Churchill's has a great reputation, and because of that, I went in with high hopes. Unfortunately, my recent dining experience was a letdown, especially considering the prices. I expected much better.
From the start, things felt off. We were seated at a table where the electric candle hadn't been turned on, which was a minor detail but still a sign of a lack of attention. The most bizarre issue, however, was the flies. There were several green flies buzzing around the window right next to our table. We had to try and shoo them away ourselves, which was incredibly distracting and unappetizing. We brought it to the staff's attention, but they didn't seem to notice or care about the hygiene issue.
The service was a major letdown, too. Our appetizers took an unreasonably long time to arrive. And it was the little things that really added up: a fork that fell on the floor wasn't replaced right away, and the serviette I was given was visibly dirty. We did not want to ask for salt and pepper, which for a restaurant of this caliber, should have been on the table or at least offered. We didn't ask because the server seemed to be annoyed that we told her about flies amd about providing plates to use to share appetizers
Overall, the combination of poor service, cleanliness issues with the flies and dirty serviette, and a general lack of attention to detail made for a very disappointing meal. It's not an experience I'll soon forget, and definitely not one I'd recommend.
