"Church Key is a few blocks away from Tony’s Pizza, and has one of the best beer lists in the whole neighborhood. The lounge upstairs has a long red velvet booth running the length of the room that seats a ton of people and works great if you have a large group. Listen to music while you try and fathom all the pizza options at Tony’s." - Will Kamensky

"There are some serious beer bars in SF, and Church Key in North Beach is one of our favorites. This place is pretty small - even though it has a second floor, coming here with more than three people would be a lot, but if you’ve got a super small group, it’s a good place to hang out. The beer here is well priced, even though there are some bottles that hover around the $20 range, most things cost about $7-$10 and you can get some cheap cans for $3. Aside from that, the upstairs feels like you’re hanging out in the green room of a punk rock club with short ceilings, one long red velvet bench to sit on, stacks of empty kegs, and music from bands like Sonic Youth and Smashing Pumpkins. It’s not the most lively place to spend a Saturday night, but for a lazy afternoon, it’s ideal." - Will Kamensky

Really cool dark craft beer place with a hipster vibe. They had a good selection of unique craft beer and bar tender was really knowledgeable and friendly.

I loved visiting this bar on my short trip in San Francisco because they had some great beers on tap and it seemed like a place that the locals loved to hang out. And Betsy the bartender was so lovely! She gave us some local tips and interesting conversation. Would definitely go again. :)

Lovely little dive with a great selection of beers, on tap and bottle/can. Favorite thing to do is check out the record store next door, grab a golden boy pizza, and take that pizza to church key to have some brews. Highly recommend

Cracking beer and great service. The nitro stout was well good!

This is where to go when trying to treat your friends or dates to good beer! The most non-pretentious specialty beer bar in all of the city! Always a great rotating selection of the finest crafts available. And some of the best jerky I've ever tasted!

Beer selection is great and the bartenders have always been very friendly and helpful with recommendations based on some of the more general taste preferences for beer. It's a big plus that this place never seems to be too crowded and we have never had trouble finding either a table or seat upstairs in the loft area. Great spot in the middle of the bar scene in North Beach and a nice change of pace from more crowded bars on the weekend in the area such as Grant & Green or Tope.

This is a casual spot to grab beer. They change their selection every week and always have a sour on tap. The atmosphere was chill with a customer who has his dog with him. The prices are good too ! Only $8. Great spot to drink while waiting for a table at Tonys !

A cool and atmospheric find in North Beach. Great selection of beers and some top recommendations from the bar staff too.
