Pallino Review - SeaTac - Seattle - The Infatuation

"When you’re at SeaTac Airport and about to spend the next three days at a bachelorette party in Palm Springs where the only sustenance will be orange Jell-O shots and Pedialyte, a giant bowl of pasta from Pallino drenched in butter and a mountain of parmesan is a great way to prepare yourself. Don't get your hopes up for a good pizza from this Italian spot (it trends oily and soggy), but their garlic bread works, too." - Kayla Sager-Riley

Google
Our best Italian restaurant experience! Live entertainment, freshly made pasta, and wonderful service. Dawn was our server and was a sweetheart. Crab cakes were delicious. Lasagna was to die for… highly recommend x 100!!

Google
Excellent, friendly and fun dining experience. Waiter had some dry funny humor, food was authentic Italian and yummy— live rat pack music made the night for our friends Birthday. Along with the birthday cannoli and portable revolving light. Highly recommend for an old school Palm Springs Friday night.

Google
The lasagna was absolutely phenomenal, paired perfectly with their exquisite Mezcal Negroni. And let's talk about dessert—the cheesecake was divine! Not to mention, their bread was simply unforgettable. Every bite was a delight!

Google
Marcus & Carina provided amazing service the bar and all their recommendations were spot on. The food and drink were both amazing. Best Lasagna I have had in recent memory. Will be back!

Food was excellent. We were there for the happy hour. We had a charcuterie plate, crab cakes, and lasagna. We sat at the bar where Mika was serving drinks. She’s amazing. Highly recommend.

Google
We were blown away by the food at this unassuming neighborhood restaurant. Apparently the chef also has a restaurant in Tuscany and goes back n forth, and you can tell by the quality of the food. We recently moved to Palm Springs and have been looking for great pizza, and we’re happy to say that this is the best we’ve found. The lasagna was the real thing; delicious!!! Everything was hand made, pasta, desserts, bread; everything. Speaking of desserts, the Basque cheesecake was a knockout. The Negronis were fab and we had a great bottle of Vernaccia which was reasonably priced, as frankly was the entire menu. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. We will be back to try the rest of the menu, but for now we are so excited to have found such a gem in the desert.

Google
First time here. We were a group of four. This is an old fashioned authentic Italian restaurant. Wide selection of upscale and unique dishes as well as the old standbys. We came on a Wednesday and we were disappointed that the server had to come back to the table to let us know that two of the four orders we placed were unavailable. (They are closed Monday and Tuesday). The dishes we did have were excellent and beautifully presented. I had the vichyissoise as an appetizer which was delicious. They make all their pasta in-house. The Osso Buco was enough to share and beautiful. Onsite parking is easy. You are sure to find something that speaks to you.

Google
BEST Italian in Palm Springs - All Pasta homemade and fresh burrata. Everything we had - salad, pasta, pizza, dessert was all super fresh and delicious. Wish I thought to take more photos, but we ate it so fast, haha. Will be back!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing experience. We had a server named Marcus, he went above and beyond to make our experience extra memorable. We were visiting a family member who is local to Palm Springs and were so happy we did. We took his recommendations and the fresh made pasta was to die for.

Yelp
2nd visit. Reservations at 7, not seated until almost 7:15. Slow service all around, especially when entrees did not arrive until just before 8. Refills in beverages also lacking, especially with food taking so long. Music was way too loud. Seriously difficult to have conversation. Food was indeed very good, and priced as expected. But if service and atmosphere are going to be so weak, then returning here is not certain.

Yelp
Looking forward to my next visit already. The Caesar and focaccia appetizer were delicious and I've been dreaming of them since. My boyfriend had the risotto which I really liked. I ordered the shrimp pesto pasta but I would try something new next time. The server was really helpful and they were really accommodating with our last minute reservation and seating. The art hanging is really lovely and the atmosphere is comfortable and not pretentious.

Yelp
What a wonderful evening! Sat in the bar and listened to the lovely music by Saigo. Server was great at describing and recommending menu items. We ordered some appetizers, a pizza, and a couple desserts- everything was excellent as were the cocktails! This place is a gem and can't wait to return to try the entrees.

Dan M.

Yelp
Had such high hopes... Complete fail. Four of the entrees on the menu were no longer available.... a pork dish, lasagna, eggplant parmesan and a shrimp dish.. okay, I'll have bread and butter? Got a shrimp/pesto dish... omg, the shrimp were tiny... ridiculously tiny and tough... pesto had no flavor.. i had three bites and stopped... I wish them the best of luck.. but not returning... ever.

Yelp
Recently went here with a party of five and had a perfect dining experience from start to finish. Marcus, our server was attentive to every detail from amazing cocktails to sumptuous entrées. Two people in our party had the duck, which was delicious and cooked to perfection . The calamari appetizer was very good as well... The icing on the cake was their dining room being dog friendly!! Since I'm a local resident , I'll be a regular diner here! Highly recommended!

Yelp
BE SURE TO CHECK THIS PLACE OUT! If there is a place that could treat you like family. it's here. every moment we were there felt like we were being asked by a family member to be served. They treated us fairly. There was delicious meals and we had an incredible time. Christian and the rest of the staff were incredible. We had espresso martinis made by Christian and they were amazing and we had such a great time for both my friends and my girlfriend birthdays. we will definitely be back

Yelp
Maybe it was an off night or their chef called in sick but the food was truly awful. I have never had such bad food. I ordered chicken Marsala and it tasted like Chinese Chicken Lomien from The frozen food dept of Ralph's. There was not a trace of Marsala or a trace of mushrooms or a trace of garlic or a trace of olive oil or a trace of tomsto paste. It was like ramen noodles noodles mixed with chicken strips cooked in vegetable oil. Our waiter was as nice as can be and the focaccia was very good and the Burata and peach salad was good but the Marsala was unedible and the Pasta Ragu tasted like Hungarian Gulash. I hope the chef balled in sick and the dishwasher filled in for him.

J B.

Yelp
Nice family run place with great ambiance. Good Caesar salad with fresh anchovies, fresh bread, and great pizza. Huge piece of cheesecake for desert. Everything seemed made from scratch.

David M.

Yelp
My new favorite Italian restaurant in Palm Springs. Everything was so delicious. Everything was homemade from the pasta, bread to the cheesecake and you could definitely tell the difference. The service was also really good and the ambiance was great as well. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
If I could do 3.5 stars that's probably the score here. Great to have a new spot in town. We were excited to try their scratch made pizza, and pasta dishes. The bread was great, served with olive oil and balsamic which I love. Cocktails were nice but they don't stock a lot of higher end spirits (Belvedere or woodford). Service was ok, ambiance just ok. I wish they had music or something that was missing that makes a place feel happy and happening. Fairly crowded early on a Wednesday night. We tried ceasar salad, poached pear salad - which had only a scant few tiny slivered pears, pesto ravioli to share - a bit too sauced to taste the pasta, & crab cakes too much aioli, meh, pizza was tasty but not served as hot as it should be imo. Pretty good, although somewhat pricey for the overall experience.

Yelp
Best Italian food and service in Palm Springs! Dawn and Terrence are two of the finest and most friendly servers we've ever encountered. Our compliments to the chef--never had one item on the menu that wasn't superb. Truly one of Palm Speings finest!

Yelp
So excited to have this new restaurant so close to our home. When I saw that the overall review was lower that expected, I noticed that many of the reviews were from 2009, 2010 and 2011 for a completely different restaurant. YELP, get your act together!!! This is a brand new and wonderful restaurant!!! I started with a lovely glass of Prosecco and my husband had a Barbara (I do think the wines were a bit pricey). We shared these light and delicious crab cakes with home made focaccia. I had the veggies over polenta which was amazing and Doug had chicken marsala with homemade pasta. Everything was delicious. We will be coming back here a lot!!!

Yelp
The first week after their soft opening, we had the chance to visit Cipolline. I have to say there were a few bumps in service as the staff was trying to find their rhythm. We recently returned, and the service was great! The space itself is very welcoming and the staff is charming and friendly. They have a solid selection of food... their pasta and pizza dough is made in-house and you can certainly taste the freshness. Their bar selection is innovative... and the drinks were superb! If you had a less than perfect experience in the early days - give Cipolline Osteria another chance. You will be glad you did!
google avatar

Yelp
As someone eagerly anticipating the reopening of Cippoline Osteria after its prolonged closure for renovations, I couldn't wait to partake of their renowned fresh, homemade pasta. Despite the premise of quality ingredients and in-house preparation, the dish fell short in terms of flavor and seasoning. Each bite lacked the vibrant taste I had hoped for, leaving me exceedingly underwhelmed. Given the anticipation and high expectations, I must admit I was deeply disappointed and probably will never be back,

Yelp
We were looking forward to finally trying this place. It's walking distance from our house. We had a group of 4 people. The service and ambiance were good. But the food not so much. The calamari appetizer was very good. But no one was happy with their entries. One of us ordered a pizza and it looked good. I ordered the chicken Marsala. It was tasteless, and zero flavor of any Marsala. It tasted like a simple chicken Alfredo. So sad. We won't be going back.

Yelp
Wonderful new addition to South Palm Springs. I live a month each year in Italy, and it is clear that Chef James and owners are committed to creating an authentic Italian dining experience with everything made in house: warm bread with garlic-infused butter, freshly rolled pasta, Neapolitan pizzas (OO flour long fermented dough), dedicated pizza oven, and desserts that go beyond and above. Our server, Dawn, was excellent -- pleasant, knowledgeable and genuinely cared that we received a top-tier dining experience. The head chef, James, checked in personally with our table to make sure we were enjoying our menu choices. The selections are varied and unique, including several plant-based and vegan options. The ambiance is warm and inviting. Think old world charm of an Italian Osteria. There are outdoor tables and some inside comfortable, cushy booths. Larger indoor round tables for groups too. Tables for two at the window overlooking San Jacinto mountains. The texture of the calamari appetizer reminded me of Nobu's delicious Rock Shrimp tempura, only here made with calamari. Definitely a must-try and big enough to share. We enjoyed the house-made tagliatelle, also delicious. Dessert: A-mazing. I devoured the Dark Chocolate Budino (Italian custard/pudding) enhanced by a wine infusion, a mixed-berry compote topped with an espresso whipped cream. This could arguably be the best dessert I've had in the desert. Definitely one-of-a-kind. Looking forward next time to trying their cannoli and Disarrono (amaretto) tiramisù. There are a few Italian-American dishes on the menu; however, I recommend being adventurous and stick with the authentic Italian fare. It's clear the owner, chef and staff truly care and take pride in the food and quality they are serving. The only one suggestion I would make to add to the overall experience, would be to offer a complimentary sip of limoncello or vin santo at the end of the meal. It's a special touch often found in family-run businesses in Italy. Bravi a tutti!

Yelp
There is something to say about the joy of finding out that a great new place opened just a couple blocks from our house. We tried Cipolline tonight, and absolutely loved it. Food and service were great. A special mention for the excellent calamari appetizer, one of the best I ever tasted. 5 stars.
google avatar

Yelp
Definitely the BEST Italian Restaurant in PS! I chose Cipolline tonight for our 27th anniversary dinner. The wine was perfect. The food was incredible! The service we received from Terrance and the rest of the staff was first rate. We ordered the meatball and polenta for an appetizer which my husband said tasted just like his Italian grandmother's meatball. I had the chicken parmesan as an entree with broccolini which was quite memorable and he had the prime rib which was VERY tasty. The Chef came out from the kitchen when Terrance told him how much we enjoyed the meatball. The atmosphere was awesome, and to top it off, we got to listen to Samira Joy (who we're seeing next month) as we enjoyed our meal. It was the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you!

Yelp
Great pizza (crust, toppings, cheese) and daily specials (veal milanese). Attentive and cordial service. Go-to when craving pizza dine-in or takeout.
google avatar

Todd J.

Yelp
No need to take a picture of the tagliatelle since everyone else has but my God the food is good!

Brad S.

Yelp
Service was amazing. And the food was delicious. Would recommend. Hope this place stays open for many years.

Yelp
We were happy to see a new restaurant fill this location and what a great place it is! Owned by the family who started and own El Mirasol, they've knocked this one out of the park! Starting with a superb Manhattan, everything was delicious from the Caesar Kale salad (yes, really) to my Ragu and my husband's pizza. And we topped it off with the cannelloni, which was outstanding! You won't be disappointed. And ask for Marcus, he's the best!
google avatar

Cindy C.

Yelp
Outstanding food and service! Will definitely go back! Bread wax out of this world! Fabulous wait staff and food!

Yelp
Having read some good reviews and driving by the restaurant, we decided to try them. Glad we did! First you are greeted by a very friendly young woman Karina; Her family owns this place. (which has been open just 6 weeks). Her Mother & Father opened the El Mirasol restaurants. https://www.palmspringslife.com/el-mirasol-palm-springs/ We were seated at an indoor table, and ordered from our attentive waiter Terrance. He asked us about our evening to see if we were leisurely dining or if we needed to eat and run. We told him we were in no hurry. We are not drinkers of alcohol too much so we ordered a Coke and Iced tea and a Neopolitan pizza with fresh mozzarella, mushrooms and oregano for an appetizer. We ordered Tagliatelle al Ragu and a Shrimp Scampi with pasta for our entrees. I ordered Pasta Fagioli soup, and my hubby a Caesar Salad with blue cheese dressing. The soup was very thick with tons of veggies, beans & pasta. Yumm! We also were given warm fresh made bread with garlic seasoned butter. It was so tasty! The main courses came out delivered by the Chef, and both of us loved them! The interior is warm & cozy, recently remodeled, lots of stone, artwork, fresh flowers and candles on the tables. For sure we will return!

Yelp
Have been here multiple times over the last few months. This includes from parties of two to about 20. Yes, 20. The owner and staff are always so nice, fun. A pleasant surprise all around since randomly going in, in June. All the food has been great too. And, the martinis!

Karen K.

Yelp
2 stars for a nice place to catch up with friends and have a conversation prior to the MUCH TOO LOUD live music. The freshly made ravioli was tough, and the cheese that was supposed to fill it was dry. My lentil soup had more spinach and kale than lentils or soup. And the bartender, without me asking, ordered a second $15 drink for me. (RAISING UP THE TAB) If it weren't for the $250+ tab for 4 of us that went there for happy hour, I might give it a slightly better rating. Still WAY TO PRICEY AND PUSHY ON THE UPSELL to return.

Yelp
Hello Palm Springs! My name is James Hardenburg, or as most know me Chef James. I'm the head chef at cipolline osteria at 1260 south palm canyon drive in Palm Springs, California. My team and I have been developing recipes to give you a truly authentic Italian dining experience! please stop in and enjoy a delicious dinner! open wednesdays through sundays!

Cole B.

Yelp
The pasta's flavor and texture is like ramen noodles. You can not serve a chicken tender and call it scallopini. It is supposed to be thinly cut breast. The sauce was watery. I also pulled out a 3 foot hair out of my chest. The chicken marsala had 4 mushrooms and watery sauce as well. Also, take the carpet out of the dining room. I hate leaving negative reviews but it was that bad. Great service though!

Alexis G.

Yelp
Our server Terrence was very professional and served us well! The food is great and honestly the best Italian food i've had in forever! Also the tiramisu for dessert was amazing and i'm so happy I stopped here for date night

Yelp
I got to try the brand new Cipolline Osteria in south Palm Springs. Only been open for 4 days. Was warmly greeted by the host and ate at the bar. I tried the ragu pasta and it was delicious! All the staff and the owner's daughter were delightful to chat with! So happy to see that they are open! Give them a try.

Olivia E.

Yelp
So good we went back for a second time in the same week! We had the Four cheese pizza and the meatballs with polenta. Delicious! We've already recommend the place to all of our friends.
google avatar

Dean S.

Yelp
Service was pleasant, but the drinks took quite a long time for a half filled establishment. The food service was strange. Some entrees were absolutely huge, others looked like appetizers. Two of us ordered the special chicken parm with pasta. It was very dry so we asked for extra marinara sauce. They promptly brought out extra marinara sauce and I poured it over my pasta and chicken, unfortunately, the sauce was ice cold. Not room temperature, but it actually tasted like it was taken out of the fridge. We brought it to the attention of the server and they promptly took it back to the kitchen. But it seemed as thought they just poured hot marinara over the cold food. When my dish was brought back out, two of our party of 8 had already finished their appetizer sized entrees. The cheese on my chicken parm was cold and hard while the marinara was hot. I just couldn't eat anymore, it was too late, not hot and half the table was close to finishing their meal. At least they removed our meals from the bill and gave us free dessert (which was not good either).

Philip K.

Yelp
The food was excellent. I had the ravioli which had an excellent cream sauce. The all meat pizza was one of the best in Palm Springs. The crust was baked just right with the crispiness. Service was also very good.
google avatar

D K.

Yelp
Unfortunately the most pathetic Italian restaurant I've been to. Just avoid. The food is tasteless and takes longer to "cook" than it ought to.

Lisa L.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! Staff were exceptional, food was delicious and ambiance was great. Chef James made a point to introduce himself and chat with my husband and I. We had the fried polenta (might have been a special), Margherita pizza, lemon risotto and tagliatelle ragú! All were amazing! Only took pic of pizza because was too busy enjoying my meal to think about other pics. And bartender Christian made very tasty spirits! We definitely want them to succeed so I would highly recommend venturing over to the south end to try them out!
google avatar

Yelp
Sweet neighborhood Italian bistro with several creative and tasty VEGAN options (thanks!!!)
google avatar

Michele T.

Yelp
My party of 4 dined here on a Sunday evening. so happy to see that this new restaurant was full! We were there for the multitude of plant based options on their menu and we were not disappointed! I had the plant based risotto, which I loved, and my husband had the polenta dish that he also enjoyed. our Omni friends enjoyed their dishes as well. so glad to have another local restaurant where vegans can go for a nice dinner.
google avatar

James P.

Yelp
We had a good time and the pizza was excellent. Checked the bill and there was a 36.00 that made no sense. Pointed it out to the waiter and he went to the hostess who is the owner and apparently there was a computer "glitch". They removed the amount but she never came over to apologize. Wonder how many other people were overcharged and paid it. Always check your bill. I will go back but I will make sure to review the charges.

Mark H.

Yelp
The food is very good and a good value. Our party of four all enjoyed our selection. The service could be improved, which hopefully will happen in time. Our server did not know the specials very well. One special was surf and turf and she did not know the cut of steak nor the turf, she said shrimp but was in doubt. The ambience could also be improved. You walk into the main dining area and you think you are in a hotel ballroom for an event. It is all big round six or eight top tables. The next time we dine here it will either be a party of two or a party larger than four. Seating for four is all banquette and not very comfortable. Not sure if they were from the previous restaurant. The tables were too high as well, we wanted to request booster seats. Additionally dimmer switches are needed, the lighting was too bright.

Bob R.

Yelp
I liked this place...so glad it opened in our neighborhood Service was great Warm welcome from hostess...explained the menu Had to take food home because the portions were plentiful This note has nothing to do with the restaurant but the neighborhood Looking at the run down motels along this stretch makes me hopeful that other businesses in our neighborhood will clean up this stretch and open something as charming as Cipolline Osteria!

Marilyn R.

Yelp
Well, 3 of the 4 of us did not care for Cipolline Oesteria. What a huge disappointment. Two of us got the eggplant polenta with veggies. The polenta was the consistency of oatmeal. 3 teeny tiny pieces of eggplant and the whole thing was flavorless. When I complained about the eggplant- I told them I had been looking forward to it for 2 weeks since I made the reservations. I should have known when she put the plate in front of me and said veggies over polenta. I said, "And eggplant too, right?" She mumbled yeah. They offered to bring more on the side. It was a ramekin with the most pathetic unappealing eggplant I've ever seen (I had to smell it to make sure it wasn't pork pieces - looked like it to me - see photo). I never salt my food but had to with this. I still barely ate 1/3rd of it. Oh, no mushrooms either despite it also being in the description of the entree. See photo. What is so weird is that they brought me extra eggplant and my friend's risotto had mushrooms in it so clearly they had these items on hand. They were just being stingy about it. My friend who also got the eggplant polenta also didn't finish hers either and had the same complaints. Funny part? The server and host said they were going to change the menu entry to put eggplant at the end of the sentence since it's not the feature of the entree! Ok, that's useful to me at the moment. My other friend ordered the lemon risotto. She thought it lacked flavor too and we were surprised at the small amount she got. Look at the photo - there is barely enough to cover the bottom of the dish. The last friend got the Lenticcia salad and he liked it but his wife also tried some and she ended up asking for the salt again!! Oh, we wanted pepper too but no pepper at the table. The service was nice about the whole thing but not much they can do when the kitchen is the problem. I don't complain often about prices but $20 for a glass of Chardonnay and you only offer one brand so you're stuck paying that then $26 for polenta and veggies, with tax it was $50.25 just for me and add a (nice) tip, it was over $60. The best part? The awesome company! We always have fun and share some good laughs! We won't be visiting CO any time soon.

Stephen J.

Yelp
What a wonderful addition to Palm Springs. Only open a few days. Excellent food, amazing staff. Our server Paulina was delightful. Clean well appointed restaurant. Tablecloth, flowers, candles. Can't say enough good things!

Eric U.

Yelp
I really wish I could put a glowing review here, since Cippoline is relatively new, but I wouldn't be honest if I did. I was there with a group of 7 people, so I understand that most restaurants would have a difficult time with large parties. But most of the evening was inexcusable. Cocktails arrived 45 minutes after being seated. My Osso Bucco was tasty but was at room temperature. Pasta portions are small. Took over 2 hours and 30 minutes for dinner. The server did her best to make up for the problems, and maybe I'll try again after they get their stuff together. But this evening was disappointing.

J B.

Yelp
Nice addition to Palm Springs! The service was great from the warm welcome to the wait staff. We had a nice table by the window and appreciate that the noise level is low and you can have a conversation. The complimentary bread was fantastic. They said they make their pasta, bread, and pizza dough fresh in house and it was obvious. For Palm Springs, their martinis were very reasonably priced. The calamari appetizer was nice and perfect for two. The steak special was nice with a wonderfully decadent Gorgonzola sauce. The pizza was a nice accompaniment and pretty authentic. Overall, a very nice experience.

Lulu P.

Yelp
Great new restaurant. Really good food and excellent service. Only suggestion is to change the water in the flowers on the tables daily!

Mark L.

Yelp
Great addition to Palm Springs dining. I had the 3 olives pizza and friends had the chicken cacciatore and calzone. All were great. We'll definitely be back!

Arctic F.

Yelp
Our usual haunts were packed, so my hubby and I decided to give Cipolline a try. The drinks were solid, the calamari was among the very best we've ever had, and our entrees were fantastic other than my pizza being v salty. Still ate it though, and dipping my pizza crust in my hubby's pasta sauce was a perfect bite. We'll be back asap.

Ken M.

Yelp
The food quality and taste were not what we were hoping to find. Tough veal and bland / mushy tagliatelle ragu were delivered, however there was some nice looking pizza served to tables nearby. The ambience is odd given the types of seating available- hopefully they will rectify this going forward.
