Cindy’s on 34 is such a gem! The food tastes homemade and always comes out fresh and flavorful — true comfort food done right. The staff is warm, attentive, and makes you feel right at home. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the atmosphere is cozy with plenty of outdoor seating. Whether you stop in for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you’ll always leave full and happy. Highly recommend this spot to anyone passing through or looking for a great local favorite!

Worth a stop in and enjoy good home cooking, menu is loaded with a variety of delicious dishes! Had the farm skillet with spinach add in ! Sour dough bread.

Given where this is located I didn't have high expectations but this was I think designed to be a local diner however the service was somewhat poor the food was not great. So I imagine if you're a trucker pulling up the highway looking for a place to eat it would work but definitely not great. I was only visiting because I was in town do a contract shift down the street. However the second time I came through and went to a different restaurant and had a better experience even in this small little town.

Great server!! The bow tie chicken noodle soup was amazing!! And I had it a month later here, and it was consistent with freshness, flavor...and each time, the pasta was aldente, NOT mushy!!

Something for everyone and everything exceeds expectations. I enjoyed lo cal sirloin. My daughter loves hash browns and enjoyed her skillet. My son loved his burger and the chicken noodle soup that went with it. My wife got a salad big enough to share with the table. We make this a deliberate stop whenever we drive this way from Georgia to Minnesota.

1. Drivers!!! 2. $10 shower, with everything you need inside! 3. Free parking . 4. Restaurants well worth it. (Big portions). 5 clean lot. Lovely and quiet place for the night.

Just the smells from the restaurant getting out of our vehicle we knew we chose the right place! Not many places open for Christmas but dang what a gem we found on our road trip! No pics because I was so dang hungry lol and so was my family they'd have flipped if I said wait a sec lol let me get a pic! Nobody was open! So glad now! Totally deserve a shout out!

An unexpected pleasure! It's a truck stop afterall, so I didn't have high expectations. But they hit it out'ta the park. The Biscuits & Gravy Omelette was unusual AND delicious! The service was perfect. And even the ambiance was really nice, clean and bright. Even grabbed a (not overly sweet!) piece of cherry pie for later on. Can't go wrong here.

Every dish was popping hot! For every table being used in the restaurant the noise level was very low and comfortable. We were seated right away and taken care of quickly!

Fresh! Great tasting food. Actually, delicious! Cindy's fed me well. My encounter with Cindy started with a friendly young lady who greeted me with a smile and a cheerful "How are you this evening "? I knew that I was in good hands. There are quite a few items on their menu, and if you're observant enough, you'll find specials written on a chalkboard. Of course, I wasn't aware and missed the opportunity of them entering my stomach. So the menu it was. I chose the Western Cheeseburger. I know, not very original, but heck, I was tired and hungry. Something needed to be in front of me and that something needed to be fast. It popped off the page, so I just went with it. My burger came with fries and soup. A novel idea pairing soup with a burger, but when in Rome... my vegetable beef soup was super good. Chock-full of wonderful stuff from the ground and a generous amount of animal that grazes on that ground. The burger was good, too. You get to choose between skinny fries and steak fries. I like how you get a choice. Cindy aims to please. Don't forget dessert. It's available in abundance. I didn't partake as I had homemade cookies waiting for me in the car. I had to resist the urge to order some ice cream. The options sure looked tempting. If you don't have cookies waiting for you, then go ahead and splurge. Quick Tip: The sign on the wall says Home Cooking. It connotes good fresh food. But whose home? Certainly not mine. No, my home cooking is strictly freezer driven with some fast food thrown in for good measure. My point being, when you find a great place to eat, take advantage of it. I wish I had a Cindy's near my house. Heck, I wish I had a Cindy in my house!

Nice little family restaurant on our way to Galena. I enjoyed my Tuscany pasta with shrimp: spinach, roasted peppers. In a creamy white sauce. Huge portion! Hubby had the chopped steak dinner and it was supposed to be medium rare, but it was medium. Both of our entrees came with a scoop of ice cream for dessert...

Stop!!! To GOOD TO BE TRUE! But in FACT the truth is ...Don't eat here. You will be extremely SATISFIED, HAPPIER AND SLEEPIER & OVERALL ecstatic. Tastefully, Peaceful and calm setting! It'll have you coming back for more.. & make those that disnt come jealous! When you just not used to above amazing service and food for a small cost! I give it like 10 WOW's. This type of service makes you want to relocate. When you walk into a place like this & don't hear loud rude talk from across the room, or sorry we don't do this, or don't have that type of service it makes me smile. There is still good people & decent places to eat at in America. * * * * *

First time there and was so impressed! The place is so clean, looks to be remodeled, not sure if it is. The server was super nice and friendly. The food was good quality and was so good! I had the turkey club and hubby had the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. Let me say the bacon on the club was the best I have ever tasted! Oh and the broccoli soup was amazing. We will now be regular customers and can't wait to go back! Keep up the great work Cindy's!!

This is just off the interstate. There was plenty of free on-site parking. It is in the same building as a convenience store and gas station. The area was very clean and roomy. We were seated right away but it took a while to be waited on. I will say the servers are not very friendly. The one we had was not rude but not friendly either. One girl was walking around playing with her hair everywhere she walked and looked angry at the world. When we walked in we asked where the restroom was, she rolled her eyes, pointed out the door and says uh...out by the gas station. The menu is pretty extensive and varied. The food was good, served hot and in a timely manner.

Service was fast & efficient & food was tasty! It was also a friendly setting, not uncomfortable at all!

Always good food and plenty of coffee to refuel on a trek up to Chi town. Cindy's is first stop in the morning for either breakfast or their breakfast/lunch buffet. Thankfully they're open pretty late into the night so we usually catch them on the way home too.

Had the best omelet this morning at Cindy's...we always make it a point to eat there when we're visiting Mendota ..the food and service is always outstanding!

Service was great and the food was better. I had the corned beef hash. I never had them in the manner they were prepared here. Delicious!!!!! I'd eat here ever day! I highly recommend

The all you can eat were good, BUT my under two year old ate a few fries from MY plate, and part of a chicken tender again from MY plate, and was charged $10.99. My daughter mainly ate my aunts cheese quesadillas and fries from her quesadillas order. If we had known beforehand sharing from my plate would have cost $10.99 for her we would have ONLY shared my aunts food with her or ordered her the kids menu item (2 tenders and fries for $8.49) so we could have taken it home. I know all restaurants have different policies, but generally 2 and under and some places even 3 and under at buffets eat free and if they don't then maybe disclose that beforehand. So, heads up to anyone wanting to take their kids here for the all you can eat wings 10 & under includes your 2 & under even if they don't really disclose it. Also, when asked about it while leaving all we were told in response was, "well 10 & under". They also deleted my comment on their Facebook that was advertising the wings that was just a warning for other parents that if they shared with a 2 and under child they would be charged $10 for it. Needless to say from this poor experience my fiancé and I don't have a desire to return to this establishment.

It was a very cold day of traveling when we stumbled upon Cindy's. I ordered the soup of the day Chicken Bowtie to warm me up. It was delicious. The Wisconsin cheese curds were so yummy! My beef Stir Fry was huge - I could only eat half. The portions are big and the food was good!

Service was prompt and efficient. Food portions were generous and delicious. A lovely respite on a long driving day!

This restaurant has been renovated and looks very sleek, but I actually tripped on the floorboards because the new floor is buckling. The server was friendly. The menu hosts a wide variety of options, but both meals were bland and rubbery.

Roast Beef and HOMEMADE mashed potatoes. This place is like being invited to someone's home where everything is made from scratch.

Service is wonderful and the diner food is perfect! I take my grandma here and she loves it. Great for breakfast. Lunch and holidays! Conveniently off the highway and gas station!

Great food and service. It was in an unexpected location, clean and friendly. Easy on and off the highway. They have some delicious desserts, also.

Stopped here to eat, as we filled up gas. Nice clean place with friendly service. Food was great. Turkey breakfast sandwich was the star.

On the one occasion that we tried Cindy's - it was not good. There were items we ordered on the menu that were unavailable. The items we ended up ordering tasted like they were past their sell by date. And the hot items were served cold. Maybe they had an off day, but we do not plan to return.

The food was acceptable. The side salads included watery lettuce. My ravioli was decent, likely from frozen. My husband had the open-faced beef sandwich with gravy, and he did enjoy that. It is a diner-type atmosphere. Busy place at 6:00 on a Friday evening.

Located at the BP gas station, it is conveniently situated next to the Quality inn. Our waitress, Anita, I think, was very friendly. Our breakfast came out quick, and was good, with good portion size. We enjoyed our visit, and would come back, if in the area again.

yummy food, with plenty of options to choose from! Slightly pricey but if you have the money might as well treat yourself to some classic diner style food. The service is good along with a cozy area to enjoy a meal with friends and family. However I normally do takeout!

We happened upon this place when we moved nearby. What an awesome find! Don't be swayed by the location (attached to gas station); this is a great place. The menu is plentiful- lots of appetizers (the cheese curds are delicious), tasty homemade soups, nightly specials, sandwiches, burgers, pastas, chicken, seafood... anything you could be looking for. The homemade Mac n cheese is very good, and adult options with chicken and veggies exist. Service is good, too. We went two nights in a row... it's that good!

People are nice, service is good, food is kind of like "how few vegetables and how much cheese and creamy sauce can we add." (To be fair, there are salads on the menu.) Pretty typical Midwestern comfort food that gives you diabetes when you eat too much of it.

Went for breakfast and they were out of bacon. Not sure exactly how a truck stop, breakfast joint, can be out of bacon, but they were! Food overall was nothing special. Service was subpar too. I'm not rushing back!!

We were looking for a restaurant for a Friday fish fry. This is the place!! All you can eat Walleye was fabulous - we have gone two weeks in a row. So very reasonable - soup or salad, huge amount of fish, potato , vegetable and ice cream. The peppermint and chocolate ice cream are the best. This restaurant is doing everything right!!!!

I had a craving for a good breakfast buffet and thought I would head out here, which is good 40 minute drive for me. I remembered a well kept, cute , clean restaurant with an awesome large spread buffet down the middle of 1/3 of the restaurant with more delicious choices than I could even eat. However, this time was different. The buffet was 1/4 the size and not very good at all. The eggs were so dry and brown looking. The gravy for the biscuits was completely tasteless paste. The pancakes were so cold that the butter I put in them NEVER melted into them. The sausage had taste, but was cold. Honestly, the best part of my meal was the iced tea, served with a big smile by a lovely young waitress. I really was looking forward to this place for breakfast, but felt that I wasted a drive out there. The place is so clean and friendly that I will try it again one day for a lunch or dinner ordered directly from the kitchen.

Typical diner, decent food, nothing extraordinary. I really like their breakfast but I've been disappointed with their dinner. I ordered a smothered chicken, a breast with cheese on top and the breast was dry and lacked flavor. Their salad bar is just ok. I have had a steak sandwich there that was good but everything else was just average. Service is always good and they are very attentive. Recommend them for a yummy breakfast but go elsewhere for dinner.

We decided to try a local restaurant on our passing through. Cindy's had a welcoming entrance and friendly wait staff. We were waited on quickly. The menu had an overabundance of selections.what I liked alot was when I ordered my sandwich which came with fries I wanted to order a side of steamed veggies but some restaurants will charge if you want to substitute. However the waitress automatically offered to to do the steamed veggies instead. Yes! The food was pretty good but the tomatoes were a tad bit hard and the taco salad was too salty. The beef cabage soup was delicious. The salad bar was very limited. However I would definitely encourage others to stop by. The waitress was outstanding, the food came very quickly and the prices were very reasonable.

I stopped through here on January 30th. Definitely need to remember this place. Selected beef & cabbage soup as part of my meal. It was delicious. Ordered the 1/2 fried chicken. It was amazing.!

The food and service was very good. Staff is very friendly. Good reviews and a lot of patrons. I would recommend this place for a great meal.

The 1st Ribeye I ordered for dinner was supposed to be medium and was instead cooked VERY well done I sent it back, you can see the second is in the pics below....I have eaten here before, but I'm gonna pass from now on. The indifferent owner said he would take it off the bill and asked if I'd like another...if you can't get it right after two tries, why would I give you a third try??!?! I never send plates back, but I thought ok yeah this ones prettt well done, so I followed the waitress' advice and sent it back. The cook must have molested the fatty grisly disgusting excuse of a steak... If someone sends a steak back(18.95+tax) why in the hell would you send anything out that was not at least edible. FIRE YOUR FUCKING COOK!! I gave the waitress the 18.95, cause I didn't want a free meal. MANAGEMENT :if you continue to cook this crap, you will not stay in business long. If you cannot get better quality steak from YOUR SUPPLIER,then TAKE IT OFF THE MENU why would you accept this low quality in your steak??? Why not just stick with burgers and fries. Upside Is the green bean with bacon were amazing...service was good as well. So I opted to go to McDonalds for a burger, I'm appalled to say it was a step above this once decent restaurant .

Friendly staff. The menu has many selections. Once our order was placed the server chose to serve us from the opposite side off the table making us reach for our food. Proper serving etiquette would be to place the plate in front of the customer. Our food was served at the proper temperature but lacked seasonings.

Simple but delicious food that's always hot! Great service and a great price! We never miss an opportunity to eat there when traveling.

Hubby and I stopped on our way through. I got the spaghetti and it was great. Hubby got pork tenderloin, it was dry but server quickly replaced it and was very friendly and attentive. The place is very clean and spacious.

Spotlessly clean, very friendly waitstaff and an 8 page menu featuring pasta, seafood, steaks, burgers, salads and on and on. Ordered a patty melt w fries, salads, loaded bake potato and desserts, everything was outstanding and under $20. Our waitress Rylinn was exceptional. Highly recommend. A great find for an expressway stop.

My family ate at Cindy's three times over the course of a trip for a family wedding. The first time, we got carryout for dinner. The food was fine--nothing special, but not bad--but they forgot to give us utensils and the ketchup we requested. The second time, we dined in for breakfast. I would eat there for breakfast again, for sure, or anyway I would order off the breakfast menu. The third time, we dined in for lunch. I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger, which did not have Swiss cheese on it, but some kind of white American cheese. The mushrooms lacked any sort of gravy like you would expect on a mushroom Swiss burger but seemed to have come out of a can. The fries were bland.

Fast friendly pleasant experience. Food quality was great. Coffee was a bit weak. Overall enjoyed experience Will certainly be back when Out to Woodhaven Lakes. It is hidden next to a BP So you would not even expect a Family restaurant to be there. Glad we discovered it.

They weather outside was hot! The temperature inside not much better. The fans in the dining room lead me to believe management doesn't feel the need to lower the temperature inside when it is hot inside. Nothing is homemade. Frozen French fries. Premade chicken strips. That and the lack of air not for me.

Cindy really brought her A game. Everything was delectable. We especially enjoyed the "spiced up" cheese on the horseshoe and the hot and robust cherry pie. We would highly recommend this for a quick trip or a long stop. The service was delightful and it was clean. Hands down, the best gas-station restaurant in Mendota!!

They really set the bar for a wonderful dining experience! Breakfast, Lunch, or dinner you can't go wrong with Cindy's On 34! I ordered the Bourbon Bacon Burger with steak fries, it was amazing! I always try to stop here on my travels.

I'm being generous with the three stars. The salad bar was sad like one review stated. Look. Everything was normal, nothing amazing. Maybe breakfast is the go to thing here but evenings are just so so. I ordered the 12 oz ribeye. They were out. I ordered a baked potato and they were out. I ended getting the old Sysco standby chicken fried steak. Average average. Service was fast but not attentive. She never brought me the Texas toast. Oh well. We were hungry and this filled the bill. It was better than the McDonald's across the street. H

I ordered the prime rib with soup, mashed potatoes and gravy. The prime rib was excellent, probably the best I have ever had. The soup was overly seasoned with salt, as was the gravy. The server seemed to be in a bad mood. She was impatient with my questions and unsmiling. I don't believe I'll ever go back due to the bad experience with the waitress.

If you happen to be at the corner of Hwy 34 and 39 and are looking for a greasy spoon look no further. Actually, there are not many options much further. Inside the BP gas station is a diner. The prices are reasonable. The food is classic American diner. What did I learn today? No many other places to stop for either gas or food.
