Churchill's Prime Rib House

Churchill's has a great reputation, and because of that, I went in with high hopes. Unfortunately, my recent dining experience was a letdown, especially considering the prices. I expected much better. From the start, things felt off. We were seated at a table where the electric candle hadn't been turned on, which was a minor detail but still a sign of a lack of attention. The most bizarre issue, however, was the flies. There were several green flies buzzing around the window right next to our table. We had to try and shoo them away ourselves, which was incredibly distracting and unappetizing. We brought it to the staff's attention, but they didn't seem to notice or care about the hygiene issue. The service was a major letdown, too. Our appetizers took an unreasonably long time to arrive. And it was the little things that really added up: a fork that fell on the floor wasn't replaced right away, and the serviette I was given was visibly dirty. We did not want to ask for salt and pepper, which for a restaurant of this caliber, should have been on the table or at least offered. We didn't ask because the server seemed to be annoyed that we told her about flies amd about providing plates to use to share appetizers Overall, the combination of poor service, cleanliness issues with the flies and dirty serviette, and a general lack of attention to detail made for a very disappointing meal. It's not an experience I'll soon forget, and definitely not one I'd recommend.

We came on a Sunday. Really good service. Great atmosphere. Food amazing. Escargot, Hearts of Romaine, Lamb, Oysters & Shrimp Cocktail.

Excellent food, but service was extremely slow. They must have been understaffed. We started with the PEI mussels with Thai curry sause. Delicious!!! For entrees, we had the Prime Rib and Braised Short Ribs. The Prime Rib was accompanied by mashed potatoes and a popover. The short ribs were accompanied by rice with cheese topping. Both entrees were excellent.

My husband and I were traveling back to Toronto and just wanted to grab some food. We didn’t read any reviews—just saw the pub and decided to walk in. OMG - This was the best decidion! I fell in love with this place immediately. Such a calm and cozy atmosphere. The food was fantastic. My husband had the Wagyu Burger ($30), and I had the fish with baby potatoes, carrots, and asparagus ($40). A true symphony of taste and flavor! We don’t drink, so we just had water and orange juice, which were perfectly fine. But I noticed they offer a wide variety of wines. The staff were kind and helpful. I highly recommend this place for a joyful and relaxing dinner with someone you love!

Excellent place for dinner. Attentive staff very friendly and delicious food. Especially loved the oysters 🦪 ,salmon and prime rib was made to perfection. Thank you for making us feel so welcome Jimmy. Highly recommended we look forward to coming back.

We went to Churchill's for our anniversary last night. The service was fantastic, but particularly our server Emelia, she went above and beyond to make our evening feel special. The food is always outstanding, everything I've tried on the menu makes me want to go back. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a meal for a special occasion.

Had a 6pm reservation yesterday and can't say enough about the Food and Customer Service. Absolutely amazing! Been driving through North Bay for about 5 years. Always had to much on the go to stop for dinner. Last night we made the time and was so happy that we did. Only issue was it took us 5 years lol. Honestly say, it was the best Prime Rib that I have ever had! Well worth every cent paid. Definitely won't be missing any opportunities when in North Bay to attend Churchill's. Thanks so much !

My husband and I ended up here after the first restaurant we went to straight up ignored us as we waited for a table. So glad we ended up here. The food was delicious, our server was so kind and knowledgeable, and we had a great time celebrating our first anniversary here. Our prime ribs were so so so tender and yummy. The only downside was that there was a wedding upstairs so there was a lot of thumping and pounding due to their dancing and the music.

Randomly walked into this place cause my hotel was next door and what a pleasant surprise. Definitely one of the nicer restaurants if not the nicest in the area albeit the options are really limited. Ambiance was nice and had an old school charm to it. I asked for suggestions cause everything sounded really good and the staff recommended the short rib. It was delicious. Super tender short rib on top of a Parmesan risotto and some greens. Flavor of the short ribs was great and everything complimented each other with great balance of flavors. Service was great and wish I had another another opportunity to try another dish!

The North Bay Canoe Club has our annual banquet every year. The meals have been fantastic and so tasty. Great portions and many choices. Thanks for hosting our group and sponsoring us too.

The most upscale restaurant in North Bay. The service is phenomenal! Great food and atmosphere is really cozy and inviting. Highly recommend their shortrib. Also, interesting and tasty were the 50 shades of bacon.

Ok so here's what worked and what was wrong at Churchill's. When we arrived at the restaurant things seemed good--nice venue, pretty interior layout. Wine list was extensive and very "state of the art" based on the computer device left at our table, and delivery of initial glass of wine was good. However within 15 minutes of our arrival things got a bit dicey. It started when we ordered their special Caesar salad which was delicious in a fun format with the tear drop cover covering the salad under smoke. But that salad took about 45 minutes from the time we ordered. From there it was another 1 hour for my partner's pickerel order and my chicken breast to get delivered to our table. An hour and a half had passed since we first sat down. Even worse when the dishes were delivered both the entrees were only slightly warm and the underlying vegetables were cold. I pointed this out to the waitress and she exclaimed "wow, they should have stayed hot under heat lamps"?!? Wow--so it's the heat lamps. Who would've guessed they were so critical, but then I remembered McDonalds. But, this wasn't supposed to be that experience.... So, I thought I would just point out the poor execution to the "Manager" who upon following me back to the table said "I can get you a replacement meal of prime rib in 30 seconds!". Hmmmm, something seems amiss here. Prime rib was one of their signature dishes at $40+ and they can pull it out of the sous vide and pop it into the microwave?? If I had to guess this restaurant suffers from service staff incompetency combined with poor management oversight. Be forewarned-this is a "hit and miss" experience restaurant. The worst kind of place to visit if you're looking for quality and consistency--particularly at these prices.

Excellent meal, impressed! Will come back again. It's happened to find it, big superise, love it.

This is only my second time going to Churchill's and once again I'm very impressed with not only the food but the service! Our first visit I had the Caesar salad which caught me by surprise at first not gonna lie but it turned out out to be super good! And for my main I had the filet mignon which was by far the best steak I've ever had! (I'm not a steak guy). This time around we had a Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail to start which was super good! The in-house made sauce was to die for! I had never tried any sort of Wagyu before so I thought I would give it a go, I was so impressed with not only the flavour but the texture was very tender a juicy! Needless to say I would go again and try something different, highly recommended for a nice quiet dinner with the separated rooms and quiet atmosphere.

Always a good meal. Their innovative Cultura Caesar is a delight for all of the senses and it is unquestionably the fanciest restaurant in North Bay (rest assured the price will remind you of that). The staff were attentive and lovely and really the only complaint was that when I went to take a poop the automatic lights shut off halfway through and I had to finish wiping up in the dark. On my last visit, the owner Jimmy was rude to us upon arrival and seemed pretty tanked, but I won't hold that against him because last night's visit more than made up for that. Two people, a cocktail, a half litre of wine, a couple apps and a main came to just under $200 with tip. So it's not your everyday restaurant but truly a good time.

We stopped here on a whim while traveling and had the BEST gnocchi. The short ribs were amazing as well.

My friend took me here and insisted I try the Cultura Caesar. It was amazing, loved the hickory sticks on the Top. The owner Jimmy even stopped by our table to ensure we were enjoying the meal. Top notch

Our group enjoyed a superb late-dinner meal here tonight. I had one of the best burgers of my life. The vegan in our party enjoyed a delicious noodle dis.and others ordered chicken and a salad. Everyone remarked on how great their food was. We ate outside under a tent with picturesque lighting. Our server was amazing; she was knowledgeable, responsive, and personable. Prices are slightly higher for our market, but this is an example of getting what you pay for: twice as expensive as fast food with about five times the fllavour which is well worth it. Bread and spread was served while we waited. I highly recommend eating here for a wonderful dining experience.

We stopped by Churchill for dinner since it was recommended by the Hampton Inn and we were given a $10 off a dinner menu entrée offer. It was quite a drive from the hotel, but I enjoyed the ride since I got to see the downtown area. What is it with the snow in the parking lots? It seems to be common for businesses to not plow their parking lots even though it's full of snow. We had to re-park the car after pulling up to the entrance since it was flooded from the melted snow. Where was the canoe to take us across? We somehow managed to get inside. There were 2 dining options - in the pub area or the formal dining area, and we opt for the pub. The place was very nicely decorated and inviting. The lighting was dimmed to create an intimate atmosphere, (but made it difficult to capture pictures without a flash). Our waitress was friendly and sweet. I ordered a house cab that was proposed by her but not on a menu. The wine was VERY good. And later, I come to find out, it was also VERY pricey. $15 for a large glass. $15 for house wine!! Don't they know what house means? I'm glad I didn't go with a name brand wine. Still...it was VERY good wine. For dinner, I went with their Wed. night wings special priced at $9. This is a recently added menu item. They had different flavoring and I went with honey garlic. In retrospect, I should have gone with something more savory since it was a bit on the sweet side. There were was 8 wings, but I couldn't finish them all. I was surprised it came with fries, fresh cut and delicious. When the bill came, it was $11 because she thought I wanted to add fries to it. I didn't know it shouldn't have come with fries and wouldn't have added it my order if I had known...but the waitress corrected the bill for me. My coworkers enjoyed their meals very much - 10oz prime rib $34 ($24 with the coupon) and shaved prime rib sandwich $15.

I haven't been here in years. I had forgotten what a wonderful experience it is. Wonderful menu, wonderful service and the best of fine dining in North Bay

We had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant for my nephews 19th bday celebration. During Covid, many establishments have had to come up with new ways to deliver quality. I must say, the experience here was quite nice. The food was very good as was the service. The only reason I've had to give them 4 stars vs 5 was because they had a bit of a challenge with my father's meal. Other than that, I'd have to say, I'd definitely go back.

This place is truly a great place to eat. I try to go here a couple times a year for special occasions. Jimmy is amazing, his staff is friendly, and helpful. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is pleasant. The young man at the piano is talented, entertaining. I love it. If you're in North Bay looking for a fine dining experience. This is the place.

Churchill's is now one of my top restaurants of all time. We had 8 for dinner that started with an outstanding selection of tapas. The smoked bacon, oysters,and roasted broccoli and brussels sprouts Caesar salad were our favorites. The presentations were amazing. For entrées we had everything from steak, chicken, seafood, and a specially prepared vegan meal. We can't say enough about the flavors and variety. Each was delicious, visually appealing, and filling. The selection of wines rounded out our meal. Chef Bryce did a wonderful job. The service was spectacular and the atmosphere comfortable and upscale. We highly recommend.

Complimented by the decor and live piano ambiance, the expertly cooked meal was probably the finest I've ever had. I started with the goat cheese salad, which was separated into 3 neat piles, dotted with dressing. It was a little more convoluted than what i was expecting, but delicious. My main course was the Muscovy duck with ravioli. The sauce was sublime, the ravioli introduced me to a new high, and the duck was incredibly savoury. The wine picked was Beringer Founder's. I finished the meal with the (recommended) Fried Ricotta Fritters, which were really rich and popular around the table and I got a glass of Taylor Fladgate to send it off. It was (off the top of my head) the most expensive meal I've ever had, but between the ambiance, the company and the absolutely delicious food, it will be a meal I will remember.

The only positive I took away from my dining experience at Churchill's was the server and the fact I was with family. The menu is limited...prices are inflated in relation to quality and presentation of meals. I felt let down and gouged, to be frank.Party of 6, and I cannot say any of us were pleased. It was my BD dinner, so no way was I going to complain and spoil it further. Short ribs, were not ribs , but chunks of over cooked beef..(2 orders were not consumed, taken home to feed the dog) Fresh pickerel...'fishy"tasting, meaning not fresh at all...greasy pan fried , not fresh...maybe not frozen they mean. Prime Rib...more fat than beef...and the Yorkshire pudding? Please..it should be served with a hack saw. My husband could not even cut through it...and a knife should not even be required if it is prepared properly. It was inedible. I ordered chicken... I'm still not convinced it was a chicken breast because I have never had a bone in my chicken breast like the one in my dinner....it was like a leg bone? Sorry to say, we chose Churchill's as our BD dinner destination. By far, this is the worst restaurant we have EVER dined at. We also were not privy to the three course dinner special, that we heard a different server explain to the table adjacent to us. All in all...worst dining experience ever. Terrible from start to finish. Sad to have wasted our evening there for my Birthday. Worse yet, because my "kids" treated all of us ...and it was a catastrophe at best.

We frequent this restaurant for the girlfriend's family celebrations. I must say that the food is pretty good, drink are never mixed right nor are they always cold, but the piano lady is amazing, the bill is always astronomical, and the atmosphere top-notch.

Steak over cooked and gave me mashed instead of baked potatoes. No check in to see how food was during meal. For an overcooked steak it was still pretty tasty but I expect a steakhouse to know how to cook it proper! Bread was amazing

Delicious food and terrible server attitudes! My boyfriend is working on a film in North Bay and we decided to go here hoping for a lovely dinner. Unfortunately the dinner was fantastic, but our servers terrible attitude tainted the whole experience. After twenty minutes of waiting to order, I went up to the bar and ordered our food. Mind you, this is on a Wednesday night. They were not busy. There were 4 men at the bar and we were the only ones seated in the pub area. Once our meal was finished and it was clear that we were not going to order dessert or another drink, the server turned off the tv as if to imply that we were finished. Save your money and go to the Crown and Beaver just down the street. The food is just as delicious, and the people are lovely.

the only "fine dining" place in north bay that people are familiar with. if you aren't well versed in good, gourmet cuisine, then you may find Churchill's fine... maybe even delicious. But from my experience with such restaurants, I feel that it's overpriced for what it is. Secondly, the staff has an air of superiority to them that comes off as ridiculous and humorous if you have something to compare it to (for instance in my case, some of the better fine dining restaurants down south, in the states and europe). the reason for my two star rating? the ambiance is decent and I am impressed that this place has been able to flourish in North Bay. Otherwise, the main issue I have is that the staff needs to tone it down for the pompous attitude can ruin an evening before it even starts.

Not impressed, over priced, food is below average, staff likes to pretend they are upscale, it is awesome if you have never experienced a good restaurant and don't know any better.

This is one of my all-time favorites. I enjoy the prime rib, and the panfried gnocchi, and one time for lunch they had a course ground filet mignon burger with a rondolette of Brie, on a toasted fresh baked kaiser, with Yukon fries. It was soooooo good that my mouth still waters thinking about it 7 years later. I have never had the chance to have that dish since to my chagrin.

We went here for dinner at 6pm, and were seated promptly at a table over looking the outside. Gorgeous view! We ordered apps - Beef Carpacio and Sauteed scallops. The scallops were mildly undercooked, I wasn't overly impressed but my date's Beef Carpacio was outstanding. We shared them. Next the entrées, the beef tenderloin was to DIE for as was the roasted rack of Ontario lamb. Done beautifully! We wanted to give the chef raving reviews, he came into the dining room and did rounds visiting tables and talking with guests about their meals. He then, skipped over our table completely to fawn over a neighbouring table which was a shame. My date is also an executive chef (at a private restaurant from out of town) and was looking forward to complimenting him. Needless to say, it was a disappointment, as was the service. Additionally the bottle of wine we selected was not available, so we settled on something that wasn't even close to what we were looking for. But, despite that the food was wonderful. We quite enjoyed our time there. The crème brulee was also a nice cap to the evening. :)

Impeccable service, exquisite food (the Gnocchi is unbelievable), and an atmosphere that lets you know you're their most special customer and the focus of their efforts that evening - and every evening you visit. Prices are commensurate with the quality of the food and experience, so don't expect a "2 Can Dine for $9.99" deal here. Essentially, if you want the finest full-service upscale dining experience in North Bay, Churchill's is the place.

I love this restaurant. I travel for work and dining here is one of the hi lights of travelling to north bay. You just can't have a bad meal here. Great service, fabulous menu and a very good wine list. I consider it one of the best in Ontario. It is fine dining so if your expectations are a $7.50 glass of wine this is not the place for you....

I've attended this restaurant for work events a couple times a year for the last few years and they never fail to disappoint. From awful sandwiches to seafood lasagna that included shellfish without notice.

Best in town. Classy, great atmosphere, excellent cuisine

Being from Portland, OR we have ALOT of excellent restaurant choices, and this place still stands out on top. I came here on business and this was suggested by our client we were traveling with. I have never had such an amazing steak, service, or out-of-the-way hospitality as I did here. Jimmy, the owner was an amazing host, suggested the perfect appetizer and entree, and even comp'd the house signature brandy at the end of the meal. The ambiance is very immaculate yet subtle and the staff was excellent. I usually don't give glowing reviews but this place is truly a gem. I highly recommend a visit here whenever you are in North Bay!!!!
