The Best Christmas Bars In Philly - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Dilworth Park’s Christmas Village has people falling on the ice and light shows that turn City Hall into a castle, but there’s also a bar decorated like a cabin. The entire area is loud and alarmingly chaotic. Hot toddies flow, lights flicker, and everyone who can’t skate sits around a fire pit with a winter ale. Important: they blast Christmas music nonstop." - Candis Mclean

We went on a Friday night and minus the insane amount of people, thought it was really cool! They had the ice rink off to one side with seating and outdoor heaters. To the side was a Ferris wheel and a few little vendors(more for kids), and if you walked into the middle, a merry go round! Within that middle section is a vendor selling spiked hot cocoa and apple cider. Get it, I promise you won't regret it! You can also purchase it in a souvenir mug(which of course we did!) but the price wasn't over the top. There was about 15 vendors in the one section and another 25 or so in the other. The bigger one offered a lot more food options! We tried about 5 and safe to say, YUM! The Christmas tree was so beautifully decorated, as was the entire village. It was magical. Next year, we'll be coming back-just not on a Friday night!

The Christmas Village in Philly is awesome! It's got this charming European vibe with cute little stalls selling handmade crafts, delicious food, and hot cocoa. The lights and decorations are super festive, making it perfect for getting into the holiday spirit. Plus, there are usually live performances and activities for everyone! If you love Christmas vibes, it’s definitely worth checking out! 🎄❤️

The Christmas Village was bigger than I expected. There were a lot of merchandise and food/beverage vendors. Definitely go during the week as there were no crowds or long lines. There was a great large selection of food. I tried the Cherry Streusel which was fantastic! 🎄🎅🏼❄️⛄🍻🍒

Visiting the Christmas Village today with the family. Spectacular! This has been our 2nd year coming. So many vendors to choose from. Bought a few sweaters and pullovers from the Alpaca Wool Boutique. It’s close to the main entrance near the LOVE sign. Also check out the food area and get your German bratwurst with sauerkraut! Excellent flavor and very traditional. Little pricey($12) They offered lots of different food staples from Germany. Make sure you visit the Christmas Tree Display. Every different kind of decorated Christmas tree from local businesses. Hours Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday is 12pm-8 pm. Friday and Saturday is 12pm-9pm. Sunday 12pm-8pm.

Lots of shops where you can buy all kinds of Christmas novelties, trinkets, gifts, and food. Fun to stroll around, and take pics. There's a gigantic, double-decker, very ornate merry-go-round for the kids, and an ice skating rink!

✨🎄 Bigger & better every year! Philadelphia’s German-style Christmas market is filled with so many delicious treats, wondrous gifts and stocking stuffers! From handcrafted ornaments scouring across eastern Europe, to Dutch waffles made in front of you, warm Red and White Mulled Wine served in collectible mugs, whiskey micro-brewers, extra-warm handmade Nepali scarfs and hats, elote street corn, fresh Hungarian pastries, potato pancakes with fresh applesauce, and a variety of sweet strudel. They also had an exclusive tent dedicated to Käthe Wohlfahrt’s handmade German Christmas decorations. Definitely add this to your Christmas to-do list! *There is a parking lot located underneath LovePark. You can make reservations and pay for parking ahead of time with discounts available through the Christmas village website.

Yelp
I've been to Christmas Village two years in a row now and I think it's quite lovely so I was a bit shocked to see that it only has 3.5 stars on Yelp. Both of my experiences were merry and bright and I would totally go again and can recommend it as fun for the whole family or even with friends or on a date. For starters, there are a ton of local vendors selling everything from paintings, jewelry, and candles to holiday ornaments, and all sorts of food and drink. My favorite booth is Collective Curiosities. During both of my visits I picked up a print of their beautiful tarot card art. They have a subtle nod to Philly and it's been great building my collection. My boyfriend has also found a few things he loves. A hair oil (can't remember who it was from) and flavored salt, but we couldn't find that guy this year. Along with the vendors there's activities like ice skating and a giant merry go round. There are beautifully decorated Christmas trees and other decor and they play festive music. It really does get you in the Christmas spirit.

Yelp
Christmas Village in Philadelphia is located in Center City, Philadelphia, and runs until X-Mas Eve. According to their website, Christmas Village in Philadelphia is modeled after traditional Christmas Markets in Germany. We enjoyed visiting Christmas Village as it was a festive way to spend the Saturday before Christmas Eve weekend. SEPTA is Philadelphia' s public transportation system that also serves parts of New Jersey & Delaware. We conveniently took SEPTA (the Market Frankfort Line via train) from Springfield Garden to 15th Street (6 stops - ride was about 20 minutes long). Cross the street when coming out at 15th Street & Christmas Village is there in all its glory. Christmas Village is on City Hall property, also w / in Love Park, etc. and it is full of so many beautiful vendors, activities, cocktails, food....We had fun, fun, and more fun! Here are some of the highlights - Festival of Trees - near the Love Park Welcome Center, the Festival of Trees is the fundraiser in which one can make a donation to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), and receive a snowflake trinket to use to vote for your favorite tree! The Festival of Trees are trees provided / sponsored by different companies, and they were all so beautiful. It felt good to donate to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia & to vote for one of the gorgeous X-Mas Trees. Mr. Claus was also in this area, and the children looked adorable taking pictures w/ Santa. Spkied Hot Chocolate - they were sevred in 2023 Christmas Village Souvenir Mugs. Standard mugs ($13) and X-Mas Stocking- Shaped Mugs ($14) . We each got a stocking- shaped mug & the hot chocolate was spiked w/ dark rum & served w/ marshmallows & whipped cream. Absolutely Delicious! So good that we had another hot chocolate before we hit the road-lol. You can also purchase the basic cup for $4. Other cocktails available included Hot Toddy, Mulled Wine & Spiked Hot Cider. Food - The Smoked Bratwurst (Sausage) was fantastic! There were also other finger foods like Bacon Cheddar Fries (also regular french fries, etc.), desserts, etc. A medley of aromas were everywhere... Adults & Children were Ice Skating in the Rothman Orthopaedics Skating Rink ($9 Adults, $6 for children age 10 & under, $10 skate rental). People were also enjoying the Ferris Wheel & the Merry-go-round. Both of these amusement park rides charge $5 per person, per ride. Familes were all smiles on the kiddie train ride. Carolers - There were groups of Carolers throughout various areas of Christmas Village. They sand traditional & modern renditions of holiday songs. There were a few groups that performed on small stages w/ different instruments, and the one thing they had in common was their beautiful, harmonious singing. Great performances to spread holiday cheer! Vendors - There is a mixture of local & International vendors selling so many fabulous things. Christmas ornaments, trinkets, clothes, bottled wines, outerwear... you name it, and it is there. We were able to taste samples of some fabulous wine & flavored teas. There was a vendor selling cool paper-mache lamps that come w/ a bulb in pretty colors. Walk- Through Holiday Buses - Super Mario Bros., Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Barbie, etc. buses were decorated via that specific theme and patrons were able to go in & out of each bus, take pictures, etc. We got to look inside the Barbie Bus, and it was so cute. Interesting sights, so much so that we anticipate returning next year! Hours of Operation - Sun. - Thurs. - 12pm - 8pm Fri. & Sat. - 12pm.- 9pm If you drive, you can go on their website to locate parking. Website - philachristmas.com Instagram - @philachristmas Happy Holidays, everyone!

Yelp
Super crowded on Saturdays, it's very hard to shop. I recommend coming here during weekdays. I always get the streudel and Stroopwafel. Check out the decorated Septa buses

Yelp
It was always great fun to come to the Christmas village in Philadelphia. This Christmas village is located at JFK Plaza. There are garage parking with reasonable walking distance is to the village. And yes, the parking fees can be pricey due to it is the center of Philadelphia. as for EV vehicles, many of the garage parkings offer for EV chargers inside. This is one of the best Christmas village to visit in December . They actually started on thanksgiving day and will go through all the way till before Christmas Christmas. Due the variety of vendors, you can't expect various level of services. There are just too many choice of food and drinks for you to enjoy. Most of them take credit cards but some take cash only. There are a lot of fun things to browse and to buy, many great suggestions for Christmas gifts. With live Christmas music performance. Highly recommend to pay a visit if time and distance permits.

Yelp
I have come to Christmas Village every year for the past 6 years. It has become a tradition for me and a couple of my girlfriends. My first stop is always the mulled wine for the collectible mug. Next if the bratwurst stand. This year I tried the pizza la..... I forgot the name of it but it's made with cheese and pepperoni and it was delicious with a little sauerkraut. We grab a sear when available to catch with each others day and listen to whatever dining or instruments are being played on the stay. Each year there appears to be more and more vendors available. I don't typically buy anything since my holiday shopping by the time I get to the village unless something stands out.

Yelp
Set around Philadelphia city hall and one of the city's traditional holiday events it is well worth a visit. Nestled side by side with the 'made in philly' market the Christmas village features many small stalls selling clothes, ornaments, food drink both hard and soft, and is a great place to shop for the season. While the 'made in Philly' area is more artisan the stalls here are more mass produced and also international. Not just American but other nations like Germany , Poland etc are represented to given a nice international feel. I would recommend going during the day and going early in the season as the site gets busier in the evenings as commutes stop off and on the weekends. also it looks like they will not reload stock sold so don't wait for the last minutes for that thing you saw-hoping to get a better price towards the end. The one real downside here is the method of payments. it is wildly inconsistent as some take cash only, others do credit only, some do both, or vinmo or for all know live chickens. With out a consist method it can be a little off putting when you have to pay cash for that thing you saw and you're running low.

Yelp
I love when this opens. It's very festive and also authentic -so much like the ones I was at in Germany. It takes over all of Love Park with the quaint little huts selling all kinds of unique gifts. The vendors are all super nice and happy to answer questions. A variety of food is also available with reasonable prices. The rackets is my fav! It's cheesy goodness in a crusty roll. Beer and wine are also available. Purchase a specialty mug for discounted refills on mulled wine! Seating is available. The center of the market has a stage with performances throughout the day.

Yelp
This is an annual Philly tradition that holds up well. It's modeled after a traditional German market. Good variety of shops, assortment of food and drink and much more. Just walk around and Sisk up the spirit.

Yelp
Really cool set up with a lot of neat shops for the holidays... It was just absolutely crowded when we went. But it was pretty cool, I would recommend for an activity during the holiday season. We had a cannoli from the cannoli stand and it was awesome.

Yelp
My family and I have been coming to the Philadelphia Christmas village as a tradition for years now and we look forward to it annually. We traditionally go to see the lights, get our spiked beverages, something to snack on, and sight see. Be prepared for extreme crowds. Especially closer to Christmas and in the evenings. The light shows happening surrounding the shops are just the start of this holiday experience. Folks come near and far to see the beautiful visual demonstrations. We usually get a spiked cider which has the perfect balance of warmth and alcohol kick. The stores have many intriguing items for sale with many in the holiday spirit.

Yelp
Christmas Village in Philadelphia is definitely a fun place for all to explore during the holidays. I've had the pleasure of experiencing the Christmas Village for the past few years. My most recent visit was the weekend before Christmas, late in the evening, and of course it was packed. I took an Uber to avoid the chaos of finding parking. While there, I bought a cool big mug, to which I later added spiked butterscotch hot cocoa (yum). Tried Humpty's Dumplings (cheesesteak, chicken, bacon, ranch, and potato), which were tasty. I also bought an ornament that I was able to customize a bit. It was interesting to see all the vendors, lights, and the beautiful Ferris wheel. Even though it was pretty cold, I enjoyed the festivity and look forward to visiting again!
google avatar

Teresa T.

Yelp
Meh. Overcrowded, unorganized and too chaotic. It did not help that we went the weekend before Christmas on a Saturday afternoon. Crowds were so insane - it's like 30 minutes to get a beverage and I witnessed the raclette staff melt down due to unruly customers. Everything is at least $10 for food and it's $6 for a watered down hot chocolate. People are just throwing money so that they can get some form of Christmas spirit in this overwhelming crush of people. To be honest, if the stores were not in a Christmas Village, people probably won't even glance twice at some of the stuff sold. If you have no kids, probably better to go later in the evening.

Yelp
I spent a few years in high school and college living in Germany and had the good fortune to visit Christmas markets all over the country. While not 100% authentic obviously, the Philadelphia Christmas market is as close as you'll get to visiting a Christmas market in ze Vaterland. Right in the center of Philly so easy to get to. Tons of beautifully decorated wooden huts set up with lots of food and drinks including lots of German specialties and of course mulled wine in souvenir mugs. No Christmas market is complete without this detail. Came here today with my son and girlfriend who is from Switzerland. My girlfriend had the prosciutto Raclette sandwich with classic toppings and said it tasted excellent but the cheese was not melted enough and the sandwich was overall not warm enough. We both had mulled wine and both agreed it was too lukewarm when served. Like many great restaurants, events, etc, it is somewhat a victim of its own success in that it just gets too crowded. We were here on a Saturday afternoon and the place was mobbed. I felt like if I had jumped I would have been swept away by the crowds. That and the exorbitant prices made it difficult to fully enjoy. If you're lucky enough to grab one of the tables by the food huts and stage, it really is pleasant to sit with a mulled wine and watch the entertainment, even if surrounded by modern day office buildings rather than traditional, century old German architecture. And if you can come here at night with Christmas lights aglow everywhere, all the better. Still a fun experience and definitely worth checking out at least once during the holiday season.

Yelp
It's a fun holiday tradition. There's raclette, frites, Liege waffles, German sausage and more. It's not cheap, but for a holiday outing it's expected. There's no admission cost, so you can certainly bring your own hot cocoa, soak up the festive atmosphere, and enjoy the programming for free. The programming is great. There are German traditions, dancers, and music. But there are also other performers throughout the weeks leading up to Christmas. I enjoyed an evening of local performers. It was great. There's a lot of shopping, with a focus on German/European crafts. But there are local makers as well. If you want to get into the Christmas spirit, this place fits the bill. We listened to local musicians sing, ate frites and Liege waffles (think very elevated state fair food), and enjoyed some mulled wine. Not a bad way to spend a weeknight in December.

Yelp
Christmas Village in Philadelphia is an outside Holiday market event in Center City Philadelphia, which is modeled after the traditional Christmas Markets in German. Across the street at Dilworth Park is 'Made in Philadelphia - Holiday Market'. Very similar experience, food beverage vendors are almost the same, but the Dilworth park experience has an ice staking rink and a sit down restaurant in the Rothman cabin. Specifically for the Christmas village, from looking at pictures from previous years, there may have been less vendors who participated due to Covid. With that comes less staffers and ultimately long lines at some of the popular stands: bratwurst, raclette and the beer stations. Although a semi watered down experience, still a great opportunity to shop local, especially during these rough times. A couple of the vendors I purchased from were: Oleski's (pet treats) and On Waffles Time (Liege Waffles).
google avatar

Chi D.

Yelp
A fun experience with good food and a variety of vendors. Pretty crowded on the day we went which was Friday before Christmas, but still fun. We got tasty short rib dumplings, fresh pretzels, bratwurst, froyo, samplings of alcohol, and found sounds reasonable prices gift items. Love the ear cuffs and art! Portapotties were very clean. Parking was easy at the garage under the market and we used the link on the website on the day we arrived to get $13 all day parking.

Yelp
I know I'm a little late , well yes I'm very late in doing this review, seeing the Christmas season has passed us. What's not to love about this whole setup? Christmas tree, Christmas lights all around, city hall all lit up, amusement rides, performances with fire being tossed up in the air to hear the crowd go "oohhh, ahhhh, WOW". Yes I know it is during the winter, (hence Christmas) and yes I know it is, and can be blistering cold out there, but remember folks.. "Tis the season". If you're cold , grab some hot chocolate, or a hot totty. For the cheese lover in you, grab yourself a traditional Raclette's sandwich, or some of those German sausages that's getting the business over those flames, and take it in. Remember its winter and we need to pack on some pounds for warmth. Besides the gym will always be there for you, so don't fret. In all wear some extra clothing, make sure you're leaving the house all bundled up and enjoy the village and its wonders. No Bah Humbugs here fam.

Yelp
I love Christmas Village. But this year in COVID-19 times, not so much. I give a lot of credit to all the staffers and people running the booths. Everyone was wearing masks, sanitizing, keeping socially distant, and doing their thing. All staff were very friendly. But, this year the feeling of Christmas just wasn't there for me. I'm used to coming with my coworker and enjoying the hustle and bustle of the crowds and numerous booths in Love Park and across the street in Dilworth Plaza at City Hall. It wasn't the same with about half the booths around the perimeter facing outwards, and a half dozen or so "food court" booths on the inside. It was one direction shuffling around, and then a single entrance for the food booths. All the perimeter booths had much to peruse with handmade ornaments, clothing, photographs, collectibles, jewelry, and even some "lanternfly" honey! I recognized all the booths as having been there before, and I hope that they make some money this year. Staff were tracking numbers in the food court, and I was #363 for the day so far. It certainly was not crowded. Got my bratwurst in about a minute. The twice fried Belgian fries were quite tasty. I want this COVID-19 to be done with so we can get back to somewhat normal. I enjoyed the Village, just not as much as before.

Yelp
This was a bit disappointing for the fact that we drove all the way down here, hunted for a parking spot to go on a hunt for this special cheese bread thing and we waited in the line for some time, to be only told that they ran out of bread! How do they do that? There was nothing but crowds everywhere we walked, and there wasn't even any space to really catch your breath. I don't like environments like this, where you feel like you're in a sardine can. The lights and all were pretty and the tree was also pretty and made for some nice photos, but I don't know what all the hype is around coming downtown for Christmas activities. Too many people, not enough food, weird smells everywhere you go! I just don't like it. Its cool they have a small ice skating rink and all too, which is neat for families, but there were so many people that you couldn't even enjoy watching the people, because people were crowded around. I do like that they had an indoor area where you can sit and it was heated, for those who cant take the cold. I just don't understand the hype of it all with this place.
google avatar

Kristin P.

Yelp
Go back to the spicy brown mustard with the real bratwursts. This year we had plain yellow mustard with regular "smoked" Nathan's hot dogs. C'mon people don't pretend like we can't tell the difference.

Yelp
Really nice Christmas Market in the middle of Love Park in Philly. Great location, beautiful setting. My favorite was the hot mulled wine, a bargain at $10 including a commemorative mug. You can also get hot chocolate and other drinks in the commemorative mugs as well. Lots of cute seasonal foods, perfect for holiday shopping or just browsing. Walked across the street for more holiday stands at Dilworth Park right across from City Hall. We had the sausage at Love Park (which was good).... but stay away from the food stands in Dilworth Park. Funnel Cake was also offered, but we didn't try it since we saw they were premade frozen goods). We had a Pilly Cheesesteak, and the steak was dry and tasteless. Another plus about the location, there is an underground parking lot right under Love Park. Subway is also right there. Super convenient!

Yelp
Visited the Christmas Village with my daughter over the Thanksgiving weekend. I'm big on the Christmas holidays and creating the memories. The village is a bunch of little huts with vendors selling their goods There are plenty of food options as well. In addition, they have an ice stating rink, ferris wheel, carrousel and of course the Christmas tree. The highlight for me was the City Hall Light Show. Take note the village is two parts (right across from one anther). Love Park and Dilworth Park. There is very little parking in the area so we planned to take an Uber (five minute ride) from where we planned to eat afterwards. The best decision we made. Other highlights: -Tuck-In's Inside out S'mores. We didn't get to experience it but heard it's a hit. -Mulled wine with etched mugs that you get- to keep. -Fire pits to people watch while drinking a hot beverage. -Chaddfords Winery Wine Tasting -Raclette Cheese - typically a wait to place an order but worth it. Overall a nice family attraction. If you're all about the bright lights and festivities of Christmas then you should go. We will definitely be back next year. Thanks City of Brotherly Love for the memories.

Yelp
I am so exited that Philadelphia now has its very own version of German Christmas Marts. Please don't miss this if you are anywhere close! I wish there was Christmas Village all year long! Watch the cheese video! Lots of holiday gift shopping and delicious hot cider or mulled wine! Shopping was not excessively priced and filled with so many great ideas for hard to shop for recipients. I picked up some great silver. Food options are numerous! Brats, Waffles, Crepes, strudels (6$) and the raclette cheese melt thing was insane and cost $10. Hot beverages including mulled wine ($10, $7 for refills) cider ($7, $4 for refills) and were served 2019 Christmas Village Mugs. The live music was so fantastic! The Ferris wheel is so beautiful lit up next to City Hall lined with all the lit vendor huts. There is a beer garden on site and hot mulled wine as well! Market closes at 8 on Saturdays so go early! Happy Holidays!E

Yelp
Took a brief stroll through the Christmas Village this Saturday afternoon noon. It's a little different than it was two years ago before Covid. All the little shops still line Dilworth Park but I was shocked to see a gigantic ferris wheel in the middle of the courtyard of City Hall. There were even more vendors in this space as well selling everything from foodstuffs to Christmas decorations. It was really crowded though. Plenty of tourists taking pictures. Definitely a cool stop especially if you have kids to ride the ferris wheel.
google avatar

Yelp
I LOVE the Christmas Village and wish it was open all year long. From tasty treats to ice skating to nick-nacks to Christmas gifts, the Christmas Village is the most perfect winter activity! If you go ice skating at the Rothman rink at City Hall, make sure you sign up for a time slot online in advance. When I went in December they were sold out for the day but I just booked online for the next day and went back with no issues :) The location is great because as with most things in Philly, you can take public transportation into the city and walk.
google avatar

C H.

Yelp
Three days before Christmas (5:00 pm) spent $32 to Uber down to the village to do some shopping and enjoy the mull with my family. When we arrived more than 50% of the shops were closed. Walked around for 45 minutes and then Ubers home. Very disappointing, wish they would have stayed somewhere that the shops were closed.
google avatar

Yelp
Finally got to the Christmas village this year. Was pretty crowded considering. Lots of vendors. Was on a mission for our pretzel and hot chocolate. All the food vendors were out of pretzels. Ended up getting Humpty's dumplings. They were absolutely amazing. Will be writing another review under their restaurant. Many of the vendors were your typical soaps and candles. There are a few interesting vendors, such as the glass blowing art. He was actually making some pieces right there. Didn't end up buying anything. But was a nice way to spend a Sunday.
google avatar

Kyle S.

Yelp
Okay I know this may be a biased review as I hate shopping but it was just to crowded. It was the weekend so that makes sense but it was tough to move around. Plenty of stands with different food items and gift options but a lot of places were sold out of items after a couple of hours.
google avatar

Suzette K.

Yelp
I was so excited. Booked a train and hotel for an overnight trip. It was drizzling when we got here and 99.5% of everything was closed. Couldn't even find a place to eat! Says rain or shine but may close early due to heavy snow. Kind of misleading when you have to plans.
google avatar

Yelp
I finally got around to checking out the Christmas Village this weekend. I came the Saturday before Christmas so needless to say, it was quite busy; however, I was still able to enjoy myself. I walked around the market and looked at all of the items that the vendors were selling. The highlight of the market was getting mulled wine and spiced apple cider in specialized Philadelphia Christmas Village mugs. Much to my surprise, it was only $9 for a drink in a souvenir cup you got to keep. All in all, I would say the mulled wine is better than the spiced apple cider. I didn't get a chance to try any of the other foods because the lines were way too long. I did pick up a few things from the vendors. I would recommend checking out the Christmas Village, especially if you are already in town; however, I probably wouldn't journey out of my way to see it.
google avatar

Yelp
Super busy on a Saturday night! We've been here in the past. This was the most I've enjoyed it. They added some new things like a giant present made out of lights that you can walk into and take selfies in. They also have a new 65 foot Ferris wheel (which I realized is not very tall. Lol). We did not have enough time to try it out but we would. There are lots of vendors selling all kinds of things. You can tell which are popular by the verrrrryyyy long lines. There are some vendors that sell hot toddys (which smelled delicious). There are a ton of people everywhere so if crowds aren't your thing, I wouldn't recommend it. If you like being in the hustle and bustle of the holidays, I recommend stopping by even if you aren't going to buy anything. I think it's best to go at night but the day time has its own benefits. I wish they were open later on the weekends! They close at 8:00...although a lot of vendors stayed open beyond that...I'm assuming to take advantage of the people still making purchases.

Yelp
It has been great watching the Christmas Village grow and evolve over the last few years. This year is bigger than ever with the addition of the Ferris Wheel and collaboration with the Made in Philadelphia Holiday Market at Dilworth Park across the street. In terms of food, you can find some traditional German offerings such as bratwurst, doner kebab, spaetzle and strudel. For the adults, there is mulled wine and beer in commemorative mugs. I find the vendors to be a bit eclectic, featuring everything from hot honey and jerky to toys and fine German ornaments. It is fun to just walk and window shop, or to search for gifts. Many vendors return year after year. There are events throughout the course of the market which include dance and musical performances. The City Hall courtyard / Dilworth Park is a real mixed bag with the ice skating rink, local vendors from the Philly area, multi level marketing booths (*eye roll*), then the new Starbucks and a giant Aerie pop up shop that just feel out of place. Over here you can find more street food fair and alcohol in the Rothman Rink Cabin. Every half hour there is a light show projected onto the City Hall facade from 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM. There are full bathrooms available in City Hall during the event hours. On the weekend the Market can get incredibly crowded, but that's part of the fun for some. If you prefer your personal space, definitely check it out during the week. There's truly something for everyone and makes for a great Philly Tradition!

Yelp
Christmas Village has become an anticipated yearly tradition in Philly. I love walking around the shops and pretending to be back in Europe. This year it moved to the Dilworth and City Hall area while Love Park continues its renovations. I actually hope it stays at City Hall in the future, though. I found it much easier to navigate and less compact. Shop stands mimic what you'd expect to find in any decent European market -- lots of jewelry, snacks, winter outerwear, ornaments, and crafty decor gifts galore. The indoor German shop is also very nice, albeit out of my price range. Don't forget to pick up a mulled wine in one of the specially etched mugs. That's always a nice keepsake....and also mirrors what you'd find across the ocean. This year there was also an area with fire pits. So nice!

Yelp
Christmas Village is inspired by authentic German Christmas markets and is a stop on our little traditional "Holiday Tour De Philly" we do every year! We enjoy it! There's something here for everyone in those adorable wooden huts I just love! Over the years I've seen it all, from very traditional and religious items to modern and really neat handcrafted items. You're bound to pick up something for someone on your list! I've seen some of the same vendors year after year, but there's always a cool new one to find too! I personally tend to stick to local handmade goods. Soaps, clay beads, wooden toys, even versatile purses have been some of my previous purchases. Most vendors take debit/cc cards via square reader but some of the activities such as sand art etc and some food are cash only so make sure you have some on hand. Definitely leave room and time for some snacking! We tend to favor authentic German treats and definitely indulge in spiced mulled cider for us and hot cocoa for the kiddos. Through the years we've run into Philly Jesus, Ms Teen Pennsylvania, even jolly ol Saint Nick at the market so keep your eyes peeled! We try to visit when they have themed days and events such as live performances. Check PhilaChristmas.com for the calendar. They add new events each year. Last year, the wine and cheese pairing happy hour was a favorite. The market itself doesn't take that long to peruse around. Navigating around the crowds, now that takes a bit longer. I'm not sure I've ever been here when there wasn't a crowd so just expect it. I think it adds to it all personally. We highly suggest Uber or use of public transportation. There's little to no parking directly around the village. It isn't impossible, I've done it, but it can be tricky for those not from the city as it's a very busy section of town and patience and great parallel parking skills are key. Every Philadelphian should visit Christmas Village in Love Park at least once! We do it combined with many other iconic Philly holiday spots and it all makes for a perfect day celebrating the season in the city!

Yelp
Cute Village for some Christmas spirit! We checked in on Yelp and got a free hot chocolate drink! Yelp says Village information booth so it took us a while to locate it then was told it's not given there, the chocolate drinks are given at the booth right behind the love sign! Sheeeesh All these small tents sell all kind of stuff, from food to arts! There's a beer garden which I thought was cute. Got some Woops macaroons but it might tasted better if the filling is a little less. Too much filling makes it too sweet and not so crispy. 12 for $25 and it's near the exit sign. I hope to come again before the event ends.

Yelp
Cute little set up for quick family fun. It isn't very big and I'm definitely more used to more interactive, holiday activities. But there are a few rows of popup shop to walk through, buy a christmas present from a local art shop and maybe try some salsa and chocolate. There's ice skating, a small ferris wheel, and a small carousel. My favorite and what has me stopping by each time is the Gluhwein beer in their cute collectible mug. Happy hour is on Wednesdays from 4-7pm. The classic mug with wine is 7$ and refills are 4$ Bootmug is the same as always at $11.

Yelp
This is such a great idea for center city. It really gets you in the holiday spirit. There are countless booths of vendors selling their goods and many have handmade items. There are also plenty of food options as well. They have live entertainment but the singers were not singing holiday music which was odd.

Yelp
Just came from here Saturday. I will say this; its a nice idea. But the road to Hell is also paved with good intentions. The christmas village is a two part street faire, spaced out between Love Park ("high rent district") and Dilworth Park across the street ("low rent district.") There are a bunch of little booths, with people peddling their wares, be it Mikes Hot Honey, or a mulled wine, or a melted cheese sandwich. There are a variety of booths, selling everything from tchotchkes to waffles. Between the two parks, I'd say there were about 50-60 booths, so you're bound to find something you like. The problems with the Christmas Village abound though. From the absolute impossibility of finding parking, to the INSANELY cramped quarters, replete with people who thought their dual, suburban, soccer mom strollers would fit, to the shop keep, price gouging the pants off of you, charging $60 for a windchime. One of the hit booths, is the melted cheese raclette booth, where you will wait in a line for 20 minutes, with ZERO walking room for people trying to get by with their wagons they are pulling their dog in, or 6 crying kids, just to order a sandwich, with a 20 minute wait time to make, where another queue will form with people waiting for their sandwich, causing a bottle neck at the OTHER end of the booth. I had the back of my legs ran into no less than 4 times by a mom, pushing the worsts most elaborate stroller. That sandwich, by the way is $10. We went to get a waffle, $8.50. Bottle of hot honey, $10. Its an expensive village. The Dilworth Park side is MUCH more open than the Love Park side, but also has a lot more of the "B Team" booths. Although some stand out booths ARE in Dilworth Park, including the Alcoholic Cake booth, and the French Toast bites booth. (Apologies to both of them, as I don't remember their actual names.) It was a cool enough night, but after waiting in line for 40 minutes, and then the rain starting, we pretty much got out of Dodge. It still might be worth checking out, if you can take the train in, or Uber down there. Don't try to drive.

Yelp
Still going strong and now it is bigger and bigger and blends in with the other Christmas Market across the street. Lots to see and browsing around was fun (and cold) but there was nothing I felt compelled to purchase. A big plus - the heated tent where you can thaw out with a glass of wine or cup of (mediocre) coffee. Very loud and crowded in there on a Thursday before Xmas.

Yelp
I came here for the first time. I usually dont travel down to center city I usually try to avoid it down there because of high traffic and never any parking . I did luck out with a great parking space it was right up the block from Christmas village. I had a nice night enjoyed the lights and all the different vendors. I enjoyed a toasted cheese bread with pickles and onions so delicious I would go back just for that. The weather was perfect and the crowd wasnt to bad. 1 thing I think they should put all the food on 1 side and all the vendors selling things on another side to make it easier to walk but that's my opinion. It is worth going it puts you in the Christmas mood.

Yelp
I love Christmas Village because it is genuinely beautiful if you take several steps back just to appreciate the landscape view. I went there a few evenings ago to walk around with mulled wine and check out the different vendors. My favorite parts: 1) The live singer - she had such a lovely voice and was singing holiday songs in a slow, almost romantic way 2) The ornament and nutcracker tent The only reason I give only 3 stars is because I wish there were more items being sold that I actually want to purchase. Though several of the vendors offer really unique gifts, there are many I walk by and deeply wonder about. I mean no disrespect because part of the fun of the experience is to appreciate little trinkets you don't see every day but since it's very very cold, it would be useful if you could do some serious Christmas shopping out there!

Yelp
We went and everything was distanced pretty well. It was still nice with all traffic flowing one way. The food stations were centralized and were all in open air. They did enforce masks and following the pathways but in a nice way. It wasn't at all crowded but tonight was the non official opening. Vtrainers Personal Training

Yelp
It's the most wonderful time of the year! With the vendors all selling, Crafts and delicious smelling, Pastries and knitted winter gear. It's the hap happiest season of all, With those bacon flavored cheeses, And sculptures of baby Jesus, It's way better than the mall. There'll be platters for hosting, And mulled wine for toasting, And carolling out in front of the fountain, There'll be artwork for buying, And you basically should probably go. The Christmas market is always a favorite activity of mine during the holiday season. Delicious snacks, holiday trinkets, and great gifts. You just can't go wrong! I've taken everyone from out of towners to my mom here. Check it out!

Yelp
Loved visiting Christmas Village for the first time this year! There's an ice skating rink ($5/adult then $10 for skates) as well as pop-up beer gardens and tents for different vendors to sell products -- we got some candles and a pumpkin cannoli (so good!) Would definitely recommend stopping by, especially if you have kids as there's a lot for families to do!

Yelp
Check your receipts. I was charged an additional $4 on my credit card at the Beer Alm. I tapped my card for 2 beers at $16. We got an alert on our phone that the charge was $20. I never agreed to a tip. We returned and had the $4 extra charge removed. Otherwise, visiting the Kristkindlmarkt was a holiday joy.

Yelp
The Germany theme adds a great touch. I had been to the Christmas village in New York for years but they don't really have a special theme. I certainly prefer the additional touch of the Philly Christmas village.

Yelp
I went to Christmas Village on a weekday afternoon and it was a good time to walk around and see the vendors however you miss the entertainment and lights that you would experience on eves and weekends. The vendors are a mix of jewelry, food, art, holiday decorations, etc... it's a nice way to support smaller businesses during the holiday season. If you need to warm up in between the outside attractions, visit the Kathe Wohlfahrt tent/store to see holiday ornaments, and decorations or stop in the food tent near the ice skating rink. I used Spot Hero in the Christmas Village website to book a discounted rate on parking at the lot at 13th and Arch. Only 9.99 for the day !

Yelp
Visited the Christmas Village this year again and we were better prepared. We went during the week to avoid the massive crowds on the weekends and we stayed overnight at a hotel to spend our time and not feel rushed. It was the best Christmas visit ever. I highly recommend taking time to slow down at the Village.
