I have seen many posts about Christine's Firehouse in the past and have wanted to try it for a long time. Last week I saw a post that said they were disappointed. That the tenderloin was bland and the breading was falling off. So, that made me want to go find out for myself. My son and I went for lunch today. We ordered a tenderloin with tots and an extra bun. It only took a few minutes and our food arrived. It was blazing hot 🔥. Clearly made to order and not sitting under a heat lamp. It was HUGE! And even better, it was absolutely delicious! Nice, crispy breading, and perfectly seasoned. We could not have been happier with our lunch! Even took a big piece home to my wife. Fed 3 people for $15! We will definitely be back, and to anyone that sees a negative review, I would encourage you to go try it. It really is amazing. It was a great, friendly environment as well.

This place is a hidden gem. Walking by it you would never guess this was inside! A great day sitting bar, regular takes and high tops. Service was the best part of it all and that says a lot! This was top two for Breaded Pork Tenderloins in my life! The meat was the perfect thickness, the breading was crispy and DID NOT TASTE LIKE FRYER OIL! The Sloppy Joe had a very good taste and spice! The Beer Battered Fries were very good as well.

Last February (2024), I had the pleasure of dining at Christine’s Firehouse in North Kansas City, Missouri, and it turned out to be a memorable experience shared with my father and his friend. This restaurant is a local gem, famous for its incredible breaded and fried pork tenderloin sandwich, and, as you step inside, you can't help but notice the vibrant firefighter-themed memorabilia adorning the walls. It truly sets the scene! Our journey to discovering Christine’s Firehouse began when my mother was cutting a customer’s hair at their home. Out of the blue, the customer’s spouse walked in carrying a tenderloin sandwich from this very place. My mother was astounded by its size—she exclaimed, “That is a HUGE sandwich!” Intrigued, she took a bite and was blown away, declaring it the “best pork tenderloin sandwich” she had ever tasted. Now, a classic pork tenderloin sandwich usually features a fried piece of meat paired with the traditional garnishes of lettuce, tomato, and onion on a bun. However, Christine’s Firehouse elevates this standard to a whole new level. You get to customize your experience, choosing from raw horseradish, creamy horseradish sauce, or good old mayonnaise. Plus, if you're feeling ambitious, they even offer an extra bun for those who want to make a second sandwich with the generous portions they serve! When we arrived, my father deftly sliced off a chunk of his pork tenderloin and loaded it onto that extra bun. Together, we topped our sandwiches with fresh veggies and a drizzle of sauce, and let me tell you—each bite was a flavor explosion! We even for a side of French fries with our meal. Within no time, Dad and I knew we had to return to Christine’s Firehouse not once, but two or three more times, just to indulge in that outstanding sandwich again. The ambiance at Christine’s Firehouse complements the feast beautifully. With “firehouse” right in the name, it's no surprise to find firemen’s jackets hanging from the ceiling, fire helmets lining the walls, and toy fire trucks adorning the corner. To top it all off, there’s even a quirky bottle cap fire hydrant behind the bar! Alongside the firefighting decor, the restaurant boasts a collection of vintage automotive memorabilia, including a charming old-school gas station pump and a modern jukebox that invites you to kick back and enjoy the vibe. The buzz about their phenomenal tenderloin sandwich is palpable, with countless Five-Star reviews lighting up their Google Maps page. Honestly, I take great pride in stating that Christine's Firehouse serves the best-breaded pork tenderloin sandwich in the Kansas City area. It’s hard not to agree when you experience the sheer size of that sandwich and the option to snag an extra bun for sharing. I do not doubt that anyone who experiences this culinary delight firsthand will be equally amazed and will gladly recommend Christine’s Firehouse to family and friends for their next gathering. If customers are in Kansas City and looking for a delicious food adventure, they need to visit Christine’s Firehouse in North Kansas City, Missouri.

Went in for lunch today. Every table was dirty. We sat at a table that needed to be cleaned for about 10 minutes and were never acknowledged. Looks like things have changed. Won’t make the drive again. Probably the best tenderloin I’ve ever had and the biggest!! It could easily feed 4! My husband that doesn’t like tenderloins even said he wished he had ordered it. He had the French dip said it was good, just the bottom bread got a little soggy. Chicken quesadillas for the baby, another hit. The tots and fries were perfect. Drinks were never empty. Great service. Clean bathrooms and in street parking. My new go-to for tenderloins!!

Google
I picked Christine's off of a picture on Google maps of a big tenderloin sandwich, and it did not disappoint. Food came out fast, and was delicious. I would definitely recommend...

Google
This tenderloin is HUGE. Heard a lot about this place. It was delicious 😋 idk who pounded these out, but they were so thin you could cut out 2 bun-sized patties and make it a double-decker and STILL have some more tenderloin left over❣️ and the $6.99 fried shrimp appetizer was such a great starter 👌 big, fat, perfectly breaded, good sized portions of yumminess!🥰

Google
Staff was friendly, service is excellent. I had the Pork Tenderloin Sandwich and Beer Battered Fries. The food was amazing. Best Pork Tenderloin Sandwich I have had. I definitely will be going back

Google
My hubs and I decided to try Christine's Firehouse last Sunday after church as we heard it had the best pork tenderloin in KC-WOW, the service was great, atmosphere was fun, patrons were awesome and friendly and the tab was reasonable-MAKE your place to go meet a friend, have a date night or go people watch. LOVE North KC!!!

Yelp
I had read about the BPT and folks were right. Might have to park away a bit if you are dragging a trailer as I was. 5 choices of potatoes. Do it

Yelp
Great vibe, cold beer and pretty damn good food. Went for the tenderloin of course. I was not disappointed.

Yelp
This place was absolutely amazing!! The food the service and the ambiance were 10/10! This place is decorated so cute and is so comfortable. I loved it! My husband and I got the tenderloin and shared it and it was big enough for us to both eat and take some home for dinner! Their fries were amazing and I legit just loved it all around.

Yelp
For a long time I've heard about this locally famous restaurant. I have friends who eat here all the time. This place is about as local as you can get. It's the place where, truly, everyone knows your name. The food is standard bar fare. Fried mushrooms, onion rings, fried pickles, potato skins and such for appetizers. Nothing unusual or unique for appetizers. We had the breaded mushrooms and they were very good. Main dishes include hamburgers, taco salad, wings, nachos and so much more. They have plenty of salad choices, as well. Their main draw is the pork tenderloin. It's HUGE. Seriously. It's gigantic. It's so big the menu says it comes with a to-go container. LOL. It's easily the size of a large dinner plate. The food is good despite it being bar fare. I had a beer battered po boy and it was very good. The beer battered fries were equally tasty. You certainly won't go hungry at this restaurant. The service was great. We had a very nice and professional server. He was polite and attentive. He added to our dining experience, for sure. All the other servers seemed equally as efficient and good at their craft. This restaurant was easy to access and it did not take us long to get a table. You could tell there were quite a few regulars who seemed right at home. So many restaurants are losing that local feel. We aren't regulars but we were right at home, as well. Everyone made us feel welcome There's nothing fancy about anything anything in this restaurant. The theme is firefighters. They have some interesting firefighting decor displayed about the restaurant. It was interesting to look at all the knickknacks. They have quite an eclectic collection. The artifacts alone are worth a star.

Yelp
We went Christne's to hear the music last night. Howard Mahon was the special guest. It was also open to anyone. I enjoyed it because you got to hear other types of music. Guitarists all had a special talent, some we novice but others were very good. The wait staff was really attentive and helpful. We all ordered the tenderloin sandwich, which is huge! We could have split it, ordered an extra bun and still had a huge sandwich left for each of us. One of our group had the hamburger with bacon, cheese and bacon. He said it was good too. If you are going to converse it is probably not the place for you, the band is really loud. But if you are going to hear music it was a fun place. A few people were dancing in a small area. We sat by the door in front and it was cold when the door opened but when traffic died down it was fine.

Yelp
OK, I will admit I went here for the first time because my original target lunch destination was PACKED. But what a nice surprise! Nice menu, cool vibe, happy bartender. The food was tasty and came out fast. if you are looking for a quick bite in NKC, or maybe a little happy hour dive action, this is the place. Very fun. I'll do it again. It is much better being flexible!!
google avatar

Jacob H.

Yelp
Live music is a really cool environment. Great spot to watch sporting games, good drink deals.

Yelp
Fun little dive bar in NKC with awesome tenderloins! I stopped in last weekend to try a tenderloin to go and wasn't disappointed. The establishment is pretty small and it was packed because they had a live band. The band was fun so we ended up staying to have a few drinks and an app. They don't have drink menus and they don't have specials but most drinks are between $3-4. We tried the fried mushrooms and they came out super fast. They were delicious and I'd get them again. We also got the tenderloin and added an extra bun. The sandwiches are huge! They were well made with a nice crunchy coating but still juicy and not dried out. I opted for the beer battered fries for a side. They were also good. The service was awesome considering how busy they were and how loud it was. I was surprised that the waitress could even hear the order.

Yelp
Good pork tenderloin sandwich and the atmosphere was fun. Built in an old firehouse, with lots of fire station pictures.

Yelp
I read about this place and their very large tenderloin sandwiches. So, I am thinking how they get it so big. Is the meat pounded very thin. They show a picture of the meat on a bin, is this a very small bun. We gave it a try. What a great sandwich. To my skepticism: the meat is the perfect thickness. The bun is a regular size bun. The tenderloin is huge. Have included a fork in the picture so you can get a feel for how big this is. Two of us ate got one sandwich and even in that we took home half of the tenderloin. Love how on the menu they offer to get another bun with toppings, which we did (slight additional charge). It also comes with a side. We got French fries. They were very good and a huge serving, more than we could finish. Just about everyone we saw was getting a container to take home their leftovers. And the pricing, very reasonable or almost cheap. All around a great place to go. Can't wait to go back. They have a lot of other things on their menu that we want to try. Very casual atmosphere with cordial servers

Nolan W.

Yelp
Food is absolutely flawless every time. The pork tenderloins are to die for! Only complaint is when bands are playing it seems service gets a bit slow. I don't care. I wait an eternity for that massive, perfect breaded pork tenderloin. Cheers CFH!

Yelp
I don't write bad reviews, it's just not my style. I think the tenderloin is huge and if that's what your looking for get to this place pronto. Maybe don't go for the tenderloin flavor or the fried pickles. Highlights: the wings were great, juicy, flavorful, deliciousness. The twisted battered fries, whoa, paired with the ranch and I felt like I could exist on them, exclusively, yet I didn't finish them because I was too busy raving and sharing them around the table. There's not a lot of ambiance but I gather people don't come here for that. Also, it's described as a dive bar so you can't really expect swank. People come for drink specials and the tenderloin that comes with a meme of the blonde guy staring in bewilderment. UGE. The server immediately offered us a margarita happy hour special, sat down a few minutes before it was over, a few of us obliged and they promptly returned on the hour to tell us happy hour was over, per the bartender. My disappointment was as understated as an oversized tenderloin. The pickles came about 10 to a basket and the flavor of the oil was pronounced. The bottom line, dad came in from out of town and found this joint on a FB page created just for the "pursuit of pork tenderloins" and he loved it. That says a lot. Bring a friend, you'll need them to help you finish this Texas sized tenderloin!

Yelp
Good food with generous portions. We had good service-even on a busy day! We will go back
google avatar

Taylor N.

Yelp
After a hike we were craving a tenderloin sandwich. Ordered for take out one Pork Tenderloin Sandwich to split and it was so good! Easily fed 2 of us with leftovers for just $16, tasty, crispy curly fries on the side were also good. Definitely worth the stop.
google avatar

Connie N.

Yelp
Great food and service. Get there early. Tenderloin will feed two. Easy to find and great parking

Lauren P.

Yelp
The food and atmosphere were amazing! I deducted two stars due to lack of service and rudeness. It is a seat yourself type of day. We asked to sit outside since it was 79 and beautiful out! The hostess/waitress then proceeded to tell us that if we sit outside you may not be served a lot due to "it's hard to get back there". No biggie. We ordered our food and drinks inside then went outside to eat when everything arrived. The place was slow. Day before Labor Day. She never checked on us once until she rushed us for the check and to go boxes. A group next to us walked out because they were never served or checked on. We did get a "service fee" on our bill which was for "outdoor service". But like I said-food was amazing. Try and not let the service deter you
google avatar

Meredith S.

Yelp
Their staff has never really been particularly kind. But I did used to love going here for performance nights to watch some really great musicians. I heard the food is good, but I only really had beer.

Colten R.

Yelp
Place was clean, busy and quick to serve! One of the best Tenderloins I've had, breaded to perfection and the pork was cooked perfectly. Be ready to have leftovers!

Helen M.

Yelp
Last night I was at the Firehouse. Sunday night is Jam night and the music was outstanding. Split a Ruben and beer fires it was good and reasonable. I highly recommend it! You won't be sorry.

Nancy S.

Yelp
So much fun! Live music, easy parking and great pork tenderloin sandwiches! So huge we split one and still couldn't finish. Super tender and crust stayed on. Service excellent

Chris W.

Yelp
the owner is a horrible, the food is bland... terrible seasoning(none), the god awful bands that play this place, the health violations alone are ridiculou... undercooked and will def leave you sick or in the hospital.
google avatar

Susan F.

Yelp
The pictures made us do it... I'll be the first to admit I was curious to see what the hipe was all about with the huge Tenderloin sandwich. Ventured in during lunch on a Tuesday. The special of the day was tacos and margaritas, which was the route I took. I let my husband take on the Tenderloin. My tacos were a disappointment. The shells were very stale tasting, and the ground beef tasted like they may also use it on Chilli dogs? The Tenderloin came out massive as pictured with a tiny bun (maybe it makes their meat look bigger lol?). The chicken itself was ok, but the breading was fairly salty and the oil it was cooked in seemed old. Overall probably my first and last visit unfortunately.

Ja’nice R.

Yelp
Great food. Live bands. Great menu choices. Good variety of all things. Love it. Bring friends and enjoy.
google avatar

Robbin M.

Yelp
The pork tenderloin was amazing! My husband got the Reuben and was equally impressed.

Carol S.

Yelp
WOW... you're only welcomed at Christine's Firehouse if you're there to eat. Was not allowed to grab a small table to drink and enjoy the jam with a friend. Went somewhere else and dropped a $50. You see me there again...
google avatar

Yelp
I will go to Christine's Firehouse in North KC when my grandparents are in town because they LOVE the food & the environment. I have become a HUGE fan of the Pork Tenderloin Sandwich and the Fried Pickle Chips. Highly recommend going here to try out their massive Pork Tenderloin Sandwich. You won't leave hungry!! Food is great. Service is phenomenal. Environment is awesome!
google avatar

Dottie K.

Yelp
First off Shawn our server was as fantastic. Waited on a large group. Never wrote a thing down and got it all correct!!! Shawn also recommended the Rueben!! An absolute winner! The corned beef is smoked in house and it is perfect!!! Best Rueben I have ever eaten! I have eaten hundreds! Everything was delicious. We are in town from North West Arkansas and we will return in the future!! Food and service were both outstanding! Check it out!
google avatar

Adam E.

Yelp
Solid little bar, friendly people, everyone knows everyone except me because it was my first time. I'd like to try more food for sure and come down here to watch a Sporting KC game, if they had it on.

Lesli H.

Yelp
The Tenderloin was fantablous!!! It was ready with in about 7-10 minutes alot quicker than we expected. It was HUGE!!!! It had good seasoning and you could tell it was not a frozen. I cannot speak highly enough about the food. The service on the other hand sucked we felt like the bartenders must have been hungover because they never smiled or never knew it was our 1st time there. It was not very busy so we should have gotten a better experience. There were 2 people working the tables and the bar together. I would have given 5 stars if the service would have been more personal. You don't wait to smile at a guest when you are ready to take the tip.

Karen W.

Yelp
Everything I have tried here is delicious. Very friendly and attentive staff! I would not hesitate to come back again and again.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Huge tenderloin!!! Super delicious! Definitely split it with family or friend and get the extra bun. Curly fries are also so good! I would definitely go back again
google avatar

Rick K.

Yelp
The hand breaded tenderloins are amazing and enough for 2 meals. Be sure to order a second bun and toppings to go.

paola g.

Yelp
The food is delicious! The drinks are inexpensive and strong. The pork tenderloin can feed 3 people!

Yelp
Not sure what all the complaining is about - if you don't like the faint odor of cigarette smoke, get your food to go. If you find the food bland, pony up a whopping .25 or .50 cents for whatever is going to make it the way you want it. I was in for the first time recently and besides the size which is enormous, thought the tenderloin was very tasty. It was a bit dry but fortunately I had an extra quarter for more mayo. Oh, and I paid extra for a slice of cheese. Look, if you're going to ding a restaurant for covering their costs, you probably shouldn't be eating out. I mean, it's not like they're running a non-profit. As well, $9.25 for the tenderloin sandwich isn't anywhere close to being out of line. Parking is hit or miss. There is no dedicated lot. It's all street parking. In fact we had to park around the corner and down a ways. No biggy. So there were four in our party. As I said, I did have the tenderloin (which I finished). I also had the beer-battered fries and they were great if oddly shaped. I had no issues with how it was pounded out or the coating. It was delish and not my first rodeo so to speak. My wife had a BLT with onion rings and liked it. A lot. The other couple had the tenderloin but split it and took some home. Yeah, they're that big! We found the service friendly and efficient. We were offered to-go refills when we left. At no charge. The atmosphere is very much bar-like with a mix of high tables and regular ones. Not a huge place but no worries. Since we were there for lunch I can't speak to the live music but I don't doubt that it gets loud. I heartily recommend Christine's! Just don't expect a fine dining experience, and do expect to get charged a nominal amount for add-ons and extra condiments. I can't wait to go back. It's a landmark and worth every nickel. Trust me. Now go!

Jessica K.

Yelp
Got the tenderloin sandwich! Delicious and enough for two meals! Went for lunch so it wasn't overly busy. Overall great!

Yelp
Read about the famous pork tenderloin sandwich. It looked delicious, being in town on vacation. My wife and I looked up the address and left the hotel for a late dinner, found a nice close parking spot and walked in. In the corner was a live band, let's call them the "Mighty Mighty Shit Stains" they blasted their horrible way too loud for a small space "music". We decided to order to go and save money on hearing aids in the future. We stood at the bar 5 minutes trying to get someone's attention to order, but the band wailed on, and no one could hear us. We finally flagged down a gal behind the bar and after shouting 3 times to order the Pork Tenderloin she shook her head and screamed "KITCHEN CLOSED!" information that might have been helpful ON LINE OR EVEN ON YOUR DOOR. So, we left, ears still ringing of shittiy bands "music". We went to Waffel House. Their kitchen was open and there wasn't 4 middle aged men who peaked in high school ruining music for everyone with ears.

Bob V.

Yelp
How have I missed this place for so long! Awesome tenderloin, fantastic Ruben, fun and polished staff. They have this thing down. Looking forward to more visits!

Lisa F.

Yelp
Food was good and huge tenderloin. Service horrible - and then they automatically charged us a 20% tip. This practice isn't posted anywhere. Band was so loud that you could t hear. One waitress was cussing and the other acted put out when I asked for water. Too bad - great food.

Tom W.

Yelp
Last week had one of their Pork Tenderloin Sandwiches.... Probably the best I have ever had!!!! I'll be back!!!!!

Yelp
Christine's Firehouse is back on par! Fantastic service and food. Would highly recommend coming here for the best gigantic tenderloins.

Liam W.

Yelp
The food is excellent. We always go there for lunch and it is one of the best places. We will never forget going there during Covid and they treated us great but lately we have not stopped. Food is always fresh and the prices are within range and always a great place to visit.
google avatar

Eric D.

Yelp
Unique experience. I haven't dined in, but the food is delicious. Full bar and family friendly. Service was organized, and I will be back. Great spot for lunch. Probably great for dinner too, just haven't had dinner there...yet.
google avatar

Yelp
The reviews don't lie, the tenderloin is beyond worthy, and mega, seriously 3 meals easy, definitely a when in Rome moment. 5 ***** Oh & the beer was cold! The space is as advertised-a divey joint, lots of kitschy statements as decor-and while we love a good joint, this one didn't speak to me & the hub, but, as other reviews have mentioned, they felt right at home. You will not find a beer menu here nor will you search their site on the web. Simple pleasures. Super humid night with ominous skies and severe weather forecasted. Seemed to put a damper on, well nearly everywhere in NKC , except of course that Uber popular chicken place, bangin as always. Christines touts live music 4 nights/week, and while it was Saturday there was no band and no music of any kind, nor any mention. The royals were on all but 1 tv which was showing keno. When the game ended, station started showing tennis, now on all TVs. Really? Lots of tennis fans among the handful of regulars I guess. There was an NHL eastern conference game on, the winner will play for the Stanley Cup. We were politely taken care of but clearly not in the regulars club, afraid to ask for a channel change...fine. Just fine. Seemed an off night. Will likely get the tenderloin again, to-go.

Genesis R.

Yelp
Food can be good "sometimes" but the service here sucks! I have had the same staff every time I go, but they literally don't care if you're there or not. So much potential if they had a staff that cares.
google avatar

Steven B.

Yelp
Excellent customer lunch for our large group. Massive pork tenderloin. Good attentive service, kept our water glasses full. We had nachos, burgers, chicken or Cuban pork a little of everything. Better than normal & large portions. Get the go box. Beat the lunch crowd arrive 11:30, we did.

Jesse V.

Yelp
This was a fun little spot. A place that seemed to have lots of regulars. The service was just like I like it. Prompt and to the point. I went for the pork tenderloin and was a little disappointed. Needed much more seasoning but still good overall. The fries and horsey sauce were very good.

Richard S.

Yelp
Great food. Great prices. Friendly staff. Great service. Great daily specials. What's not to like. The tenderloin is an experience to be treasured. We love the antique fire helmets over the bar.
google avatar

Ruth B.

Yelp
This place is a breath of fresh air especially wrapping up this whole pandemic craziness. Great energy. Even better food. My friend and I 'split' the pork tenderloin for which Christine's is renown. We had more than enough for two generous sandwiches here and one more to take home. It is so good. And, obviously, huge. Seriously. Enough for 4 people. And the onion rings are among the best I've ever eaten. This is a neighborhood gem.
google avatar

Dustin A.

Yelp
Food was bad, drinks were bad, staff were rude. Better to skip this place, in all honestly.
