Why You Should Balance a Meal Between Homemade and Takeout Food | Eater

"Envisioned as a convenient takeout option for hosting, the restaurant’s crispy tacos were imagined as the main takeaway dish to pair with small homemade sides—such as blistered peppers and baked brownies—allowing the host to focus on one labor-intensive recipe while still supporting local restaurants." - Rebecca Roland

Chuy’s is a great place to go for a casual meal with friends or family. I’ve been multiple times and would recommend it. For the price it’s good food, service and portions. Plus the all you can eat homemade tortilla chips that they give you when you sit down are a nice touch. Worth checking out if you’re looking for a unique Mexican restaurant.

First time customer to get take out fur my birthday. Absolutely awful. Online ordering prices higher than menu price so I called to place my carryout order . Was asked if they could call me back or if I could call back. When I asked if they could just put me on hold, they said they didn't have that ability. 🤔 when I called back a minute later, the person was very rude. Curbside pickup was a bust. Had to go inside. Their "big as your head" burrito.. total BS. Flat, barely any filling, no lettuce or tomato, but a big bag of chips, cause I guess that's what I pd almost $16 for. Total ripoff. Never going back and will advise everyone I meet to choose anywhere else.

One of my favorite places to eat in Gainesville! Chuys has consistently good food and service. There are 3 dining areas that each have a separate feel - my favorite is the one with doc pictures (if you bring a framed dog photo, you can get a free appetizer!) but all are unique and have things to look at. Food-wise, I always get the hard shell tacos, which come with rice and beans. Chips and salsa are also included.

Coolest place ever. Love the decor and the ambient vibe. Wasn’t too busy during my visit but can tell this place is preferred by locals. Menu is simple but the food is good. The menu in my pictures are only of the drink menu, there is plenty to choose from. Definitely recommend.

I had the chicken flautas and they were quite good, very crispy and flavorful. My father had the tortilla soup, which I didn't taste but it smelled delicious. The obligatory chips were thin and crispy, the salsa fresh and not too cilantro-y, the cream dip very yummy with a little sting of heat. The sides -- refried beans and rice -- were fine. Adequate, but not memorable for being great or terrible.

I’ll admit , I like Tex-Mex better than authentic Mexican food. Chuy’s is my favorite Tex-Mex restaurant. The green chile roasted chicken enchiladas were phenomenal. I ordered the green chile Mexican rice to go with it and it was absolutely amazing. There was a bit of heat to it so beware (I loved it). The refried beans were soooo flavorful and seasoned. I can’t forget the jalapeño ranch dip!! Wonderful!! I like it better than queso to be honest! I’ll definitely be ordering that again when I return to the area.

Been here probably over 150xs. This is a go to if you like big, burritos stuffed, huge nachos called panchos and very good ranchero sauce and many other sauces. On site hand made tortillas. The Elvis Presley always hits hard also. Small but filling kids menu. Big portions and not shaking the spoon. Come see Zeke, Jordan, or Kacey. Excellent servers and a credit to their profession. Thanks for the food and good times. Looking forward to more rocking patio days. Gracias. 🤙🏾✌🏾

Came on a Sunday evening and taken to a booth. Sat by the window where the lady making tortillas, cool to watch. The bright palm trees 🌴 in the middle of the restaurant were fun! We liked the jalapeño ranch dip served with the light chips. We ordered the double fajita, with chicken and steak combo. It came with a big bowl filled with guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes & onions, and shredded cheese. The refried beans had a good flavor. The rice was a little dry and over seasoned for my taste. Strawberry margaritas was tasty and the beer was cold. The Tres Leches dessert was delicious and perfect for 2!
