12 Best Rooftop Bars to Visit in Savannah, Georgia | Eater Carolinas

"What Churchill’s rooftop lacks in panoramic views, it makes up for in pub food and affordability. This terrace sits just above street level and serves hearty meat pies and burgers alongside pints of Guinness and seasonal cocktails. Sunday happy hour, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., can escalate quickly." - Kiki Dy

Google
Churchill's did not disappoint. The Churchills appetizer is wonderful, but almost enough for 2 people. I had the Ale pie with a puff pastry, which was fresh and good. We shared a bread pudding for desert along with a glass of Tawney Port. The waitress Emma was super nice, knowledable and quick. We can recommend this place for it's atmosphere, food and service.

Google
Awesome meal with awesome service!! Kate was amazing!! She helped us decide on entrees with great appetizer suggestions. I cant visit without having the fried green tomatoes which are the best in town!! Also had the wings and they were so good?? We had the chicken pot pie and English dip which were amazing! We finished with the lava cake!! Amazing meal from start to finish!!

Google
The place was pretty deserted when we popped in to grab some lunch and escape the rain! Eden gave amazing recommendations and so we tried the poutine appetizer and split an order of the cottage pie with a side of truffle brussel sprouts! It was the perfect mix of flavor and cozy/comfort food. Not sure when we will return to Savannah next, but 10/10 we will be going to Churchill’s again asap!

Hello !! I had the pleasure of being served by one of the best Georgie!!! From the moment we were seated, Georgie made sure she was very attentive, and incredibly professional. She offered great recommendations, and made sure every part of our dining experience was perfect… We are from the panhandle of Florida, this was my husband and I second trip to Savannah.. I mean I enjoyed it next time Im going for meatloaf ! We love you Georgie and good luck !!

Google
What a great find! We stopped for quick overnight stop and found this via Google. Our server Ethan was amazing. His reccomendations for dinner were spot on and we enjoyed everything! (He also have us some must-see spots while we were down here! 10/10 for food and service!

Google
Margo and her team were exceptional! I was an out of town bride getting married in Savannah and she made it so easy for me to plan a couple states away. The food was amazing! They had everything ready and out and made sure the evening ran so smoothly. Not to mention the space itself is beautiful. We had our reception here at the 10 Downing located on the top floor. It was perfection start to finish!

Google
Went here for the Panthers watch party. My first experience here and it was a blast! The service was amazing, the food was AMAZING! One of the best experiences I've had in Savannah so far! Ate 2 orders of poutine because it was just THAT GOOD!!!! Will absolutely be back to try more on the menu!

This is a place that you will have a memory meal. What do I mean by memory meal? When you think back in your life and you think wow that was the best meal I ever had or that was one of the best meals I ever had this is one of those meals! We had a starter of the poutine and the onion rings. The poutine was outstanding! It was rich and savory and the meat in it was fall off the bone tender! The onions had a lovely little barbecue sauce and aioli that you could dip it in it was very very good. We shared a prime rib and we asked for it to be as close to medium rare as possible and they met that. It was covered in a gravy that is awesome and a great accompaniment. The potatoes and beans were fantastic I'm telling you you don't want to miss this meal! We sat on the rooftop and the bartender took her orders she made us great drinks and had the food delivered to us. She was very friendly her name was KC!

Yelp
Stopped in right before a band storm and although we intended to just grab a drink on their rooftop bar we ended up sitting and eating lunch. Place was kind of empty but it was sort of off hours before the actual lunch crowd would be stopping in. Large indoor area and the staff was more than friendly. Good menu has a lot of English themed options like Sheppard pie and a decently large beer menu. Also had a large bar seating area and a rooftop bar. The only negative about the rooftop bar area is the lack of any real view. Just basically another building. However the area is nice and a good place to sit with a group before eating.

Yelp
The food and service were amazing. Stopped in for brunch with a party of five and the wait was an hour long. We were bummed but quickly found 2 seats at the bar which evolved to five within a few minutes. Mimosa flights and fried green tomatoes made us very happy. Our table really did take an hour, and by the time we were seated the restaurant had mostly cleared out. We ordered way too much food and loved most of it. We left with our bellies so full that it was hard to make it to dinner later in the evening. Also the blueberry mimosa is yummy.

Yelp
We dropped in here for a drink prior to our dinner reservations at another restaurant. They have a cool Irish style pub with an upstairs patio area. This place sits atop river street and is not on the river. I was referred here by a coworker who mentioned they had good dirty martinis. I will say, the dirty martini was nothing special at all. The bartender didn't seem so enthusiastic about my request either, so I don't think any love was put into making it. Since we didn't order food. I didn't want to rate them a 2. The ambiance is nice here but that particular bartender could use a service adjustment.

Yelp
We had a very disappointing dinner at Churchill's. My party had reservations for 8 pm on a Saturday, and we were seated promptly. However, almost 20 minutes passed, and no one had come to greet us or take our drink order. When I inquired about our waiter, I found out that the person standing near our table was our waiter, who was trying to sort out the check for his previous table. I understand, but he could have at least acknowledged us, offered a drink, and told us he would be with us shortly. Finally, another waitress named Emily took our order. The food was average, the price point was not commensurate with the food quality or ambiance, and, to make matters worse, two bathrooms were out of order.

Yelp
While visiting Savannah, we wanted to try something we could not get at home. Churchill's was really good. We tied the pimento cheese croquettes. They were very stout to me. The Steak and Ale and the Bangers and Mash were both strong choices. The fish and chips was everyone's favorite. The appetizer was pretty good, and the dinner was great.

Yelp
I've eaten here a couple of nights this week. Neither night was disappointing in any way. Service at the bar was reasonably quick, and very accommodating. I went out of my normal English food selection and went with the honey glazed salmon. Perfectly cooked with amazing sweet potato mash and asparagus and .... Well, it was really great. Second meal was at a table and service was also excellent. Fish and chips were perfectly cooked. Peas were not very tasty but okay. Really good piece of haddock. I did get the trifle and this was the only disappointment. A dry sponge sandwiched with cream and strawberries served with a strawberry coolie and blueberries was a little dry for me. It begged for a layer of jello/(jelly in UK) to break down the dryness. English trifle is a nice sloppy mix of sponge and custard and sponge and fruit and..... this wasn't. Otherwise a nice experience. I do wish more English pubs here served more English beer. I can't find Speckled Hen anywhere but this would be a great place to find some .... If only.

Yelp
Very slow service, Scotch eggs had barbecue sauce??? Terrible!! Obviously don't know how to serve a scotch egg. No flavor at all! And did I mention terrible service. Atmosphere is like a fast food restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
Churchill's in Savannah has a great happy hour with $2 off drafts, making it a go-to spot for drinks. The $5 bar pimento bites were a bit disappointing as it was a small portion. Despite this, the real gem is the breathtaking rooftop with amazing views. Churchill's is a must-visit for its ambiance and drink specials."

Yelp
Visiting Savannah- Churchills was located across the street from the Hyatt Regency (on the River) - stopped in for a lunch started with a few drinks Yuengling Larger $4 Savannah Refresher $13 (Vodka, Muddled Berries, Prosecco, Simple Syrup & Lemon Juice) pretty tasty & refreshing ;-) - not very strong but did the job on a hot & humid day. Had a few starters - Scotch Egg ($8) Churchills Nibbler ($17) basically an assortment of appetizers (Sausage Roll, Black & Tan Onion Rings & Fried Green Tomatoes) Onion Rings were spot on delicious with a light horseradish aioli, nice crunch on the batter. The Fried Green Tomatoes were topped with a Pimento Cheese type spread) Both the Scotch Egg & Fried Green Tomato batter could have been cooked a bit longer - there wasn't much of a crunch and the batter more or less slipped off - bummer... We ended up ordering the Cottage Pie ($16) & shared it (comes with a salad - the protein was ground beef seasoned properly) Potatoes we're slightly browned which gave the dish a nice presentation. We Really Love it and it was filling - highly recommend trying it out. Churchills has a number of dinning rooms along with downstairs banquet areas that would be a great place for a party The manager came by to check on us -that is always a nice touch & our waitress Madison was efficient & friendly with good info when we asked questions Cheers Churchills

Yelp
10/10 recommend to a friend the service we had with Kendra. She was amazing and so much fun! Majority of our table got the bottomless mimosas and she stayed on top of it making sure to refill every time she came to the table & some all while still doing all of her other responsibilities. Thank you for so many great laughs and great service Kendra! The food was good! It is a little pricy and the portions are small. It was not enough food for my husband, so not the best bang for your buck... but the waffles may be worth it. Idk what they do to them but they were SO FREAKING GOOD! The mimosa flight was yummy and I enjoyed trying the 4 different flavors. The blueberry needed to be stirred a little as it was thick and settled at the bottom but not a deal breaker for me to order it again. We went on a Sunday so I was expecting a packed house, but the atmosphere was very calm and even after being there for an hour and a half it never got too busy.

Yelp
Great drinks! The Shepards pie was delicious however the inside was very runny. Our pretzel was still a bit frozen when we got it but did bother returning.. The bisque was extremely tasty. Would definitely come back for drinks and a few apps.

Yelp
Savoring a bit of my English heritage for dinner at this British style pub. The decor very much reminded me of many of the pubs I visited in England and the food was a nice blend of southern traditions and British staples. We were glad we had a reservation as the place was quite busy and the wait was quite long without one.
google avatar

Yelp
We shared a bunch of different things late night. Ambiance was typical for a pub, sadly we arrived as the entertainment was wrapping up. Food overall was good for traditional English pub fare. Server was attentive. - croquettes - good - onion rings - excellent with the horseradish aioli - chicken pot pie - excellent, flaky butter crust with tasty sauce - chicken BLAT salad - very good, traditional - meatloaf was average - pass on this one - shrimp linguini - very good, traditional with peas Overall, very good and would return to try other traditional fare like cottage pie and scotch eggs

Yelp
I came to Churchhill for a nice dinner at their rooftop that they advertise on the street. To be honest, I was a little disappointed with their rooftop. There's no view of the water, and only give you of a back alley. The service was actually very good and very tentative, but I found that their menu was slightly limited. I wouldn't recommend coming here for dinner but maybe for drinks with a group of friends. The ambience on the first floor is definitely an older silo bar and the setting is nice.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite. Two of us got the vegetable quiche, which was good but kind of dry. The salads were very filling that came with the quiche. Hubby and I each ordered a slider dish. He ordered the crab cake slider and I ordered the chicken bacon ranch sliders. We each switched a slider so we had 1 of each, both were delicious, the fries were good as well. We had a free pretzel bites appetizers which were odd, and I'm glad they were free. The service was good, our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. This looked like a British pub, the bar area was nice and the decor was very British. Overall we would stop back in for a beer, but wouldn't go out of way to come back.

Beth P.

Yelp
Eden was a huge part of our great experience at Churchill's. She was very accommodating to people in our party who had dietary needs (gluten-free). There was a large assortment of cocktails and beer and everyone in our group left happy.

Yelp
tourist trap and mediocre food. , why are all the drinks severed in plastic cups ? The oysters could have killed me
google avatar

Taylor B.

Yelp
Went here for brunch yesterday. We expected 16 people in our group but most decided not to go at the last minute so we only had seven. When we got there and informed them they were very understanding and accommodating. When Heather came to greet us she was still very excited to have the seven of us, knowing that nine didn't show up. She was such an amazing server and such a fun personality. She gave us great recommendations and never let our cups empty for the unlimited mimosas. The food was fantastic and great portions. We recommend coming for bunch and would love to go back for dinner. Heather you are awesome thank you for making us feel at home!

Yelp
This was our third or fourth visit to Churchill's as we don't come to Savannah very often but do like to visit this place. I had to drop a star because I was a little disappointed in the beer offerings which is our main reason for visiting here. They were out of one of the favorite beers I liked and much of the other beer was repeats from the last visits with only just a couple or three new offerings one of which I like the rest I didn't. I do wish they'd make more of an effort to have more rotating taps and don't keep repeating the same old same olds. The wait staff was always very friendly and accommodating as in the past. You can't beat the bar atmosphere it is a solid bar experience unlike anywhere else you would go. We had the bangers and mash again this time and it was just as good as the times before. This is one solid menu item I hope they never take off the menu. As for the beer menu, hopefully you'll switch that a little more often on a more occasional basis.

Yelp
10/10 - we LOVED Churchill's! We came in for lunch and to watch the World Cup game. Sat at the bar so we'd have the best view of the TV, but there were tables near the bar area you'd be able to see just as well. We stayed long enough to capture happy hour benefits with $2 off all drafts. Great deal when the beers start at $6! For food we had the English dip sandwich and apple turnover (I can't remember what It was actually called) dessert. Both were so so good and flavorful. Fries were *chefs kiss* as well. The bartender was an Angel and really added to our experience. Would recommend!

Yelp
Food was really good. We ordered the scotch egg which was phenomenal, large enough for two to share. I ordered the she crab soup and that was a perfect side on a cool day. I also ordered the fish n chips and it was good. The cod filet was very big but fried to perfection and quite tasty. My hubs ordered the steak and ale pot pie but was served the chicken pot pie instead. The server adjusted the bill. The drinks were good. The space was relatively quiet for a Friday afternoon.
google avatar

Alma N.

Yelp
Eden, our server, is the best! She was very friendly and made sure that we got our food and drinks fast. The restaurant atmosphere was awesome and food were delicious! Price is not bad also.
google avatar

Amy C.

Yelp
Dinner at Churchill's before our event. We got seating upstairs at the rooftop. It was really nice. We started with fried green tomatoes which was pretty good. I decided on snapper and grits for my entree. My fish was over cooked and under seasoned. My friends chicken pot pie was pretty good. Service was not bad.
google avatar

Jim E.

Yelp
Charming old Savannah building...brick & wrought iron and dripping in Southern charm! Large establishment with seating downstairs or on the rooftop. We opted for the rooftop! Bars both upstairs & down and has a great happy hour menu with $5 apps and a great drink menu! The onion rings are quite possibly the best I've had. Sweet & lightly battered and tender GA onions. Not greasy, and we quickly devoured them dipped in the fabulous Horseradish aioli. The menu has a lot of English/Irish pub food, and the Guinness meatloaf did not disappoint. Generous portion served over delicious mashed potatoes flanked by fresh green beans. It was moist and flavorful. High praise for the restaurant, the food & the staff! Can't wait to return!!
google avatar

Emily T.

Yelp
Food was mediocre but Georgie the bartender was amazing. Would not have had an enjoyable experience had he not taken care of us. Georgie was 5 stars!
google avatar

Jamie B.

Yelp
Only thing that might make this seem like a British pub is the long wooden bar. Nothing else is British nor British themed. I know I'm an expat. Service was quick, the beer was good. Might be more of a good place than a drinking place. Which again isn't very British at all.
google avatar

Cheryl V.

Yelp
AH-MAZING service at the bar! We had a great time here. Drinks were spectacular and the bartender was so attentive! Food was great too. We had such a good time mingling with the patrons here. Definitely a great place to hang out for the rainy day!
google avatar

Joe C.

Yelp
Best food ever and the lemonade is very very good but the fried chicken lacks flavor it's a British restaurant ‍‍‍
google avatar

Omaira L.

Yelp
To start, I have to say that our server, Morgan, was phenomenal! And the meal was too! I would highly recommend the Pink Panther cocktail which is likened to a strawberry flavored mojito. Everything was tasty, flavorful and well made. My companions and I all enjoyed our meals and for dessert the Apple Pastry. There was live music playing when we arrived on this Saturday night which was a nice touch. The atmosphere is casual yet classy and not too noisy; located in a prime area on Bay St in downtown. Great for a business dinner or date night!

Greg S.

Yelp
Went to enjoy an Easter brunch. Ordered the eggs Benedict, which was served with basically a hard boiled egg on top. Very disappointing. Also, once again, the restaurant is not looking at their audience music was so loud and having to listen to eye of the Tiger was ridiculous. Maybe crank up the tunes for the happy hour crowd Made for a very unenjoyable Easter brunch.

Claire S.

Yelp
Glad we chose Churchill's for lunch. We started with the French Onion soup which was nice and hot and cheesy. Then had the Churchill's Nibbles plate with onion rings, fried green tomatoes and sausage wrapped in pastry which was delicious (especially the wrapped sausage). The main dish we split was Steak & Ale Pie. It tasted as great as it looked! I liked bites of it with horseradish dip but my hubby liked it just as it came. We would have had a black and tan but didn't have room. Eden was a wonderful steward/waitress/service attendant (don't know the latest title). . We will return if we get a chance.
google avatar

Mo P.

Yelp
Great rooftop har with nice outdoor seating. The vibe was relaxing but didn't really have much of a view. The building felt quite historic and filled with charm. The old fashion was well made but I would skip the Aperol spritz. Food looked like good pub food but we didn't try it.
google avatar

Dee D.

Yelp
I went to the roof bar and the food and drinks were amazing!!! David got my intricate order straight and pleased me even when it got crowded. I'm visiting and I recommend this place for sure.
google avatar

Zoe S.

Yelp
We came here on a Friday night after walking around and trying to find a place to eat. We were seated right away. Our server was very friendly and service was super fast. We got oysters and they were good. Fish and chips was huge! And fried chicken was crispy. Collard greens were super flavor. They also have a rooftop, so that was nice to be able to sit outside on a nice evening

Tom B.

Yelp
So, if you want a bunch of preoccupied hostesses telling you what to do and never asking you if you want a drink, this place is for you!. We walked in and three hostesses were hanging out at the back of the bar. As we walked in, we tried to make eye contact to see about getting seated. I'm sorry we are a middle aged couple on a Monday afternoon, but we would still like to have a drink and a bite. We sat down at a table by the bar when it was completely wide open. We waited 10 minutes and then one of the hostesses came by...not to ask if we wanted a drink, but to tell us that in the future we should ask to sit at a table and she would let it slide this time. She then leaves without offering to take our order. We walked out and went to Moon River next door which was so much better.

Kerri M.

Yelp
Churchill's ended up being our favorite place. We visited multiple times during our visit, sometimes more than once a day. Everything from the atmosphere, staff, cleanliness, drinks and food was amazing! EVERYTHING we had was great.
google avatar

Laurie G.

Yelp
Service was bad even with reservation and an early dinner. I think her name was Laura but not sure. Brussel sprouts were burnt. Chicken pot pie was tasteless. Steak pie is the reason for the stars. It was really nice. Sausage rolls were ok. English coffee was straight gin. Server forgot apps, drinks were delivered 40 min after ordering (we had to ask), and we never saw her until the check. We paid at the hostess. People were walking out before ordering at other tables.
google avatar

Paula Z.

Yelp
Great experience! Lovely atmosphere, great service and delicious food. Terrific lunch/brunch menu. Had complimentary pretzel bites as an appetizer with a local coupon, my husband had the chicken pot pie- well seasoned and hot. Came with a small salad. I had the French dip, large portion and upgraded fries to Brussels sprouts. Amazing! Our server, Desiree, was top notch. Checked in frequently but we never felt pressured to speed things up. The bar looked like a fun place to hang out. Great music playing in the background, too.

Jacob A.

Yelp
1 star due to the hostile back server Name Akeya on the receipt . Black female with tattoos serving rooftop on. Would not even acknowledge people she was literally slamming the drinks in the table not just mine but all others. Utterly disgraceful behavior. I asked her for napkins and plates and she ignored me so I asked the bar tender and then she interrupted me and said !! What .. Chu wan!! As she rolled her eyes . Sorry people but this was disappointing and indefensible experience. food was actually good. First and last time . Ambiance was perfect ! But black female ruined it .
google avatar

Anastasia W.

Yelp
This is my second time going to the rooftop and it was a lot of fun! We sat at the bar for one drink and I enjoyed it! Bartender was very nice and made me feel so young when she asked to see my ID (haha)
google avatar

Anastasia M.

Yelp
This is a must stop when in Savannah! It's gorgeous inside and a relaxed atmosphere. Their spinach and artichoke dip is amazing, they are not stingy! There were so many artichokes, usually they're just pieces here and there but not here! The mushroom and lentil shepherds pie was a new comfort food! Wow wish I lived closer to get this often! The fish and chips exceeded expectations. I dare say that fish is better than I can find in Charleston.

John W.

Yelp
Great food and bartenders. Enjoyed my visit. Great atmosphere. Feels like a real pub.

Cheni K.

Yelp
British. Delicious reminder of home Loved the pickle fries and the cheeky chicken. The Rooftop Bar was lovely
google avatar

Erica C.

Yelp
The wings are huge! Great happy hour prices along with a nice rooftop view. Would highly recommend.
google avatar

Rose H.

Yelp
Fantastic brunch spot! The crab cake Benedict with extra hollandaise was delicious! I loved the bag it wasn't bulked up by adding a biscuit or bread! It came with a layer of grits, green fried tomato, poached egg and hollandaise sauce- perfect! For brunch I would totally have fried Brussel sprouts with bacon and hollandaise drizzled on top

Lisa R.

Yelp
Went with friends to Churchill's in March and sat on the rooftop. The view wasn't as good as we had hoped for but the service and food were excellent! We started with the Black and Tan Onion Rings; shared a dinner salad, a Chicken Pot Pie and the Bourbon Glazes Salmon. We enjoyed everything but the salmon was amazing, from the presentation to the flavors of the salmon and sides that worked really well together. It was a perfect ending to our day exploring Savannah! Only reason for the 4/5 stars is our disappointment with the view, which was probably our own perception. Would definitely go back and recommend to friends!
google avatar

Crystal R.

Yelp
This place certainly did not disappoint. By far the Snapper was delicious. Some of the best Chicken Pot Pie I have ever had. Also the Fried Green Tomatoes were extremely succulent and delicious. I love that this place has a rooftop as well. This is definitely delicious Southern Food at it's Finest. Yummy in my Tummy. It definitely hit the spot.

Yelp
Our server, Jaylynn, totally made this a great experience for us. She was friendly, authentic, attentive, and prompt. In addition, the food was tasty! We started with the Bloody Good Bloody Marys, and they were indeed bloody good. Nicely spicy and generously garnished. Next up, the fried green tomatoes with an abundance of pimento cheese. Both were delicious, although I preferred to eat the tomatoes and cheese separately to appreciate each. After that, we had the fish and chips and the chicken and waffles. The chicken was a little overcooked and dry, but the waffles were enough to make up for it--I loved that they had a little crunch from raw sugar caramelized on the waffle. The fish fillet was huge and nicely cooked. Generous portions and lovely service.

Denise F.

Yelp
We had dinner on the rooftop bar. Great little bar. Beautiful. I had the fried shrimp. Great batter and their fries are great! Hubby had thr bangers and mash. He was slightly disappointed, the sausage was pretty blah...which is probably what it is supposed to taste like. He was just looking for more spice.
