Why Banning Kids From Restaurants Is Terrible For Our Society | Bon Appétit

"You have establishments that are inarguably only for adults—bars and most fine dining restaurants—and others that are specifically for kids, like Chuck E. Cheese, where it would be weird or even creepy for childless adults to hang out." - ByJessica Blankenship

BB was the best hostess and my 4 year old had a BLAST at his birthday party this morning. Some guests even said it was the best bday party they’ve ever attended because their kids had an amazing time. As a mom, I loved it because it was extremely budget friendly and stress-free; I loved being able to stroll in and see it was all set up.

Had no issues while there. The staff was friendly, looked clean, short wait times even on a busy Sat with parties. The kids all had fun. Not too expensive for a little fun day out.

Great place for kids and adults too. The games have enough fun. There is a zone of games for smaller children too. The cards are a great way to easily keep track of game points and winning tickets. Staff was very friendly. The food is sub par. The salad bar is mostly fresh items but basic.

We hadn't visited in years, so we checked it out again. Now, instead of tokens, you can buy 30 minutes of playtime for $20 or pay $18 for 30 games on a card. It’s not the same as when our kids were young, and games cost 25 cents. The staff is still rude, most games were broken like before, and there were hardly any customers. Kids need a better place to go...

Expensive party rent and won't allow you to bring in some food. 30% of the game machines are not working (I have been there twice and it happened on both times I was there). Their pizza is okay it's edible the wings are dry. I guess it is okay for occassional visit but not for annual birthday celebration.

I had an hour to kill waiting on my husband while he got a massage so I took my 16 month old in,she had a blast and we didn't even have to spend money. The kids all looked like they were having fun and mine enjoyed all the lights and pushing buttons. It wore her out. We appreciated having a cool spot to hang out it while waiting.

Avoid like the plague. Prices have skyrocketed. Paid $47 WITH A COUPON for 2 (60mi ) game cards. Had planned to save one for another trip but thankfully asked (definitely not told)and learned that the card would become useless by the end of the day, whether we ever scanned it or not. Half the games malfunction. At least a handful are inoperable. They've removed a ton of games and put in some tiny trampoline area. Even when you play the games you'll be lucky to get three tickets per play. Heck, a great deal of them will literally say "0 tickets earned", so there's still no payoff at the prize counter. Absolute and utter waste of money. You know it's bad when the 8-year-old says "lets just go" before the time is even up on the card. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.

I took my niece and nephew there. They always want to go. When Chunk E came out, my niece hauled butt to get away from him🤣 as long as he doesn't come out she's good. It's a great place for the kids to have fun! They will cry when it's time to go!

Yelp
2 stars for pizza was pretty good. About 2 employees were alright, rest were standing in a corner not looking alert. Pretty clean in there i guess. Paid like $3 for a small cup. Had to keep putting card or band against every game or ride everytime(pressing down multiple times to get it to start). They should be ashamed for the ridiculous amount of tickets it costs to get anything barely at all. Especially when you're also selling the prizes; $12 for a small rat doll, $ 30 for monopoly. If the kid plays hard and tries to win ( which you dont everytime) they should get more tickets, or you should lower amount of tickets needed to win prizes. You needed like 150 tickets to win some inch size insect toy. Cut off for party was 2 hours, there were about 3 party tables still empty, make longer slots. Rat came out for like 5 mins then dipped off. Security is like non existent. This is in gastonia, which isnt the safest. When i walked in there was no one up front near swing door, no one behind counter. Saw someone behind drinks and got her attention. I could have been a dangerous individual with weapons and would have got straight in completely.

Yelp
My daughter and I were here for a birthday part on Saturday and I think we both had a blast! I've been here once before for a church activity and both times I've found the place to be very clean with friendly, helpful staff. While we were there I saw staff wipe down the machines on a number of occasions. They've also really made things more parent friendly by using a swipe card system with various value deals such as bonus' and unlimited play for certain times. For the party we were at my daughter received a card that gave her unlimited plays for 2 hours. There isn't a full band anymore like in the 1980s and early 90s but they still have some music and a live Chuck E. Cheese who comes out to visit with the kids. About the food: The pizza is really, really good. Much better than I remembered as a kid. If I lived closer I would easily come here more often with the little one to pick up some lunch. I was way more impressed with Chuck E. Cheese than I anticipated it. Definitely a pretty cool place to hang out with your younger kids for a couple of hours.

Yelp
We've been here before but they now have a Wednesday deal which is fantastic! All you can play for 1hr. It works and the kids have fun without spending too much time nor money. We're having a great time here! Always plenty of parking too. The staff was friendlier than usual which was a plus. We'll be back...

Yelp
Good place for kids to play games. Food is better than I expected it to be.. While there today several birthday parties were going on but they no longer have the animated characters on stage.

Yelp
I took my daughter here tonight and we had a great time. The games were all functional properly and the facility was clean overall. I ordered some cheese bread from the menu and was satisfied with what I received. I didn't have any issues with this Chuck e. Cheese at all.

Yelp
3 stars for my daughter but in reality it's the environment and culture that sucks. I've been here many times and I always sit back and observe the employees here. Most of the employees are young which is good and not so good. I personally think they should reevaluate their age requirement for employees. The employees are not outgoing, excited, and adventurous with the children. I watched and heard many young employees give standoffish energy, rude responses, and have also ignored children right in my face. Revamp your hiring age bracket chuck-e-cheese.

Yelp
I'm going to make this review short and sweet. The Good, Friendly staff. My niece was stoked to see Chuck E and even received a high-5. The Bad, There's shady kids lurking around for tickets and the power cards to steal. My nephew got his card swiped by somebody but I guess I'm partially at fault. I'm not from around here so I didn't expect anything like this to happen. Therefore I would highly recommend purchasing the wrist bands that attaches to the card, which are avaliable at the counter. I would also recommend eating before your visit.

Yelp
What a rip off!!!! Not just this one but all of them. I put so much money in those games so my kid could get tickets it was crazy. When we went to the counter(with fists fulls of tickets) the only thing she had enough tickets for was a tiny pencil eraser that she was to young to even have(she was 3). Not only was that lame but the whole time we were at the birthday party they bugged the crap out of all the guest to book a party. The party was lame and way over priced. The pizza is a greasey mess...had better frozen pizza! The cake was dry and tiny..not even enough for all the kids. They rush you in and rush you out. Nobody that came to that party booked a party and now takes their kids to Monkey Joes...you should too.

Yelp
If you do not have kids = do not read this, as you may be extremely bored. Yes, I can't believe it, but I find myself reviewing a Chuck E. Cheese. So I asked my kids where would you like to go - 3D mini golf, roller skating or Chuck E. Cheese. Turned out to be a silly question. There was a deafening "Chuck E. Cheese!!!!" as an answer. For some reason kids just love this place. They have a dedicated person at the entrance who assigns a stamp that can be seen with a black light with a specifiic number for all your family members - check in together - check out together. There's a section for younger kids and one for older kids (not a place for teenagers though). It was very clean including the bathrooms. They have quite a few employees that were all very genuinely friendly and seem to like kids. Chuck E. made an appearance (yes, even I got a high five); he was throwing tickets in the air, like he was making it rain hundred dolla bills ya'll. Kids were scrambling and even parents down on their knees (I was not one of them) grabbing for tickets. My kids love trading their tickets in for candy and toys; they feel all grown up making their own decisions. As everyone in the free world knows, they do birthday parties and have pizza. Their salad bar and pizza looked okay, but the food snob in me just can't bring myself to eat there. My kids had a blast and actually thanked me for bringing them. And best of all, the cost was $10 worth of tokens.
