Yelp
This place is very sentimental to me because I have been coming here for at least 20 years. This is the first place I ever had Korean food. To be 100% honest, it's great for the local area, but it does fall short when compared to Flushing and Fort Lee(Ktown is boooooo). Another great aspect of this place is that it is open 24hrs. This place also happens to be very popular amongst the Thai community, since a lot of them look for late night nom nom. The decor does seem run down and dated, but the restaurant has been here a long time.
The food:
Pa Jun- Korean style pancake with squid, shrimp, scallion & pork. I like the Pa Jun here, the pancake is actually crispy throughout, I can't stand soggy Pa Jun. The ones here are served on a cast iron plate that holds the heat well. The ingredients inside the pancake are almost forgotten since the dough is kinda the main focus. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=LsVQUNb8Ny6tZwcLofAvKA&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA
Tofu Jiggae- bean curd pot stew with beef and clam. I think the soup is awesome, it's perfect for winter. It's a spicy and sour tofu stew that has beef, clam, zucchini and onions. This is a very hearty stew and it's actually pretty filling.
Kal Bi Gui- Prime boneless short rib cubes marinated in a tempting sauce. I think for the BBQ stuff, I think it's a min of 2 order of any two item. The Kal Bi Gui is good, but I wish the short rib was cut into bigger pieces, when I think of Kalbi, I think of substantial chunks of meat. The meat kind feels like well marinated cheese steak meat. lol http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=JR82gyx9Nt_BusAyrOcUNw&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA
Chap Chae- thin clear noodle, shredded beef and vegetables sauteed in specialty seaweed sauce. This dish is a nice carb to have at the table. The noodles are very slippery, but has a nice mouth feel. The dish has nice flavor and the beef and veg work nicely with the sauce that's in the noodle.
Sikhye- Dessert rice beverage. When the check comes, they always bring oranges to the table. I don't like to eat oranges after BBQ so I ask for Sikhye. It's a slightly sweet water beverage with little flecks of rice. It's so nice and refreshing. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/chung-ki-wa-restaurant-jackson-heights?select=cz4qh8AO0Ckax35aXRDgTw#cz4qh8AO0Ckax35aXRDgTw
