Southern California’s the Hat Finally Opens in Las Vegas and More Openings | Eater Vegas

"Opening on Spring Mountain Road in Chinatown with late-night hours (5 p.m. to 3 a.m.), this Northeastern Chinese Dongbei-style barbecue spot serves skewers starting at $1 and a range of items from wagyu beef to duck tongue and spicy cold noodles; the space channels old-school Chinese street stalls with bold reds, neon lights, and low tables." - Janna Karel

Waiting time is supper long, but once you entered the experience is great. You can go to fetch the skewers yourself and each table has an oven to cook the stuff you brought. I felt all the lamb, chicken, vegetables are great, beef is a little bit salty for me but beef tough is good. It’s an amazing experience to enjoy the cooking yourself and each skewer costs only $1

First meal off the flight! Came in pretty late around 11:30PM on a Thursday evening. Went quite late...ate till 1:30AM. Each skewer $1.30 for normal, but with membership it is $1 (some items have two skewers on them so be mindful). Alcohol pricing: bottle beer $7 asahi super dry +$1 soju $13.99 Sauce included, but 99 cents each. Charcoal $3.99 Interesting business model. Also tied to other chubby businesses as well as Mikiya. Meat quality could be a bit better, but it is definitely a pretty fun, casual meal to eat and slowly grill your food! Parking can be tough during peak hours.

Google
Absolutely the best skewers I’ve ever had in years!!! My favs are the yellow fish, chicken skin, A5 wagyu beef, and lamb. The oyster mushroom and broccoli were delicious too! Very authentic and tasty. We each one had three dish. We signed up for the annual membership ($58) and got 10 free skewers and free coal and free spices. Plus 30 free skewers on my birthday! I think I can also use it at all Chubby locations like the hotpot, bbq, even Mikita and Mott 32!! Lily was our server and she was amazing and very helpful. Will definitely visit again!

Google
Great concept, yakitori for the masses. U cook it, u eat it. Large selection of meat and vegetable, all on skewers that you place over the small brazier. And here's the twist..it uses high quality charcoal that gives off an even heat and makes everything delicious and smoky. U can't stop eating. Before you know it, u have consumed over 30 skewers bec they are deceptively small and you can't stop at ten or twenty or thirty lol. I wish they would expand this to other locations. It gets crowded during dinner. Large parties might be less ideal because of the time it takes to cook enough skewers to feed everyone. U do pay about 5$ for the use of the charcoal and a buck each for the spice selection at each table. Get the squid tentacles, cauliflower and chicken wings at least. The eel is delicious but too expensive to indulge

I've been a fan of the Chubby Cattle empire and wanted to check this place out (it wasn't open last time I was in town). What's nice about this place is that you can choose whatever skewer you want and then bring it to your grill to cook. The quality of meat is great and the price is super reasonable. Our servers Karey and Lily were attentive and answered any questions we had. Overall, I am coming back here again.

Google
cute concept but table and chair can be hard to sit especially taller people or elder. our server was really friendly and give good recommendations. it may seems like $1.39/skewer is not a lot but the amount of food you get on each skewer is a joke. some of the squid skewer has like one tiny piece of squid tentacles. while the a5 waygu brisket got like 3 tiny cubes. and the .99/person for sauce was ok i just wish they have a dipping sauce and not just powder. not worth the money- could just go to other waygu place. unless you looking for something that open late and this specific type of food. the cucumber pickle was okay. i’ve had better but ordered it from the server recommended to use the sauce to dip the skewer in.

Google
This is a local chain restaurant that specializes in skewers BBQ. Basically you picked the skewers you like from a large selection in the refrigerators. Then you BBQ the skewers on the table. A lot of fun while cooking your favorites. We had a good time here.

Google
Found thru a Instagram post, restaurant was what the post highlighted except for the table. Being 5'11", sitting was a tad awkward as the table was low. Other than that, the food was great. I opted for appetizers (rice & fried noodles) with the meal. The skewers are in big coolers to the back of the dining area, & are separated by meat/seafood one side, veggies on the other. Some skewers look small, but for a buck & change per skewer, dont expect generous portions. I can see how easy it is to eat excessively, as I racked up a $70 bill. But I felt full & left happy.

Yelp
Chubby skewers is a great place to eat with friends, and our server Soso was so helpful and nice! We'll definitely be back

Yelp
Stopped by this new opened restaurant, the food here taste really awesome and the service is very good, shout out to lily and Logan for helping out here.

Yelp
If I could give six stars just for service, I would. Zindy took care of us the whole night -- she had the sweetest smile, and even though the place was slammed, she never seemed stressed. She kept checking on our table without hovering and made sure everything came out hot. The food? Phenomenal. The lamb and beef skewers were perfectly seasoned with that smoky spice that lingers in the best way. We also tried the grilled corn and mushrooms -- simple but amazing. Only downside: the place gets really smoky. My hair smelled like BBQ for the rest of the night, but honestly, I didn't care -- it was worth it. Just maybe don't come right after getting your hair done . Will 100% be back next time we're in Vegas.

Yelp
Take the skewers from the refrigerator by yourself and cool by yourself. I like this idea and they have plenty of choices to choose from. The food quality are great and prices are reasonable. Staff are friendly and professional.

Yelp
Fun spot! For chubby cattle members, you can get each skewer for $1. The skewers can get small and might not even be worth your money, but the vibe and the idea is pretty cool. The cooking area is a bit small and these seats are lowered so for my friends who have back and knee problems, this might be uncomfortable. The tables are pretty small as well. We didn't know where to put our stuff and plates. The flavors are good and pretty simple. It's a good spot for the curious ones!

Yelp
Dining at Chubby Skewers was a fun experience. The restaurant is set up like a late-night outdoor street vendor with low table and chairs, with the charcoal grill in the middle. You simply walk to the fridge area to grab the skewers yourself. The prices ranges from $1.25 and up (members $1), depending on how many skewers you end up with at the end of the meal (the server will count them). Skewers ranges from veggies, seafood, and different type of meat, including wagyu beef. The portion on each skewer is rather small, depending on what you grab; some specific meat would actually have double skewer sticks, costing more. They also have menu items you can order directly from your phone via QR code on your table or through the server. You'd grill the skewers directly from your table grill. The service was great, the staff was professional and attentive when you need them. The meat quality, however, is just okay, especially under the Chubby brand. The taste of the meat was also just alright. It's quite expensive for what you get. They charge for charcoal, seasoning/person, etc. Overall, it's a fun experience with okay food and I'll probably go back if someone's in town but not specifically for the food.

Yelp
Went here with some family the day before Thanksgiving for a 9pm bite, and was definitely not disappointed with the food and atmosphere! After parking, we put our name on the Yelp waitlist and waited only about 15 min prior to getting seated! The atmosphere is very fun, with tables and chairs a bit lower to the floor, and a cool get your own and cook your own skewer concept! Our server thanked us for waiting as he admitted they were a bit short staffed that night, but most were self serve or order on your phone, which made it easy! I loved their selection of wagyu meats, pork cuts, seafood, veggies, etc. that were located at the fridges. Although it did get quite crowded in that area, I enjoyed looking at all the options and selecting the sticks. Each stick was $1.30, with some premium skewers having two sticks. Some of the meats are a bit on the smaller side (like eel), but I think the portions are great for trying a couple different meats. The cold dishes that you can order separately on your phone by scanning the QR code on your table was great- we just did edamame because we mostly wanted the skewers. We ordered a bottle of Soju as well as a pitcher (and a 2nd pitcher because the 2nd was half off). With 5 of us, we finished the drinks & had about 75 skewers by the end. Overall A great night and a great meal! I will definitely be back! *PS. If you're a member of within their Chubby brand, your skewers are only $1 per stick rather than $1.30. They also have a late night special with 20% off after 11pm and 30% off after 12am which sounds like a great deal! Can't wait for my round 2!

Yelp
This was such a fun and delicious dinner!! I really enjoyed the self-serve bar and being able to grill the skewers on my own. We visited on a Wednesday for dinner and was met without a wait. Service was friendly and prompt, and they had a pretty solid selection of skewers ranging from meats to veggies too. I do think that this is more ideal for smaller groups.. the charcoal grill is quite small so if you have a larger group, you'd have to wait a while in between as everyone cooks their meats. They have seasonings like cumin on the side too - I'd recommend seasoning before grilling! They also have a small flyer with tips on how long to cook each type of skewer. Tip: if you have a membership, it's only $1 per skewer! Tables and chairs are a little small/short so I'd be mindful of that too.

Yelp
It was fun!! My first time here! with kids... As I'm member of Chubby plus... (there was terms and conditions.) Charcoal Fee, Spice Fee came complimentary! the manager(maybe), he made it easy for me!! Thank you! Inside there atmosphere was like Asian market restaurant! Kids and I like Beef pepper one and lean meat. And Chicken. And Squid. We will come back!

Yelp
I'm a fan of skewers, the skewers have different selections that is self service so you can pick and choose which you like. The server Karey was helpful in helping and explaining to us on how to order.

Yelp
We walked into Chubby Skewers late Monday and it wasn't busy, which was nice since I know it gets packed on weekends with a line out the door. The food was really good and I love the whole concept. The service was great too, very friendly and quick. I like the idea that we are able to walk up to the fridges to help ourself to our meat. The only thing I didn't love was how low the tables are. My boyfriend couldn't even get his knees under the table, so we had to sit kind of far back and angle our legs just to fit. It made eating a little awkward, but honestly the food made up for it. Prices are reasonable, especially if you have the membership since it's only a dollar per skewer. Definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
I think this type of restaurant is still very unique for a lot of tourists who aren't familiar with Chinese style skewers. Also unique to many American cities that don't have a major Asian population. Really enjoyed coming here, and being able to bring my small kids to enjoy the experience. It was their first time cooking skewers on their once and letting the oil drip out. The setting was fun and safe enough for my 6yr old to do everything in his own. Really wish they had one near where we lived, so we could take advantage of the membership. If you guys ever want to open in Seattle/Bellevue, and need a partner, hit me up! Service was quick and very attentive. Our server, Logan was very nice and informative. Food was good, and the flow was very smooth. The total for 2 adults and 2 kids came out to very close to what we would have had an AYCE bbq, but much more protein selection imo.

Yelp
This was next door to Chubby Cattle when we went. Went well. Ended up buying the membership. A good place to hang out and chit chat with friends. It reminds me when I was in China they had a similar restaurant concept. So you pay for the charcoal $3.99 and 99 cents each per person for seasonings. single skewers $1.30 for non members double skewers means the one you pick is double price. Soso was friendly. Will go back for sure.

Yelp
Awesome healthy food fun to cook at table on real charcoal as a member you get 1 dollar skewers plus free charcoal and seasonings! Love this place!
google avatar

Derek T.

Yelp
Love the street food style setup and the options for skewers and appetizers! Some appetizers are a bit salty but overall the quality of everything and flavors are solid. Membership definitely helps the pricing and can be used across all of their locations which also helps!
google avatar

Vivian S.

Yelp
Very fun and interactive charcoal bbq joint that is so perfect for drinking with friends! I wouldn't necessarily come here for a quick or filling meal often, but rather for a night of chatting and drinks with a group of people. Grab your own skewers, squat on some stools, then grill and season your meat and veggies! You can also order additional side dishes, including noodles, cucumber salad, and tofu. Nothing in particular blew me away with flavor.

Yelp
My friends and I decided to try out this new-ish restaurant in Las Vegas. As I understand there are other branches of this restaurant in Southern California. Firstly, service is very good. I was greeted immediately at the door and seated quickly. A server showed up and explained how things work. One simply goes to the wall of refrigerators, pick the items you want, bring it back and cook it over the charcoal. Each stick/skewer you pick costs $1.30 and there are some items with two skewers so the cost is pretty easy to calculate. Parking is pretty bad as there are a few popular places in the small strip mall so one needs to be patient. The interior is pretty cool and with a slight industrial look to it. Music can be a little loud for conversations. My main gripe is the portions of meats, etc on the skewers. It is a very small portion but it works as the grill itself is small too. One also needs to be attentive to the amount of skewers as well as the type of meats on puts on the grill. Fatty items will drip on the coals which cause it to flare up and burn your food before it gets cooked. This makes it a little harder to eat or have a conversation during cooking. I am not too sure I would come back.

Yelp
I'm not sure if it's because I've been to different skewer places, but this place was a big disappointment to me and my partner. First of all, no one was there to greet us when we entered the restaurant. We weren't sure if we needed to put our name on a waitlist or let them know how many are in our party. We waited for about 5-10 minutes before someone came up to us to tell us they will seat us when a table opens up. The seats and tables are very short. I'm not sure if they were trying to capture the feeling of eating skewers in a different country, but it was very uncomfortable. The waitress asked if it was our first time and gave us very brief instructions on how the process works. You select the skewers from the fridges they have and cook/season them yourself. The area where all the skewers are located also has a self serve water. It is a very tight space which makes it difficult to choose which skewers you want. Everyone is tightly packed trying to go around each other to choose skewers. I don't understand their prices because one skewer of tomatoes costs the same as one skewer of meat as they just count how many metal skewers you have. We ordered the scallop and oysters for appetizer. The scallop was very small and mainly consisted of noodles. The oysters were expensive in my opinion for what they tasted like. They tasted like they were covered in oil with a thai chili pepper on top. At that point I would rather have them raw with some lemon. They give you 3 different spices to season your skewers. All the skewers ended up tasting the same even if they were a different cut of meat. The pieces of meat on the skewer are very small. By the end of our meal my parter and I were both unsatisfied and decided getting more skewers was not going to improve our experience. I wouldn't go again.

Yelp
To be completely honest, I think 2 stars is way more than fair. I get it, this place is cool and inviting. It's very IG friendly and attracts all the influencers. The ambiance creates great photo opportunities. But it's still a restaurant at the end of the day and that's what my review is based on. They market their prices as $1 per skewer, but if you read the fine print, you will see that $1 per skewer is "membership" price. If you don't opt for a membership, it's $1.30 per skewer, plus $1 per person for seasonings, and a $3.99 charcoal fee per table. Skewers are SO small in quantity, I'd say half oz for the meats at best and even smaller once cooked. So you end up getting so many skewers to barely feel full. They also market their meats as "waygu" beef but tbh I could not taste the quality wagyu in them at all. Really looked and tasted like scraps. Their sides is what saved the meal for us, though also overpriced. Don't quote me but i think we paid $10 each for cucumber salad and their wonton soup. Sad to say this was not worth the hype and our wallets. For $100 dinner for 2, we could have had a much nicer dinner with much better quality food. Anyway, service and ambiance was great. But we won't be returning.

Yelp
Finally got to try this spot after hearing about it from friends! We are big fans of chubby cattle and their other restaurants in Vegas. This place is open til 3AM which is awesome. There's not a lot of Asian food spots that are open til late. When we first walked in, we were greeted right away and I was very impressed with how nice it looked in here. The layout of this place is impressive as well. Our server Karey was awesome and very attentive. She helped explain everything thoroughly and she also explained to us that this restaurant has been open for less than two months. They have a cool concept going on over here. You basically just serve yourself and the skewers are priced at a 1.30 each! What a steal! There's so much variety. Wagyu, pork, chicken, seafood, and veggies. My personal favorite is chicken skin and Wagyu. There's so much flavor. You can also season your food as well with cumin powder and chili powder. Honestly, the meat is great even without the seasoning. Definitely will be coming back here again. Probably our new favorite spot especially for late night eats after a night of drinking.

Yelp
Who doesn't love Skewers? Well, I love Skewers. I know a little about the Chubby Club Brand. For one, before all the other restaurants opened, I used to enjoy Chubby Cattle Hot Pot on Jones. It reminded me of the Chinese Hot Pot I used to go to in SD. Well, we gave Chubby Skewers a try. Get on the Yelp waitlist ahead of time. We didn't have to wait long as there were larger parties ahead of us. I loved that every table had it's own vent, charcoal and skewer holder for all cooked Skewers. Make your way to the refrigerators and select the Skewers you want. Keep in mind that some skewers is counted as 2. For example the A5 Wagyu. TIP: When the charcoal starts flaming, just keep turning the skewers and it will die down. My favorites were the Wagyu, Pork and Chinese Sausage. I added salt and pepper. Keep in mind that you get charged for everything and it can get costly. With said, I decided to join the club and become a member. It changed the pricing of my skewers from $1.30 to $1 each. I was not a fan of the noodles and didn't like that cumin taste. To me it was horrible. Our servers name was Soso and she was amazing!!! Very nice and she explained everything to us thoroughly. 5 STARS Keeping in mind when you dine here that if you use the seasoning or ask for sauces, you will be charged. -$3.99 charcoal fee -$.99 cents per person for seasoning The membership gives you discounts to the other Chubby restaurants and I'm excited to visit them all. P.S. Tables and Chairs are very low. It was a bit uncomfortable but we managed. Just like sitting at a kids table.

Yelp
Was visiting and couldn't decide what to eat, and ended up trying this place. So happy that we did. Waited about 30 minutes for a table. The inside was nicely decorated and it felt like we somehow ended up on a street in Asia with the low tables and chairs. Each table has a charcoal grill with a vent so you don't smell like meat afterwards. Our server, I didn't get her name, was super friendly and explained how the restaurant worked since it was our first time. We went over and grabbed several skewers, and she showed us how she likes to cook them. Customer service was great! The skewers were good. But the experience made it taste even better. We ordered a few veggie dishes and they were really refreshing and spicy as well. Overall really enjoyed the food and experience. We'll definitely come back.
google avatar

Yelp
Great service and skewer selection. Soso was very nice and sweet. She always checked on us to make sure everything was good. We really liked the black pepper wagyu and tendon. They all had good flavor. We have the chubby plus membership and it gave us a great discount. We like how it's self service too when choosing your skewers. The cucumber salad was delicious and refreshing.
google avatar

Justin J.

Yelp
Ehhhh.... Im a big Chubby fan but skewers were definitely the least good restaurant. Hot pot is for sure the best. Skewers are pretty small and meat quality honestly isn't there. We ordered some beer which took a while to come out. The waiter apologized because they didn't have that beer but we waited 15 minutes before we were told that? Either way, I don't think it's worth waiting for. The store is well lit but loud. Basically a skewer bar atmosphere. Beef tongue was pretty good but the seats are definitely uncomfortable. The cucumber salad is the best item they have. They're baby seats and my legs were struggling to sit comfortably. Quality 2-3/5 it seemed okay but not their BBQ level. Service 2/5 they took a long time to come greet and explain how it all worked. Ordered noodles and beers and that took forever. Maybe it was just the day I went? Value 2-3/5 $1 skewers are cool but they're tiny. And premium items have 2 skewers. Would I be back? Probably not.. Did I regret ? No. :)

Yelp
Our gracious Vegas host wanted us to grab one last bite before dropping us off at the hotel and this favorite eatery of his was a must try for us group of San Diegans. What a cool concept! I liken it to an upscale street food - low chairs and tables, clean and a great variety of skewered protein pieces! Got me some wagyu beef, eel, shelled shrimp, wagyu tendons and lamb. My buddies devoured chicken feet! Every skewer is a dollar and it only cost us $29 dollars for this midnight mini feast. If I came here for lunch or dinner, I would order some rice to go with my skewers simply because I'm Filipino and it's the standard carbohydrate source for me.

Clarissa N.

Yelp
YUM! Went for my first time last night and had such an amazing experience. The ambience is reminiscent of a night market with neon lights, low seating, and the aroma of various different meats filling the air. My partner and I were seated promptly and given instructions as well as the layout of where the meat, water, and order to table stations were. Needless to say our server Xuxu was amazing! It is mostly self serve save for the order to table menu options, which includes various appetizers such as spicy cold tofu (my favorite), cucumber salad (crowd pleaser), and cold mixed three shreds (surprisingly amazing - reminded me of a spicy seaweed salad), in addition to rice, Chinese tortillas, as well as drink options alcoholic and non-alcoholic alike. Our favorites of the skewer options were the chicken wings, lamb, CHICKEN SKIN, abalone, and wagyu beef short ribs. The tables also have a good selection of spices you can add to your meats to season to your hearts desire. I hope this restaurant is prepared to be sick of me because I will be coming back at least once a month! Absolutely loved it.

Yelp
I've been a chubby cattle fan and I was so excited when this opened up. This place was busy, so expect some wait time if you come during dinner. The decor and setting is such a vibe. Being able to pick the skewers and cook them is so much fun. It was delicious from the meats, veggies and also the side dishes. Our server was Logan and he did an amazing job taking care of us. I'm definitely coming back!
google avatar

Melody P.

Yelp
This spot is perfect for a late-night hangout with friends -- everyone grilling together over charcoal and just vibing. Skewers are about $1.25 each plus paying for the seasonings you use. The whole place has that lively, street-food-in-China feel -- music, short stools, and all. The meat and veggies cook super fast (like 1-3 minutes), so you're eating almost right away. Fun, easy, and full of energy!
google avatar

Phi N.

Yelp
Simple and straight forward. You get a good selection of different meats to grill, but requires constant paying attention so that your food doesn't overcook (which happens quicker than you think). -line moves slow so get two trays of food -probably wouldn't wait in a long line, but if you can come eat without a long wait, it's worth it

Yelp
Finally went to Chubby Skewers and am so happy I did. I wasn't sure what to expect, but Karey our server walked us through the whole process to make sure we understood how everything worked. This place has such a cool and chill vibe. And the food quality did not disappoint. I'm not normally a skewer person, but this place may have just changed that. So glad we came here tonight and will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Chubby Skewers is basically DIY barbecue without the stress. The hostess was a total MVP--she walked us through the grill setup, cooked the first batch so we didn't embarrass ourselves, and then set us loose. After that, even I couldn't mess it up (and my cooking skills normally involve burning toast). The menu's idiot-proof: all skewers cost the same, so you can channel your inner caveman and just grab meat, seafood, or veggies without doing math in your head. We (2 people) ordered 39 skewers (yes, thirty-nine), plus non alcoholic drinks and apps, and the bill was only $91 before tip. Special shoutout to the cucumber dish--refreshing, flavorful, and not spicy (at least for me, though my spice tolerance is basically "breathing fire"). If you like the idea of playing with fire while eating your weight in skewers, this place is for you. Bring friends, bring an appetite, and maybe don't wear your fanciest shirt.
google avatar

Sharlene D.

Yelp
We came in and waitlisted on Yelp and it was estimate about an hour. The estimation was pretty accurate for us. The host was really friendly and explained to us the whole process of the self serve system. There were some dishes you can order which you would do through your phone. Our server was super friendly and gave us his recommendations and tips to cooking the skewers. The seating was pretty uncomfortable since the tables were small and the seats were low and tiny. It was almost like the place was built for elementary students lol. But I get the vibe they were going for was street food and the decor represented it well. However my friends and I were pretty uncomfortable eating in that tiny space. Food overall was okay. Everything lacked flavor especially the meats. They charge u for the coal and the dry seasoning which I thought was kinda unfair. The skewers were pretty tiny for 1.30 each. It may sound like a low price but it really adds up. For my party of 3, we ended up spending about $150 total... that's like $50 per person. I might have just gotten ayce bbq at that point. The meat quality was good but it didn't justify the tiny piece u get for the price. If you do come tho, I highly recommend the cucumber salad. The sauce it comes with is really good and I ended up dipping my meat in it since the skewers were so bland. Overall, I don't think I would go back. It was not as satisfying as I hoped it would be. The food was okay, it was a cramped space, and the price for what you get wasn't worth it to me. Maybe a one time try for those who haven't had it before.

Yelp
i absolutely cannot believe we don't have something like this in the bay.. this is a fun experience where each skewer is roughly $1.30 (they may have deals where it's $1 instead) this adds up when you're getting 30+ skewers like we did the crushed cucumber salad is Amazing. certified better than DTF (imho). there is a slight kick, there's loads and loads of garlic, and a good amount of cucumbers (versus the 9 you get at DTF lol) my fav skewers were probably the vegetable mix and the scallops. but everything else was great. make sure to get some of the soy sauce and sesame oil for extra flavor after you grill your skewers. i would recommend that the staff try to clean the grills more if they are able to- you can see the buildup of grease and it is not as appetizing when noticed. but otherwise i like the ambiance and vibe, i like the small little stools. the overhead vents are quite low so beware of that.

Yelp
I thought this place was so fun! It's cute but the low seats and tables we're a bit uncomfortable for the husbands. Highly recommend the lamb skewers! You grab your skewers and cook it yourself so it's a bit hard to judge the "food" but the kitchen items that we ordered we're delicious! I was a little confused but I guess if you're a member there's a special member only menu? I may be wrong ... don't quote me! I miss Fei Xiang Gong in LA ...but this place is a great alternative for me hahaha Expect a line, it gets real busy but I think it's worth a try!

Yelp
Chubby skewers is such a niche and fun concept, grab as many skewers as you want and then sit down and cook your own food. Our server, Karey, was attentive to our tables, solving our grill issue promptly. I highly recommend trying this place!

Yelp
I'm a big fan with the Chinese BBQ, loving the chicken wings. Let start with walking into the restaurant, it was around 11:30pm, the place was packed, there no host, just a tablet for singing in and you get onto the queue, after signing in, it will text you saying it will be 5-15 minutes wait. While I was waiting, people just keep on coming in, most of them are Chinese I can tell. But damn...11:30pm, why are you all not sleeping, is Sunday night, don't you have to work tomorrow? lol After 15 minutes, a server came to the front asking who here first. I'm thinking...if you need to ask that, what is the tablet sign it for? While walking to my table, the server explained to me I get my own food, is .99 cent per person for the spices charge and $3.99 for the chocolate charge per table. All the grill food charge $1.35 per stick, and you see like wings, they used 2 sticks, so is actually $2.70 for the chicken wings. They first suggest you to scan the barcode for food coming out from the kitchen, but I'm only there for the grill food, so I didn't order anything else. The server also told me where the bathroom located. lol All the tables and chairs are very low, is like you in Asia eating street food I'm not sure why some people saying this place is cheap, and I even saw a video, the guy saying 2 of his friends and him, 3 total ate under $100. I myself spent $78, including $12+ tip, which I think is little crazy, 20%, is all self served. No wonder people are blowing up with the tipping culture here in America. I went to get the food myself, I cooked myself, I only missing washing dishes and clean the table myself, if I do that, I'll be qualified working there. lol Food is good, cuz I cooked myself, make sure you put all the seasoning on it. The services. Now I'm not really sure what direction they going for here, but I give the services 5 out of 10 But first I don't think they have enough help. I only see 3 servers, and 1 person clean the tables. Even tho this place is small, but because is so packed for the late night crowd, they need to schedule more people to work. I saw 3 people came in around 1:15am, the crowd die down a little bit, but still have maybe 8-10 tables, these 3 people without signing in, nothing, they saw some people got up, and they just walked in, one of the server like no, no...please wait. Which I'm glad to see that, people like that walking in like they own the damn place, wait your turn! A lot of tables is available, I'll say probably another 8 or more tables is empty, but the server make them wait for another 10 minutes. Which I'm happy to see that, teach those people a lesson. Like I said before, this place is pretty much self serve, the server don't come check on you that often What bother me the most, is actually not the restaurant fault, but I think they should make it a rule, like I said I was there around 11:30pm, and close to 12am, these 3 women brought an infant here, at 12 freaking AM! Not just that, look at my picture where they put the baby, in the middle of where people walkway, this place with loud music, loud people talking, smoke, and....here is an infant out at 12am in the morning. I left around 1:30, and they still there. I think all businesses should make it a policy pass 10pm, no child policy. Like I said this is not the restaurant fault, just bad parenting Over all 4 stars

Yelp
Been waiting for a new skewers spot ever since we lost Kushi, and this place did not disappoint. Chubby Skewers offers a different concept than Kushi though, paying homage to Chinese street food. The tables and chairs are a lot lower to the ground, which is something to be aware of if you're super tall or maybe have a hard time bending down lol. The skewers are self-serve at $1.30 each and you cook them yourself over charcoal grill. The food itself was good, we kept going back for the lamb and wagyu brisket. It may be a bit intimidating at first if it's your first time eating skewers like this, but the employees were really helpful in making sure we didn't completely burn the place down. By the end of our dinner, we were pretty much pros at cooking. Our server Soso was very informative and friendly as well. A small con was probably the volume of the music. They were blasting EDM pretty loudly, which was a little bit overstimulating and made it hard to hear my party or the staff. Be prepared to wait a bit, it was pretty busy especially on a Friday night and we waited an hour. Overall, we had a great experience and might even consider getting the membership!

Yelp
Chubby Group continues to expand its Las Vegas footprint with Chubby Skewers, bringing a street-style Chinese skewer BBQ experience to town. As with any Chubby concept, it comes with long lines and high expectations. The first thing you'll notice is the setup: low tables and chairs, packed in tightly, which mirrors the authentic street food vibe but isn't the most comfortable seating. The restaurant feels crowded at times, especially when navigating the narrow walkways to pick up skewers. The skewers are self-serve from a fridge, all priced evenly at $1.30 each (or $1 for members). The selection is decent but not as extensive as I hoped. On the plus side, the meats are well-prepared--skewered tightly with no loose pieces--and turn out tender and flavorful if cooked carefully. Some come pre-marinated, while others rely on the four seasoning blends provided at the table, which lets you customize to your liking. What really makes Chubby Skewers stand out is the ventilation system and charcoal grilling--meats cook evenly without smoke overwhelming the space, and the charcoal adds an authentic depth of flavor compared to electric or flat-top grills. Overall, this is arguably the best Chinese skewer spot in town right now. I'll definitely be back, and I'm hoping to see more variety in skewer options and maybe a little more breathing room with the seating in the future.

Yelp
This is based off my second time here as I forgot to review after the first visit. We were craving something on a Saturday night at 10pm and this place immediately came to mind as they close at 3am. There was no line but parking was chaotic as it usually is in this plaza. We had 5 people in our group with 2 of us being return diners and the other 3 were new to this concept entirely. Our server did a fantastic job explaining how everything worked to them and even guiding them through the cooking process. We hold the $58 Chubby membership that waived our $3.99 charcoal and $0.99 seasoning fee (per person) and gave us the $1 per skewer deal. The concept is very user driven. We select our own skewers from the fridges at the front and bring them back to cook over binchotan charcoal at the table. The skewer selection has expanded since its grand opening in August to include A5 wagyu beef, beef innards, chicken breast, chicken innards, seafood, lamb, and veggies. You order any prepared dishes such as noodles or cucumber salad from a QR code on the table. Our favorites this time around were the wagyu black pepper beef, chicken cartilage bones, fried potato, and pancake. The cucumber salad we got has a considerably larger portion size too. They now offer alcohol to pair with food as this is a traditional drinking food. The one glaring con here is the table and chair height. Mimicking the streets of late night Chinese food, they are short. Anyone over 5'3 will be uncomfortable sitting so low and hips will ache after prolonged sitting. I think it's by design to emulate the experience and as a short person myself, it doesn't bother me but the other tall folks they were not comfortable. At the end of the meal, we turned our container of skewers in to be tallied up along with our drink and appetizer order. Between the 5 of us, we spent $50 on skewers (50 skewers) and $20 on drinks and the appetizer. Again, this is based on us holding the Chubby Membership so without it, it is more expensive and not worth it in my opinion. 8/10 for the second visit. Service was great and since it's one of the only skewer restaurants in the city for now, we'll be back soon.

Yelp
I got a chance to try this place with a friend. It's definitely a different and fun concept. Much like street food. The venue looks crowded and busy but surprisingly clean. Upon entering we stood and waited for a staff to acknowledge us and seat us which they did within 5-15 mins. There were K-pop music going on that were modern. Now the thing that we weren't crazy about but I know it goes with the theme are the low knee high tables and chair. I went back with my husband who is 5'11" and he kept hitting his knees on the table. It is self serve for the most parts. You gotta pour yourself water and bring it to your table, along with all the skewers. You can order a handful of items by scanning a QR code, such as rice, soup, appetizers and the staff will bring those to your table. I thought it was fun and delicious. They have Wagyu beef which in my opinion are a bit tough but I love their oyster mushrooms, pineapple skewers. We also tried their croakers (which are 2 skewers sticks) abalone, (also 2 skewer sticks) chicken skins, tripes were delicious and surprisingly soft, beef tendon, eel, octopus tentacles, and more Wagyu. My husband tried their lamb skewer and eel. All the meat on the skewers were small amount and you cook them yourself so don't forget to turn them on the grill! I ate a burnt chicken skin because I was busy chomping lol They have interesting beverages beside their normal soda and water. They have their Asian milk tea and lemonade as well as beer specials. We don't drink beer with our meals but our neighbor partake of the deal and their mugs of beer were huge. At the end we had to flag down a server who came and counted the skewers sticks we left in a tin can and tally up our bill. The bills came out to $50+ for 2 ppl which isn't bad. They automatically charge $1.99 for the sauces and $3.99 for charcoal in which we didn't use their sauce at all and mention it to the server who offered to remove the charges. Thank you for that. Overall I would go again if you have friends who's never tried it or if you aren't that hungry lol. They do offer annual membership which I think is $58 that has its perks such as $1 per skewer instead of $1.30 each, a free soda, which my friend did not get when he inquired altho he has membership, and free use of the sauces.

Yelp
Staff were nice, late hours. Well-lit, low tables and chairs. No wait when we went, in fact pretty slow. Self-serve fridges. Meat tasted just ok. They charge a seasoning fee, and they tried to charge us for it even though we didn't use it (party of 2, shouldn't have been hard to see). They also miscounted our skewers when time to pay the bill, we had to correct their skewer count. Left still hungry and unsatisfied but I can see this place being good for others who want a late night spot to chill and converse if they don't have a huge appetite but want to nibble on some protein.

Yelp
Brought my wife here for her first time we celebrated her birthday she loved it. You can't beat the 1.00 skewers of course you have to be a chubby member to get the dollar skewers special. We will definitely come back maybe next time I'll bring the whole family.

Yelp
Wow! Now there is a Chubby Skewers! Here for the soft opening and the Chubby experience continues. Chinese style skewers cooked in front of you. With the assortment of beef and chicken to choose from you can't go wrong. We had pretty much everything. Enjoyed the cold noodles and oysters as well! This place will be a local favorite for sure! The hip modern style of the restaurant made it a fun place. Also the service was on point. Will return again.

Yelp
I've been a fan of the Chubby Cattle empire and wanted to check this place out (it wasn't open last time I was in town). What's nice about this place is that you can choose whatever skewer you want and then bring it to your grill to cook. The quality of meat is great and the price is super reasonable. Our servers Karey and Lily were attentive and answered any questions we had. Overall, I am coming back here again.

Yelp
Decided to try this new spot since we love Chubby Cattle! It was good, love the concept...it's different than your usual dine in experience. We were a little lost at first but the staff is super helpful. They have a bunch of meats, seafood, and veggies in refrigerators and it's self served where you just add it to a tray. They offer a bunch of sauces and alcohol too! Definitely a perfect spot to go for happy hour, after work, or late night! We brought our son, don't really recommend if it was busy, thankfully it was steady while we were there. The cool thing about this place is it made me feel like a little kid with how low the seating is, it's like kiddie chairs lol.
