Finally tried this hidden gem in the back alley off Hamilton and Hastings. It's behind La Taquiera and reviewers were right, it can be easily missed. I felt a sense of normalcy even tho it was the first time I ate out after the vaccine passport came into effect and it was easy, show it along with your ID, and it's sense of ease. They had heating lamps as the temps cooled down quickly for mid-September but was still able to enjoy outdoor dining as we head into Fall. They provide you complimentary Chupito shots, Frozen margarita sampler, refreshing way to cleanse your palette. I started off with the Guanajuato cocktail which was absolutely delicious as it had me at mezcal w/ tequila, apricot liqueur, lime, ginger and tumeric. It's like summer encapsulated in a beautiful drink. We started of with their special shredded chicken tostada which tasted like chicken tinga, yum and was only $5! Then we ordered their tuna tartare which was so fresh of ahi tuna with the mix of ukoy salsa, cucumber and avocado. We also ordered the camaron y callo ahogados estilo sinalo which consists of pacific prawns, hakkaido scallops, salsa sinalo, cucumbers and avocado. So fresh and flavorful. The only dish I would not recommend was from the other seasonal pop up Paellaguys, the paella Valencia chicken which could have been served more hot and the portion was more a taster yet was only $13 so for the price, guess that's what you would expect but there was hardly any chicken or artichoke/veggies in it. All in all our meal was excellent and I paired it w/ Tantalus Chardonnay for the remainder of my meal as like I said trying to soak up what's left of the summer and dining outdoors while we still can before Raincouver arrives. Pics credit to my friend as I was enjoying my cocktail.
