Ghost Kitchens Might Be the Future of Restaurants | Bon Appétit

"A Chipotle-esque fast-casual spot in Livermore, California, opened in 2018 that spawned a popular french-fries pop-up. The parent restaurant provided the initial kitchen and footing for the fries concept to test and grow beyond its home market." - ByPriya Krishna

Hand made fresh tortillas. Everything was fresh and tasteful. The meat was well cooked and fresh. I tried fish, shrimp & chicken. Everything was amazing. Fish taco was really good!! Haven’t seen this fresh and yummy tacos around Livermore. The spicy sauce was very creamy & yummy. I would definitely recommend this place for taco lovers. I couldn’t find chorizzo taco in their menu. That is one of my favorites, it will be great addition to their menu.

Google
The hand made tortillas are to die for, however, it was hard to taste the food through all the oil that was in the meat. I swear it came out of each taco like a water fountain. Maybe some pre draining of the meat after being cooked would be good. Then more draining before putting it in each taco. It made the whole thing soggy. The one in San Leandro is great. Never had an issue before

Melissa

Google
First time ever going to this place. It's hard to find good tacos. But let me just say DAMN!!! Definitely will be back. The tacos, quesadilla, chips, salsa and the margaritas! Omg so good. Did i mention everything is made fresh? Include the soft taco shells!!!! I'd give 100 stars if possible. Keep up the amazing work

Google
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Delicious tacos, homemade shells, cold beer, and fast service — Taco Bar is a must-try!

David Quint

Google
Very good tacos! Hard to find a place with fresh tortillas. All the meat and variety of toppings were above other places in Livermore. Great margaritas too.

Dan Heidbrider

Google
Fantastic food here and the employees couldn't have been nicer. You can taste the fresh ingredients and they take pride in their food. The taco salad was great. I tried the carne asada taco as well which was also fantastic. They make the soft tortillas fresh right in front of you. I'll definitely be back.

Google
Flavorful , bold, and unforgettable. The shrimp was perfectly charred, nestled in a warm corn tortilla that tasted like it was made minutes before. Topped with just cilantro, onions, and lime—with tangy salsa.. Sometimes, the less fuss, the more flavor.

Brooke Hulsey

Google
Quick service with quality ingredients and decent prices (Comparable with the local taquerias). Carne asada burrito was one of the best I’ve had locally. Not fatty or under seasoned. Some days they’ll make quesabirras but you have to ask the staff if the cook is willing. (Hint hint management - please add this option!)

Yelp
I was craving some nachos today, and most the time I think it's hard to find some good nachos! I wasn't up for going out and decided to try something new. My bf told me about Cinco Taco Bar and how delicious it was but I'm quite picky. Let me just tell you!! The food is so delicious and cooked to perfection. I called the restaurant requesting a couple adjustments to my order and the worker who answered was very kind, excellent service. I am so impressed I will be going to Cinco Taco Bar this weekend with my bf to try it in person too!!

Yelp
I walk in. Girl behind the counter literally looks me in the eye, then looks me up and down and says not one word. I say Hiiiiiii. She smirks and rudely says hi as she continues to look me up and down. It's very apparent she doesn't like white people. My first time to a Cincoa location and it will definitely be my last: And it wasn't busy at all, only one customer waiting for their food at 8:20 PM, 40 minutes before they close so there's no excuse . No chance I'll ever go to one of these places again .

Yelp
I love Cinco TacoBar! It's definitely part of my Livermore taqueria rotation. I've had their tacos and burritos and both are delicious. I appreciate their freshly-made tortillas for tacos. They offer a variety of taco toppings - guac, cheese, grilled veggies - you name it! They always load up my tacos and I always leave full & satisfied. Their al pastor is a standout and I'm a big fan of their spicy orange salsa. In a town with so many solid taco options, Cinco TacoBar is worth visiting!

Yelp
Ordered the taco salad and similar to the chipotle style of ordering . Loved it! The meat were seasoned well (we all ordered a different type of meat). Enjoy the fact they make their own chips!!! Refreshing and flavorful. Only issue , I wish they had mint leaves to make a refreshing mojito. They have only two locations in the east bay so I will have to travel across the bridge but worth it. Will definitely return !!!

John B.

Yelp
The portions were tiny. I spent a $18 (including tax but not tip) for a simple burrito that had a some rice and beans and a tiny bit of meat (no cheese, sour cream or guac). I asked the server for help in ordering but she just pointed to the menu. I left a good tip (my mistake) hoping she would at least load me up with chips and salsa. Nope. 7 chips. The salsa was fantastic, but I asked for extra (enough to flavor those 7 chips and also the burrito), but they only put one small vessel of salsa on the plate. They were so stingy with everything. When I leave a restaurant still wanting for food, and spent 1/3 more than I spend on equivalent food at similar restaurants, I've gone to the wrong place.

Yelp
This lil spot was so so good!!! We just went again tonight and have been two other times. Very authentic delish tortillas handmade and rolled out fresh! All the ingredients were fresh and made to order! It has a full bar and the prices are very reasonable. Service was very quick, staff was friendly & knowledgeable about all the menu items. The restaurant is small but has beautiful mural on the wall. The full bar is stocked well with all the makings of great cocktails! We will definitely be repeat guests!

Yelp
Ay, Dios mío! I stopped here on a road trip and my heart will long for this place until I can return! What a hidden GEM this restaurant is! The food was outstanding, the people working there were very kind and the decor was very fun. The agua frescas are always a bonus. I have celiac so I of course have to talk through the menu for gluten free items and food handling. The staff was able to help talk about the options, and find some really tasty tacos, and I really enjoyed the fresh corn tortillas. Most of the meats were gluten free. And the portions were giant! Two tacos were plenty. I wish we were locals, and could eat here more often, but I enjoyed my lunch stop before driving through the city. I will be here again when travel permits. Please do stop by to enjoy the food if you are in the area, it was so delightful.

Yelp
The first time I went to Cinco Taco Bar was last year for a Yelp event, and I remembered that was the first time I tried Horchata. I totally fell in love with it. I was in Livermore for work one Friday, and I decided to stop by here to get lunch before my work. I got the nachos, churros, and a horchata. The nacho were flavorful, crunchy, and delicious! The horchata was perfectly sweet with the lovely flavor. The churros were pretty good. It was definitely too much for one person. I think I ate 2 when there was like 4 or 5 pieces. I would definitely hit up this place again the next time I'm in the area. :)

Yelp
First time and not our last time. Very good! I just love how the meat isn't skimpy like Chipotle. It isn't "generous", but it does lean towards it on the spectrum. I had a carnitas bowl w all the fixings, love all the yummy toppings! Love the free chips and salsa with my eat in entree! Hubby draft modelo was almost $8 and came as a 24oz! Wow! Huge! I'd definitely choose this place over Chipotle for variety of toppings, flavor, and generous meat! Refried beans and nacho cheese? Ugh, my guilty pleasure.

Yelp
Great choice of food to fill up on before heading to the nearby wineries. We walked in Sunday at 12:30pm. It wasn't busy at all. We had no idea that the tacos were fully loaded. There were so many toppings to choose from. The lady was so nice to let us try samples of the meats to find which one was juicy and tender. We liked the beef brisket and carnita best. They make the corn tortillas fresh when you order tacos so that took a while to cook. We had to eat our tacos with a fork since it was impossible to pick it up with our hands. The tacos came with chips and salsa. The salsa had a kick to it. Love they also had pickled veggies and onions. We didn't feel it was authentic but still good. It's self serve type of place.

Yelp
Someone say Taco bar?! Oh yeah! This place is great. Good food and you build your own tacos! Tasty and friendly service to help you on you plate. Great environment to eat and enjoy friends and family at!
google avatar

Cory N.

Yelp
Cool little spot. I like the fact they serve on metal trays. All tacos are custom with some meat choices you don't usually see. Nice interior! Hand made corn tortillas! #spicemeister approved!
google avatar

Rodrigo V.

Yelp
This place was amazing. Their food is fresh with grape flavor and they were really friendly. I was shocked that this place was empty. Why are you guys not supporting this local place do better Livermore cause they deserve your support. I had three tacos and my wife had a burrito. Both of us were amazed by the flavor and spice! And they have a tequila bar!
google avatar

Rebecca B.

Yelp
Delicious!! Fresh food, so many options. This place should be brimming with people, but it looks like something is off with the mapping on Yelp. Don't pass this up!! It's over in the corner and absolutely worth it! The employees were extremely friendly and they have Modelo on draft along with a Tequila Bar!!

Yelp
Was in the area and stopped in to get a to go order of fish tacos and a crunchy carnitas tacos. There's a bunch of veggies and salsa to choose from. Being my first time and sorta overwhelmed, I told the lady to make them how she likes to eat them. The tacos were sooo good! nothing like a scratch made pressed tortilla. There was a dressed slaw she put on the fish tacos and with the salsa, it was pretty great. I had to get a crunchy carnitas taco because the carnitas looked so juicy, but not too juicy so my taco was still crunchy by the time I got home. The pineapple agua fresca was refreshing, but a bit sweet, so get ice! Definitely will stop in here whenever I am on the area. The lady that made my food and the gentleman that rung me up were super nice. I assume they also have churros because the chips tasted like them.
google avatar

Brenda L.

Yelp
First time at Cinco TacoBar! We were in the area when craving for fish tacos started calling. They seemed to have a pretty good selection of items and reviews, so that influenced us to stop by! I ordered the fish tacos and al pastor tacos. The fish tacos were delicious - the beer batter flavors were strong and the fish was nicely crisp on the outside, and moist on the inside. The salsas on top added a nice pop of color and acidity too. The al pastor on the other hand was also good; the pork was a tad bit dry, but I liked the spice level and the salsa added on top made it great. The tortillas for both in general were a little doughier than I liked, and could've used a bit more time getting cooked/toasted. The women who made our orders were nice and friendly! Super patient overall since we had a large order of 20+ tacos lol. Chips are complimentary here too, which is a nice plus!

Yelp
Was looking for spot on Yelp and we thought we were going to man vs fries but that is actually part of there menu but we stayed and tried the food which was pretty good we couldn't order off the man vs fries menu as the don't substitute anything on that menu
google avatar

Alicia L.

Yelp
So glad we visited this place on the way home to the Bay Area! The burrito bowl was great. Chicken and carne asada were both super flavorful and soft. ALL the veggies and toppings... oh so yummy! I will def be back whenever I'm in town. Wish there was one in the peninsula. Also, I'm a chip and salsa girl and their chips are fresh, crisp, and the salsa was fire. Happy girl.
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
I ate here often a few years ago and it is still excellent. My favorite part is the homemade fresh tortillas, the quality shines thru with the Mula (a cheese corn tortilla snack). The brisket was enjoyable, the carne asada meh. Quiet place, I wish they had a better location so they would get more foot traffic. Very nice service.
google avatar

JD L.

Yelp
Not sure how this has 4.5 stars. Thinking the reviews could be AI generated. This place is dog water. Food lacks flavor and portions were skimpy. Service is slow. The beers, however, are cold.
google avatar

WhosAce G.

Yelp
Very good ambiance, place was clean, but the bathrooms smell, staff were friendly, and the portions were very very good, and the price is really good for the amount you get
google avatar

Joshua S.

Yelp
Good food and service. Cool place. Very friendly staff and quick. I recommend the carne asada. Tacos are $4.95 but they don't charge extra for toppings, that's all inclusive "fully loaded". I wasn't charged extra for guacamole, sour cream, etc, which is cool. The chipotle and cilantro sauces and guacamole are good. Also, they offer samples of meat! I asked the server to point out what the salpicón was and he gave me a sample! Good thing too because I decided I prefer the carne asada. Very nice of him to do, I was just curious what it looked like!
google avatar

Sean B.

Yelp
Had a carnitas burrito here. It was pretty average, and a bit on the bland side. On the upside, service was quick and friendly, and it's a bright, clean spot.
google avatar

Uday M.

Yelp
Have come here a few times and it never disappoints. They put a generous serving of everything on your taco for $5 per. Their lemonade is good but the flavored margaritas are a bit too sweet.
google avatar

Aaron W.

Yelp
I like Cinco better than Chipotle personally. The bowl or quesadilla are my go to. All of the meats are tasty including the carnitas and brisket.
google avatar

nathan z.

Yelp
GET THE PAPA LOCAS. They are so good. I think overall I'd give this place 4/5 stars - but the best thing here that I've had is the papa locas. It's this absolutely loaded plate of waffle fries, with meat, cheese, beans, and all the toppings you could desire. It is SO GOOD. My girlfriend and I always come back here specifically for the papa locas. Get it - you will not be disappointed.
google avatar

Vineet S.

Yelp
Incredible food and service. Got the three enchilada plate with mixed beans and rice. They chips and salsa come with. Al-pastor, carnitas, and pollo we're all very much spot on. I wish there was some cotija but it's NBD. Extremely friendly and accommodating staff! No AC that day, but they had fans. Would come back again.
google avatar

Anvita S.

Yelp
Stopped here on a drive back from Yosemite and omg I wish I lived closer so that I could have this all the time. Just incredible prices and portion sizes and incredible food. The fish taco is a must try - you won't see it on the protein list but it is listed separately on their menu so don't miss it! It comes done up with cabbage and a fiery hot sauce. The Al pastor is also beyond flavorful and juicy. I loved adding custom toppings and sides to my tray. Lastly do not sleep on those waffle fries! I'd probably try a different dipping sauce next time (we got jalapeño cilantro) but the texture was just too good. We came in a big group of 10 and everything from the quesadillas to the bowls and all the proteins available were approved.
google avatar

Vivi C.

Yelp
Food is pretty authentic, tried Burritos, tacos, mula, and their house made Mexican drink. Friendly staff and good service. it's a casual dining place. Price is reasonable and they use handmade tortillas. There's a bar inside too! Spent about $64 for 4 people. Plenty of parking.
google avatar

Alissa D.

Yelp
Arrived with a group of 20 and everyone was very nice and accommodating! There were awesome options for many different dietary needs. The food was great and everyone left very happy! Thank you Cinco TacoBar!!!
google avatar

Jesse R.

Yelp
Imagine a better-tasting Chipotle with fresh ingredients for a similar price. One carnitas and one chicken taco, both amazing! That does sound like an immediate 5/5, but it's not perfect. The tables were sticky and I did not see a single fork I could access. Not sure if Newsom the SIC [socialist in chief] has banned plastic cutlery or if that's just this store. After eating, I saw others had forks, maybe we had to ask.

Rob M.

Yelp
Og unc seemed bothered i choose to eat at his establishment lol. Still fd w my boy tho. Got my go to burrito all meat chicken that joint came out the same size as a frozen chimichanga not rob mack approved srry gang but i gta let the ppl know. Food was cold also. The meat had a good flavor for being cold doe

Yelp
If you're in the mood for some tacos, burritos, burrito bowls, quesadillas, or a nice beverage for yourself, your family, or hanging with some friends, stop by Cinco TacoBar! This place has bright colored walls with colorful cultural murals and cute neon signs to take any selfie or foodie photos with. Plenty of seating to host a small or large group along with higher table tops that wrap around the window areas. This spot makes fresh hand-pressed and gluten free tortillas and has a "build-your-meal" assembly line process. They have a variety of protein options to choose from: carne asada, pollo asado, carnitas, camaron ($1.50 extra for shrimp & meat $3), al pastor, salpicon, and vegetarian. You get all the fixings to choose from except adding guac is $2.25 but you get FREE chips and salsa with your meal! Everything is constructed in front of you as you tell the staff member what you want on your meal. The al pastor is definitely a must have and try the spicy orange sauce along with it! The agua fresca and horchata come in a tall to-go cup. Each drink is cool and refreshing as you enjoy each bite of your meal. Cinco Tacobar is located in a strip mall right off the 580 freeway with plenty of parking. The restaurant is overall pretty clean with 2 large gender neutral bathrooms. With friendly staff, support the local business whether it's dining in or taking it to go, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
*LOCATION* This restaurant is in a quiet plaza right off of I-580. I didn't even know it was there until my coworkers wanted to go one day! *WAIT TIME* Our party of five met around 6pm on a random Tuesday after work to celebrate Taco Tuesday. There weren't many people dining inside so it was pretty empty, but there were several parties that came for take-out orders. You place your order at the start of the food counter and move your way down to the register. *FOOD* -Spiked Jarritos: It was my first time here so I had to get this! You get to choose your flavor of Jarritos and there's a subtle touch of tequila -Chips, salsa, guac: yum yum and yum! -Asada nachos: fresh tortilla chips + any toppings you want -Papa loca: fresh waffle cut fries + any toppings you want -Tacos: fresh tortillas rolled and heated at the counter when you order, can also load this with any toppings you want -Churros de cajeta: churros have a sweet cream filling inside (dulce de leche? caramel?) and comes with a side of chocolate dipping sauce, delicious! ++ The food portions are very generous and I love how everything is made to order! ++ *SERVICE* The staff were all very nice. They even allowed us to order drinks first (and pay later) while we were waiting for the rest of the party! *AMBIENCE* This place honestly gives me fancy Chipotle vibes (LOL)! The inside is bright + spacious and I loved the wall art + decor. The string lights on the ceiling are also a cute touch! This is a great place to grab a bite with friends or coworkers :)

Yelp
I had 2 soft tacos (chicken and beef - I believe carne asada) with black bean. I also drank nice mimosas (guava and mango flavored) with fresh fruits (blackberries and strawberries). The servings and portion were very large you'll get full or feel satisfied with just one taco! I was surprised as I usually don't get full with 1 taco and it takes 2-3 tacos to fill me up. The chips are authentic, crispy, warm, and large and I was glad they offered a nice spread of select salsas along with the chips for some nachos on the side. The chips were so good they can substitute for a large taco in place of the soft one, probably one of the best chip servings I ever had. I ended with a freshly made-to-order which had a soft fluffy inside, which I find comparable to mochi and not something I've seen before in a churro which was a really nice touch that made this something really unique and different from most churros that I have had in the past. This place is a must for locals and owners pride themselves as proud a Latino family-owned business with authentic Mexican food. I highly recommend.

Sam K.

Yelp
Really disappointed. I've visited this place frequently, but this time was a mess. I watched a worker handle money at the register, then only removed one glove before preparing food--the other glove, still dirty from handling cash, was used to touch the food. Then she accidentally dropped my food and had to cook it again, but still didn't change gloves or wash hands. That's a serious health concern and just gross. Food safety should be taken seriously.
google avatar

Nish Z.

Yelp
The food here still is A+. But the owner seems to care so little about their employees and customers! It's been about 2 weeks that their AC is broken. The place is literally an oven and the poor employees are sweating it out So unfair such terrible conditions. In the 5 mins that we were there getting takeouts we couldn't wait to get outside. And they couldn't even keep the door open.. so so disappointed with the owners!! This is no way to treat your employees. Do better.
google avatar

Amy P.

Yelp
Very good and fresh flavorful food. We've had the tacos and burritos. I like the fresh soft corn tortillas. The hibiscus drinks are really good. I found the churro to be too sweet for me but the kids liked it. Always clean quick and friendly service.
google avatar

Livier M.

Yelp
I was a little hesitant with trying this place because I consider myself a snob with Mexican food. When you grew up with a mom who was an amazing cook and with the Central Valley having some really great options, it makes for a picky Mexican food eater. I recently moved to the area and have been unsuccessful in finding a decent taco spot so when I saw the reviews I decided to give it a try. The pros: handmade tortillas, salsa and chips included, tons of salsa and meat options, and full bar. The cons: pricing for tacos is a little high and the asada meat had no seasoning. The salsas were cool but even added on top of the tacos they lacked flavor. We finally asked for some lemon and that tied everything in. But again the meat should have seasoning so they can be enjoyed with or without salsa and limon. I'd still say this is a solid spot for anyone in the area.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
Good food! Salpicao Burrito is the best meal for me! I've been here so many times and Salpicao is the best meat for me in my opinion.
google avatar

Lisa N.

Yelp
4.5 rounded up to a 5! This place is SOOOO good. They make their own tortillas fresh and you can see them making it in front of you. I love how well the tortillas hold up and it doesn't get soggy. They overload your tacos with meat, definitely super generous with the portions. They have an extensive options of what you can add to your tacos. All of the toppings are free of charge besides guac. I usually don't get fish tacos but I decided to try it out based on other reviews and it definitely didn't disappoint. The fish was perfectly crisp but tender on the inside. The slaw and vinegar onions balanced everything out nicely. I love how every meal comes with chips and salsa as well. My gf got the carne Asada tacos and she really enjoyed it. Make sure to finish off your meal with their delicious churros! Their horchata is good as well but I wish it had more cinnamon. One of my new fav Mexican spots!
google avatar

Patty A.

Yelp
This was our first visit to Cinco TacoBar because of the fantastic reviews here on Yelp! This food was authentic, the service was fast and friendly and the quaint little spot was perfect! We will be back!
google avatar

J Christian E.

Yelp
Pretty good meal. Looks like they make their own tortilla in-house as they had to mold it themselves and cook it. Tacos were delicious however I would say their carne asada was okay. Highly recommend getting Al Pastor instead; it was seasoned well and had lots of flavor to it. On the other hand, the Carne Asada could of used more seasoning and felt a bit on the drier side to me. The tortilla for the taco was on the thicker side; similar to a sope. I didn't mind but definitely up to personal preference. The quesadilla was a simple cheese quesadilla but tasted really good and had no complaints here. The chips could hold their own, it was crispy and airy. The horchata went down smooth and did not disappoint. Will definitely come back to try a burrito another day.

M L.

Yelp
I love the food, especially the tortillas, but the customer service does not exist. It's unfortunately the reason I don't frequent the business often
google avatar

Gabrielle L.

Yelp
Food was delicious! That fresh tortilla makes a huge difference! Service... wonderful! Robert had such a great personality and sure knows how to make someone smile! Atmosphere was chill and it wasn't crowded.
google avatar

Andre F.

Yelp
Great quality food, generous with toppings. We asked for things that weren't apparent on the menu: a fish taco and some horchata, and they had it. Very tasty salsa. Spacious. Lots of art in the room. Friendly service.
google avatar

Donnie Mac M.

Yelp
I had been wanting to try it for a while based on the reviews. This place is pretty good. I was a bit disappointed that the "fresh made" tortillas were pre made and wrapped in foil. We had the pollo, al pastor, and carnitas tacos which were all pretty good. They have a full bar with margaritas, etc. I had a tall Altamont Maui Maui from the tap. It was ice cold. Location in the discount strip mall is interesting. The place is clean and seems pretty efficiently run. I'm glad I tried but I think I'll stick to my usual more authentic taqueria. Worth a try, though.
google avatar

Richard H.

Yelp
Located in a strip mall, just of the 580 freeway. Food bar. Similar set up (like Chipotle) but more authentic meats. Choice of tacos, burrito, or bowls. Select your delicious proteins: I recommend the Salpicon (beef brisket) and Carnitas. Well seasoned, tender beef and pork in their savory juices. Rice and choice of beans, refried, black beans. Veggie toppings, cheese, onions, and sauces.

Layla O.

Yelp
This place needs to step it up. They are falling off big time. Today I had a burrito with chewy hard steak, watery pinto beans, and clumpy rice. I should have honestly walked out. The lady making my food pretended to not notice the clumps of rice or the watery beans. Then I go to the register where two ladies are talking. The one at the register is taking forever to pack up my food because she won't stop answering whatever questions the other lady who works there was asking in Spanish. I finally had to tell her I'm in a hurry please give me my bag. The whole thing was ridiculous.
