Had lunch here recently with a friend and had a great meal. The staff were amazingly friendly and provided a great recommendation to try the seafood chowder. One of the best chowders I’ve had and also really enjoyed their poke bowl. Located with a nice view of the harbor as well. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.

Google
Food was absolutely delicious! We had the lobster 🦞 roll (hot) with Asian slaw and the poke bowl. The Asian slaw was dressed with a ginger dressing and so refreshing! The poke bowl was delicious and fresh as was the lobster. We can’t wait to return! Service was also excellent!

Google
Place has a nice view of the ocean/ seating was plentiful. Customer service was normal, nothing extraordinary. Stand in line, order food and they bring it out to you: I ordered an ultimate fry and a beer and it was 40$ with tip: Eating at the marina was nice on a hot day because of the ocean breeze. The ultimate fries was good, but with a nice cool beer, even better. Food did not disappoint.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at an amazing marina restaurant, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I sat down. I was greeted with stunning views of the glistening water and sailboats gently swaying in the breeze. The ambiance was nothing short of magical, and a relaxed, yet elegant, atmosphere. The restaurant had a spacious outdoor dining area, allowing guests to dine al fresco and soak up the picturesque surroundings. The menu boasted an impressive selection of fresh seafood dishes that were expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. From succulent lobster rolls to tasteful lobster bisque , every bite was a true delight for the senses. Overall, my experience at this restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. Between the breathtaking views, delectable cuisine, and top-notch service, it is a dining destination that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for great food and a view!

Google
My GF & I wanted some fish&chips so we decided to try this place. I ordered 1-F&C-1 lobster bisque & Onion Rings. The fish was just ok, lobster Bisque was warm not hot & just ok. The Onion rings were good. We share because we’re not big eaters. Plus a beer & a beverage. Cost $65 plus tip & $20 for parking. Ouch not worth it. Nice atmosphere outdoors

Google
Good place to enjoy a glass of white wine or beer with some seafoods. I had a poke bowl and my wife had a lobster roll; both were great in taste and value. It's right in front of the boats parked, so I do not need to describe how the view is great.

Sue Lee

Google
We love their shrimp and chips! The best lobster bisque we ever had, you found chunks of lobster in the soup and it's super yummy. Very friedly service and we enjoyed the food and the view. A great casual place to visit in a beautiful evening.

This is my favorite spot to eat at the marina the food is grate, the service is fast, there staff are cool people to chit chat with while having lunch and a beer

Yelp
Circle Hook is a great casual seafood spot right in Lido Marina Village right on the waterfront. I recently came here with one other person for drinks and snacks. We didn't expect to come here but liked the chill vibe and decided to stay after checking out their menu. They had seafood items such as chowder, crudo, and lobster rolls. We shared some of their calamari and got some wines. All of their fried items are battered here instead of breaded so it's a little different. I thought I wouldn't like it but ending up really enjoying it. For drinks they have beers and wines. The people behind the counter are really nice. You order at the register and they give you a number to bring food out to you. I liked that they checked on us a few times and even cleared out plates after we finished our food and was still drinking. We like to sit outside on the waterfront for the view. It's such a great place to get away. It's worth checking out if you can snag parking.

Yelp
Checked out the seafood options at the various restaurants along the water and settled on Circle Hook. They had the most variety in catch of the day selections. After consulting with the very friendly, upbeat and polite employee about recommendations, settled on the blue fin tuna, though the halibut came in a close second. Sat at a table by the water for the nice, relaxing view on a gorgeous sunny day. When the food arrived, it was very good. The tuna was fresh and flavorful, the garlic fries had just the right crisp and garlic, and the herb roasted vegetables complimented everything well. Worth checking out on every visit to Lido. If none of the other seafood options at neighboring restaurants are enticing, you're sure to find something among the variety of fresh seafood at Circle Hook

Warren C.

Yelp
Quite a nice find in the Lido. Felt like I was ordering at an upscale dive bar, but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Seafood chowder was delicious. Seared ahi salad was slightly overdressed. Beer choices were pretty good. Ate outside on the tables next to the marina - a great view that you don't have to pay an excessive amount for. Service was very friendly - I love that it wasn't obnoxious or over the top, especially for Newport Beach. Would definitely visit here again.

Ana M.

Yelp
You want fresh sea food with real bay vibe? This is your place. Good wine, tasty fresh fish and outstanding sunset view! We got followings: Fish taco Seafood chowder Grilled Fish of the day ( Halibut) with side of cilantro rice and green salad All very tasty and the portion is small and enough. You feel great after eating this meal. We ordered and got our food in 5 min, great service and lovely ambiance.

H B.

Yelp
Delicious lobster rolls. Excellent to-go option if you're taking a ride on a Duffy boat in Balboa harbor.

Danica C.

Yelp
This spot has been on my list for a while and I'm so happy I was able to get over there recently. We went on a Friday night, it wasn't very busy but it made it even more enjoyable and relaxing. The staff was SO NICE and sweet and attentive. We ordered a bottle of wine and I ordered the fish and chips to eat. Honestly one of the best fish and chips I've had. We sat outside and it overlooked the harbor and the boats. They play really good music too. It was a really nice evening and I definitely will be back!

Jim A.

Yelp
We stopped at Circle hook because my friend loves their beer. While we were their I had a large bowl of their clam chowder. To be honest I thought it was overpriced but then you are really paying for the view. We sat at a table overlooking the harbor and a beautiful way to spend the afternoon. So the view is outstanding. The clam chowder on the other hand is just ok. It really is nothing special and did not, in my mind stand out. I would normally give the clam chowder 3 stars but upped it to 4 stars because of the fabulous view.

Lisa H.

Yelp
Food was great- the staff was kinda rude-no smiles, no feedback. Got overcharged, twice with no apologies. Server was robotic and annoyed. The over charging wasn't even making sense, each time I went back to explain it to be fixed- it was a blank stare. Hold on to tipping until the end of your meal- that's how "taken" I felt. Not "good on the water juju." It's weird, it looks like it's going to be an awesome experience but maybe the vibe was off. I always stay positive through the end of a meal as you just never know. The ambiance on the water, outside and people watching is nice but it didn't get better. It was okay but perhaps, go elsewhere unless you really are craving fish & chips or fish tacos. Was getting a quick bite- just got fish and chips didn't expect all the sides of drama. Not relaxing.

Sara J.

Yelp
Delicious and casual We've been back for the lobster bisque quite a few times. Great service and great views

Haley W.

Yelp
I love coming here to sit on the water and have a glass of wine. That part is always 5 stars. But the food was definitely closer to 3 stars. The lobster roll just lacks flavor. I enjoyed the bread and the fries. But it just felt like something was missing

Jax L.

Yelp
Randomly found this place while waiting for our reservations. Excellent oysters, mock tails, and service. The grapefruit and ginger was an excellent oyster chaser. There are 4 high tops and bar seatings. Next time, I'll come back for their chowder and poke bowl.

Tommy N.

Yelp
This place is an easy order-at-the-counter type of place. Take any table that's available outside and enjoy the view of the Newport Beach dock with yachts and boats. I ordered salmon crudo, crab cakes, and shrimp cocktails for appetizers. All the appetizers were flavorful and yummy. For entree, I had seared tuna with two choices of sides: cilantro rice and grilled vegetables. The dish was also tasty. Overall, quality of seafood was fresh. Just keep in mind this is just an eatery where you order and take a number so don't have high expectations. Dishes are simple but tasty. Service was very nice and attentive and orders came out quick. Price is also reasonable. I will come back again.

Michelle B.

Yelp
My go-to spot for seafood when I'm in the Newport Beach area! My favorite items are their poke bowls and fish tacos. The bowls have a generous portion of fresh fish and other ingredients including white rice, crab meat, avocado, cucumber, edamame, and carrots. The one downside is the customer service. The staff appears to lack any emotion or desire to engage with customers. Pro tip: order online to have minimal in-person contact with staff.

Vasudha R.

Yelp
Loved the food here; it's a great option for takeout if you will be boating in Newport Harbor. 10/10: Fish of the day Banh Mi Sandwich- The salmon was juicy and fresh! I loved the sweet sauce on the banh mi. There were plenty of fish options to choose from including swordfish, salmon, or ahi tuna. The price was around $24 and included fries. 8/10: Fish & chips- large pieces of fish and well seasoned. 8/10: Grilled chicken sandwich- a little dry but otherwise good. A great portion size if you're hungry. 7/10: Poke bowl- not customizable and only had a few toppings, so I would not get it again.

Yelp
Came here in a group of 5 this past weekend and were so excited to try their food as we had always passed by restaurant when at Lido. Our experience was not the best. We ordered our food at the front and the guy who took our order forget one of our entrees. Everyones food came out so we checked on our last plate and the same guy said " it is coming out!." It still didn't come out so I went to go check on it and someone else said the order never got put in! Well, wouldn't you check if someone asks about their entree and it was never delivered without saying it was coming. Even after that another girl had told us it was coming and the other worker told her it was never put in. We ended up getting the entree after everyone else was done eating. We had also brought a bottle of wine and asked for corkage and the front desk workers were looking at each other confused. The guy at the register looked at me and said " so you want wine?" I said we brought a bottle if you want to charge me for a corkage fee and looked confused. He did charge me but didn't give me glasses or offer to cork my bottle until I asked. Also, we wanted to order oysters but they only had two left so go early if you want them. I would recommend getting their fish tacos if you do come here. That is what they are known for. They said they can't make the fish grilled but they can substitute it for shrimp. I got the salmon with veggies and thought the salmon was a little too dry. Probably won't be back due to the terrible customer service and the experience we had.

Yelp
Circle Hook is a great place to get some seafood in the Lido Marina Village area. They have one of the best lobster rolls in the area, which includes a generous portion of lobster; their soup is fantastic as well. They have have a great atmosphere - they offer indoor seating in addition to seating right on the dock, which overlooks the marina and bay. The service is friendly and quick. We arrived around 11:00 AM on a Saturday; we got great seating, and our food came out less than 10 minutes after ordering.

Wendy K.

Yelp
Incredible seafood. The fish burger is the best fish sandwich I've ever had. It's so savory and juicy. The bluefin crudo was melt in your mouth perfection and the lobster bisque had nice chunks of perfectly tender lobster meat. We'll be going a second time during our stay. Update: we came back! I will say the fish burger was smaller in terms of the filet size, less salty in terms of how the fish was seasoned - ultimately still delicious, but it's worth 4 stars this time around. Basically expect for this dish to sometimes be totally great and worth the price & other times it might blow your mind.

Austin H.

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Circle Hook and was blown away by the quality of their dishes. The oysters platter is an absolute standout and a must-try for any seafood lover. The oysters were fresh and briny, and were perfectly paired with the restaurant's house-made mignonette sauce. It was truly a delightful and decadent dish. I loved this dish so much I forgot to take a picture before I ate it. Ha. The fish and chips at Circle Hook are also a must-try. The fish was flaky and tender, and the batter was light and crispy, giving the dish a satisfying crunch. The accompanying tartar sauce was tangy and flavorful, but the portion size could be a bit better for $20.

Yelp
We were looking for a lunch spot in New Port and decided to try this place. It's a very casual place with lots of seating outside. My husband got a poki bowl and I ordered tataki. Poki bowl was good but it was a bit hard to eat in the bowl they served. Also was very little crab meat and didn't have seaweeds which is a must in poke bowl in my opinion. My tataki was seared perfect, and liked the shishito but felt like it was missing something. Think cucumber or seaweeds or something would be nice add with rice. The seafood chowder was very delicious, would order that again. Had old chunk of lobsters and fish. Overall the food was good but nothing memorable. It was also a bit pricy but I would say that's because of the location.

Brittany C.

Yelp
Nice place to eat outside and watch the water and boats. Parked in the marina parking structure and walked over. The service was quick and easy, you order at the register and take a number and sit. Lobster bisque was favored over the seafood chowder but both were solid choices to re order in the future and can't go wrong with either! Nice view outside looking at the water. There is some indoor seating as well.

Norma M.

Yelp
Have not visited here in a while. But during our staycation last Thursday - we decided to come here for late lunch. Sad to report, the quality of food has gone down quite a bit. The calamari fries I used to love so much, was just meh. It was chewy, not the flat calamari steak slide into thin strips that they used to serve and the breading wasn't the same as I used to remember. The fish taco with cilantro rice was somewhat decent but again, comparing to the experience I had here in the past - it was such a letdown this last time.

Jessica W.

Yelp

Don M.

Yelp
Absolutely the best Seafood. The fish and chips are the freshest we ever had. Come from the IE just for that!

Rilyn M.

Yelp
I come here alllll the time, whenever I can really! Their fish burger is my most favorite dish, made with whatever the fresh fish options are that day. I was open to something different today when I saw a chef special of swordfish with mussels and lemon caper butter with some roasted veggies. Everything was great, the swordfish especially was amazing. I love bringing friends here as it is always a delicious experience.

Elisa G.

Yelp
I was starving yesterday and stopped in here for a bite. I waited in line and ordered shrimp aguachile and sat at the bar and ate 1/2 then took the rest to go. It was perfect and not too spicy! I recommend even though it's pricy.

Charis R.

Yelp
Came here with a group of six (and a pup) for dinner on 4/3/23 at 6pm (for manager's reference). It was a cold and windy weeknight and it wasn't very busy anywhere around. Though typically this is an 'order at the counter' style place, the employees here pulled out all the stops to welcome us in, ensuring we had an exceptional experience. They even offered us full service dining which was unexpected, but made our time so much more enjoyable, since our group hadn't seen each other in some time and it was nice gathering together around the table while we looked over a menu and were helped as we needed. I was blown away at the consideration and kindness of the crew. Even our out of town relative was stunned at how the staff went above and beyond. I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone there tonight. p.s. shishito peppers, fish and chips and lobster roll were excellent!

Carmen L.

Yelp
This place is casual but with a nice view of the NB harbor. We ordered some poke bowls, a shrimp ceviche (my husband doesn't usually eat shrimps, but he said it's good) and a seafood chowder and some drinks! The poke was good (I hope they also provide a brown rice option), seafood chowder was tasty with seafood chunks inside! It's a casual eatery but the severs kept checking on us and making sure everything was good! They have both indoor and outdoor seatings; it's great for casual day dates, small friend meet up or a quick drinks with friends! They have parking lot and structure for parking.

Karalynn N.

Yelp
Stumbled on this cute walkway of small restaurants in Newport. A girlfriend and I had a Friday evening free, and said why not to a bottle of wine and a quick bite. The server was friendly and helpful. We had a bottle of their pinot grigio. Which was perfect alongside the dock area, while watching boats go by. We also split the fish tacos, which were tender crispy, fresh veggies and flavorful sauce. With a squeeze of the grilled lemon is great! The coconut curry clams and muscles were really goood. The hint of flavor had hit home to me. The spice and taste was on point to a vietnamese /thai curry. I never would have thought for this flavor dish, to be seafood style. A different take on coconut curry, the bread was also a nice touch. It brought me back to my family style dish, but with a twist.

Tiffany G.

Yelp
Enjoyed our food and the view! The workers were extremely helpful and sweet. Even though you order and pay first, then grab a table the workers constantly checked on us. They ran out of lobster rolls (been out awhile they mentioned) when I went so they recommended their pesto lobster fettuccine to us and it was delish. Lots of lobster, it was so flavorful and filled with pesto-y goodness. Hoping they're able to get the rolls back since that's one item we really want to try. We also got the aguachile which seemed to be more of a ceviche to us, but it was the perfect tartness with the lime and paired well with the salted chips. We also got fish and chips and boy were they crispy and hot. Would definitely recommend Circle Hook and can't wait to come back!

Rossi C.

Yelp
Service is okay with the kids running business , but attention to details is missing . Food was not consistent . Small portions . Bear flag much better !

Tumbeler C.

Yelp
Some of the freshest seafood in town with fresh vegetables and fruit. A delicious prickly pear margarita!

Megan B.

Yelp
Great quick lunch spot located in Lido village area. Order through the cashier, get a number and staff brings the food and drinks out. Excellent customer service the cashier was patient when I read the menu and placed my order. Along with providing suggestion of mock tail (virgin prickly pear margarita) was excellent. Ordered the Baja fish tacos excellent, along with the server who brought out my food. Great view of the Harbour and boats docked.

Ayman A.

Yelp
Service is nice, everyone is welcoming, but the food was not good. Some of the dishes were very salty and others were missing the flavor and salt . The location is great with a beautiful view of the waterfront.

Trang L.

Yelp
Absolutely atrocious service rude staff that will lie to you about the ingredients in the food until you pull put your phone and record them lying and then they will suddenly switch up. Will never eat here again.

Persila N.

Yelp
Came here on a whim while walking through Lido Marina Village, and decided to eat here for dinner. I was craving fish overall, and the fish tacos looked really good. I decided to get these, and my husband got fish and chips. The fish tacos had a good portion, with the same crisp battered fish as the fish and chips. The slaw was perfect. I got a side of cilantro rice as well, which I would recommend. My husband's fish and chips were on the smaller side for portions, so I would not recommend this if you are hungry. Fish and chips were served with fries. There are amazing views on the water here, even though it is a fast casual place where you order at the counter and they bring you your food to the table. Service was friendly and prompt. There is an inside area with a bar and some limited seating, otherwise you can grab your own table outside. I would come back for the fish tacos or to try some of the other items!

Stephanie P.

Yelp
Went to Circle Hook as we browsed in the Lido Marina Village and it was pretty good! The views are absolutely gorgeous as your seated facing the dock. We ordered their lobster roll, crudo, their fish of the day, and some cocktails. All were great and the staff was very kind and even led us in the direction of different beaches in the area. My only complaint was the lobster roll the bread was just too hard that it took away from a lot of the flavor. Overall, great place with a great view and I would definitely come back.

Amy N.

Yelp
Super cool place to come by walk around and grab a bite to eat. First time trying this place. I initially thought this place looks similar to Bear Flags. Little did I know they are owned by Bear Flags. Fresh seafood with a beautiful view- what else can you ask for. Blue fin tuna Crudo - simple, fresh and a great appetizer Grilled fish of the day (sword fish) - super good! The buns were toasted and the fish was perfectly grilled. Sauce was good as well! Curry Clams and muscles - the broth was delicious and we ended up getting more bread to dip it in the sauce. We top the meal off with a few Sancere, one of the tastiest , refreshing glass is wine! The service was great. Everything tasted fresh and made to order. Outdoor seating is available, though the space is small. There is a big parking lot and best to park there especially on the weekends when it's packed.

Lisa N.

Yelp
Located in the Lido Marina Village, parking can be difficult to find especially during weekends. I love the fish and chips here and also the fish tacos. The experience gets even better if you're able to eat outside by the water, but sitting inside at the bar isn't so bad either.

Gladys F.

Yelp
Stopped by for a meal after an outing at the beach. We were craving seafood and our search lead us here. We grabbed a seat at a table against the rail and found it comfortable and cool for a spring afternoon. We ordered a couple beers, lobster chowder, calamari, and the fish/shrimp platter. Everything was fresh and delicious. The chowder was creamy with enough lobster chunks and tasty. The calamari came in thick strips and tender. The fish and shrimp platter came out crisp and non-greasy. The service was also quick and friendly. Recommend for small groups for casual dining.

Rocky B.

Yelp
Great vibe, food and water views. Calamari well portioned, curry mussels flavorful and lobster roll was filling. French bread all around. Nice sport to enjoy the beautiful weather and have lunch.

Michelle T.

Yelp
I give this one star for the people that take the orders. For foodies: you KNOW whenever you consider reviews- always be wary of high amounts of stars in popular areas likely to attract tourists (near water, downtown and "islands." The food here is AWFUL. I came to try the lobster roll and it was by far- the worst I've ever had. Not fresh, dry, reheated and minced. I ordered from the house specials menu and each one was poorly done, including the drink. How do you make ceviche flavorless?? This place has all the makings of the potential for a nice experience- but it starts with getting quality food, a kitchen staff that can cook, and then a mixologist who doesn't deliver a drink before putting the final ingredients in it. this place is a no. So Sorry!

Peter C.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday for lunch and to catch a bit of the basketball games. We ordered oysters, grilled tuna and a salad. He's good was great and the atmosphere was relaxed. We'll definitely be back with our dog as it's a great place to hang out, have a glass of wine, eat and enjoy a sunny afternoon.

Victoria R.

Yelp
Loved stumbling upon this restaurant!! I'm so glad we decided to stop here and grab some drinks + food! We decided to share a poke bowl and a shrimp cocktail. It was really good and tasted fresh! My husband got two beers on tap and I had a glass of rosé. It was so wonderful sitting outside facing the water! They have a great location with great views. Their staff were all so friendly and helpful too! Thanks for the great service and food! I can't wait to come back when I am in the area!

thang t.

Yelp
I went here with my family. Here is my observations and suggestions: 1) #1 reason to go here is for the view. A few steps from the water. 2) Friendly staff 3) There is a parking structure that gives free parking for 2 hours with validation. So make sure to get validate here. 4) The poke bowl was really good. Highly recommend. It tasted like a ginger sesame salad topped with raw tuna. 5) the fried shrimp was good. They a soft batter as opposed to a crispy, tempura batter WHAT I WOULD DO NEXT TIME: I ordered 2 kids meals (chicken tender and shrimp) for $24, but it woulda been better to get the ultimate sampler for $25. I would get the poke bowl again. There are a lot of other restaurants next door that look really good, I would probably try one of those sometime too.

Michelle F.

Yelp
Awesome service. Perfect location. Located right next to the port. They have various tables outside, perfect for sipping and boat watching.

Lisa G.

Yelp
Excellent service. Fish choices superb. Must try when in lido. Can't wait to visit again.

Tracy Y.

Yelp
Very fun place to people watch. Great vibe. Best onion rings. Fun fun fun. Would definitely go back. Classy looking people at Lido Marina Village.

Henry J.

Yelp
Stopped in on a Tuesday night had a light dinner unfortunately a little too light. The fish and chips were tasty but a two piece for $22 was way overpriced skimpy on the fries and the two pieces of fish were small in reality. Those two pieces should've been one piece of fish, you guys need to get it together on that end. Walked across the street to bear flag because I left hungry and probably won't be back

Nathan Z.

Yelp
Absolutely terrible service. I ordered a 16 ounce soup and they took 30 minutes to serve it. The rest of the people at my table got their food 10-15 minutes before I received mine. Even worse, they served me an 8 ounce soup, half of the amount I ordered. When I asked them about it, they apologized and told me they would serve the rest of my soup later. 20 minutes passed, I received no update. When I went to ask them again, they said they wouldn't give it to me because they served it to someone else. I have the receipt and they still would not serve it to me. Worst service I ever received at Newport Beach. Do not go to this restaurant unless you want to get ripped off.

Brandon L.

Yelp
Very good ceviche and curry muscle, and very good service here Steamed white rice with garlic is very excellent.
