The 14 Best Restaurants & Hotels In Wilmington, Delaware - The Infatuation

"Stop by Christa-Bells for excellent Guyanese takeout, specifically the delicious jerk chicken and salmon, macaroni and cheese, plantains, and curry goat. They usually have a special of the day, like oxtails, but everybody can find something here they like: there’s fried whiting and curry shrimp and vegetarian options like platters served with beans and rice and your choice of pumpkin, collards, or eggplant. Go before 11am, as they sometimes sell out." - Maddy Sweitzer Lamme

The restaurant was clean & service was welcoming & friendly. The food was fresh & packaged in front of us. Everything was delicious!! I had curry chicken with cook up added (it was amazing!!) The oxtails and shrimp fried rice is everything!! My only slight complaint is that the oxtails could’ve been a little more tender but let me tell you…this is hands down the BEST Caribbean food I’ve had in Delaware. Please support this wonderful restaurant 🖤

Based on my photo you know how i felt about it. Pictured is a side of plantains , Mac and cheese , jerk chicken + rice/beans + cabbage. Best West Indian food I’ve tasted in Delaware so far - definitely would visit again. Would recommend to everyone!

Google
This place I can not praise enough. I have been coming to them for years and each time I am quite impressed. I have never had a complaint about any of the food we have bought and ate there. The staff is always polite and answers any questions you may have. I love the fact that you can see all the food and exactly what they are/are not doing while fixing your plates. Very nice clean establishment. I don’t live close to them but I will drive for good food. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you want fresh cooked food that is delicious.

Google
An amazing experience for your taste buds. All other options for Caribbean-inspired food will be nullified after eating this food. Order to your liking. Get the rice & beans, if you like it. It's delicious. But you do yourself a disservice if you don't get the cooked up rice. It's a meal in itself and goes GREAT with any of the dishes. And don't sleep on the spinach/collard greens side dish. Oh, and get there early because they will run out.

Food is delicious !! I ordered the lemon honey salmon with cabbage rice and peas, beef ribs with shrimp fried rice and cabbage. And a salmon cake. The salmon was cooked and seasoned to perfection and went really well with the rice and peas. The beef ribs and shrimp fried rice were also delicious. The salmon cake was good (I don't really like salmon cakes just tried a piece of my mans) didn't hate it like I usually do best salmon cake I've ever tried. Only complaint is the cabbage was a little plain but if you're like me and you mix it with everything else it's fine. Highly recommend giving this place a try you won't regret it especially if you get the salmon Sn: It's a small business and they're working their way through the pandemic and all of its curve balls, so If you want somthing in particular I recommend giving them a call to be sure its on the menu for that day.

Best OXTAILS I ever had in my life and I’ve had a lot of ox! Soft and very flavorful even my 5 year loved it! The young lady at the counter possibly the owner was super nice I had a pain in my chest she gave me water and told me to get some drink tea or bowl ginger and drink it! -TashaNicole

Yelp
As many Caribbean/ Jamaican places go the staff aren't very friendly. But it's to be expected. My experience wasn't the best. The were orders flying, when I arrived so I assume it would be well enough to take home. I was wrong. Not only was my dish inedible, by the time I called they were closed. The pepper steak could cut leather. Sometimes you just chalk it up to bad choices. I won't be back anytime soon.

Yelp
Customer service was great and food is enough to last me to meals. I hope they bring roti back on the menu!

Yelp
I can not say enough about this place here as almost everything I have bought from here is seasoned and cooked to perfection. It does not take them long to fix your platter and serve you. Their food is out where you can see what you are getting. Anytime I am in the area I pick up dinner here. Something different for me and very tasty. When you're in the area you may want to stop and check it out.

Yelp
The best service and the food was so delicious! We had a fabulous birthday dinner with the food we ordered.

Yelp
Went here today and I loved the atmosphere until I felt as though I was being rushed to order when you could hear if a pin dropped. If I'm in a Caribbean eatery you would think you guys would learn supply and demand by now by not running out of hot commodity things such as "beef Pattie's", however my love got me an oxtail and rice which was amazing! But the customer service I received while here especially on a non busy time period was discomforting. And this comes from an entrepreneur and business woman. My suggestion is just to work on customer service and you will be in business for a long time. It will take you way further than the actual platter! Blessings 2 for the service. 4 for the food

Yelp
A true hidden gem. The food was delicious, portions are huge, and prices can't be beat. I ordered a honey-lemon salmon platter and it was fantastic. It came with a side of rice and peas and cabbage and I added a side of Mac and cheese (hefty portion for a side order). The ladies who worked there were extremely pleasant and the kitchen itself was spotless. They also have homemade juices that are delicious. Do yourself a favor and try it out!

Yelp
I tried Christa-Bell's for the first time today and it was a bit of a let down. All I ordered was rice & pea, cabbage and plantains which totaled $7. Not bad price wise. The rice & pea is standard but the cabbage...bland. No flavor or smell. I was concerned when I opened the bag and I didn't really smell anything. Maybe today was an off day or maybe the cook/owner will see this and make a change.

Yelp
Great food and pastries, decent portions and friendly staff. I would absolutely recommend!!!!

Yelp
The food was really good... The rice/peas and cabbage were good. The Short Ribs so Tender and Flavorful (the sauce was delicious). My family also enjoyed the food. They had curry shrimp, jerk salmon and jerk chicken. Everyone agreed everything tasted good. I would recommend this place to anyone. The food is fresh and the portions are great.

Yelp
what can I say other than this is the most amazing value/taste combination you will ever get. A "small" curry chicken platter for 6 dollars you can literally eat for 2 meals. I ask my wife who's from the Ukraine if you can get a meal of this caliber for this price in her home country where the exchange rate is 1 to 26 and she said no. And earlier this week I had a cold salad from the office cafeteria for 8 dollars+. So far I have tried the jerk chicken, curry chicken, jerked salmon, pepper steak, and the curry shrimp, and ox tail. All were fantastic with the exception of the pepper steak, which I thought was a little too salty. Other than that, only slight negative is that even though all the popular dishes will be there, they will most likely not have everything on the menu. We go in with usually a big order for the office of 10 or more meals once a week for the last few months and green beans, and okra have not yet been seen. But what they do have is still plenty and all great both in taste and in variety. A++++ all around. They have a couple of tables but this is not a sit down place but great for takeout for dinner for the family or if you just want to pig out yourself:-) Fantastic, keep up the great work, my only suggestion is if there are some items are only going to be prepared occasionally, take it off the menu so that we don't get our hopes up:-) Awesome food, friendly staff and AMAZING VALUE.

Yelp
Went for lunch early so I am assuming the food was fresh as it was already prepared and in chaffing dishes. This makes for a quick take out but I prefer freshly made seafood. I had the curry shrimp and rice with cabbage. The food was yummy but I've definitely have had better Caribbean food. Also the portion was rather small for a $10 platter. I am use to Caribbean take out that's loaded with food but this had the right amount for one sitting. There was a Guyana flag so I am assuming that's the food that is served there very similar to other West Indian food I didn't really notice a difference as far as seasoning. I took my food to go but they do have a couple tables if you want to eat in but it's very small inside. Overall good quality for the price and well seasoned so I would return!

Yelp
Went here on a Saturday planning to eat something of value and the woman serving the food refused to sell me any food of value but flirted with every man who entered the business. She had no plantains, jerk chicken, carrot cake but pound cake. The rice and beans plus the cabbage lacked any seasoning or flavor. Totally disgusting. Hospital food taste better. The pound cake was terrible. A waste of time and money! I was told to visit another eatery in the area but was Hell Bent on Caribbean food.

Yelp
Amazing food, convenient service, fair prices. Best Caribbean food I've had in Delaware (sorry D&H- also still good but this place takes the crown for me. I like Bahama Breeze too, but this place is better)

Julie M.

Yelp
What a great place to get Caribbean take out! My first time here and I ordered the large chicken stew platter. All platters come with rice and beans or white rice and cabbage. Food tasted great and was an awesome value for the price, nice portions. Some of their small platters are only $6...can't beat that! Also the service was quick and accurate. Everything is made earlier that day and dished out of chaffing dishes which is super convenient for anyone in a hurry for Lunch. If you are in the Wilmington area I would highly suggest skipping the overpriced restaurants and trying out this small business.

Yelp
This is an amazing Caribbean Restaurant! The food is delicious and the portions are big. You will love all her specials !

Yelp
If you are looking for a good local Caribbean food spot in Delaware, do yourself a favor and try this new restaurant on Union street. It has only been open for about three weeks and they are still trying to figure out supply/demand. I stopped in today around 7 PM (1hr before they close). They were out of rice and pea and a few other items... They were more upset about it than I was and made up for not having the items I ordered by substituting items and discounting my bill. This gave me the opportunity to try items I wouldn't try if I had to pay full price. They explained that they only serve food made the same day. The prices are pretty good ($9 for a large platters). Two people could easily eat a large. I picked up curry goat for my husband, curry chicken for me and jerk chicken for us to split. Needless to say we had so much left over. The curry was the best I've tasted in Delaware. Most places that have goat on their menu either don't make it during the week or makes very little. I hate places with goat on their menu, but never have it available when ordered. The jerk chicken was pretty good. I prefer my jerk chicken cooked on a grill, but the jerk seasoning was still good. The restaurant is small. Two tables with two chairs at each and three bar stools at a high counter. It looks clean and the staff is very friendly. I believe the owner was a cook at Gennell's. I will definitely go back. I can't wait to try salmon escovitch, metemgee (run down stew) and sorrell juice just to name a few. They are open just in time for the West Side art loop May 5.

Yelp
The roti & cook up rice are my favs. Everything is delicious. Don't sleep on this shop!
