The Best Restaurants In The Berkshires

"Maybe you’re saving up for the new Lego Star Wars Cantina set, or a Death Star toaster. Both are legitimate reasons to be on a budget and therefore eat somewhere other than A-OK Barbeque (meals run about $20 per person there). A short walk away from Mass MoCA is Christo’s, a casual spot with pizzas, sandwiches, and some Greek specialities too. A pepperoni slice sells is less than $4, which is impressive given that the slice is almost a quarter of a pizza. Large grinder sandwiches are $8.45 - they’re big enough to split." - joel ang

Google
My wife and I stumbled on this place yesterday while taking a walk. The young lady who greeted us was a ray of sunshine......happy, welcoming, helpful, and enthusiastic. We ordered a medium combo (hold the olives) and they served us outside. It was PERFECT....I never had better toppings! Then we met the owner who was a delight. What a find! Thank God for fabulous businesses like this one.

Google
Delicious food! We ordered a few things for a dinner party and it was absolutely delicious! We thought the pizza was fantastic, the pasta dinners were tasty and big portions, the gyros had so much flavor and perfectly seasoned, the Mediterranean plate is perfect, the baklava is a trip to flavor town , and even the side salad impressed. The hummus is also really really good. Very flavorful and made well food! I was really impressed and will be back for more.

Google
This was a cute little spot to eat at while in North adams. Very quiet, nice environment. I had the turkey club and the fries. Was very delicious. Recommend if you're just trying to get a quick bite. Or you're just trying to sit around and enjoy the scenery

Google
Love this place. Consistently delicious food and friendly service. The spinach pie with Greek salad is my go-to lunch (or the Mediterranean plate for dinner). The kitchen and service staff clearly care about providing consistently excellent food and service—I’ve never had a “meh” meal there!

Christopher J

Google
Inexperienced, but good service, with great enthusiasm. The kitchen was 30min. plus... slow. Food was above average, but a small portion of meatballs on the meatball sub. It came on a good hoogie bun. Fries were hot and simple, very good.

Google
Hallelujah! A pizza place in North Adams has added vegan cheese to their menu! The upcharge for it is a little much, and they haven’t added it to their online ordering system yet, but they definitely deserve a five-star review for making the effort. They will definitely be in my regular takeout rotation from now on.

Emily Hart

Google
What a gem!! Delicious pizza (love the crust) and great Greek food. The spanakopita and homemade hummus were a huge hit!

Grace Sanford

Google
I really love the food/atmosphere here. It has a homey feeling. The employees are very sweet. The Mediterranean plate is my favorite. I honestly think its my favorite hummus that I've had anywhere . The pizza is also very good. I've never had a problem with the order being ready late. But sometimes, like with any place, I'm sure they get busy, and its hard to keep track of. We gotta have compassion, guys. Anyway, I really like Christo's famous pizza. Wish I had a place like this closer to my home.

Yelp
Christo's is owned and operated by a great family that cares a lot about their food and their customers. Duncan (son) and Jim (father) work hard to make the customer happy. They remember how you like things and you can order variations (like the falafel on pita, I wanted a wrap instead so they did it that way and it was awesome). My favorites this winter are the soups and the salads (Greek salad pictured), the Chicken Souvlaki, and the Aegean and Mediterranean plates. They have new soups and specials frequently and post them on FB. Everything tastes clean and fresh. Pizza is also good but I'm not a pizza guy. Five stars, highly recommend!

Yelp
Very cozy pizzeria with a Greek touch. Standard Greek salad with lettuce, olive, peppers, tomato, onion topped with feta cheese and a vinegar dressing. Standard Mediterranean platter with grape leaves, pita, olives and oddly flavored hummus. Nonstandard pizza crust but cakey and flakey. Beer and soda, no wine. Super attentive waitress since most diners picked up. If desperate, check it out.

Yelp
Food was great! We had 3 different pizzas. Staff was SO friendly and nice. Celebrating birthdays we were given a rice pudding and baklava, everything was delish! Go!

Blane G.

Yelp
make sure youre in the restaurant before you order. Called in an order then got caught up with some automotive issues on the road. called back about my order was very rude and told you already ordered this 2 hours ago and we are not remaking food for you. Shitty people working here spend your money elsewhere

Yelp
Amazing Pizza! You won't regret ordering here! I prefer takeout, but dining in is fine also! 5 stars from me, and the wife will try a bite the next time!

Yelp
Didn't feel like pizza for lunch so this wasn't a consideration, but we were nearby and walked past to glance at the menu. The owner happened to step out and told us there was plenty more on the menu including spinach pie. We ordered the spinach pie with green salad and a lamb gyro. After a nice conversation with the staff, they also let us try the baklava and a slice of pizza with their home grown/made pesto (awesome!). With such great food and staff, don't pass it by.

Virginia G.

Yelp
The food wasn't great the waitress was so annoying and didn't know anything about Greek food. Train your wait staff better

Yelp
By far, the best pizza in North Adams. Excellent service in an intimate, welcoming setting. Moved to North Adams a couple of months ago. Was delighted to find Christos. Five Stars

Yelp
Came here this afternoon for a quick lunch with my boys after visiting Mass MoCA. It was an easy 4 minute walk without having to drive. The pizza was delicious! We are very picky and all loved the crust, but the sauce and cheese was amazing! The owner came out to talk with us and offered suggestions for what else to do in the area. I would come back again next time we visit the museum!

Dante R.

Yelp
Great greek food. I do wish the menu were a little more varied but the food they do make is top notch.

Dave M.

Yelp
We love this incredible establishment! The restaurant is spotless; the staff is helpful and professional; the prices are very reasonable, and the food is delicious! Well done!!

Yelp
In the middle of nowhere in the small town of Adams. This place is not that great. Its a last resort. They were friendly and they deliver but the food was bad. The crust was hard.

Steve R.

Yelp
Delicious Italian and Greek selections. Surprisingly huge menu for such a modest spot. Excellent tomato sauce.

Yelp
Best crust ever! Especially when reheated for breakfast! Try the house special with extra olives... OMG, my new fav.

Yelp
Okay, here's an update to my earlier review. I called about 3 or 4 weeks back; a bit more maybe. And the guy that answered the phone seemed very nice, or at least I got that impression - I think it was the owner, but not sure. I had a hair up my butt... had nothing to do with the restaurant. Anyway I pretended like I wanted to order 10 servings of Honey fried Chicken. For some reason the guy just knew that I was pranking him and the two of us ended up laughing our butts off a little bit. He gave me his word that he would eventually get around to updating the menu and taking my favorite honey fried Chicken off of it. I'm going to give it until maybe after the first of the year & drop by and see what he's done. I ended up really liking the guy. Still can't give five stars though, not without my honey fried Chicken... dang it.

Yelp
With the recent arrival of new owners we started ordering from Christos again. It's true that the title says pizza, however it is a bit misleading since there is a large assortment of other Mediterranean food served in large portions. Our favorite option is the Chicken gyro dinner. Their best dessert is obviously the baklava (not too sweet, and definitely not dry)--The physical ambience is something that they're still working on, but overall it is a huge improvement on what used to be there, and a MUCH welcome alternative to Ramuntos, with its slow service. Highly recommended.

Yelp
The chicken parmigiana was great, and for a huge plus they were open on a Monday which is great here in the Northern Berkshires because like no other Italian restaurants seem to be open. Most definitely will be back!
google avatar

Roger B.

Yelp
This was pretty good pizza for the Berkshires. The restaurant is Greek owned and operated. The pizza was quite tasty. We ordered the meatball parm and a loaded pie. The decor inside was a bit dated as was the restaurant overall. Service was decent and I had no complaints.

Yelp
Quaint little restaurant in the center of North Adams. I unknowingly parked behind the restaurant and was welcomed in the back door by an elderly man and woman (presumably the owners) who thanked me for coming in. The woman said many customer come in the back door (which runs right through their kitchen). I ordered a meat lovers pizza which was delivered fresh and hot by the sweet little lady in about 15 minutes. The small 10" pizza was very flavorful and more than I could eat. Crust was medium in thickness, crispy and tasty, and the toppings were plentiful and full of flavor. She refilled my iced tea toward the end of the meal. $15.94 plus a tip...a bit on the high side but I loved the food, the service and the proprietors! Note seating is limited (28 seats).

Kaitlyn M.

Yelp
Jim was an absolute delight to talk to! The food was incredible. Absolutely loved the white broccoli pizza. Service was fast and worth every cent!!! We will be coming back!

Jonathan G.

Yelp
Came for lunch on Labor Day. Created a salami, spinach and kalamata olive pizza, which was fantastic! Kids had a roast beef club and a turkey/salami sub. Everything was great and the staff was super friendly. Would definitely come back whenever we're in town again. Thanks!

Me U.

Yelp
The Aegean Pizza has been the best pizza I have ever had. Love the garlic taste of it and the combination of ingredients

Adrienne V.

Yelp
had a green goddess wrap (chicken and basil). my husband had chicken shawarma plate and daughter had meat lovers pizza. all delicious. great service. for a quick casual bite that is inexpensive, would highly recommend.

Yelp
We ordered a couple of grinders for take-out. 1. It took forever. 2. It was oppressively hot inside the restaurant. 3. Another customer there complained about a mystery price increase. They were apparently charged more than the menu prices. The woman behind the counter said something about old menus. 4. They charged us fifty cents more than the menu price for each our grinders. (I'm pretty sure this is illegal.) 5. The grinders themselves were mediocre at best. Sparse on both meat and vegetables. Definitely not worth the money charged for them. 6. This place deserves the 1 star rating I gave it.

Yelp
Tried to call tonite for a delivery at 8:30pm. Called 4 times, no answer even tho.it says they are open until 10pm. You could st least have as n answering machine to give updates on open th imes, but, not to worry, I won't be calling again. You've now lost my commercial business also

Yelp
If this place is "famous" then I'm Sammy Davis Jr. OK I'm not usually a fan of Greek Pizza. However I didn't mind this Greek pizza because this little mom and pop shop provided service with a smile and their family work ethic was quite admirable. It looked like they had the whole family working on the day I visited. Plus, I liked their prices... very reasonable prices. Actually the pizza wasn't bad, although I find a lot of Greek pizzas to taste the same. But the pizza hit the spot for this hungry traveler. Crust, sauce, and cheese.... all good. There you have it. That's straight from the mouth of the Candyman. Babe.

Amanda S.

Yelp
I'm only writing in hopes to let the owners know that it seems COVID has taken a toll on the quality of the food here. Wishing your restaurant the best during these tough times.
google avatar

Emma A.

Yelp
My go to place for Greek food. Love the food and the owners are so nice & accommodating. Definitely recommend trying a dessert or two while here. Delicious baklava & rice pudding

Yelp
We just moved here and my three year old and I stopped in for lunch. We met Mary - an authentic Greek woman - who owns the shop. I had the chicken Cesar salad and onion rings (it was my three year old's first time eating that!) It was wonderful. It's not fancy cuisine or anything - but the atmosphere of the entire lunch and Mary's friendliness made it a nice experience. We chatted and she made everything to order. It was great service. The chicken was tasty and fresh and so were the greens and dressing. This place was the first to bring pizza to the Berkshires, so I felt like we were experiencing some history. I also felt like I was back in my grandmother's kitchen, so authentic. I really enjoyed the lunch there and it was a community feel. Mary's daughter owns a pizza shop in Williamstown -- that we are going to try next. I'm excited to try the sandwiches. There are places to also sit outside. There is a large parking lot across the street too.

Yelp
If you want the best pizza in town you've found it. Greek style pizza and more. Subs are good too. Don't hesitate. If you like Hawaiian pizza then you've come to the right place. Best you've ever had or it's on me. Don't hesitate. Nice bottled beer selection too

Mirian B.

Yelp
Delicious food and awesome service! We stopped on our way back home and we're very pleased with our choice. Food was topical Mediterranean food. Well cooked and fresh. The waitress was nice and attentive. Highly recommended!

Mackenzi R.

Yelp
Great food and the friendliest service. Walked in with a very large group of hungry teenagers and staff was more than helpful. Definitely worth a visit
google avatar

Angel L.

Yelp
Their customer service is great it's one of mine and many others favorite places to get pizza locally . They're very friendly to their locals and their crust is crispy and almost has a beer flavor to it . The only pizza place I would recommend around here . It truly is a cute little hole in the wall place .

Keith M.

Yelp
The Greeks may have invented democracy, but they don't know how to make a pizza. There is a difference between making a light and low-grease / low-oil pizza and baking a cake. This place makes cake pizzas. If you are looking for a non-chain pizza which is still a pizza, hop on Rt. 8 South and don't stop til you reach Pittsfield. Sad how you can't get decent food around here.
google avatar

Holly S.

Yelp
The food is good and most of it seems decently priced (a small pizza for $12) but some of it is pretty outlandish (5 mozzarella sticks, while large, shouldn't cost $6.50). The service is slow and the people there are often chatting with other people for several minutes before coming over to acknowledge you at all (this has happened all three times I've gone- don't know if the people they're talking to are friends, employees, favorite customers, or what). All in all, I do enjoy the food but it's not a place I would go out of my way for or necessarily recommend to someone.
google avatar

Yelp
Surprisingly good food. Very tasty and authentic Greek classic cuisine. A real yaya in the kitchen. Excellent mousaka and gyros.
google avatar

Cheryl L.

Yelp
Lv the pizza especially the white and everything else I've had...menu is plenty varied and quick service...
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
Too bad I did not notice the tip before coming here. Slow service is an understatement. 40 minutes for 2 grinders and get out bill. Not worth the wait either. The staff were all very nice but that is the best thing I can say about this place. Buffalo chicken grinder was grilled chicken which was fine because she did tell me. However there was no hot sauce or spice that would constitute it as "buffalo." It came on a sesame roll and was not made as requested. I said no tomatoes but what I got instead was no cheese. They never checked back on the meal. Hubby had a turkey blt. It was on toasted sourdough. Very thick but no real flavor. It came with a side of steak fries. Just ok. Fountain drinks with no free refills were $1.75 each. Prices of sandwiches were average. The bathroom was out of toilet paper and the garbage was overflowing with paper towels. I cannot recommend this place
google avatar

Alan D.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant with my friend Maria Netti on the first Saturday of December. The music was a nice mix and quiet enough for chitchat. I had the spinach pie with Greek salad, and it was very good, and then I had the baklava, and it was also very good. The service was very good, and it was overall a great experience.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
This a VERY solid 4, even a 4.5, but as that is not an option, I throw down a solid and enthusiastic 4! The blend of Greek with pizza was far and away the best combination I have experienced. My wife and I had a sausage pizza which had the best sausage I have had outside of my native midwest! To cap it off, the baklava and rice pudding were stand-outs in their own right! The seating is limited but comfortable. Also, an honorable mention goes out to the garlic bread. What could make it special, you ask? Garlic bread on Greek toast is your answer. Amazing.
google avatar

Susan C.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch today. The owner Mary is the personification of hospitality and couldn't have been more welcoming. The meal was wonderful -- I went traditional with a gyro dinner. Not so traditional was my choice to have fries instead of rice. The steak fries were hot and delicious, the salad was fresh and I had no complaints about the gyro ingredients - yumm! The restaurant is a cozy little place. Service was outstanding. I'll be back for sure.
google avatar

Sunny G.

Yelp
We walked here from Mass MOCA for lunch to save some bucks. It's a casual, very wallet-friendly place. The pizza was delicious. That also have some Greek dishes and baklava, though we only got a Gyro. Definitely recommend if you have a hungry crew to feed and you don't want to pay museum cafe prices.
google avatar

Tiffany W.

Yelp
Sliced Cheesey Goodness. Soft thin crust. Authentic Greek red sauce. Very good quality cheese.
google avatar

Reid S.

Yelp
Paid a total of $9.50 for something that is listed on the menu as $7.95 (though she later gave me a dollar back because she didn't have the fries that I didn't ask for) that is completely identical to another menu item that is a dollar cheaper, aside from the fact that mine was supposedly 'souvlaki'. Didn't receive the drink I asked for. Frozen pickles - how could I tell? - there was ice on them. Their tzatziki reminds me of the first time I tried my hand at making the condiment, except mine was better. Finished it but left hungry. Pros: pita was warm and food was acceptable. Nice people, seems like. Unfortunately, good intentions don't always make good food. I want to say better things, but there aren't any. Should have gone a dollar fifty up and grabbed a burger at Public. Or just have gone to Angelina's, where at the bare minimum I would have more food for less money.
google avatar

Epiphany T.

Yelp
Fantastic pizza with consistent quality. The shop's owner is extremely gracious and personable. The texture and quality of the pizza are bold and zesty, with thick crust. I've been going here for six years, and I cannot say better things.
google avatar

KJ L.

Yelp
Mediterranean pizza...yes! We're new in town and are thrilled to have found this place. Greek! Pizzas! Nice owner! Adorable little place! I'm hooked.
google avatar

Kassandra J.

Yelp
This is the BEST Greek pizza place I've ever experienced outside of my hometown (which is packed with similar restaurants). The pizza is always perfectly done: just the right amount of toppings, not too much cheese, sweet Greek sauce, and perfectly soft crust. While other pizza joints in the area are good, Christos is the best. The pizza isn't greasy or too heavy. The decor isn't very pleasing though; we usually get delivery. But, it's clearly a family establishment that cares about the food it puts out.
google avatar

Simona S.

Yelp
Christo's was the only place in the area (besides McD's) which barely had a table available right before a sold-out show at Mass MOCA. We has to share a larger table with a couple of other customers. The staff is very very nice, but they clearly had some sort of shortage or issue in the kitchen because they kept asking us to repeat our order and there was a lot of confusion overall. The cheeseburger with fries was surprisingly good, and the buffalo sub was delicious (though lacking in size). A mediocre selection of bottled beer, but good enough for a pizza place. If you are going to North Adams for a night to see a show, make sure to plan your dinner ahead. Christo's does not handle busy hours well, but food is good, hence the 4 stars! :)

Katie M.

Yelp
Friendly place to be happy environment and 100 percent friendlier than McDonald's in north Adams I would spend all my money there just to eat and enjoy my self then as t McDonald's
