It was my first time here and it was a great experience. Calm, relaxing atmosphere. Had the classic steak sandwich with fries and it was awesome. Reasonable prices as well. Side notes: If you like ranch for dip, you only need one side. Their side of ranch is in an actual bowl, not a tiny little cup like most places! Also, they have phones at the tables for ordering, but they are no longer operational. Still a cool place!

Google
The restaurant had a homely feeling and was taken there by friends who wanted me to try their Chicken Fried Steak. They claimed it was the best in town. I have to agree it was delicious and the food tasted home made with love. I had never tried this Southern food and it really was very good. The mash potato was a great accompaniment to the steak as well as the chilli tots. The burger also generous in size.

When you want comfort food this is the place! I’ve tried lots of places that serve Chicken Fried Steak but my taste buds always lead me back here!

Google
When you ask for 2 cups of sauce and they put 1/8 in each cup. Saving money or being cute? Either way, with the price of your food, being cheap on your condiments is really unsatisfactory.

Google
The food was extremely good. There was one issue that kept it from being a 5 star experience. Putting my wife's side salad with her hot meal. The salad was uneatable by the time it got home. The chicken fried steak dinner was amazing! Baked potato was not the best but the mashed potatoes and gravy were really good.

I stumbled upon Chuck House after work today, and I'm thrilled to have discovered my new go-to burger spot in Oklahoma City! This hidden gem exceeded my expectations in every way. I opted for the Okie burger, and it did not disappoint. The double-patty masterpiece featured fresh lettuce, juicy tomato, creamy mayo, crunchy onion, and a tangy sweet relish that added a delightful twist. While I personally prefer whole leaf lettuce, the shredded variety didn't detract from the overall flavor. The crinkle-cut fries were cooked to perfection – crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. The generous serving size was a pleasant surprise, easily twice what I've received at other restaurants. The staff at Chuck House were warm, friendly, and attentive, making me feel right at home. Their hospitality added to the overall enjoyment of my meal. Chuck House has earned a spot among OKC's top burger joints. With 10 mouth-watering burger options, there's something for everyone. If you're a burger enthusiast like me, do yourself a favor and swing by Chuck House. You won't be disappointed. Rating: 5/5 stars

Google
I haven't been here in years but was over on this part of town and used the drive thru to order. They still have the best fried okra. Service was wonderful. Very friendly staff. Chicken stripes and toast with gravy was really good, hot and fast. Loved it. Recommended!!!!!!!

Google
The food was delicious!! The service and people are super friendly! Love the atmosphere! The fried okra!! The best we have had! The chicken fried steak sandwich is the best in the universe! Hands down! We will definitely be coming back anytime we are here!

Yelp
If you're looking for a meal that will leave you speechless, Chuck House is the place to be. I ordered the chicken fried steak dinner, and calling it "one of the best I've ever had" doesn't even do it justice. It was perfection--crispy, tender, and smothered in just the right amount of rich, flavorful gravy. Every bite felt like a revelation. The atmosphere is just as impressive as the food. Chuck House has this amazing old-school charm, with a unique twist: you sit at tables equipped with vintage phones to call your order straight into the kitchen. It's such a fun and nostalgic experience that sets the tone for the meal. When the food arrived, it was fresh, piping hot, and every bite was a testament to just how much care goes into their cooking. The flavors were spot-on, and it's clear they take pride in serving up quality comfort food. Chuck House is an absolute gem--if you haven't been, you're missing out.

Yelp
"The Best Chicken Fry In The Universe" proclaims text on the side of their building - which may or may not be true, but their chicken is pretty damn good! Sandwiches, tenders, drumsticks and more offered and the interior is surprisingly roomy. Excellent service as well. Check it out!

Yelp
I really enjoyed coming to this place. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant was very clean. I got the chicken fried steak and it was delicious. The service from the girl that took my order was very nice and helpful. The quality of the food and the service along with the atmosphere makes for a great restaurant! I recommend this place and I will definitely back.

Yelp
This review is regarding a call in order. I ordered: *2 chicken fried steak sandwiches- no Mayo. *2 orders of onion rings. The employees were very friendly, order was prompt. Food was fresh and yummy.

Yelp
Come for the chicken fried steak dinner, or sandwich. Nothing fancy. Would probably try the desserts next time, but happy to satisfy my comfort food craving with the chicken fried steak dinner or sandwich.

Margie C.

Yelp
It's a staple in Oklahoma City and is always good. One of the best places to get a chicken fried steak dinner in town in my opinion.

Yelp
It's crazy that I've been here only twice giving that I've lived close by for nearly 20 years. The first time was a few years ago to try their infamous "home of the best chicken fry in the universe." The chicken fry was a bit too salty for me if I remember correctly. I didn't finish it and I was disappointed. I came in the second time and tried something else of course, the chicken fingers. I like it much better than the chicken fry which is their signature dish. I guess chicken fry is just not my thing. I love the decors inside. I love the table set up. I love that there is a phone that you could call to place your order. I love the menu holder as well. I just love everything about the set up. Unfortunately, both times I came in the phones were not working and currently under repair.

Yelp
I gave food that was delivered to my chihuahua babies and I will NEVER go back. They sent the wrong food and told me I was SOL to get it replaced. I could not eat what they sent. $30 down to toilet or dog bullets. This is not the first time i gor the wrong food even with picking it up. THEY NEVER FIX IT!!!!! Chucks on Midwest BLVD. MWC OK. My Chihuahuas enjoyed it. I despise people who do not care about their customers.

Yelp
I love this stuck in time restaurant. My husband got the chicken fried steak meal with mash potatoes and white gravy and I got the ultimate steak sandwich meal. My husband was not 100% sure if the mash potatoes were instant but he loved that the steak did not have one bit of gristle in it. My sandwich had bacon, cheese and fried onion. No gristle at all. Fries were hot and crispy. Free refills on drinks. Their ranch salad dressing was homemade and delicious. Parking was great. Some of the cloth booth seating are torn. Service is friendly and quick.
google avatar

Margee G.

Yelp
Great chicken fry. Loved the gravy and okra too!! The atmosphere is funky but okay. Service great. Easy in and out location.

Yelp
Here it is, old school comfort food at its best. Some like the chicken fried sandwich, others go for the chicken fried steak meal. I'm a meal kind of guy so that's what I get and it's always excellent. Do not come in here with your sights set on some exquisite cuisine because this is all southern fried all day. Staff is helpful and kind. Food is excellent, hot, and at the ready quick and easy. Ambiance is super casual and friendly. Five of five baby! I hope they never change!
google avatar

Yelp
The chicken fried steak is great and so is the garlic house salad dressing. It's got a cool retro phone to be notified when your order is ready

Yelp
I can't believe I never have eaten here before! My husband said he had gone several years ago, but I was looking for some food comfort food at a decent price when I discovered this gem. I ordered the Chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy and a side of okra. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and a side of corn. The first bite immediately took me back to my childhood Sunday afternoons, eating with my grandma after church. The breading was delicious! The fried okra was good and crispy and the mashed and gravy was pretty good too. I'm not a fan of chicken fried steak but my husband wiped his no plate clean of that tells you anything. 2 hearty comfort meals plus 2 extra sides, and 2 drinks for $35! Will definitely be back.

Yelp
One of the last places to get a quality chicken fried steak! CFS is one of my favorite things to order! However, finding a good restaurant that has a decent CFS, is hard to find! Chuck House is an old reliable and I'm glad they are still in business! Not a great location, but great food!
google avatar

Yelp
Ate here for the first time this evening. I was so impressed with the chicken fried steak / mashed potatoes and gravy. The chicken fried steak was cooked perfectly, tender and just enough breading/crisp on the outside. Best I've ever had! will be back.

Cory K.

Yelp
Chicken fried steak is excellent! Welcomed with a smile, food came out quick and was perfectly cooked. Will be back for sure.

Yelp
I have eaten at Chuck house numerous times from the 80's to the present day but for some reason my wife had never tried it out. I took her there for lunch today and recommended she try the classic steak sandwich. She's a fan of the steak sandwich supreme from Del Rancho so I couldn't wait for her comparison. Her verdict, "Much better than Del Rancho". I ordered the catfish meal with crinkle cut fries, delicious. Chuck house has an old fashioned feel to it but don't let it put you off. 40 plus years of doing it right & they look like they're gonna be there another 40 years.

Yelp
Look, I don't care what anyone says this is the best chicken fried steak in the metro area and maybe even the state, but I haven't traveled that much. It's always fresh, it's consistent, and most importantly they manage to keep the whole thing crispy even though it's covered in gravy. Seriously at the end of the meal, that thing was still crispy on the bottom and all the way around. Not one soggy piece. There are a few other local places that make great CFS (cheevers, kendals, the Winston) but the price/drive isn't worth it when you have Chuck House minutes away just cranking out [arguably] the best chicken fried steak. I've lived in OKC 30 years and I've had them all. I will stand by my local recommendations. Chuck House is king (or queen) of the chicken fried steak in OKC.

Yelp
I was wanting a salad they have really good salads so I walked in about 815 pm they close at 9 pm and I was taking it Togo however the lady that worked there told me she was already putting it up and shutting it down WOW that was crazy to me I guess new rule SALAD BAR closes at 815 needless to say this was very rude I have managed restaurant industries for ten plus years I would never have an employee shutting down 45 minutes early or neglecting a paying customer it's sad they have really good food but service not a plus!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Good chicken fried steak sandwich! I also had tater tots. Friendly service is a plus! Check them out!

Yelp
Great food and excellent service- probably the best chicken fry in Oklahoma. My favorite is the #4. Don't sleep on this place and don't be fooled by location- it's legit a d you'll come again and again

Isai R.

Yelp
Honest review about chuck house the food was great it was really good. The service was great the staff were friendly and welcoming. The tables were clean and chairs were also clean everything looked great my only issue was the restaurant had a weird smell to it idk if it was just that day I went. I still recommend you come and try it out they do have a drive thru so you don't have to dine in I for sure will be coming back.

Yelp
Best Chicken Fried Streaks & Loaded Baked Potato. I really Enjoy The Salad Bar As Well. The Service Is Great & The Food Is Hot & Fresh! The Ambiance Is Excellent! 5+ Stars!

Tyra M.

Yelp
The manager is very racist. I've come through there since I was a kid and every time I'm there whenever that specific manager is there she's very disrespectful. She cussed me out over the phone and talked to me very crazy until I eventually just had to ask for my money back and leave. She was super sweet to everybody else in there, except for me and I was the only one of color there. Will not be going back ever again

Yelp
Their sign caught my eye dozens of times driving down 10th St. and today I just happened to be in the neighborhood and in a hurry for a to-go dinner. So I said, why not? I ordered the Chuck House burger solo with very unsure expectations. My first impression happened when they handed me the to-go bag. It was heavy! They definitely didn't have the burger sitting in the back under a warming light. Freshly toasted bun and assembled. The Chuck House burger is interesting. 2 thin patties with cheese, relish, and sloppy joe meat. (And now the name makes sense... lots of ground chuck!) I'll be honest. This was not an esthetically pleasing dish. It WAS however, quite tasty. For a $6 burger I have no complaints. I'm really curious to try their sides at some point in the future.
google avatar

Shirlyn S.

Yelp
They had a drive through which made to-go really easy especially during covid! My friends ordered their chicken fried steak, which they said was tender and delicious, unlike other chicken fried steaks which are usually tough. I had their boneless chicken with gravy, which was pretty good, and a huge portion too. The sides were just alright but if you're getting the salad, I would recommend the creamy garlic - reminds me of the white sauce they use on Mediterranean food!
google avatar

Ryan E.

Yelp
Order at the counter kinda restaurant...many choices on the menu to choose from. Food was very good! They cook it when you order it. Very good find near the water park in OKC. Plenty of parking. Drive thru as well.
google avatar

Anna F.

Yelp
Chuck House has some damn good chicken fry. It's not a place I'd choose to dine in, but luckily they have a drive thru that's relatively quick considering this isn't exactly fast food. I've had both chicken fried steak and chicken, and they were prepared very well. Juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Their sides aren't the greatest, but still pretty good. The toast is a welcomed option for the dinner meals as well. I've gone with this option rather than the sandwiches. Reasonably priced and filling, I think I might find myself here a little more often. I also need to give their burgers a try!

Yelp
An Oklahoma staple restaurant! Everything here is incredible and my kids loved the chicken fried steak, potatoes and country gravy. A family friendly gem: affordable, quick service, and home cooked meals. Can't go wrong with anything on their me

Daryn B.

Yelp
It's been over 15 years since the last time I ate here. I was in town for a work trip and decided to give this place a shot to see if it was as good as I remember. The chicken fried steak was perfect. The seasoning was spot on and the steak was cooked to perfection. It is good to see places like this still around over the years.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is a legend. Probably the best chicken fried steak sandwich around. Not only is it huge and meaty, the crust is perfectly crisp but not too dense. My boyfriend and I got a side of Fried Okra and Onion Rings. Honestly, we were so full, we had to bring home leftovers. We could have split the sandwich and a side and been ready for a light dessert. Definitely get your money's worth. Delicious every time!
google avatar

Kyle K.

Yelp
It's as good of a chicken fried steak as you'll find anywhere. One of the few must go places whenever I am back in town. Great food, great value. It's an old place and looks it, but part of the charm here. Love it

Snatch C.

Yelp

Yelp
We've lived in OKC for over 17 years and never tried Chuck House. I wanted something different and this place came up in my search. I'm glad we went and I'm mad I never had before. Great chicken and sides.

Brett F.

Yelp
Know for their Chicken Fried steak sandwich and platters. Onion rings were good too.

Yelp
As a California native I was used to eating cube steak most of my life. Not until I moved to OKC over a decade ago did I come to learn about the battered and fried version known as "chicken fried steak." I naturally came to like this OKC staple. I've eaten the Grandy's, Cracker Barrell's Artesian Hotel's and Texas Roadhouse versions of chicken fried steak; each having their own spin on quality, size and flavor. However, I had heard about the Chuck House on many occasion over the years, but never set foot in their 10th St. location. Some even lauded the place as having the best chicken fried steak in town. I finally gave it a try, ordering the chicken fried steak dinner with fries and corn. Let's just say I was underwhelmed! The steak was bland, as was the corn. Like NO flavor except for the gravy. The fries are just basic fried frozen fries you can get in your local Walmart freezer. And I'm not one of those people who pours table salt on his food. I'm not sure what the hoopla was/is about, but I'll stick to Texas Roadhouse, where the flavor of the chicken fried steak is unmatched and the portion size is generous.

Kelly S.

Yelp
Best chicken fried sandwiches in the universe, I also love the people here that run chuck house! I eat here for lunch but would like to come for dinner and I will soon.

Yelp
Driving up to this place, seems a little bit strange to see an old fast food place now converted into a place know for chicken fried steak. Once inside, it was busy and tables were full of people eating or waiting to eat. We saw phones at the table, and wasn't sure what that was about, we picked up the menus and knew what we wanted, so after watching everyone else, we finally figured out to go to the counter and order. When it's ready they call us on the phone at the table. It took a while, but they were busy, the food came out and was excellent. My chicken fried steak was nicely breaded, but was a thin cut of round steak, so far it was on the right track, the milk gravy was thick and had that country flavor. My fried okra was crispy and plentiful. This was priced for around $6 and well worth it. I would come back, and it's on the cheap eats list for sure.
google avatar

Danny S.

Yelp
Their slogan is "best chicken fry in the universe." And I wholeheartedly agree. I've been getting the chicken fried chicken for years now from back from when they were in Edmond and it never disappoints. You get a huge piece of amazing battered chicken smothered in just the right amount of gravy with a generous helping of fries. They are surprisingly consistent also. Just from chance alone, you would expect the portions to be different sometimes or the gravy to have different consistencies but it tastes the same EVERY TIME. Great place to go if you're feeling Southern comfort food. If you dine in, there's a pretty retro feel to the place with old school telephones at the table that you can pick up and call the counter to order with. If you call in orders, you can go through the drive thru to pick them up which is convenient.

Yelp
The food is ALWAYS good and the prices are too bad either. Boneless Chicken Strip Dinner was on point as well as the okra and the chicken fried chicken sammich. Yum!

Karla M.

Yelp
Still the best place in Okc for a chicken fried steak sandwich! Onion rings were delicious too! Haven't been there in a while and decided to stop by. Super quick service and hope to return soon!

Yelp
I went in very excited about this place based on reviews. I didn't end up very happy after eating. Their chicken fried steak was average at best. Not terrible but didn't seem home made. The Fried Fish was a complete disappointment. It was just a frozen fish patty, deep fried. Gross. The tarter sauce wasn't thick and it was too sweet. They need to switch to real fish that is hand-battered. Also, if the food isn't gonna be great, at least give more sides. I got about 12 green beans. The fries were a small. The bread given wasn't even really toasted. It's just the little things that can make a meal really good. They don't really seem do that. The chicken fry dinner is up to $7.50. This place has potential. Everyone was friendly. Seemed like a good local business which I like. But for the price, I expect a better product.

Kimberly B.

Yelp
Tell Del Rancho to take a hike!! Chuck House is pretty accurate when they say BEST CHICKEN FRY IN THE UNIVERSE! We ordered 2 of the Original Steak Sandwiches. They were so big we could have shared..... we didn't! The steak was delicious, tender, but still kept just enough texture. It's the real deal! The okra was really good too. It tasted like my grandma used to make, not the frozen stuff everyone else serves. We just went through the drive through, but had some great banter with the lady on staff. She was witty, and fun! We will definitely go back, and sit in the dining room next time! If the rest of the staff is like she was, they must be treating their people right! I'll tell everyone about this place!! I can't believe I'd never been there before!
google avatar

Emm S.

Yelp
I don't know where to start. Everything was sooooo good and piping hot! The chicken fried steak is the best around.. crispy, seasoned well and not a lot of tough inedible pieces. They don't dip the meat in egg so if you have an allergy to eggs like my son, this is a safe meal. The cheese stuffed jalapenos had huge jalapenos and they were crisp on the outside with a lot of cheese on the inside. The tater tots were fresh and crisp on the outside and cooked all the way through. The fried okra was crispy and not a bit soggy on the inside like so many other places. I was really impressed with the corn dog. There was no gooey batter on the inside and they accomplished this without burning the outside. This is my new go to spot for chicken fried steak.
google avatar

Yelp
Good food! Burgers, fish, chicken fried steaks. Your General Oklahoma food joint done right and old school. Their onion rings are the best. No hassle, you order from the phone at the table and they then buzz you when your food is done. Doesn't look like much from the outside but don't knock it by looks.

Yelp
I had lunch at Chuck House on a Thursday around 11:30. There were only a couple of tables seated, but people steadily trickled in over the next half hour. As many other Yelpers note, this is a no frills place. There's not a frill to be seen for miles. But, it was clean, so that's good. The telephones at the tables for ordering are a nifty throwback, but I can see a 4 top being crowded if it's full, since the telephone in the middle takes away some table real estate. I ordered and was called for my drink and salad bowl within a minute or so. The salad bar, as you can see in the picture, is very basic. Standard iceberg lettuce, the main dressings, main veggies, etc. They had potato salad and macaroni salad that MAY have been homemade, but they both still tasted very close to store-bought. That being said, it's a fine salad bar, the house dressing was good, and I would order it again. Just don't expect anything beyond typical ingredients. The meal took about 10 minutes. For $6.44, you get a quarter pound chicken fried steak which covers more than half of the plate, a nice size serving of mashed potatoes, an ocean of grazy covering it all, and a slice of Texas toast cut in half. I added okra, because, you know, okra. The steak is solid, very nice breading to steak ratio. It was appropriately crunchy, near fork tender, but that's not a deal-breaker for me. The gravy needed a little pepper, but otherwise this was an above-average gravy. Great consistency, no lumps, and about 90% of the way seasoned to a good pepper cream gravy. The potatoes were very basic, which I suppose is fine given that most people will order them with gravy. You aren't really tasting the mashed potatoes anyway. The okra was standard fried okra. The breading wasn't too thick, but it didn't appear to be hand-battered. That being said, you get a very large side order for around $2.50. I didn't finish it, and I love me some fried okra. The Texas toast was store-bought thicker white bread, toasted. I didn't detect any butter. Very basic toast. I'd say the food at Chuck House warrants 3-3.5 stars. I give the extra bump to 4 because of the value. The CFS meal for $6.44 is really a nice price, I would say the meal would still be worth it at $2 more. I will return.
