Friend of mine recommended this spot for some good breakfast by the beach that's dog friendly. Lucky to find a spot across the street. Staff was very friendly,food was delicious and dogs didn't mind hanging out. No to go boxes needed,food was that good! Service was awesome as well cannot forget the server's!! Return, definitely.

Went two days in a row. Had the Weasel and a Popeye Omelet with extra avocado the first morning. Pancakes and oatmeal the 2nd day. Great place with nice view of the ocean. In or outside seating. Great place not to be missed when in Long Beach!

Chucks is so pleasant to go for breakfast. The service is quick and the food is yummy! Their omelets, potato wedges, and pancakes 🥞 are delicious

Parking was easy and right in front of the restaurant. The food came out so fast and the waiters were so kind and attentive. Definitely coming back. Oh, and the mimosa was so good 😍💗🤤

This morning, I had breakfast with my wife here. We had a great experience with our first server, who had gone on her break halfway through our visit. However, a server with red hair named Gladys completely ruined what would have been an enjoyable breakfast. She didn’t say a single word to us as she slammed a water cup and threw our to-go container on our table, even though we politely replied thank you each time. Yet, it was met with a cold shoulder and no response. She was hospitable and cordial to all the other guests, laughing and smiling. My wife had never experienced such rude service before and couldn’t help but feel it was discrimination based on her race. When I asked the server about her rude behavior, she simply said she was trying to be efficient and serve all the customers because her coworker was on break. What makes us less important than any other customers? The experience has been traumatic for my wife, and I can assure you that we will never come back to this establishment. Unfortunately, one person can spoil what could have been a place my family and friends would regularly visit. I’m unwilling to take any chances and will find a better business to support. I would never want anyone that I care about to have such an awful experience. Lastly, my wife pointed out that our table was the only table not warned about street sweeping, which I had not realized at the time. Literally, every other table warned that they should move their car to avoid getting a ticket… except ours. Why was that? To say that the service is unacceptable is a gross understatement, and I’m heartbroken that my wife had to endure this. People like Gladys should not be working in the service industry, and she should be greatly ashamed of herself.

Right by the park and beach 2 minutes walk away. Food choices were healthy and comfort food. Can make changes per your diet. Friend switched out pork for turkey sausage. Service was wonderful! Parking can be had in front in limited spaces or along street side for free for 2 hour blocks of time.

Emma, you are an awesome server, we had a great breakfast and you never kept us waiting. This was such a cute little diner over looking the beach. I loved the little fire place inside. The prices were perfect for the location and proportion of food. The service was wonderful, everyone in here is friendly and willing to go the extra step for you.

Food was bland, I'm sure that is because most of the clientele are elderly. I can always add my own salt or hotsauce. Not a big deal. No follow up service, the waitress came to our table twice, once to take our order and once to bring the check with the food. The food over course is overpriced as well. The only redemption for the place is the esthetic.

Ate here for brunch on a Sat Afternoon. Went inside to get seated, it was open seating. Sat ourselves outside. Waited for a few minutes for someone to attend to us. Took our orders. 10 minutes later we received our order of French Toast, Tuna Melt and cottage cheese. All was delicious! I recommend this place! Pros: Food is delicous, service was fast, French fries tasted like McDonald's fries lol (if you like Miickey Dee's fries) , Cool vibe by the beach, OLD school. Cons: Pending what time you go, parking is horrible, One restroom, if seated outside.. Flies everywhere!! Place is small! And The number #1 reason... drum roll please..... CASH ONLY!!! If you don't have cash, they have an ATM machine inside that Charges a service charge of $3 or more per bank institution! Overall, I will come back.. only If I have cash. Nobody carries cash anymore. The restaurants way to save $$$ from a tax write off.

Best old skool diner spot. Adding to the nostalgia of the joint; they're cash only. They do have an ATM inside. This is a great spot for brunch and a beach walk. Dogs welcome! They generally have a wait on the weekends so come prepared with patience and an appetite. Oh and if you're a mimosa person, order them here! They're larger than your average flute of champagne. The friendly, neighborhood vibe will keep you coming back. See you next time!

PS: Bring CASH, they have an ATM too though Been living in Belmont Shore for over a year now and always saw Chuck's Coffee shop on the corner and never pulled the trigger. Finally stopped by and I'm glad I did. Love the old school diner type of feel, I haven't ate a place like this in a while. It seems like this is THE local spot and their are a bunch of regulars dining in to catch up with their friends. They have plenty of inside and outside seating. We sat outside and enjoyed the ocean views and cold breeze! The food here is pretty decent and it's exactly what I expected= SIMPLE! This place isn't spectacular but gets the job done. They have scrambles, skillets, omelettes and more. I got the Fisherman's Breakfast which came with 3 Eggs, 4 strips of bacon and sausage ( I did two bacon, two sausage), 1 toast and potatoes. I would totally get this again, especially ordering potatoes because they were almost like chips. They were thin and were sorda crispy.

Old school diner vibe. Service was great, and food came out fast. Have been running by this place every weekend and finally stopped in to check it out. They have a full breakfast and lunch menu. Didn't have to wait to be seated. Indoor and outdoor seating available. CASH only! They do have an ATM and a pay phone! Will definitely be back. Banana nut pancakes were terrific!

Sausage scramble and plenty of hot coffee made a great Sunday morning breakfast at Belmont Shore. Service was speedy and great. Cash only is the only drawback but ATM if tou need it.

This is a great place to stop for coffee and light breakfast when taking a break on a cycling trip. They have a full breakfast and lunch menu. We had coffee which was good and my husband had banana nut pancakes which were delicious. They have new outdoor furniture with umbrellas and have remodeled indoors. The service was also great. It is convenient to the beach, walking and bike paths. As noted it is cash only.

I've been here so many times, I guess it's time to finally make it official. This place is awesome, it's right by the beach so definitely great views. In the winter time when it's cold they have a fireplace inside which keeps it nice and warm. Went there just this morning and always good food. I try everything from their French toast, oatmeal and their specials. Which I would definitely go for again. The service is incredible. It's very diner by the beach kinda vibe. But with such an authentic personality. None of that over the top sickly niceness. Just down to earth "hey it's good to see you again" vibe. Very consistent food here. This is a definite hole in the wall kinda place but to the locals it's a true gem.

A staple of Belmont Shore and a true mom & pop establishment. Tasty, quick (not on the weekends with the beach crowds) and fills up up. We love chucks and it's part of our great neighborhood. Cash only

Delicious yet simple Diner that focuses on the quality over the aesthetics. These days you just see all these colorful new "brunch spots" on Instagram that look nice and the food looks good but the quality is bad. Chucks was simple yet delicious quality breakfast. Not only that the customer service was great. The server was quick and nice. I live all the way in west La but I'd definitely come back here the next time I'm around Long Beach

OLD SCHOOL DINER ON THE BEACH Bring cash! They don't do credit/debit cards. You will find an ATM here. The place is small but there is outdoor seating with a view of the beach. I had the eggs Benedict and it was very good. The coffee was also not bad. The decor is basic diner tables but there is no counter. Service was very good, and prices were definite inflation busting. So, really an excellent experience for what it is. A reasonably priced basic breakfast/lunch diner. SYOY

Chuck's is a great local diner on the beach! Ended up coming here for breakfast. Great vibe with classic tunes, friendly tunes, and huge plates of food. They have a lot of Mexican-style fare on the menu; got the carne asada omelette and ate well. Be sure to get the crinkle -cut potatoes!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT COMING TO THIS PLACE! The waitress with the dark hair was very very rude and not accommodating she did not check on our table after serving us our mediocre food! You would think a diner by the beach would be a relaxing and enjoyable way to spend your sunday breakfast! And when we were trying to pay for our 40 dollar bill we gave her 60 and she asked if we wanted our change back! We will not be coming back to this "diner" ever again

One of my favorite breakfast spots in Long Beach! I ride my bike down the beach from downtown, and have breakfast. Food is good as well as their service. I always sit outside so I can enjoy the beach scenery.

Chucks for the win after your Saturday morning breakfast on the beach spot! Does not matter what you get just make sure you get the little circle potatoes! Don't know what's the secret for these little things being so amazing but they are! I can do a bowl of these by themselves! Just remember Chuck's is cash only but there is a ATM on site if needed! Great food, great service and great ambiance indoor or outdoor!

I've never had a bad plate!!! If you live in Long Beach, you know this place is consistent with their food. There's indoor and outdoor seating, right near the beach and it's your classic breakfast diner type spot. Can't ask for anything better! Note: Cash only but they have an ATM machine smart!!

Chicken fried steak was 6 out of 10. Beans were delicious home made. The burger was absolutely bomb. Fries were crispy and the weight staff was great.

Chucks is great. This day, as always, my daughter and I got a Weasel to split. Other than being Luke warm when served the service was good. So glad they have gone to glass for beverages. Makes the Mimosa's taste so much better!

Chucks is a nice coffee shop for the local community who are near the beach but not in Belmont Shore... Three of us had Patty Melts that are very good... Their Claim to Fame is something called "The Weasle." We'll check it out the next time...

A must.... Here visiting CA from the DMV by chance walked past this place. Two days later decided to give it a try for bfast. A WOW!!! Bfast was deliciousssss. Service was fantastic.... A very nice quaint place.... Don't let the outside fool you.. don't look like much from the outside.. but you will be very happy with inside food/service. One thing to mention Cash only . It's worth it!

In love with this local spot! The service is outstanding and the staff treat us like family every time we visit. Such a great local spot to eat and feel welcomed. Lots of love here. Once upon a time, our gaggle of geese went about enjoying the beautiful Long Beach morning when the sounds of stomaches began to growl and "hangry" tempers began to surface. What a perfect old school LB place to stop for an easy breakfast and cup of coffee. Located next to the beach, it is a must! This breakfast/brunch nook has been in the city since the '60s. I remember a fire some time ago, but Chuck's has long survived that incident. Family and dog friendly (outside seating), this place has selections for everyone. If you like breakfast and don't need fancy, Chuck's will do the trick! The End.

This is a great little diner spot right next to the beach. We had to order the Weasel as its what they're famous for, kind of reminded me of the Mess from Schooner or Later. We also ordered pancakes. Great service, nice location, and reasonable prices.

This place has change will owners passing sad to see food quality and they now serve sub garbage catch up bran instead of Hines that is filled with sugar and taste like it's from a smart and final bargain place will not be eating there again it's sad to see when quality slips. It's not as much fun been going there for over 20-30 years

This charming diner has been in our lives for over 30 years and we love everything about it. The staff is incredible and service oriented. They work so hard to make sure that all their customers have what they need and are attended to. The food is constantly delicious every single time and we are never disappointed. We have our go to favorites and like to try new items as well. There is indoor seating in traditional booths, you can sit at the counter or dine outside. Chucks is also dog friendly so feel free to bring your fur baby along as well. Chucks is a neighborhood spot that makes everyone feel welcome

Awesome humble breakfast diner. Service is always great! I love being able to just order a simple quick breakfast, read, and have some coffee.

Our server was G. We arrived one hour before closing. G was friendly, efficient, and forgetful. We received our coffee. No refills. Upon ordering, I asked for a little extra gravey. It never came. Even after reminding her once. Otherwise, everything was alright.

Service was prompt. Food was excellent. I ordered the Chilaquiles. They were perfect, extremely delicious. I was more than satisfied. I only wanted more because it tasted so good but I needed to be good. I will definitely be back. Also the atmosphere was perfect. It view of the beach the sun on your face and the breeze was so relaxing. A perfect spot to enjoy the day. It is dog friendly as well. Couldn't ask for more.

I love chicks. Service is always fast, and the food is always delicious. It's tough finding a parking spot at times but I do enjoy coming. Next time, I plan on purchasing a sweatshirt, lol just cause I love this place. It's a yummy cheap breakfast spot with a semi view of the beach.

If I could give zero stars I would. This place has terrible service and mediocre food. The hostess is an imbecile and doesn't monitor her wait list, letting multiple groups jump ahead of other parties. When I called her out, all she could say was, "you're next". After waiting over 40 mins for a table outside, the hostess then comes to tell us "they're now closed", bc they over sat and the kitchen is backed up only at 12:30. Get it together, we have been coming here for years and now will never come back & will encourage everyone we know to stay away from this place as well. Xoxo

Love this place. The food is good and the vibe easy going. I like the many Mexican food options for breakfast and that you can get tortillas. It's a great spot to go to when you want to walk along beach beforehand or afterwards.

I have been going here since the 70's, the food quality has always been excellent, the servers are great. The weasel is my go to breakfast.

After hanging out at the beach we were starving so we went to Chucks Coffee Shop. I was tempted to try their chilaquiles special but since this was my first time here I had to try their Famous Weasel! Omg it was so good! I've never had chili on my eggs before and their fried potatoes were so yummy as well! So happy I got that! It was all outdoor dining when I went and they extended into the street in the back which was nice. All the tables were spaced out well and I felt safe eating there. It is CASH only so come prepared.

This is such a classic. We were staying a block away and decided to check this out and what a pleasant surprise. We went back the next day! It's a diner with the diner vibe and a lot of great brunch options. We like going out for breakfast when we're out of town because we don't get to do it as much when we're home. My husband had the Mushroom Scramble and that was a winner! I had the French Toast which was just as good! Staff is very nice and we look forward to coming back here when we're visiting Long Beach. I forgot to mention that it's on the beach! Note: We were visiting around the COVID-19 outbreak and they were very good about keeping everything clean.

Pretty meh. Biggest complaint is that it's cash only. Who carries cash anymore? It's filthy and just a way to avoid taxes by a business. I don't trust it. Food is pretty boring and normal. Nothing special. There's obviously regulars and they treat the regulars really really well while kind of ignoring everybody else. Tables are always sticky and the place is pretty dirty. The bathroom is absolutely disgusting. The staff is very very nice though. They probably deserve better. I live very close, very walkable, but I only come here when I have a guest in town and it's an easy way to get them breakfast. I never go just on my own. There are so many other places around here that are better.

I have been coming here since I was a little kid which is almost 30 years now. So I have nostalgia glasses on when I talk about this place. But if you are looking for solid breakfast food and a great cup of coffee then this is the place for you.

Whats classic, well is classic. An opened air, screened diner with in and outdoor seating. Classic breakfast and lunch items, even with counter seating. Chili seems to top a lot of eggs and items here. Lots of parking. Friendly service. **cash only**

Do not let the Yelp reviews fool you, GO TO CHUCKS. It's totally a local spot, that is gate kept by the locals. It really is just a little diner, cash only and checks written out by hand. Gives a very homie vibe and delivers good food for the price point. This is not some LA styled, aesthetically pleasing spot. It's a great place to chill, eat essential breakfast food for great prices. It's an all time favorite of mine. Worth the trip.
