Yelp
Wonderful new addition to South Palm Springs. I live a month each year in Italy, and it is clear that Chef James and owners are committed to creating an authentic Italian dining experience with everything made in house: warm bread with garlic-infused butter, freshly rolled pasta, Neapolitan pizzas (OO flour long fermented dough), dedicated pizza oven, and desserts that go beyond and above.
Our server, Dawn, was excellent -- pleasant, knowledgeable and genuinely cared that we received a top-tier dining experience. The head chef, James, checked in personally with our table to make sure we were enjoying our menu choices. The selections are varied and unique, including several plant-based and vegan options.
The ambiance is warm and inviting. Think old world charm of an Italian Osteria. There are outdoor tables and some inside comfortable, cushy booths. Larger indoor round tables for groups too. Tables for two at the window overlooking San Jacinto mountains.
The texture of the calamari appetizer reminded me of Nobu's delicious Rock Shrimp tempura, only here made with calamari. Definitely a must-try and big enough to share. We enjoyed the house-made tagliatelle, also delicious.
Dessert: A-mazing. I devoured
the Dark Chocolate Budino (Italian custard/pudding) enhanced by a wine infusion, a mixed-berry compote topped with an espresso whipped cream. This could arguably be the best dessert I've had in the desert. Definitely one-of-a-kind. Looking forward next time to trying their cannoli and Disarrono (amaretto) tiramisù.
There are a few Italian-American dishes on the menu; however, I recommend being adventurous and stick with the authentic Italian fare.
It's clear the owner, chef and staff truly care and take pride in the food and quality they are serving.
The only one suggestion I would make to add to the overall experience, would be to offer a complimentary sip of limoncello or vin santo at the end of the meal. It's a special touch often found in family-run businesses in Italy.
Bravi a tutti!
