7 New Things To Do & Eat In Chicago This Week - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Cielo, the rooftop bar and restaurant on top of Azul Mariscos in Goose Island, just opened. It’s full of couches and cabanas with wooden pergolas, and it also has a view of the Chicago river. Like Azul, the menu is mostly seafood (with crudos and ceviches) and you can expect a whole lot of booze and bass while you’re here." - adrian kane

We visited Cielo rooftop bar in mid May on a Saturday night and enjoyed the atmosphere. We didn't eat but got a few drinks at the bar and sat in the lobby area. The rooftop is very spacious and nice. It would be better if the walls weren't so tall because you can't see the city well over them. The decor was great.

Had a fabulous time at Cielo and received wonderful service from both the bar tenders one named Nina who was so nice and generous and a beautiful brown skinned woman (didn’t catch her name) who was absolutely delightful and attentive. I didn’t take pictures of the drinks but here are some pics of some snacks I had. Fried Chicken and chips and guacamole, salsa and elote “street corn” - both dish were delicious.

We were trying to find something to do so we came here. While the atmosphere is very nice the drinks are too expensive and they brought us a shot of Patron in a mini Dixie plastic cup...... absolutely NOT!

The rooftop was beautiful and the service was top tier. Everyone was super positive and helpful and when I didn’t like something they fixed the problem immediately. The Guavacita is delicious. Join them for a Friday or Saturday night for music and entertainment.

The event was temporarily postponed and DETROIT VIP did not deliver the advertised experience. I paid for a roof top table. The hotel atmosphere and roof is beautiful, cozy and welcoming. We ordered drinks and food. It started raining then all hell broke loose. The drinks was not even as full as a shot glass with no ice. The waitress couldn’t even tell the difference between chickens wings and whole chicken. We specifically told the waitress that orders were separate. She still placed our orders in one bag when the orders should have been separate. A $60 order was $74-$80. This event took people's money with no contingent plan for rain. We were told to go inside to the lobby. A security guard told us the lobby was full. We were told to go downstairs. No where to eat the food we as a group ordered. An extremely ignorant and rude black female with blonde hair was speaking to people like they were kids. And after she speaks to you in a rude manner she wants to call security like that’s supposed to scare us or allow her to continue to speak to us recklessly but she should watch her tone and how she talk to people! This is how altercations start. Not the slightest bit of organization, highly unprofessional. Because my sisters couldn't be offered a place to eat their food they didn't want the food if they had to walk around eating it with their fingers like a dog. The menu had prices on it but the bill changed all the prices higher than what's listed. I think that's false advertising. Basically illegal. They charged for ice in drinks. My sisters payed for 2 drinks only. They refuse to pay to be treated like trash in any establishment on this earth. It was the most horrible experience l've had at any hotel in my life. They should NOT be allowed to have events at the Cambria Hotel ever again.

4 stars for the size and look of the rooftop. Nice scenery. Everything else can go in the trash can. The food is trash and was served cold. I went to try their brunch menu, and everything was small plates and overpriced. Shrimp and grits were basic, the potatoes were dry, and the chicken and waffles were disappointing. So the food is overpriced, but you serve me on paper plates and plastic silverware?! The disrespect. Another place that will be grand opening grand closing. These restaurants just start off losing. They don't care about anything besides a grass wall and a bar. Spacious rooftop for music and cocktails if you are a drinker. I watched a party there and the bottle service looked cheap and the bubble machine looked kiddie lol. Again, I watched a birthday group who was sitting in the lounge areas and the bottle service was Titos and had a cheap looking light attached to it. The waitresses had on workout attire, but I guess they were suppose to look classy. It was just a mess, hands down. The place needs a better sound system, and the DJ's music was too loud folks couldn't hear themselves talk. It was 3:30pm. I guess every place wants to be under 18 and / or club. Where do the 40+ crowd go, because this definitely was a disappointment. I am a food snob, world traveler, and events planner. So this place is okay if you don't know any better, however for the ones that do, please do better. But the bar is so low now that you all will probably get a pass. I spent over $100. Tip is already included, which is annoying, and the server did the bare minimum. It was a guy (said he was hired by the venue) up there taking pictures. He is an entrepreneur and takes pics of folks while they are there in hopes of getting you to purchase the photos. So I just bought all of em for $40 to support him. I had good company, so it was cool but wasn't worth the $100+ I spent. IMO.

So I came here for my birthday. I had about 20 guests. My guest sat @ different tables. They move my items from the tables that my guests were sitting at or going to sit at. So I asked for the manager don’t know her name but she has blonde hair she was very rude once me and my guest were settled in our seats. They proceeds to send the same waitress over to my table with security, asked me to move again because the table that we were sitting at was reserved, but they were no reserve signs. Then the manager charge one of guest before 8 o’clock when on the website it’s says it was free before 10 cause I was over a 8 guests capacity sitting at a regular table. The manager was very rude and unprofessional. The waitress did eventually apologize, which I appreciated thanks and The security guy was cool. He got me a free shot. But Never again!! It’s sad how some African-American females get a little title and it goes to their head, being polite and kind will take you much further in life than being rude and not accommodating. I tried my best to be polite, evening through my frustration cause at the end of the day, I cannot allow a person to take my joy on my day of celebration of life. And I truly understand how hard it is to be a manager working with people with multiple personalities, Im also in upper management you’re not only representing yourself as a human being, but you’re representing the company that you work for. After going down the timeline and reading the reviews it’s amazing how you guys only reply to the five star and it’s so many reviews regarding the manager. 3 1/2 stars reviews for a five star hotel dealing with customer service it should be unacceptable. My family + friends and I came here last night (Saturday) for “Rooftop Rhythms with Kern Brantley and D-Town Funk”. It was advertised that there would be a $10 cover or a ticket could be purchased in advance. We all purchased tickets in advance, but once we arrived no one asked to scan our tickets or to pay a cover; that was clearly a money grab. Service was so slow (my cousin paid for a section), I ended up going to the bar to grab a drink. 15% gratuity was charged at the bar along with a 5% service charge because I paid with a card. A single drink (a Last Word cocktail made with Bombay gin - not top shelf) served in a plastic cup with no ice, cost me $29.72. I ordered a chicken ceaser wrap, it never came out so, I can’t say if the food is good or not. This place is egregiously overpriced for the experience. I highly doubt I’ll ever come back here.

Yelp
Went here Saturday 8/16/25. Beautiful rooftop, nice views & scenery. The food was great, the waitress was amazing but the dead air was disappointing & idk who the blonde hair lady was but she was rude, Bitter & disrespectful! There was no music playing so we requested it. 5:30pm my bestie & i was here for a bite & drink to enjoy her birthday. We had a 3 person table top on the roof. Or at least it started that way... We sat ourselves like everyone else because at the time there was no hostess. We orders shots & and food w/ our beautiful lady waitress. She told us we could move to a booth if we spent $400 min. We said ok cool because we will have more ppl coming later. She also said most booths were because they are waiting to see if it rains based on the cloudy weather! We both had wings, we shared the trio dip & chips. Eventually more of our family & friends came. 1song was playing on their speakers then it just stopped... Eventually A host showed up so my bestie asked can we move to the corner top left booth by the stage/band. It was allowed so we moved. Our party of 2 turned to 6 as the day went on. The band started around 7ish. The music was all over lol. Different genres. We ordered more drinks. The waitress told us we pass the $400 mark so we were good. But then the blond hair lady came to our booth n said. " Hi ladies, are you apart of ...?" I said no, we don't know what that is. My bestie told her the hostess approved us sitting here & we spoke to the waiter b4 doing so. She said "well you have 30mins to move!" & we gave attitude & neck rolls while doing so. & we were in the middle of a conversation before she interrupted us! The food took a very long time to come out for the rest of our party. So much that they took it off the bill w/o us having to say any. The waitress was amazing. But the blond hair lady was bothering ppl over booths & seating. When in fact none of the tables or booths had a sign saying reserved! We did not stay for the rock band show. & it was odd that she brought out my party's food when she wasn't our waiter. We likely won't be back here! Made us feel uncomfortable, like she did something to the food.
