This used to be one of my favorite movie theaters in Dallas, but it has steadily declined and no longer meets even basic expectations.
The experience started with the nightmare parking situation. I arrived early and still ended up late to my seat because of how poorly managed and chaotic the parking is. That alone set the tone for the evening.
When I finally reached my seat, I was greeted by a filthy table covered in residue and a service button caked with grime. It was absolutely disgusting. I had to wipe down the entire eating surface, the service button, and even the cup holders myself. Thankfully I brought disinfecting wipes, because it was obvious that proper cleaning between showings is not being done. For a theater that markets itself as “luxury,” cleanliness should be the bare minimum.
The staff did not greet guests or smile when walking past, which added to the unwelcoming atmosphere. When someone finally responded to the service button ten minutes after I pressed it, they were polite, but the service was painfully slow. I ordered two spicy strawberry margaritas, a medium popcorn, wings, and fries. It took 30 minutes for the food to arrive. When I asked for a to go box, I had to ask twice and then waited another 15 minutes or more just for that. That is unacceptable.
And then there is the pricing. $75 with tip for wings, fries, popcorn, and two drinks is outrageous. There is no justification for charging that much for basic concession level food. Pricing like this is exactly why movie theaters are struggling to stay relevant. When you combine inflated costs with declining service and cleanliness, it drives customers away.
To top it off, the parking validation interaction was unpleasant. The employee at the counter was rude and dismissive. There was no courtesy, no thank you, and the interaction felt openly hostile. That kind of attitude leaves a lasting negative impression.
If I had to choose a theater based on this experience, Cinepolis would not be it. There was absolutely nothing luxurious about the visit aside from the prices.
