"Ciao Bello, the neighborhood Italian restaurant from restaurateur Tony Vallone, has closed its doors. The restaurant served its final plates of pasta on Wednesday night, and Vallone’s partner Scott Sulma provided a statement to Eater confirming the restaurant’s shutter. “For nine years, Ciao Bello has been a neighborhood staple providing high quality Italian food in a warm atmosphere,” Sulma said in a statement. “It is through our great team and loyal guests that we have had such a tremendous run. It saddens us to say, that run has come to its end.” Known for its delicate, handmade pastas, crisp thin crust pizzas, and an unpretentious, family-friendly atmosphere, Ciao Bello earned a devoted crowd of regulars in its time. Diners raved about the pappardelle bolognese, and the seasonally-available osso buco was arguably the best take on the dish in Houston." - Mai Pham

Pizza was mediocre, but the Bello Burger my friend got was very good and the fries were amazing! Decent place.

I can't give more than a three because of the service. And atmosphere. We went for our anniversary and chose this place because the space is beautiful and romantic and food was highly recommended. After being seated it took about ten minutes for our waiter to greet us. Someone came by and gave us silverware but he did not smile and appeared to be mute( not really but he never spoke to us). Then persons that we could tell worked for the restaurant (probably management) walked by a few times and said hello but never asked if we were being taken care of. Then the waiter came and apologized and brought us a wine menu as if we only came for wine?!!! The lamb pasta is delightful. Hubby got the lobster ravioli on the specials menu and the portion was tiny but the pasta was great. I wish our server would have told us that it was going to be so small. The bread is good. The strawberry dessert that came very highly recommended was very mediocre. They used liqueur which I feel is a cheap way to make it sweet. My mom makes a strawberry delight that's way better than that dessert. Also, the restaurant temp was warm and after wine it was uncomfortable. And it was way too bright- like the closing lights to tell people to get out were on. Meh. I imagine that the staff is divided- just got a sense of disunity and poor morale and it was manifested in the service.

Atmosphere was great. Very impressive wine storage at the front with ladder access. I split the veal with a friend. $24/pp puts it at a $48 entree, a price I have no problem paying for just myself, however.... It came out looking exactly like my friend's girlfriend's chicken parmesan. The plate presentation is incredibly mediocre. While I've never had veal at an Italian restaurant, I feel like it shouldn't come out covered in cheese and marina. I've had much better entrees in Houston for a fraction of the price. The service was great and the staff was friendly down to the managers even though we lost track of time and stayed past closing time (sorry!) All in all, I might come back to try again but definitely will not indulge in extravagant food items to say the least.

The decor it's nice with a friendly festive atmosphere. The reason for visit was Houston Restaurant Weeks. The food tasted good. However, presentation was not so great. I think possibly ordering the family style sides for the table would have added more drama to our table, I guess is what we wanted!

From the moment we walked in the door, we were treated to an amazing culinary experience and excellent service. The dishes were all rich and flavorful. The bread selections were amazing and plentiful. Entrees were delivered quickly, and balanced flavors very well against the pastas. The veal stuffed ravioli? Absolutely amazing. There are a plethora of desserts to choose from - and they're all sinful. Well worth your dining dollar.

I had an unusually unpleasant experience my first time visiting this restaurant. I contacted the manager about it, and he (Scott) went above and beyond to make amends. The food, wine, and service were exceptional on my second visit. I highly recommend talking with their staff for food and wine recommendations. They’re very knowledgeable and friendly. This is definitely a place worth checking out!

Delicious upscale Italian place great for lunch and dinner. I work in the area so it's a nice place to stop by during lunch or after work. The service has always been top-notch. The dishes never fail to satisfy my cravings. I've had their typical pasta dishes as well as their salads. The soups are perfect along with their selection of wines. I have yet to dislike any of their dishes. The patio area is also a great space with plenty of lighting. A definite must try place to good Italian food.

Amazing service. They make everyone feel like a regular! I ate here once 4 months ago and upon returning for second time they remembered me, where I worked, and where I was from. They treat customers like celebrities! And, the food is worth every cent. Can't say enough good things. My favorite when in Houston!
