When I first set foot in the parking lot of the restaurant, I knew it was going to be good, considering just how many people are in line and waiting for their food. It was lunch time and there were a bunch of businesses around so it made perfect sense that there was going to be a lot of people. The restaurant was just a short drive from nearby hotels, and it's a convenient lunch spot with excellent Mexican food for a decent price. I ordered 3x carne asada tacos, 1 lengua taco, 1 lomo de res taco, a side of pico de gallo, and guacamole and chips and it was only $30 including tax and tip. After having lived in San Diego throughout my undergraduate years, I'm fairly picky when it comes to Mexican food, but boy did Cilantro hit the spot. I'm now extremely jealous that Illinois has Cilantro as a chain restaurant...it's time for y'all to cross the border to Wisconsin and open one in Milwaukee.
The tacos with the pico de gallo and guacamole (plus both the mild and medium salsas) were excellent. The only thing I forgot about was the LIME. I wish they had put in some as they were packing the food for to-go, but now I know. The meat was fresh and the tortillas were great. I loved the pico de gallo and the guacamole, both were so well done. Even though I'm only in Chicago for a short time, I 100% would come back again to try their burrito. Just a warning that the wait may be long if you decide to go during lunch on a weekday! If you can order ahead online, it'd definitely save you some time.
Anyway, bottom-line is that if you need a good and affordable lunch, Cilantro is the place for you to go!
