Chung Cheng Chilli Mee/崇正辣椒面

Ordered chilli mee large portion @$6.50 Nice and savoury. Chilli is very fragrance, not too spicy. Comes with 3 prawns, decent size, fresh and crunchy. 2-3pcs of ribs with soft bone which is very tender. Egg and taupok are nice side ingredients.

Had a bowl of chilli mee recently. Chilli sauce wasn't really savoury, nor was it particularly spicy. Pork ribs were tender enough. Baby shrimps were just as expected. The noodle portion is average size. Soup served on the side had a hint of shrimp flavour, with a strong medicinal taste, and seemed to be sweetened with sugar. So that's that.

Had these noodles since 37 years ago whilst in Secondary school. The stall is now 2nd generation. Always went for full pork rib mee pok dry option when I am visiting this market. Their home-made chilli is the secret sauce !

Located at Beach Road food center with open space HDB parking next to it. Chilli Mee prawn noodles has its own unique taste. Loaded with special chilli paste and fried shallots oil on top of the cooked yellow noodles. Topped with soft boiled egg, pork ribs and fresh prawns, and dusted with more chilli powder. This is a dish with a kick that will make you perspire. The prawn soup is on the sweet side. Overall, interesting dish to fill your spicy desire & prawn noodles cravings.

The $5 bowl comes with a lot of pork and prawn, look at the mountain in my bowl and you know it is very worth it! The noodles are cooked just nice, not that saucy so a tad dry, but flavour wise is on point. The chilli is generous but not super spicy, just nice for me (for reference Mcspicy is more spicy than this). The soup is also really flavourful. Overall a really hearty meal 😋 Normally closes at 6.30pm but we came at 7.30pm and it was still open.

The $4.50 (small) portion for Chilli noodles was really small - Quite little noodles with only 1 prawn (frozen prawn not fresh prawn) and 1 pork rib, a slice of egg, few fish cakes, bean sprouts and taupok. The soup was on the herbal side and does not have the seafood or prawn taste. It was quite disappointing as I thought it would be really nice since there’s always a long queue in front of the stall. Would say it is quite overrated.

Mar 2024. I was here to visit the army shops on a Sunday morning. Decided to eat at this again. I asked for it, chilli was already super spicy and i asked for more. Despite that, it was satisfying. Jun 2019. This was probably the most original noodle i ever had. I ordered a $4 Chilli Mee. It came with some egg slices, pork ribs and prawns. The chilli was heavenly hellish. I saw the serving lady scooped at least 3 servings of chilli sauce. Looked like ice kajang doused with lots of syrup and red bean.

A reliable back up go-to at Golden Mile Food Centre if your intended good eat isn't open. Vesak Day and quite a few favourites here are closed. I haven't had this for quite awhile. Great thing is they're open and a short queue of 5 persons depth should be a short wait. As I ponder what to order and tried to recall what's the best thing here on my last experience, yup the chilli. So it's a no-brainer, decide on your carbs and go for the unique Chilli Mee. A messy bowl of Chilli coats well cooked and tender ribs, two prawns, hard boiled egg slices, tau pow and fish cake slices complete the bowl. The only one here and nowhere else you can get this. It's like a old school dry prawn Mee crossed with Satay Beehoon just no bean sprouts, cockles, cuttlefish, liver and what not, and instead of a peanutty sauce, you have a savoury sweet chilli sauce that's generously ladled over the bowl. The chilli sauce do pack some delicious heat. The pork ribs are tender and lovely, the tau pok soaks up the chilli well, the prawns and fish cake slices just normal though. Soup is old school style broth and not too cloy, just refreshing enough to round up the meal. On and off I guess, they were Michelin recommended for 2017 and 2021. Try it.
