Christmas market at Cologne Cathedral

Visited the market over the first weekend in December. It is a really beautiful place to visit and overlooked by an amazing cathedral (whish we visited as well) In terms of the market itself it's super packed and very difficult to live around (especially close to the stage). They have all the regular Christmas market foods and gifts, and really good gluhwein. The pasta we had was really great and they were running a Tik Tok promotion so it was free.

The backdrop of the cathedral with this market and the Christmas decorations was amazing. My husband and I had already visited Cologne 10 years ago but were limited on time. We made up for it this time and even visited the cathedral which was huge and beautiful and full of incredible staied glass windows. This is a great place to visit and breathe in the history surrounding it. A must if you're in the area.

The fair is very crowded, making it difficult to navigate among the crowds, especially those walking around with red wine in hand. :) It's best not to have lunch before visiting, as the fair offers many interesting food and drink options. Christmas tree and decoration is beautiful and worth to visit. There are other fairs near the cathedral, so it's worth walking to Heumarkt also

The Cathedral is an impressive peace of architecture, it's an absolutely stunning structure worth visiting. There are a number of Christmas markets within a walkable distance from the Cathedral, starting with the one right next to it. Note if you have a pram the markets tend to get really crowded especially in the evenings, you will struggle if you have a pram or small kids, aim for the day instead of the evenings. All the markets are worth seeing, be prepared to have cash as well as Card because there are a few stands with the market that only take Cash.

Absolutely stunning Christmas market. Definitely worth a visit. Thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Lots to browse. The Christmas tree and the lights are fab. And so much nicer at night.

This market is located right beside the Dom. It is beautifully decorated and offers a great variety of food and shopping opportunities. Most stalls accept credit cards which is convenient.

A very joyful and fun experience for going alone or with friends. Plenty of good food and warming drinks to try. Everything you want from Christmas market and more.
