30 yr old kid's bday & although bit of drive from Anaheim..what she wanted..All food good, except baked beans different from decade b4..Service a bit lazy-seems these ladies working 4 yrs, parking horrible & unfortunately I had to use bathroom- long drive- unisex & pee all over floor...really nasty...
google avatar

Neo A.

Yelp
Food is below average. Pull pork sandwich had the consistency of a sloppy Joe. Sirloin steak was tasteless. It's an old dinner style. Our 1st time here and will not go back. Just wanted to say we tried it. Service was good. I love BBQ and this was just not what I expected
google avatar

Diana E.

Yelp
Family friendly , they treat you well. You can expect the same service and food every time.

Randy H.

Yelp
Today is a sad day for Chris and Pitt's. I have been coming here for over 50 years. I had the worse tasting bbq beef sandwich I have ever had. I guess they changed their meat it is like pot roast covered in bbq sauce. Love their sauce but the meat was sour tasting and stringing I think they us to use brisket but today is long stringy beef. Chili tasted great as usual but just a little too watery and for me I wish they did not put so many onions in it. Everything else was great
google avatar

Nicole P.

Yelp
My review is for the service. I stopped for a quick snack as I was charging my car. Didn't have time to truly enjoy a large meal so I grabbed a small salad and a side of mac and cheese. Bleu cheese dressing was everything! I always know small diners have the best bleu cheese for some reason. The Mac and cheese was just ok- a little bland, not too cheesy, but hey- this is a bbq spot so I'm sure the bbq is as fantastic as the place smells. Anyway- SHOUT OUT TO TINA!!! She offered to help me at the window but then suggested I come inside to order and look at a menu as it was a little cold outside. She was inviting, smiling, nice and really helpful. She was always extremely helpful to her team. Anything they needed she was there to lend a helping hand. Super happy I stumbled upon this little gem! Everyone was really nice, but my girl Tina- you are a rockstar, keep it up!!!

Yelp
I've loved Chris and pitts for 40 years now. Great people great food fair prices. I want wanting to go tonight but it didn't work out but there's always tomorrow night God wiilong

Yelp
Chris n Pitt's is a local institution. Ive been a customer since the early 1970's. First the Downey location then Bellflower. The food and service was always consistent. Better tasting food in the early days. This visit to the Bellflower location had me ordering bbq beef ribs (5 bones) with beans, steak fries, and a dinner salad with Italian dressing. I was reminded of why I don't order the bbq beef ribs here. They're not bad. They're just not really pleasant. Think of it this way. If you've never had bbq beef ribs before, you'll like these. They're flavorful but toothy and a bit dry. By the time you get through one of them, you literally have meat crammed in between every one of your teeth. Its painful. It's not good. The meat should be tender juicy and pretty much, fall off the bone. At least that's how I make them at home. The 1/2 grilled sandwich roll on the plate is more a garnish than anything. It doesn't really add to the experience. The beans are good. The fries seemed like the end of the batch. Dark, crispy little pieces with a few larger ones here and there. The salads are always pleasantly refreshing. Dressings tasty as ever. This rib experience reminded me of my last visit to this location I ordered a porterhouse steak medium rare. It was dry and full of gristle. It was not a pleasant experience. It's sad (very sad) to say that when I get close to this location, I usually end up at the Golden Corral next door. *Each visit here the service was great although when sitting in the front area, the servers are quite chatty with each other and it can be a bit much hearing about work drama and their personal lives.

Marie R.

Yelp
Ribs are great and I love that Chris n Pitts carries Thrifty ice cream. Must try this place. It doesn't disappoint. Staff is friendly.

Yelp
What can I say that I'm sure already hasn't been said. Been a staple of our family for decades as I'm sure it has been for other families as well. There's a reason people always go back. Come find out for yourselves!

Linda G.

Yelp
Food is always great here, the servings portions is great as well as taste, good atmosphere for children and adults and the elderly

Michelle M.

Yelp
I have been eatting at Chris and pits since the 60,s and use to be very goid. I just went to the Bellflower restaurant yesterday and it was awful!! I ordered chicken and ribs with salad and beans. My chicken and rib was burnt and both dry. The beans are different and not good. Sadly the kitchen was dirty and the cook appeared sloooy. Our waitress was very good and didn't charge for my meal so I give her a Goood thoughtful waitress. Sadly I won't be going back.

Jim B.

Yelp
My father always told me if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything. But I'd subscribe to that saying. As a kid we always liked going to Chris and Pitts because they had such great food. I had been to this location once before and that's why we decided to drive more than 40 miles to come and eat here tonight. Unfortunately, we were sadly disappointed. We ordered the rib combo which came with two small salads and we ordered a baked potato along with the four baby back ribs two spare ribs and two beef ribs. The baby back ribs were anything but baby, they were huge, which means they were Going to be tough, which they were. The spare ribs as well were extremely large and equally as tough and dry as well. The beef ribs were OK, the potato was good, and the salad was very good however, the old saying that you can't go home again definitely applies here. We likely won't make the 40+ mile trip ever again.

Yelp
Didn't get a chance to eat Walked in after a long day of work been wanting to try this place for a while now . When we walked the hostess looked us up and down and said for two? We said yes please she said ok wait for her to sit you. We said thank you and waited, an older women comes to sit us she's wearing a face mask and is fixing it grabs two menus and walks away we followed her and she just dropped the menus on table and walked away, not aggressively but more like irritated. So I looked at my sister and we both said I don't they want us here, she said right I don't feel comfortable eating here anymore. We were walking away and told the hostess thank you but we will pass and she just waved us goodbye like a shoo shoo type of way. So disappointed hope this wasn't personal but we def got the hint and left.
