Visited New Orleans for the weekend, and this coffee shop was 2 blocks from where we stayed. The ladies working were welcoming and friendly both days we stopped in. My vanilla latte with oat milk was great. It seemed like there was a hint of something like cinnamon or nutmeg. Hmmm idk but it was delish either way. Other friends ordered things like green tea or honey rose. Everything was good.

Google
The atmosphere was great. The cafe was pretty clean and comfortable. The coffee was pretty good, and quite a number of selection for pastries. There are also quite a variety of tea to choose from (if you’re a tea person). It was very comfortable to sit by the window where the sun shines in! Definitely worth a visit to sit here and work or chat!

Google
Good and nice coffee. (They use NYC beans). Food is great and healthy! Cozy and quiet atmosphere, interior full of art, like it. Friendly and pretty fast service.

Google
Great Place To Stop! Was on my way to Visit the Cemetery and decided to get off and try something new, super happy when I saw, tasted and devoured the Coffee. I got a vanilla latte and my mum got a regular latte. Delicious! The place was clean, super trendy, friendly staff and guests. They have a small reading room in the back and just a great VIBE! Loved it!! Oh ALSO!! I forgot my bag there and they were nice enough to hold it for me for a really really Long Time. Super Appreciated! Thank you guys!

Google
Got the strawberry toast and Madagascar almond spice iced tea. Very simple and light for simple breakfast. Staff is also very friendly and the atmosphere is really nice.

Google
A consistent oat cappuccino. Nice inside seating. Solid WiFi. The best priced breakfast menu compared to other coffee spots in the area. 5 outttttaaaa 5.

Google
Very peaceful with a nice atmosphere. Somewhat awkward as 2 what 2 do with my almost empty coffee cup. There was this 3 shelf wired moble unit near the front door. The dish bin was on the bottom shelf, full of dishes. The top to shelves carried a pitcher of water & clean glasses, I guess for patrons.

Google
Lovely little coffee shop with great coffee and breakfast- I ordered a cortado and an avocado bagel with a fried egg and i sat outside on canal to enjoy it.

Yelp
I searched out this place after one of my favorite Mid-City tea and coffee places shut down. In need of a little cold chocolate caffeine, I got the iced mocha latte with almond milk. Either the coffee is strong or the mocha inclusion (powder? syrup?) is weak but it was a solid mid-day pick-me-up. I also opted to grab the tomato, goat cheese, and arugula croissant. Fresh and peppery greens, tart and tangy goat cheese, and juicy tomato slices snuggled between two flaky halves of tender, slightly sweet croissant. (Maybe that was the house vinaigrette?) I'll go back and add ham and/or an egg for a brunch croissant sandwich.

Yelp
Local gem!! Options for all dietary restrictions, delicious coffee, friendly staff. Breakfast panini is to die for. ‍

Yelp
If you're on the look out for a pet-friendly coffee shop in Mid-City, this is a great option! We randomly discovered this spot last weekend and we loved it. The place is very aesthetic - for all the Instagrammers out there. They have food, coffee, juices, etc. I ordered the croissant with fried egg, ham, goat cheese and greens. This was so good! For a drink I had a Guava Passion Fruit canned drink. My friend ordered the breakfast panini - it was lacking in flavor. It could have used some other protein and a bigger slice of bread. Overall, the place was very nice, clean, had a/c (important for hot days!), friendly staff. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
I wish I could continue to love and support this place but the quality/ quantity vs cost has gotten ridiculous. This place exemplifies gentrification. How can you claim to be for the community and then charge $4!!! for a bagel with "butter and jam." And you're probably thinking "oh well homemade jam sounds nice... nope. Welches jam packets you get for free at any diner or restaurant. Also, my bagel was definitely old cause it was almost rock hard. I used to love the avocado toast, which has since gone up in price and waaaaay down in quality and size (sidenote: being advertised on baguette as well as the Turkey and avo sandwich that come on a tiny hard piece of multigrain bread). I tried something different today, hoping for a better outcome and to change my opinion back, but I was served a bland "Turkey, goat cheese, and greens fried egg sandwich on bagel" for almost $14!!! It was mushy from the grease off the Turkey, super thin, undercooked bagel, flavorless, and THATS my goat cheese spread...literally the only ingredient that might make it worth even $10 let alone almost 14! And to claim you're part of the community while charging insane prices; it's no surprise I only ever see one type of person shopping/eating here. If you're gonna charge such dumb prices, at least try to serve something of quality & worth my money. I used to tell people this was the best coffee shop in New Orleans when I first moved to the neighborhood and discovered it. Sad I now have to avoid and drive 15 minutes to anywhere else.

Yelp
We ran in for a few minutes yo grab gluten- free vegan cookies & the place is adorable. Service is quick. Wait staff / cashier cheerful. Croissants looked huge & fluffy & fresh but we didn't have time to sit & relax. Charming atmosphere. Customers looked happy. I plan to go back!

Yelp
They must have been having a bad morning but now I am too!! No breakfast that was ordered. Was given someone's hot chocolate croissant then given two cold hard croissants and some bitter coffee for thirty dollars. Very poor first experience.

Yelp
Update: They did such a nice job fixing up the entrance. This place is great 123456789

Yelp
I just moved to MidCity and was delighted to see this coffee bar within walking distance to me. The walk there was gorgeous and scenic, seeing street cars drive by, and admiring all the architecture. The coffee bar itself is a hidden gem! Right underneath what looks like a duplex/apartment, you're greeted with a cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and overall a great spot for coffee or breakfast. The cashier was super nice and helped me decide on what to get to eat, their recommendation of a breakfast sandwich with avocado and fried egg was AMAZING! I highly recommend.

Yelp
I only order lattes here so that's the only drink I can vouch for, but they are delicious AND there is a dope variety of syrups- vanilla and caramel obvi but also lavender and honey rose and orange blossom WHAAAAAT! The food is portioned on the smaller side but there's some pretty creative stuff on the menu (the very popular breakfast panini with goat chz and black beans! strawberry tahini toast- also with goat chz! does someone on staff have a goat?) and even the basic veggie bagel has a scrumdidliumptious vinaigrette. Indoor & outdoor seating options. Dog friendly.
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
To start: the coffee is real real good. So good I bought a bag to fly back to Michigan. Straight up delicious as is but if you like a more interesting caffeine fix, don't sleep on the house made syrups! Everything else: is great. Friendly and knowledgeable baristas, community and mission oriented, a delightful assortment of fun snack and take-home options. If I lived around here, this would be my go-to spot.

Yelp
In a neighborhood full of top notch coffee shops this one stands out as the best. Service stands heads and shoulders above others in the neighborhood and the coffee, espresso drinks and snacks are always fantastic. With at least three other very good coffee shops within walking distance Church Alley remains my family's consistent favorite.

Dannie W.

Yelp
I visit here often , never again. At over $8 bucks I never expected to get the butt of a bread for my Avo toast. Also was the thickness of my fingernail. Which made it extremely hard and inedible. Pics for references. Disappointed .

Yelp
Used to love this place. Great tea and coffee - used to get latte breves. Veggie bagel is a must! But my most recent visit they told me the do not carry half n half or heavy cream- ever now. Just an fyi! Odd for a coffee shop especially since they have whole Milk (and half n half keeps longer, prob more popular too)...? So it's not because they're going vegan.. this sucks because it won't be my morning treat anymore :( prices are steeper than the bean, too.

Amy N.

Yelp
I just stopped into Church Alley for the first time. I walked passed as I was leaving my eye doctor's office around lunchtime and thought I'd check it out. I will definitely be back! I got the tomato and goat cheese croissant (I added avocado) to go and did a little shopping while I waited for my order. They don't have a ton of merchandise but what they do have is all so cute and interesting and locally made. I bought several holiday gifts that I didn't really need but they were too good to pass up. I just got back to my office to try the sandwich and it is stellar! The flavors and textures are amazing! I've got a new favorite lunch place!
google avatar

Yelp
Wow, trying to support small local business but was greeted at the door and told closed then slammed door. Granted I was arriving right at closing time but downright rude and I'll never come here again. Ironic that their sign says "good vibes"
google avatar

Camly T.

Yelp
This is a lovely coffee shop. There are tons of windows (read natural light), plants, and seating. They have a cool side room that is comfy and could be a cute sun room in your own house. They have good tea, food, and chocolate chip cookies (a personal favorite). They serve drinks in mugs and glasses which I always favor (save the Earth), and it is just more comfy. They seem to be socially conscious and environmentally friendly. They even compost their paper towels - neat! The only issue is sometimes it's hard to find (street) parking, but isn't a big deal.
google avatar

Leslie S.

Yelp
Popped in to grab lunch after going to the eye doctor next door. They are 100% to go only and have an area in the front selling local goods in what used to be the seating area. I ordered a latte with oat milk and a breakfast panini for me and a turkey and avocado sandwich for my SO. Two people had ordered before me so I killed my wait time looking at the local goods. When my food and latte were ready the bag felt really light so I checked and they had completely forgotten to make the food for my SO. I had to wait a few minutes but it was worth it. The breakfast panini is really good. It has black bean hummus, goat cheese, baked egg, onion, and avocado on an onion naan bread that is pressed. My SO's turkey and avocado on Bellegarde country bread had turkey, avocado, and cheddar cheese and came with a side salad. I had a bite of the sandwich and it was pretty good. Will definitely go back again but will double check that I have my full order before leaving.

Yelp
What a nice neighborhood coffee shop! I had a cappuccino and a breakfast panini. Coffee was good and the breakfast panini was delicious (better than expected). Inside the shop is not huge, it has four comfortable table areas for working / sitting down. There are benches outside for sitting as well. It does get busy mid-morning on the weekends. Staff is really friendly and helpful... it is also dog friendly!

Yelp
My wife and I walk past this place every morning and I never really gave it much attention. Finally one day we decided to stop and see what they had to offer. As is the norm in the COVID-19 era, the only options are takeout and delivery. Ordering is done at the door and no patrons are allowed inside. They have the menu posted out front with prices and descriptions. We went with some savory breakfast options that were good. Of course, some items don't travel as well as others so choose wisely if you won't be able to eat soon after receiving your order. My only real negative is that they don't open until 8AM which is when I, and I would imagine many others, need to be at work so it's difficult to go and support them during the week. All in all, the people were nice and the food was good. I will make it a point to go back and try some more items.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a nice place with a cute little covered porch. I had the fried egg sandwich on a croissant, which was very greasy and had a sweet taste I couldn't identify, but it was still really good. I wish the menu was closer to where you order because I'm not very good at memorizing things. The iced coffee was tasty, and I appreciate that they offer paper straws.
google avatar

Stephen D.

Yelp
I don't need any protracted witticisms or philosophical allusions to describe my experience at this place. The coffee tasted terrible, the muffin was dry, and the girl working the counter was rude AF. We'll never be back.
google avatar

John G.

Yelp
Always a fresh cup of coffee ready and great breakfast and lunch options. We always go for the breakfast panini.

Yelp
BLUF: awesome atmosphere. Small yet surprisingly big with swag and big food menu. Black coffee was great.

Yelp
Haven't updated since Renee moved to this new location. Newsflash: She's still killing it. While I did love the neighborhood vibes on The Boulevard, this spot is super cute and airy with ample plugs and a cute succulents to brighten your day. Her staff is still trained really well and are consistent and kind. I am currently dreaming about her Orange Blossom and Vanilla iced latte. Wowza, y'all. I wish they served XXL sizes of this fragrant deliciousness. If that's not the greatest thing ever, they had rose water macarons that were the perfect level of sticky and toasty and lightly sweet. I thank the Lord baby Jesus I took my drink and macaron to go or else I would've gotten a dozen of those tasty little treats and totally ruined my morning of aqua aerobics. Keep up the great work, Renee!

Valerie L.

Yelp
I am a returning customer for years! I absolutely LOVE the authenticity and the quality of the food, drinks, and all the products in general. Very good vibes and the owner, Renee, is simply the best! It really feels good each time I push the door. Indoor and outside space. Prices are really reasonable for the great quality delivered! I really invite you to stop by and enjoy!

Yelp
This is a cute place for students and locals to chill and drink their favorite warm beverages. The menu is filled with healthy options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. The space is small, but packed with unassuming personality. There is a hodgepodge of lightly used chic pieces and fun vintage pieces, none of them polished or demanding of your attention. Unfortunately, I just wasn't impressed with the food and hot chocolate. My hot chocolate just tasted like hot milk. The barista was really nice and put a little extra chocolate in when I asked, but it still just tasted like milk =(. The breakfast panini was very small too, and didn't taste as good as the description sounded. My suggestion would be to come here to study, hang out, and just purchase a small coffee. I do think it is nice that they offer a teacher's discount too.
google avatar

John V.

Yelp
This is close to me just a couple blocks down on canal and I do really enjoy it here. Comfortable setting, quiet enough for conversation so meetings and friend time is also a good option here. They make lots of baked goods as well and the few I've tried are good, I really like their drip coffee!! Occasionally you may also see "Percy" the pig walking either to or from blue dot up the street :) that's right the neighborhood pig.

Yelp
I spend a lot of time in coffee shops as a graduate student, and this one is one of my favorites. The atmosphere is so welcoming - lots of chairs and tables, lots of comfortable nooks, and the best part, all kinds of plants and genuinely encouraging motivational post-it notes. The staff are so warm and welcoming, and always do an amazing job on every drink and food item I order. I've tried their breakfast panini (deliciously filling with avocado and black bean hummus), house salad (their house vinaigrette is the stuff of my dreams), and my hands-down favorite, the veggie bagel (all sorts of veggies on a cream cheesed bagel, topped with that lifegiving vinaigrette). I love living around the corner from this place because it means I can spend a lot of time here and keep dollars in my community, which is very important to me. Thanks for being the best, Church Alley!
google avatar

Ileana O.

Yelp
I miss their original location in Central City though and think that their old location had a cooler overall feel. All that said, I am still digging Church Alley's new location in Mid-City. Mid-City does seem to have an over-saturation of coffee shops, but what's cool is that every coffee shop does have something that makes it's vibe different and unique. Church Alley has plenty of seating inside/quick wifi so you can definitely bring your laptop or school work and plop down for the day. Their pastries have always been delicious and that remains true at their new location. I like that they also have some Vegan and gluten free options available.
google avatar

Niky L.

Yelp
I asked for a large cappuccino. They told me they only served it "traditionally", i.e. only a size small. Great. They then gave me it in a juice glass. I was so weirded out by the glass I just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. Nothing like being pretentious AND not knowing what you're doing! Little atmosphere, no parking, and inside a condo building--not a church.
google avatar

AuraLee P.

Yelp
I miss the friendly cat that used to jump up on the couch and fall asleep next to me at the old location. That being, there's a lot to love about Church Alley's new location: it's inside the only truly art house theatre New Orleans has - Zeitgeist - and also shares a space with some lovely local small businesses (to your right and up the stairs when you walk in). The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and conducive to working or reading or just hanging out. There's usually a quiet dog or two wandering about in need of a head pet if you're so obliging. Church Alley is the kind of coffeeshop that prides itself on the care and thought that goes into every cup. The espresso is delicious and their flavored lattes are incredible. I think they might be the only coffeeshop in the city that does horchata lattes, which definitely keeps me coming back. Although this morning I stopped by for one and saw they had a smoked lavender option and it was all I could do to not climb over the counter to grab the jar and run screaming out of the place. It was just that good. They've expanded their menu to include simple and absolutely delicious sandwiches, baked goods, and all-day breakfast options. My favorite is the avocado/cucumber/goat cheese sandwich that I usually get on toasted rye. All in all, worth a stop. The neighborhood is on the up-and-up and they're a wonderful part of that.

Yelp
A Study in Patience As a former barista I was rather impressed with the homeyness of the local and quality of the equipment. The accolades stop there. It appears that a request of any modification outside of their standard menu will be met with confoundment and abhorrence. My coffee order rarely draws even a hint of ambivalence from the full spectrum of local coffee shops to national chains I have visited. However, the pretentiousness of this shop really caught me off guard and I've never met such road-blocks in obtaining what I paid for. "Two espresso shots over ice with caramel drizzle along the side of the cup" is by no means a tedious request. Unfortunately here I was told that they "discouraged" espresso shots to be poured over ice. That's great -- but I'm asking you for what I want not what you want to give me. Caramel drizzling around the sides of the cup was a completely foreign subject here. I gave her the instructions on how to properly pour caramel around a cup because the barista had no idea what drizzling caramel inside the cup meant. So much so that I was handed the cup and had to do it myself. I believe that the incapability of making this simple drink stemmed from the fact that she wanted to melt the caramel drizzle with hot water instead, which I clearly stated to her multiple times that I did not want the caramel melted down. In addition to not being able to make a simple drink possible, this barista had rude mannerisms. Instead of answering a 2 second yes or no question such as "Do you have hazelnut syrup?" she point at a menu and made me look for it myself. Whenever I am behind the counter I try to make every possible accommodation a reality in order to ensure that a customer is satisfied. That is not the mantra here. It's take it or leave it -- and don't come with any requests that aren't on the menu.

Lelia G.

Yelp
Far and away my favorite coffee shop. The tea, breakfast paninis , and croissants are excellent. The team is always friendly, and my spirits are always buoyed by the notes of encouragement and support around the shop. Oh! And recently bought some special coffee beans for a Mother's Day gift that were a big hit. It's clear the Church Alley team is invested in their community, from their eclectic collection of locally made products for sale to their bin for community donations, which seems to fill regularly. Love.

Amy L.

Yelp
The baked goods are amazing! It's very cozy inside, overall great vibes. I'll be coming back!

Yelp
Great hidden coffee shop in Mid City on Canal. I stumbled upon it looking for some cold brew coffee and all the other shops in the area were so packed that you couldn't find a parking spot. Church Alley could use some better signage but then again I wouldn't have a place to get coffee on the run would I. The interior is small so it cant handle large crowds of internet workers but the coffee is strong and the internet is fast and thats all you need in a coffee shop.
google avatar

Kimberly C.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop with an eclectic, casual vibe. Street parking nearby is plentiful and free. The shop dog is adorable and sweet - the pup nuzzles right up to welcome you. It's pricey compared to other coffee shops, without offering extra quality or other benefits. I bought a small regular latte and an instant cup of oatmeal and it was almost $9. They're moving to a location in Mid-City not far from Juan's Flying Burrito after the new year. Hopefully the new location gives them the additional foot traffic they are hoping for.

Yelp
It is strange to pay for a medium drip coffee and get it handed in a standard household mug of no size denomination. I could have asked for a small drip coffee and been handed the same size in-house mug. No half and half available. The horror! The barista had whole milk on hand and she informed me it was un-homogenized whole milk and is just like half and half. Right? No. I am sad to say that un-homogenized whole milk is still whole milk whichever way the cow is milked. You're just mixing the fat that floats to the top yourself rather than having a fancy mixing machine do it at a corporate level. Half and half is equal parts whole milk and light cream with a fat content of 10-12%. I see you barista, trying to pull the wool over my eyes, but you ain't fooling me! Coffee is full bodied and well roasted. Refills for drip coffee are a dollar. Decor is modern and inviting. Visually pleasing like you've walked yourself into a page of Domino Magazine. Plenty of chairs and natural light.

Yelp
I had passed this place for months, living only several blocks away. It looks super cute but my hours and theirs, have never jived. Then, on a day off, a friend and I were planning to meet for coffee so I suggested we go there. It's located at the bottom of a recently renovated apartment building. I believe there are only two units above. Very nice, cute finish out. It's quaint, cozy, has fresh baked goods, coffee and teas. Service was somewhat slow but also friendly and hospitable. I was meeting someone for a quick meet and coffee so I didn't have any of the food items. Next time :) I would recommend and would definitely return.

Yelp
As an SF native, I was on the hunt for a serious coffee shop. And I found it! The Horchata latte on ice with almond milk was so good I wanted to order two. The location is incredibly charming with a little DIY art theatre behind it. I love this place. PS the updated coffee bar has Splenda packets, almond milk, and reg milk in response to the "bougie" commenter ;)

Haley P.

Yelp
Pretty good. The espresso was great, but the cold brew was not my favorite. Breakfast panini and breakfast taco were pretty good too. Prices were nice. I would go again if I was in the neighborhood!
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
New coffee shop two blocks from where I live? Yes, please! Nice little spot with delicious coffee. It's in the "basement" of a newly renovated building and the atmosphere is really chill. If you can find parking on the street, definitely stop in! The avocado toast is really delicious! I've also enjoyed the cold brew and their robust roasts for a cafe au lait. It's a comfortable spot to grab a quick snack, breakfast, or spend the day using their wi-fi and working. They have plugs everywhere, so it's easy to find a spot to work. There's fun little mementos around the shop and nice artwork, so if you need to daydream a bit there's something to look at!
google avatar

Yelp
Church Alley is one of the best! In a somewhat hidden location, the shop boasts amazing coffee, pasties, and locally made goods! I wasn't super crazy about the Earl Grey syrup added to my latte but I can't wait to try more drinks.

Yelp
ANDROIDS ON THEIR ANDROIDS I was hopeful that OCH's Church Alley would be a reasonablly priced, ethnically diverse neighborhood eatery like say Freret Street Poboys or Frady's in the 9th. But alas, it's yet another bourgey coffee shop, the type that was trendy in wealthier more legit cities than ours 10 years ago. The patrons included a klatch of bullet-coiffed vulturish harridans (realtors bottom feeding?) and blasé tableting Gap-sters (prey for those Remaxx-i-trixes?). NO YELLOW, BLUE OR PINK PACKETS My $4 petite sized iced coffee was painfully bitter. Seriously I winced and needed milk. But there's no creamer or sweetner station, just a silly sideboard with raw sugar and honey - how adorable... 86'D MY BREW AND SASHAYED TO FRENCH TRUCK After a short walk and $0.50 cents more I feasted on their sublime "New Orleans Iced". Not only is it larger but it's sourced from their adjacent roasting facility and served with a creamy shaved ice blend. To me it's the best in town.

Yelp
Such a charming, unassuming spot to get a GREAT cup of coffee! And wonderful food too! A small, quick kitchen that serves up nice light lunches. Always happy to have a chance to swing by for a coldbrew and something yummy!

Yelp
Quiet and quaint coffee shop. Great place to go if you need to get work done. They also have a teacher discount which is a plus!

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in town. The ambiance is great! The food is always so fresh. Coffee is awesome! The staff is always so pleasant. I get some of my best work done here

Devorah L.

Yelp
Cute and comfy coffee shop. Coffee and teas are good. Breakfast panini wasn't the best but the other food looked better. I would give 4 stars except the service is REALLY slow. Kind of felt bad for the sole barista taking everyone's orders because she had to make all the food and drinks on her own. Not her fault, but they need to put another person in there so it will go quicker

Yelp
I love this little coffee shop. It's so cozy and has all the character. The amosphere is laid back and definitely, makes you comfortable to stick around and do some work and read. Ample table in this shop as well as plugs, so you should be able to snag a seat. Working fast wifi definitely is a plus. Great coffee selections! I love their caramel latte, so very tasty. They also do some great sandwiches! Their turkey sandwich is so fresh and flavorful. You can pretty much stay hydrated and full while in this coffeeshop. The parking situation is decent. It's all street parking, but no issues finding parking close by in this neighborhood.

Yelp
I got the yogurt and granola and fruit and the serving size was large and delicious. My boyfriend got the bagel with ham and goat cheese and enjoyed it very much. The service was great and the location was cute! I would recommend to anyone who wants a quick and affordable breakfast or pastry.
