"Chungee’s Drink ‘N’ Eat, a popular Cantonese spot on Capitol Hill frequented by locals including star chef Monica Dimas, is set to close by the end of 2019 after nearly 10 years. Known for its fun vibe and generous portions of affordable Chinese comfort food, such as wonton soup and signature yum yum chicken, the restaurant has hosted a lion dance celebration every Lunar New Year near its entrance on 12th Ave. Despite plans for an outpost in West Seattle that never materialized, co-owners Tom Farrell and Wen Long hint at the possibility of opening another location in the future." - Gabe Guarente

I love Chungee's. Is it the best Chinese food ever, no, but it is amazing comfort food. The staff is great. The low ceiling creates a unique environment and it's rarely ever so packed you can't get a table. They have outdoor seating for summertime and their salads+beer make for a great light summer fare. Rotating beer selection, and they always seem to have my favorite seasonal selection.

Cozy place. Can't really say the food is good or bad, it really depends on what you order. I ordered two things, fried chicken and pan fried noodle. One was good and one not so much. The drink selections was good and bar tender was friendly. If you are looking for a quick bite and/or a place to have a quick drink and don't mind having conversation with the bar tender, this is the place for you.

One of my favorite places. A mix between a dive bar and classic Chinese restaurant. It's a small space but never feels crowded, even when it is crowded. Always a beer on tap that I like and the food is out of this world. I think out of their entire menu (and I think I've tried everything) was only one dish that I disliked, and I'll admit it was probably a matter of personal taste. Can't recommend this awesome little hole in the wall enough.

Chungee's is definitely the best neighborhood Chinese restaurant in Seattle. Their rotating selection of well chosen drinks pair well with made fresh to order, authentic Chinese dishes and Chinese American favorites. The flavors are clean and complex, the dishes are bountiful, the specials are exceptional and the service is always pleasant. Don't miss this little piece of heaven with a variety of indoor and outdoor seating options in a somewhat makeshift, yet homey setting.

I first tried Chungees's after a long day of moving into my new haunt 2 blocks away. Seeing that a restaurant called Chungee's was in my new territory, I had to try it. Chungee’s became my favorite Chinese restaurant while living there. The yum yum crispy chicken is insanely good, and I’d recommend trying any of the specials. The specials include anything from fresh chard from the owner’s mother’s garden or lotus root. So good! Besides the delicious food, the restaurant itself has a cool vibe and the owners are also super cool!

Great Chinese food, reasonably priced, usually not crowded.

Update: Went back again cause the food was good, but the service this time was just plain rude. Two people walk right by me when I walked in, so I took a seat at the window to look over the menu. When the first person walked by again she asked "are you leaving?" which was odd, but I said "No, I just arrived" and she walked off. The second person came to take my order, but when I asked for a recommendation: "What do you have that has lots of vegetables?". I was told to "look at the menu, man" and he then walked off. The reason I asked for help in the first place is because the menu is unreadable with its tiny font and the dark lighting. I assume the food is still as good as before, but I didn't stay to find out after being dismissed twice in only a few minutes. Before: Dine in, take out, pick up. Service is friendly but over worked so really slow (I do want to point out that the server was working as fast as possible and doing an amazing job of it). Food is good especially for the price. One of the better values on cap hill.

This place is great because of two things: 1) great Chinese food. The closest you are going to get to Chinese home cooking on Capital Hill. Over the years they have exceeded my expectations with every dish. 2) "Chungee" means "stupid pig" in Chinese, and it is a pejorative for "husband." This place is designed to be romantic, with the design of the place encouraging you to snuggle up with the people you are eating with. Probably the best place for Valentine's Day in WA.
