The food here is awesome and the service was great as well. I would highly recommend it to anyone who lkes seafood.

Incredibly fresh and tasty seafood. This is a combination fish market and restaurant. Staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean. I ordered the Hawaiian poke. They have three sizes and I opted for the middle size. It was a very generous portion. You can select the protein or proteins for the poke and I went with ahi tuna that was fresh and flavorful. This is a great place to eat healthy, clean food.

Relaxed seafood spot with my personal favorite tuna melt sandwich. They mix in some green chilis with the tuna which takes it to a whole nother level. Also the aioli has a really good flavor, but it is potent so use it sparingly

We tried this location a while ago and everyone left with something that hadn’t worked. But I was craving fish and decided to give it another chance. I stopped in for a late lunch and enjoyed. I had halibut, maybe a little overcooked but worked well with the brown butter chipotle sauce. The clam chowder side was amazing, big recognizable pieces of clam and potatoes. Fries were fresh and crispy. It was good enough I think I’ve convinced the fam to give it another shot.

First time here with a group. We sat outside on this beautiful sunny day on the 1st of February. At first I didn’t realize we had to order inside before sitting down. I enjoyed 4 shucked Oysters & the Hawaiian Spicy Tuna Poke Bowl. I swapped out the rice for quinoa. Alex had suggested this and it was the perfect portion for lunch. As for price it’s a bit high but it’s not like you’re near water in Arizona. I would definitely come again to try their other options. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere very nice.

Fresh, delicious food and great service. Our first time here we were warmly greeted and welcomed to ask questions. We were given samples of “Kyle’s Candy” which turned out to be some of the tastiest salmon ever! Chris was awesome, friendly and had really solid recommendations on dishes and sauces to pair well with the fish we selected. Everything from fish and chips, clam chowder, California halibut, coleslaw, white fish salad- was the best we have had in Arizona. Clean restaurant with plenty of seating in a bright airy space. Gluten free options are available and very good here. Highly recommend!

I can’t say enough great things about this Chula location. We stopped in tonight with my mother-in-law, just to pickup some fresh fish from the seafood counter, and ended up having an awesome time at the bar for happy hour. The seasonal Apple Pie Martini’s were so good and the service was even better. We will definitely be back!

Delicious fish tacos and poke bowls. My poke bowl had fresh ahi tuna, salmon and scallops. I've never had fresh scallop in a poke bowl before and the texture and subtle briny sweetness was incredible in this format. The quality and craftsmanship is top notch while the vibe is laidback casual and comfortable.

I honestly wasn't expecting anything more or anything less than what my family and I received when dining at Chula. I was fully expecting a seafood restaurant with fresh fish, and that's exactly what we got. I love the counter ordering experience because I'm all about efficiency and getting in and getting out (IE fast food that is also high quality). I order the large sashimi and a side of grilled salmon. My husband ordered the lobster roll and the spicy tuna poke bowl. I ordered my kids the cheeseburger. Everyone was happy with their food. My husband especially, which is saying something because he is INSANELY picky. My food was tasty but I'm not going to say it was the best food I have ever eaten. The sashimi was fine, but a little bland and a bit over priced for what it was. My grilled salmon was also fine, however, it was a tad bit too burnt in places, yet undercooked in the center, so a little confusing. The burnt flavor sort of overpowered the rest of it. I'd dine here again, but I'd probably order something other than the sashimi platter next time. I know for a fact that my husband would eat here again and order the exact same things though!

Chula Seafood is one of my happy places Sundays are basically one giant Happy Hour the entire day! I've ordered a "million" things and loved every bite. Bonus points because I can also stock up on fish for those nights I pretend I'm a culinary genius. Service is always on par with a shot of friendliness. The place is always clean and it has a good neighborhood feel. It's my go-to spot for a quick bite and a glass of wine.

Chula in GrayHawk is great! Talk about Fresh!!! Their fish is delivered daily so their selection changes every day, along with their specials. You can get the best fish at their market to cook or grill at home. They have smoked fish, candied fish and dips too. We make Baked Stuffed Lobsters on New Year's Eve and get our live Lobsters from Chula as well! They also have a cute little bar and a restaurant area to dine in for lunch or dinner. They have a happy hour that most people aren't aware of. It's Mon-Sat 3-5pm and all day on Sundays!! Love the chula rita, grilled shrimp tacos, and it's $1 off all oysters for happy hour. For lunch we've had hatch chile tuna melt, fish tacos, and different poke bowls, all delicious. The staff is super friendly, everything is very clean. It's five star quality seafood!

Chula is one of those places that is a casual fine dining place where you have prices that are almost as expensive as fine dining, but without the hassle of having to wear super formal wear or being forced to pay some valet fee. My crony and I tried a cornbread item, the salmon, caesar salad, and a chocolate ecclair. The cornbread looked like a pancake and was absolutely delicious. The caesar salad was standard and had just a tad too much dressing in it. The salmon was above average but its burnt parts sometimes overpowered the flavor of the salmon itself. The chocolate ecclair is a small chocolate ice cream bar and it was absolutely delicious. Service was nice but we were the only customers in the store after all. The whole place was clean and aesthetically pleasing.

Swung by on a Sunday around noon. Fairly busy, but plenty of available seats as this location has many seating options inside and outside on their patio. So many delicious options on their menu, but I ended up choosing a dozen raw oysters and the seared scallops with a side of clam chowder. Sunday is also their all day happy hour so the oysters were a great value! Food came out quickly and was as amazing to eat as it was to look at. Everything was so fresh and nicely prepared. Would have ordered more if I didn't have to get back to work. I frequent their other locations, but this has become one of my favorite spots.

We were kindly welcomed in by the staff at Chula seafood. They asked if it was our first time, which it was, and they walked us through the menu. They had great recommendations and advice on the menu! We ordered: The swordfish with a side of clam chowder. The swordfish was very juicy and had a nice grilled flavor to it. The clam chowder was unique and had a different flavor profile from other clam chowders but it was still very tasty! The scallops with the wife of rice was so tender and juicy! The food overall was very good but we felt it was a little expensive with current prices.

I was so pleasantly surprised by this little spot in Grayhawk! I had been curious about it for a while and finally my husband suggested we do it!! It was great! Very fresh seafood options and yet it's nicely priced! I'm a huge fan of clam chowder, shrimp and all things from the ocean! I'm from the PNW where we are spoiled with an abundance of fresh seafood- this was the perfect place to go when you're having a Craving for Seafood!! My husband enjoyed the fish and chips and I was so impressed with the shrimps!! The chowder was fantastic also!! Don't wait to try this place- I'm mad at myself I hadn't been sooner!! Great job!!

Stopped in because I saw it on the inkind app! Tremendous selection of fresh seafood and menu options. I chose the Hawaiian Poke Bowl w spicy scallop. Very spicy and very good! Presentation, freshness and the folks that work here are very friendly!

This is some very solid seafood. It's very fresh and very tasty. The Hawaiian Poke bowl with ahi was fresh and reminded me of seafood I would get next to the ocean. It was also a huge portion of (I ordered the six ounce dish) and is easily 2-3 meals for me! The lobster roll is good, but there's not a ton of lobster considering its New York price tag. The ceviche was also very fresh. You can also purchase fresh fish to cook at home. This reminded me of a seafood shop in Long Island instead of one in Arizona. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I ordered take out in the store and was asked multiple times how I was doing and if I needed anything while I waited. It looks like a casual chain, but it has a bar in the back and they have drink specials throughout the week as well. I can't wait to come back for happy hour to try the oysters!

Good spot. Went to this location for the first time two weeks ago and it was solid. Very friendly service from a gentleman, I forget his name, behind the bar. Food came out quick and overall was good. Today 9/28 a different story. Ceviche bland. Fries overcooked. Worst of all - the young lady behind the bar was aloof and clearly was not happy about working today. Or at least that was the impression she gave. Overall she did not make us feel welcome. Customer service is key. She needs training in it

The lobster roll was amazing but is about $10 more than other places nearby. It does give more of a sit down experience even though you do order at a counter but for 4 oz of lobster for $32 with the bun and a small traditional bag of chips vs. $21 I have seen on other menus I would give others a try next time. I will say they have very friendly staff and a lot of variety of food options so that might be a draw. My husband got a poke bowl and said it was a little bland compared to places back home. I also got a glass of wine which was basically table wine which is fine but again a little expensive for what you get.

What a pleasant surprise! It doesn't look fancy but WOW, a really great dinner last night! We sat outside on the patio with our well-behaved dog and had cocktails and dinner. The service was excellent. Very kind staff and had the attitude of helpfulness. I had swordfish with a lovely bourbon sauce and a Caesar salad. Perfect portion of fish, cooked still moist and flavorful. I loved the salad. It had a lot of garlicky dressing, which I loved. If you want less, ask for it on the side. For me, it was excellent. This was my first visit. We will be back for sure!!!

Best seafood in AZ hands down !! The staff is very friendly and recommended some amazing food for us . We got the grilled oysters , raw oysters , lobster mac and cheese, the lobster roll , fish and chips and the crunchy taco . Everything we had was soo good. My favourite was the grilled oysters and the lobster mac and cheese . Not to forget the raw oysters and quality of all the food is exceptional.

Ordered takeout from Chula seafood for an early Mother's Day lunch while my mom was in town. Called right around 10 am to order food for pickup and Chris was so nice taking my order. The food was ready right when my husband got there at 10:45. My mom and MIL got the Mediterranean bowl with shrimp and they loved their order. The shrimp were seasoned really well and packaged separately from the rest of the bowl. I ordered the grilled tacos and got 2 shrimp tacos and 1 fish taco. Looking back since we ordered food for takeout, I should have picked something else because the taco shells got soggy but they were still delicious. I preferred the shrimp tacos over the fish but both had so much flavor. My husband ordered the California burrito with fish and the burrito was massive and there was a generous portion of grilled fish. Overall, loved the food and the seafood was definitely fresh. We will definitely be back again.

Big fish and chips fan and have been having trouble since moving here 6 years ago. We lived in Boston and LA where seafood wasn't land locked. Chula has my favorite fish and chips now here in the area. Also, 5 stars to the soft shell crab sandwich!

I had been to a festival where this restaurant provided samples. This made me want to visit the restaurant. As I entered, you could see the simple surroundings as it is obvious they have quality seafood. Ordered oysters, sorry the picture is missing the one I ate, and a Mediterranean bowl with the catch of the day. The service was great and when placing an order, the front person was extremely helpful. A little pricey for lunch but the food was worth it!!

Our bartender AJ was swift, efficient and helpful when we placed our order. He was very nice and poured/ mixed my drink perfectly. Always a good sign. The chowder was great. The fish and chips... even better. The shrimp cocktail was better than most. Very casual atmosphere. Full service at the bar, table seating is walk up ordering. Worth a visit!

Tried Chula Seafood for the first time yesterday and got very ill following the meal. My wife and I stayed at the restaurant a while after we ate to chat for a while and before we could leave I was already running to the bathroom with severe stomach issues. I took today off from work as I have been attached to the toilet most the of the day with horrible stomach aches and constant diarrhea. Safe to say, a return visit is unlikely!

I've reviewed Chula several times no need to rehash. I'm reviewing a particular dish I had tonight because it was perfect! The Grilled Shrimp over squid ink rice and black beans with a sweetish salsa was a perfect bite. Salty, semi sweet, garlicky, and the Tostones on the side had an incredible crispy light texture... Bravo chef! It was perfect!

I love this place. Came to visit my brother in fountain hills and he was in the mood for a lobster roll. I always try to support local restaurants as opposed to chains. Found this gem on Yelp and glad I gave it a try. It is his go to place at least one a week. They have daily specials and happy hour specials. Came here 3 of the 5 days I was there. Forgot to take a picture of the poke and tacos. Everything I had was fresh and prepared expertly.

Love the laid back neighborhood atmosphere meets freshest seafood vibes. Great spot for the Grayhawk and DC Ranch neighborhoods and beyond.

Scottish tank salmon was delish. Salmon from Scotland raised in tanks are typically farmed Atlantic salmon, and the tank-based systems are usually recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) or closed containment syst. Yum!! I forgot to ask: Are they fed a natural diet or processed pellets? * Are any antibiotics, dyes, or hormones used? * What are the Omega-3 to Omega-6 ratios? * Is there third-party certification for sustainability (e.g., ASC, GlobalG.A.P., or Soil Association in the UK)?

Part fish market, part restaurant, all amazing! Wow. Just talking to them I can tell they take food seriously, it's their art form and it shows. They were so friendly in helping me choose what to try and helped me explore some of their options. The shrimp burrito was fantastic, the clam chowder...should've got a bigger bowl! The teriyaki smoked salmon and candy is also amazing!!!!

This is a great counter order fresh fish restaurant. We loved the atmosphere of this North Scottsdale location. Very clean, plenty of seats and tasteful decor. The staff were helpful guiding us through the menu and checking on us. We had a variety of fresh fish dishes spread out over 2 visits. The white fish ceviche was loaded with fish, tomato, lime, cilantro, jalapeno and served with a generous helping of tortilla chips. This was a very fresh and filling starter. We shared the clam chowder which was more potato than clam and the flavor was just one dimensional. My husband opted for fish tacos and I went with the fish and chips. The fish on both dishes was so fresh and cooked well and not over seasoned, portions were big. On our second visit we had the ahi poke bowl which was not only delicious but loved the look of this dish. Very fresh and bright. I appreciated the variety of vegetables and that the dressing was light. We did share a dozen of east coast oysters which were well priced and a great starter. Overall, I love this counter service restaurant for the great variety and pricing. We will be making this a regular stop on our visits to the area.

We went in for a quick bite during Happy Hour and had the most amazing food! The Poke with chips was so good. We're going to be craving that now. We had shrimp and fish tacos also and the best mocktail! Can't wait to go back to try more delicious food. This is going to be a regular place for us, for sure.

Overpriced basic seafood. People, this is not "fresh off the boat" fish from their family boat! They only fish for one or two of the fishes. ALL of the other seafood comes from whatever bulk supplier they buy from, the same as any restaurant or grocery store!! The tuna is obviously not from their family boat! Tuna are gigantic fish that cannot be captured by small fishing boats. This is a pure façade designed to get you to overpay double for their food. Do they have some good recipes? Sure, they make creative salads with raw seafood. Is a lobster roll worth $50? Are you kidding? Angies has the same lobster rolls for literally $10. Their "fish" taco costs $15 for a SINGLE TACO... with unspecified "fish". That is absurd! I am very sure this restaurant will struggle to survive the oncoming recession. People are running out or credit and won't be able to purchase fish from a scam restaurant. This is a scam. They trick you into believing that you're buying Fresh Off The Family Boat seafood, but it's just regular industrially harvested fish!!

Love Chula. Excellent fresh seafood and always friendly service. I like the unpretentious, down to earth atmosphere. Also, great bar and patio!

I just returned from a week in San Diego and the seafood served at Chula clearly stands up to coast line food!

Great food, and great service. Some of the best fried Cod & Shrimp I've ever had. Fries & Coleslaw are delicious too.

No photo as we devoured the new addition to the happy hour menu so quickly. Miso bourbon glazed salmon - it had a hint of sweet and the salmon was oh so juicy. Our family has learned that we should always say yes to new items on Chula's menu Love the crew working there as always

Fresh, excellent fish. Mussels have a light taste. Fries have a creme sauce. Restaurant is clean and airy. Service is good. First time here. Usually go to So Scottsdale location. Glad I got to try this one. Has happy hour with reduced prices

Stopped in first time hearing they have fresh seafood. Looking for ahi tuna for dinner. $35 per pound? Maybe I'm out of touch with fish pricing. Dinner just became a ribeye. But wanted to try their food so picked up Hawaiian tuna poke to go. $23 for regular size. Scoop of rice, plenty of edamame, radishes, carrots, pineapples and onions not scallions. Oh yeh maybe 4oz of tuna. Go to Hawaii every year. Tuna poke is lots of tuna, scallions, and a soy sauce. What I received from Chula was not what I expected. Even Costco does a tuna poke better. Now I wonder if getting fish from the local grocery store is a better option. Disappointed.

Fabulous service. Greeted when we came in during lunch. The counter person was very attentive in that she explained a lot of the menu. My kids knew what they wanted right away. One got softshell crab on a bun and the other one got lobster roll. I had a tuna bowl. Fish was delicious and very fresh. Colors on the plate were vibrant. Vegetables were fresh and crunchy. Concern: My kids were visiting so I took them for lunch as they really wanted to try this place. Because of the fact that the bill was around $93, I won't be going back there for lunch. Just. Can't. Do. It.

What a beautiful location. I had visited the one off Hayden. Little hole in the wall. This one is very nice, spacious with lots of seating inside and out. Still order at counter first then be seated. Very casual and relaxed. Has a full bar and great wine and beer. The food was amazing. I got the Mediterranean bowl. One with shrimp and another with fish. It was soooo delicious. So flavorful, fresh and healthy. I will be coming here once a week for lunch. You definitely have to come and try. Their seafood is caught fresh, sustainably sourced.

The first thing that stands out here is the service. Staff is really on it!! There is a fun and relaxed ambience, lacking some of the pretensions of nearby areas. And of course the food is excellent. Very very fresh fish whether you get a poke situation as I did, or if you get something cooked. It's worth your time, so come on down!

Fish is fresh, restaurant is very clean and sushi is as good as any sushi bar. I will go back and recommend you try this place. Only complaint is they are a bit pricy.

I have been wanting to eat at Chula for a few years now but I didn't have a location close to me. You can imagine how excited I was when this location opened and let me tell you, it was worth the wait!! This is our favorite restaurant and we have probably been here close to 10 times since it opened. I'm bummed I recently just learned they have a loyalty program that we need to start taking advantage of. Our favorite thing to order is the California burrito with shrimp. It's the best burrito we have ever had. The tortilla is toasted and the ingredients are fresh and there is a really yummy sauce in there. The fish tacos are also really good and we have alo tried the poke bowl. Their cocktails are unique and refreshing and really compliment the fresh seafood. We are always looking forward to our next meal here!

On several occasions, we have picked up seafood to bring home, i.e. Valentine's Day and other family events. The food has always been fresh, well prepared, and impeccably packaged. Today was no exception. Thank you, Chula for bringing Great seafood to our neighborhood. Dr. B.

I was excited to try out the Chula Seafood Grayhawk location. This location has a really great Sunday Happy Hour menu that I highly recommend. The crab po boy was delicious and the chips were the perfect side. Staff here is really warm and welcoming as well! Definitely coming back to try more things on the menu soon.

Stopped in a Chula on Thursday for lunch. Ordered a cold lobster roll. It was awful. The sandwich was on stale garlic bread bathed in Mayonaise. It was pricey, and wasn't worth it at half the price.

I've been making the trek to south Scottsdale for nearly a decade for Chula's epic seafood, so when they opened a location a block from my house I was nearly beside myself! After giddily watching the "coming soon" signs go up and the construction progress, tonight was the night! No cooking or dishwashing for this mama! This is not a fancy place; you wait in line and place your order, then your food will be delivered to you once it's freshly prepared. They offer indoor seating and have a nice patio with tables.... The only downside is that it's right on Hayden Road, so not much for ambience. The good news is that there is a small bar inside where you can enjoy a craft cocktail, a glass of wine or enjoy a nice beer and be served! I chose the bar and ordered a small Hawaiian Ahi Poke Bowl with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. The small bowl was very generous.... About 3oz of melt in your mouth fresh ahi in a bowl with steamed rice, edamame, watermelon radish, rainbow carrots, thinly shaved onion, pineapple, and a dusting of crushed macadamias on top! The traditional sauce was great.... Flavorful enough that nothing extra was needed (even though I had soy and Tapatio on the ready). I added avo because I'm extra like that and honestly couldn't finish the whole bowl! My server mentioned the large size bowl contains 6oz of the fish... which seems like a solid value for the price if you have a bigger appetite. My only complaint? It was absolutely arctic at the bar - but I'll bring a hoodie next time! And there will DEFINITELY be a next time!

Chula Seafood is well known in metro Phoenix for offering sustainable quality fresh seafood. Their signature fish is the swordfish that they hand harpoon. This is a fish market, bar, and restaurant. They have three locations in Arizona and Greyhawk is in North Scottsdale. This location is the biggest in size for seating and also does have a very large patio. This is a casual place. You order at the counter and they give you a number and they run your order to you. It looks like you get waited on if you sit at the bar. Maybe they've been really busy because they looked very sold out of fish on my visit? Had lunch and shared the tuna confit sandwich and the hatch Chile tuna melt. We both liked the tuna confit sand sandwich much more than the tuna melt. It just tasted much better.

Service. Complete and utter disappointment. Instead of being a guest I'm feeling likable an imposition to the day. Hey big guy at the counter - smile, welcome, service, gratitude. I get it, busy Saturday. We came from Ahwatukee to help celebrate the anniversary. Ambiance.... Super casual, comfortable. Patio area is absolutely suitable even in summer. Food. This is why we come and come again!!! Chefs for the win!! Kitchen staff for the win!!! Outstanding oysters and clam chowder. Way to go team you salvaged what we thought was going to be a huge disappointment. Kitchen team, we will make the drive again because of you. By the way...ordered bowl of chowder. Received, cup of chowder. Telling that to the big guy - the ice cold no response and push of a 2nd bowl was truly unnecessary. But hey, you do you.

Me and my boyfriend decided to come try this place out and man was it worth it! We are from New England so it's been hard for us to find a seafood place that we both like but this one was a hit! Food was delicious and tastes very very fresh. The service was fabulous in itself, everyone seemed upbeat and super helpful! Will definitely be coming back soon!

I visited Chula Seafood Grayhawk on 5/30 and ordered the soft shell crab sandwich. The chipotle crema sauce was so hot I could not eat the sandwich after one small bite. I like spicy, but this was flame thrower spicy. I told the waiter that the black board menu for this sandwhich should have a disclamer stating that the crema is extremely spicy. The coleslaw was tasteless. Overall bad experience. Will never go back.

This place was amazing the first few times I visited. The quality of seafood was phenomenal especially the smoked salmon. Unfortunately I won't be going back, primarily due to the service. I was hoping to have a nice Mother's Day lunch at one my favorite's places, but when staff treat's your family starkly different than the other guests it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I would like to say it wasn't race related but unfortunately when it happens to you once you know what it feels like a second time. Perhaps it was a bad day, but hope others have a better experience.
