Yelp
Lots of untapped potential at this wine-focussed restaurant. The one time I dined here, there were more than a few issues... All easy fixes. Or, I could have been there on an off night for some of the issues. Not sure at this point if I will give them another try.
First off, I am a civilized and trustworthy person, I detest it when I sit for dinner and they have to "hold a credit or debit card" while you eat. So tacky! I asked if they had a lot of dine-n-dashes and she said just the other day, she forgot to get a card and the patron split. (Really!?)
Despite sitting at the bar on a slow night, I had to ask for both water and wine refills on multiple occasions. I tried three different wines. Two were pretty good, the third was not at all representative of the varietal. Pinot Noir should be red fruits, bright acidity, and a fruity, perfumed nose. They had a Var Pinot that was flabby, dark fruits, and had a lot of stinky brett. These were actual flaws, not beguiling characteristics that may be found in balance in a good wine.
The pizza was quite good, the salad too. But...
They serve water in PLASTIC CUPS, and they use PLASTIC flatware, and serve on cardboard, making it un-recyclable. So tacky! The napkins are super cheap and are in dispensers found in fast food restaurants. The presentation of the food in such a casual way is an insult to both the customer and the kitchen. (Do people steal the flatware, pizza trays, and napkins too!?!?!?)
The wine retail area was good size, and they cover a lot of ground, but I question some of the selections... I spotted some corporate junk, which has no place outside of a convenience store or chain sports bar. Some fishy imports too.
So, some poor wine choices are in play, and service lacks. Policies from the top are insulting and/or cheap too. Especially in this day and age, with credit cards getting stolen, copied, etc. Fine dines should not be doing this.
I hope things work out, it is a nice space.
