Restaurant Cibus – A Hot Spot, But Sadly Cold Food
We had high hopes for Cibus, the much-talked-about restaurant that’s made quite a name for itself. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t live up to the buzz.
The evening started with promise, but as soon as we placed our order, the entire meal was rushed to our table — at the same time as the amuse bouche. It felt hurried and careless, especially since our wine hadn’t even arrived yet.
We had ordered three lasagnas and one lamb shank. The lamb? Perfectly fine. The lasagna? Not warm. All three were sent back. That left one of us awkwardly eating alone while the others waited. About ten minutes later, the exact same plates returned — now warm, yes, but noticeably drier. Although the flavor was good, we had expected freshly prepared lasagna, especially from a restaurant of this reputation. The waiter insisted they were new plates. They weren’t.
To our surprise, about twenty minutes later, a new, freshly made lasagna was brought out to one of our guests who had barely touched his. It was delicious — as it should have been from the start. But by then, the moment had passed.
At the end of the evening, we expected
a small gesture — a complimentary coffee, perhaps — as acknowledgment of the experience. Sadly, nothing. On a positive note, the waitress was delightful, and the overall flavor of the dishes was very good.
Still, despite the quality of the food, we left with a bad taste — and not from the cuisine. Here's hoping they treat future guests with more care and timing befitting their ambition.
