Google
Really nice, low-key spot for German-style ales and lagers in Portland. Been plenty of times and every beer hits the spot, though IPAs are far-and-few-between for those who only drink those styles. Servers are very friendly and helpful if you need a style recommendation! For vibe, they have a back room with a TV if you'd like a low-key spot to catch a game or two, and two dart boards with really nice lighting! For bargain hunters, specials on liter pours every Friday, follow their Instagram if you like German beers as they run events fairly often! If you ask me, a great place to kick off a night of fun, or wind down if you went out early!

Chuckanut's P-Nut Beer hall is a great spot tucked away in SE. Easy to miss, but also easy to love once you find it. With easy access from transit or car you'll have some of their best staple beers to choose from. I recommend snagging a burrito from Aprisa a mere block away. Great little event room for private parties or game nights or even the occasional podcast. Outdoor seating. Also uniquely seated under one of Portland's best little beer distributors (Day One), so you know you're right where the action happens. Really glad to have access to this award winning brewery through this location. Hear more about this and other craft brands on The Brew Happy Show weekly podcast.

Showed up late in the evening again, barely making last call. It was empty but had a good conversation with the only other customer and staff. Only had the Japanese lager in keeping with my final last days in Portland, no more hopps for awhile. They also had an MKIII in the corner I didn't get a chance to feed. Worth a trip if in the area

Google
Well-balanced beers in a cheerful, upbeat space. Their award-winning Pilsner is crystal clear with a clean finish and smooth mouthfeel. You have the option to make new friends at the communal table or snag your own two-top with your favorite person, or enjoy some fresh air on the patio.

Had to go for the taster tray, all were fantastic beers. The lagers are top notch.

Google
5 stars for the beer, 2 stars for the location and atmosphere. Good (not amazing) beer selection, roughly a dozen taps. Beer quality is excellent. Talked to the bartender and found out the brewer has decades of experience, has started other breweries, and is a consultant. Something I really liked is they are not IPA heavy! I am not a hop head whatsoever, and I for one am so tired of every brewery having mostly IPA. This brewery specializes in European beers. At the time of my visit, Oktoberfest, pilsner, summer pale, helles lager, vienna lager, kolsch, and others. I sampled almost everything. Beers are solid, clean, flavorful, and fit the respective style perfectly. Bartender was very talkative, gave plenty of samples, told me all about the brewery and owner. He treated every customer with the same respect. "Hey brother, how's is going? What can I get you?" I didn't care for the location and atmosphere. It's just blocks from Crux, not really a good location, difficult to get into. Atmosphere leaves much to be desired. The bar is tiny, only 3 chairs, but plenty of other seating. No big open spaces. I have no idea what this place used to be, but it's not a good place for a bar. Everything is just so plain. I went for the beer and really enjoyed that. Go for the beer, not the location.

Great beer selections. Friendly service. Enjoyed all six tasters

Google
Nice little place, but parking can be a challenge. The street parking is limited and competitive. The place is larger inside than it appears from without. The beer is mostly German style, including the Ipa. There is outdoor seating for nice days. Inside, there is a foosball table and a couple of dartboards. I expect there would be a busier atmosphere if the parking situation was better.

Yelp
Come here for the Kolsch. Atmosphere ~ the outdoor patio is really a few picnic tables looking at the industrial neighbors and tents. Go inside and it is a plain warehouse with some sparse Chuckanut brand decor. Very quiet vibe. The small draft bar is away from the games so not much interaction with the bartender. A few snacks, darts & crisp beer.

Yelp
Always a super chill spot! Brian, the bartender is super friendly and very knowledgeable. They have lots of space for a range of cozy seating arrangements. Their beer is some of the smoothest, crispest beer I've ever had! Totally recommend coming here and think it'd be great for groups!

Arnab K.

Yelp
Great place for a casual hang out. The stout that I tried was amazing. Recommend this place for hanging out with friends and playing games like foosball and dart too.

Paul K.

Yelp
Chuck a nut! Peanuts all around! Spot is simple. Beers, TV's, foosball, darts, tables. All the essentials of a good beerhall. I had the Kolsch and it was excellent. I didn't see much of a food option which is okay, but I definitely enjoyed the beer option. I'd encourage anyone to get Kolsch or pilsner or stout. Solid options at this corner spot. FYI, this does not impact the rating of this establishment, but I think parking was a little tricky since it's kind of in a neighborhood district. Come earlier than expected to ensure you get some parking for a good time!

Yelp
Located within Portland, we biked here from downtown on a Sunday night in February and surprisingly there wasn't anyone there. Located at a corner, there's lots of table spaces both downstairs, separate room, and a closed upstairs area. Plenty choices of beers, I got the flight which included everything and it was fairly priced. My friends all got IPAs. They have a separate room with a tv and tons of games for people to play. We just had one drink right before dinner. It was a nice chill spot for some brews.

Yelp
Great space, great beer, great service. They specialize in Lager, Pillsners. I, for one, was ecstatic to see so many varieties of Lager on the menu - and the LACK of hoppy, IPA, bitter-beer-face brews that Portland has become known for. They are super dog-friendly (inside and outside), plenty of inside seating - varieties of benches, tables, back areas, etc. It's a great space and there's a few large picnic tables outside too.

Yelp
Came back last night with Mexican food from a food truck at Level Beer on Sandy. Didn't stay at Level because it was raining and the dogs were getting wet....not much covered outside seating at that Level Beer location....so we went to Chuckanut. The dogs were very happy. There weren't many people there when we arrived. Sampled the smoked helles and the maybock. Started with the Vienna lager and my wife had the maybock. The guy behind the bar was a dog fan because he came over a couple of times to give Wilson a belly rub. They have dog dishes if your dog needs water, but you may have to ask for one. They still don't have a food truck but they're working on getting one. Got some cans of helles lager to go. Cheers.

Yelp
Great experience today! We have followed Chuckanut from when they had been in Bellingham and are excited they are in Portland. It did not disappoint. A fantastic selection of the cleanest tasting lagers you've ever had. If your just looking for Hazy IPA, pastry stout, regular IPA, or any trendy styles this is not your place. The location is open, clean, and not overwhelming. The bartender was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Glad to have this in the Portland area!

Devon P.

Yelp
Great space, friendly service, tasty beer! What else do you need? This is a great spot especially if you aren't a big IPA fan. I went to college in Bellingham, so it was such a treat to have some Bellingham brews again here in Portland!

Rebecca S.

Yelp
A great place to take your pup for a low key atmosphere and brews. Plenty of table space to strike up a game. I appreciate the windows and the plants. People are super friendly and will chat with people not in their party. Good community vibe. Of course the beer is great but from all those awards ya'll already know that!

Dan R.

Yelp
Tucked into an industrial area, longish narrow space, friendly enough. Lagers only, a little daunting to a hop-head like myself, but on a quest for new breweries. Good of them to have descriptions of all their beers. Had the marzen and the hop lager, both clean and light. Again, no lager expert. Friendly beertender. Going with 4 stars with the benefit of the doubt, that a lager lover would give them that or more.

Beerboy M.

Yelp
Solid beers. Chuckanut turns out consistently good lagers. Probably stronger with their lighter pilsners- Helles and similar. Hybrid ale/lager Kolsch is an excellent example that can stand up against versions from Koln. Service OK, decent location with a view toward Pill Hill and lots of street parking. Would be better with food, but you can't have everything.

Yelp
Leaving off one star because of the lack of a bike rack (the staffer said they would install one sometime). Other than that seems like a great spot. I looked around inside but did not have a drink there, only got cans to go. This seems like a terrific addition to Portland's beer scene -- the brewery (which is in Burlington WA -- this is just a taproom) makes impeccable, sophisticated lagers. Yes we already have a few lager-focused breweries here -- Occidental, Zoiglhaus and Heater Allen come to mind, and Von Ebert, Ecliptic and Baerlic, which do a variety of styles well, also have been hitting it out of the park with lagers and pilsners lately. But Chuckanut has a great reputation backed by a bunch of awards. Their presence here should boost the whole scene. It's also cool that it's part of a beery neighborhood, with Baerlic, Beermongers and Apex all nearby. And if you want a pickle with that beer -- Moonbrine also is in the 'hood!

Adam M.

Yelp
I was gonna leave a star off because of the lack of a bike rack but then I realized that's absolutely retarded and has nothing to do with their delicious beer or service so here we are.

Lynnea N.

Yelp
The beer was delicious and the service was great. The tap list was different than most places as it only had 1 IPA. Which worked great for me since I enjoy less hoppy beer We will definitely be back!
