The 35 Essential São Paulo Restaurants

"Brazilian steakhouses — with their large, meaty cuts, long skewers, and picanha (the most popular Brazilian beef cut, also known as the "cap") — are famous even in the United States. For more than 50 years, Rodeio has served a traditional selection of grilled meats accompanied by biro-biro rice (stir-fried rice topped with crispy onions) and roasted hearts of palm. It's a place to celebrate Paulistas’ passion for flame-licked meat." - Rafael Tonon

The best picanha I've ever had. Very inventive salad and dressing also delicious and unique. I love the little yakatori style grills they use to cook everything in front of you. I also had the most amazing creme de papaia com cassis as well. It says a lot when a restaurant can take Brazilian national classics like those and make them stand out to such a level.

This is a wonderful place for fine dining in Brazil. We made a reservation for an early dinner at 6pm (7:30-8 is a more common time) and had the place to ourselves for quite awhile. The cheese bread is a must. It has a warm mild cheese flavor reminiscent of buttery popcorn. For our meal, we had a medium rare filet minion and a type of cap/flank steak paired with roasted vegetables and Carmen Insigne Carmenere Cabernet Sauvignon. The food and the experience were excellent. And the staff is amazing. We spoke very little Portuguese and relied on a translation app at times. They were friendly, patient and attentive.

Excellent choice of steaks, nice sitting area. A bit expensive but it deserves to be expensive.... A bit high end place to be precise. It's the from the last 50+ years, still rocking hard :)

While the food is good, its price is extremely high. Most unpleasantly, there are obnoxious hidden charges everywhere: we were brought an expensive bread set twice without asking for it and, beside a huge service fee, they slipped into the bill a supplement service fee (!) totally unjustified: so expect to be charged at least 100 reals per person, apart from the real food.

Meat was chewy. Salad had a lot of olive oil. The Rodeio rice was cold and hard. Service is good if you are a regular customer if not be ready for a fast service because they want you out of there.

The food was good. I actually ordered fish (robalo) but it was soft and tender. My wife ordered bacalhau but it was a bit dry and boring. The entrance and juices were also pretty good. The service was excellent. I also went there with two young kids and the staff was helpful in dealing with them, but there's no play area for them (which would make it a lot better for young families).

The food is amazing, the services is also very good. I have to say it is pretty expensive and for the price! And a special attention to the fact it is kind of unecessary to have different charges for the couvert. Regular couvert and a separate charge for the buffala cheese. It is unpleasant even to hear from the waiter that the buffala cheese is charged separately. If the idea was to set a 'value' for the premium, in this case for me, went the wring way.
