"There are pizza parlors you visit when you’re drunk, and ones you go to when you’re sober, but they’re usually not the same. Circle Pizza is the rare crossover. This iconic Avalon spot churns out consistently good pies and big Greek salads to families filling tables inside, and, usually much later in the night, anyone stumbling out of the Princeton, a divey bar on the next block. Whichever category you happen to be in, order a classic, one of the white pies, and whatever’s on special, like the cheesesteak pizza with peppers and onions." - regan stephens, sydney mcelwee, candis mclean

Google
I go to Circle every weekend when I visit Avalon. Typically, 6 -10 times during summer. Popped in this past Saturday. The was decorated for Halloween and looked festive! The pizza however, SUCKED! So GREAZY! I don't know if its a new owner, new pizza maker or they changed the recipe or ingredients but it literally got me and my boyfriend sick! For hours our stomachs weren't right! Never had this happen before. Never had a bad slice there! You had your chance Circle! When you screw up a plain cheese pie and it doesn't sit well with the tummy, there's no reason to come back!

Google
Nice local pizza place with comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. I recommend the chicken steak hoagie.

Morgan Staffieri

Google
The BEST pizza you will EVER have. We have been visiting circle pizza for over 20 years. We visit every summer when we are vacationing in Avalon, NJ. We wish having their pizza wasn’t just limited to our summer vacations. Also, their cheesesteak eggrolls with the spicy ketchup is 10/10. We look forward to this pizza EVERY year!!! we love circle so much!! 🍕

Google
Severed frozen avocados on my salad. When I asked for more dressing on my family size salad they wanted to charge me another dollar. I recommend going to the many other restaurants in this street.

Kevin Holland

Google
$19.40 for 3 slices of garbage...stay home and cook a frozen pizza, it's better and cheaper...

Jacob Williamson

Google
Good burger, excellent amount of cheesy. The service was really nice too. Great experience, and great collection of drinks and chips, would recommend if ever looking for something nice and cheap in Avalon, which is rare 😅

Google
We called and ordered takeout and picked it up and when I got home we realized that one of our cheesesteak rolls was missing so I called and they were so nice and they delivered to our house and gave us two more. I was totally going to go pick up but they came through. The food was great and they have decent people working for them..we had white pizza and pepperoni. Both very good.

Google
Truly unique thin crust pizza. The best in Avalon. Great sauce that is a little sweet. Been enjoying this place for over 20 years. Really a great spot.

Michael N.

Yelp
This is the capita of Pizza in Avalon (and beyond.) Thin delicious crust topped with great slightly sweet sauce and covered in nutty cheese. The service is quick and friendly. They work with 2 ovens. This is the place to be for pizza Worth a special trip

Kyle H.

Yelp
1/10. Would not recommend. I ordered a Red Pizza. That is not cheese, yet cheese was on the pizza. I told the lady that it wasn't what I ordered and she told me "red pie still has cheese", so would a white pizza still have sauce?? Looks like the just removed the cheese from the original pizza they gave me. I definitely won't be ordering from there again, would much rather go to Shorebreak Pizza across the street.

Sarah A.

Yelp
I have been gluten free for a very long time , and haven't had a good gluten free pizza like that ever , I think they make their own crust, it is more on the pricey side you get a small pizza for now around $27

Samantha C.

Yelp
Can I give this a zero? Over $50 for pizza and salad. If reasonably priced I would give it a 2. But it's not good. The order was wrong. The one topping we got was half in the pizza. I can't go back.

Connor B.

Yelp
This place is an absolute rip off. Came here one night to get a slice. I ordered two cheese and two pepperoni slices and it came out to $24. I asked the server how much a whole pie was and they told me $30. $30 for a cheese pie is extremely overpriced and $24 for four slices is equally as criminal. The pizza itself isn't anything to call home about. I'm pretty sure the owner of this place is just trying to take advantage of patrons coming out of the bars in the area that aren't paying attention. I would never come back here.

Lisa G.

Yelp
Don't order from Circle Pizza. Did an order over the phone for delivery, paid with credit card, and included a generous tip. Never showed up. Stopped answering the phone. Drove all the over there and they said they were unexpectedly busy but there were like 2 people in there. Left with no food. Done with them. If I could give zero stars I would.

Emma K.

Yelp
I was driving past your business on the left side and one of your delivery driver's almost took my car out. The driver pulled out of his spot so quickly as I was almost right next to him and about to hit the car. Instead of stopping, the driver proceeded to back up and reverse and I broke just in time for him even though I had the right away. He continued to reverse though and I had to reverse with him. The driver obviously didn't look and almost caused an accident. Circle Pizza do better and hire drivers who actually know how to drive.

Eric H.

Yelp
Ordered a large pizza at just under $25. Pizza is very mediocre, but since Nemo's closed there are few options in Avalon. Dude behind the counter taking pizzas out of the oven had shoulder-length, greasy hair and he was constantly running his hand through his hair to get it out of his eyes. Disgusting. You would think manager or owner would make him wear a hairnet?

Dick S.

Yelp
Gross. A large cheese pie and a small pie with veggies......$42.98. Rip off! Horrible! Better bet with some frozen pie from Acme.

Ricardo F.

Yelp
Mediocre pizza, minimum amount of toppings and hard dough. Service was super cold. Only plus is they are open for lunch on weekdays, only place in Avalon...

Lou C.

Yelp
Pizza is mediocre at best, service is hit or miss, and the prices are astonishingly high given the quality of the food. There are better options for pizza locally.

Dan W.

Yelp
Excellent gluten free pizza. They must make their own dough . It was the best I've had , and I've had a lot.

Peter D.

Yelp
Outstanding gluten free pizza! Seriously. Good little beach pizza place! Hit the spot.

Mike G.

Yelp
I was really impressed with circle pizza today, more then just good pizza. I had an order of hot wings and the cheesesteak salad. I was impressed that the ranch dressing & blue cheese dressings were homemade. Wings were really, really good as they were large and thoroughly cooked. Maybe a little too cooked, but better then under cooked. The sauce was good and probably a jacked up mass market hot sauce but very good. Cheesesteak salad was great and I had to have a slice as much as I was avoiding carbs. Pizza is really good , very unique and different from any pizza anywhere. The crust is super thin, tasty sauce and good cheese. Definitely overpriced but in line with boardwalk prices. A great tradition in Avalon and a great option for a casual lunch or late night snack.

Michele I.

Yelp
Margherita pizza. $34 and barely any cheese. two slices didn't have one piece of fresh mozzarella on it. overrated and overprice.

George T.

Yelp
The counter staff is possibly the worst type of human beings you could possibly encounter. They're arrogant, ignorant and rude beyond imagination. I found a hair in my crust and when I pointed it out was accused of it being my own. The pizza is below average and the staff is below that.

Anabella A.

Yelp
In avalon you don't have many options. This is my go to pizza spot. The pizza itself is pretty mediocre BUT they make homemade cheesesteak egg rolls that are absolutely incredible. So yummy. The buffalo chicken egg rolls are also good, but can be a little dry. Calzones are fresh (and huge). Apps taste standard pre frozen type of deal. Just make sure you add an order of the cheesesteak egg rolls

Jenn C.

Yelp
Cheesesteaks are just okay. Meat is well seasoned and a good amount of cheese, but it is on a very firm roll (you could call it a "torpedo roll") and less than 12"... I would guess mine was 8-9" if that. There are far better cheesesteaks and value at other places on 7 mile island or if you head south to the Wildwoods.

Matt C.

Yelp
The staff here are probably the most unhappy people I have ever encountered in my life. It's almost like they are trying to be miserable towards customers. The monotone voice they use while taking orders made me question if I was speaking to a robot at first. Someone in my party is gluten free and the staff were unaccommodating and rude when she asked if there were any options for her. On top of all this, the prices are over the top and can change without notice. However, if you can look past these things, the food itself is very good. Great pizza, cheesesteaks, and fries. I almost compare this place to a toxic relationship. We knew the service and prices would be bad, but we kept coming back anyway because of the food.

Andy S.

Yelp
To dine in or take out, is the $1000 question. By far our go to pizza joint when down in the area. Pizza is best when served straight from the oven. The offer both indoor and outdoor dinning options. While my son could eat Pizza ever day, one of the great things about Circle Pizza is they are linked with the Graden of Eatin. My daughter was not in the mood for Pizza, but was able to satisfy her hunger with a burrito from Big Chanco's. A huge bonus in my opinion. We did do take out as well. While not Circle Pzza's fault, this location seems to be notorious for young teenage kids to hang out. We found them to be very inconsiderate as that gathered in large groups, had foul mouths, and left behind their mess expecting staff to clean up after them. Clearly not a restaurant issue and more of a poor parenting issue for raising such disrespectful kids who are poorly supervised who have access to Mommy and Daddy's credit card. My kids were rather shocked at how disrespectful and arrogant they were. Would have loved to video them, but clearly that was not a smart move. Nonetheless, the Pizza is awesome ans is best when eaten right out of the oven. On any given shore bound destination, we stop in at least 2 if not three times..

Tom O.

Yelp
Unable to listen to simple orders. Forgot my brothers food off the order when it was clearly ordered. Their "subject to change without notice" policy for prices is ridiculous during this economy. Very poor establishment. Would avoid.

Arielle L.

Yelp
I will never order from circle pizza again. I called one night an HOUR before they closed for delivery. The girl on the phone wasnt happy about me calling, I could tell by the way she tried telling me they had no bread left for my sandwich. So I order a salad and a sandwich. It takes over 45min to be delivered. So now its 10:00, their closing time and I open my food to see they did not give me my sandwich. I call back. Dont you know, no one answers. It was 10:00 on the dot. I've never worked in a pizza shop where we are all cleaned up and out the door before the closing time. It has been over 2 weeks since that incident and no one has refunded me my money, everytime I call I get some bullshit excuses or i have to call multiple times to reach a manager. Their customer service is horrible, I would just like my money back. Check out Tonios pizza instead! They are amazing.

Jason M.

Yelp
I know everyone is raising prices now but $32 for a 16-inch buffalo chicken pizza is outrageous. It's decent but not as good as the $27 one at 7-Mile Pies. Sad what Circle has become.

Mike A.

Yelp
Went to place with my wife who isn't from the US. The guy lied to her and said they charge for large sodas even for fountain waters. When I questioned it it was clear he was full of BS. Total scam shop be careful and double check your bill.

Gwendolyn P.

Yelp
A perfectly situated place to grab a slice or a snack either after or before a night of revelry. At $3 for a plain cheese slice it was a bit on the pricey side but that seems to be the case with everything in Avalon. We also tried the chicken fingers which were a better value than the pizza and were quite delicious! I found it handy that you can call ahead to place an order and then go to eat there.

Mario N.

Yelp
It's absolutely astounding that you can charge $32 dollars for a subpar pie while simultaneously insulting your patrons as they are attempting to purchase. Sign the petition to boycott Circle Pizza - http://chng.it/n4Vv9Wy48M

Ry K.

Yelp
Good for late night slices. Crazy price hike though in the evening due to everyone leaving the Princeton.

Michael F.

Yelp
What a scam. Cardboard crust, bland tomato sauce and tasteless, cheap cheese. And this was from a pie that just came out of the oven. It couldn't be worse if they tried harder. Clearly, this place serves one function. Maximize profits from the unsuspecting vacationers and spillover out of the Princeton. You've been warned.

Kelly S.

Yelp
Sooooooo sad what has happened to this place. I used to frequent Circle Pizza multiple times a year during the season and off-season from 2002 to about 2010 and it was the best pizza I had ever had. Like dreamed about it when I was not in town. WAS THE BEST PIZZA... I had European friends in town and was in AC for the weekend and drove 30 miles out of the way to take them to Circle Pizza for what I advertised to them as "the best pizza they would ever taste"... Well, I can say prices went up quite a bit, the size of the pizza went down quite a bit and at best it's "meh" as far as taste. While they've done quite to enhance the interior of the location (adding the roll-up door to enjoy the breeze was a nice touch), they're really off their pizza game. Both gals working the counter tried delivering the wrong pizza to us. BOTH. It was like the first girl didn't believe it wasn't our pizza so she sent the other one over to try to sell it to us. Finally, they came back to our table asking us what it was we actually ordered and then 20 minutes later we got our pizza. Also, none of the flavors on the fountain soda were working - no matter what we picked the machine dispensed what tasted like sea water. The good news....I don't ever have to worry about craving Circle Pizza again!!!

Andrew L.

Yelp
Charging 5 dollars a slice at night because they think drunk people will pay. It is insane for halfway decent pizza to try to rip off people because they think their customers are drunk and will just pay.

Gabi A.

Yelp
TOTALLY disappointed. Ordered a half ultimate half cheese pizza, calamari, and buckman's fries. Took an hour and one phone call to get. Then when we got our order, turns out we got the wrong appetizer. Sorry, Ashley! Really? Cheese Fries? We call back and inform them that the appetizer we got isn't ours and the person on the phone said he'd call the delivery driver and left us on hold. Said the driver didn't have his items and blamed the manager. I understand mistakes happen but please just get it solved. We've since called twice and were given the same blank response. We ordered the meal at 7:00 and it is now 11:00. This is ridiculous, please don't hire children without some kind of adult monitoring what's going out. Also, we ordered an Ultimate without tomatoes. We received the entire pizza without tomato sauce.

John D.

Yelp
Small and a medium for nearly $50. Are you kidding me? A giant glob of uncooked dough with maybe 5 pieces of pepperoni and 5 or 6 strips of bell pepper. Been going here a long time. No more. Can't blame this one on Covid.

Leigh N.

Yelp
One star because they charge $30 dollars for a 20in pizza after hours or "late night" . The menu says $20. What a rip off.

Danielle H.

Yelp
I rave about pizza in NJ on the regular. Especially at the jersey shore. Yes I ate pizza everyday when I was in Avalon. Yes it is better than any pizza in California. Butttt I have to say, Sea Isle and Belmar still take the prize for having the best shore pizza. This place was down the block from my friends shore house - very accommodating. The sauce is pretty good but the few times I had the pizza it was cooked way too much. I like crispy crust but it was so burnt that it made the slice taste dry and you could barely taste the sauce. After the bars let out you can't get a slice from the "pizza by the slice" window - NOT COOL!

Jon A.

Yelp
Surprisingly bad. $12 for 2 slices of barely warm greasy pizza and a fountain drink. Won't be back.

Amanda C.

Yelp
Went there for the first time and ordered a simple cheese pizza. Paid 25 bucks and waited in the restaurant and was never called....50 minutes later I check and found it had been ready. Found it was cold. Got a refund. Don't waste your time and money.

DA B.

Yelp
Awesome I love the workers they are the best. They are always nice and they should be tipped heavily.

L B.

Yelp
Omg we have been loyal customers since 1997. This evening I ordered a 20" cheese pizza and onion rings online and paid w my cc... 45 min wait, then another 20 mins as my husband sat at the pick up counter. And to add insult to injury they gave him a cold left over cheese pizza obviously from lunch that didn't sell and burnt onion rings!!! NEVER EVER COMING BACK!!!! You don't deserve loyalty and you obviously don't care. I will take my business anywhere else. And we are not renters, we are owners down every weekend during summer and lots of off season time. DONT DONT DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE BECAUSE THEY OBVIOUSLY DONT CARE!!!! Try Stone Harbor Pizza or any other place that would love to have repeat business. You've been warned so don't waste your money or time.

Eric F.

Yelp
Seriously, it might be the worst pizza in NJ. The only reason and I mean the only reason to go here is that you pour out of the Princeton and can't stagger down the street to any other good pizza places or any other place to eat. I'm not sure what you'll regret more - your hangover the next day or the pizza you ate the night before. The pizza is flavored cardboard and even that is giving cardboard a bad name because the pizza is so inconsistently cooked you have no idea what you are getting.

Kate G.

Yelp
Great selection for gluten free items. I tried the Classic Italian with a gluten free roll. Excellent customer service by the employees to ensure my meal would fit my dietary needs.

Chris M.

Yelp
The only pizza place that makes you go through a prompting only to be put in hold and forgotten about. Sat on hold for 7 mins hung up and called Nemos, had my pizzas in 20 mins. Thanks Nemo Its a pizza place, figure it out guys, not that hard!

L T.

Yelp
Pizza was ok, but delivery was delayed. When we called to check on it we were rudely advised it was in route.

Adam V.

Yelp
The buffalo chicken pizza is one of the best I have ever had. They are open late and sell pizza by the slice. If you're thinking of heading there for a slice I would suggest you call to see what they have if you're looking for one of their speciality slices. They will put one aside if you ask them too usually!

John G.

Yelp
If you base a rating on the quality and taste of the food I'll give Circle pizza three stars. However the service is worthy of two stars at best. Summer beach kids having fun, not caring a ton. Had to ask for plastic ware, sauce, napkins, the salad dressing... you get the idea. Pizza and Stromboli were tasty. I'd go back but set Beach pizza shop expectations.

Mary S.

Yelp
I saw the other Yelp reviews, and I still assumed that it couldn't be THAT bad. Oh my Ford, it was THAT bad. It was a FOURTY minute wait for a large plain pie. There was one person waiting ahead of us. And maybe two pizzas waiting for pickup behind the counter. What was going on back there? When I finally asked the fat blonde teenager behind the counter what was taking so long, he rolled his eyes and walked away to check. They wound up giving us one of the colder, older pizzas waiting for pickup. I took it just because I wanted to get my family out of there. Seriously. Bad. Don't go. Don't.

Jane B.

Yelp
This place sucks. went there hoping to get a late night snack was not allowed inside of the dining room. they charged me five dollars for one slice and a dollar for a side of ranch. employees were rude and not helpful AT ALL. The employees forgot to give me my change and were very rude when I went up to ask for it. overall one of the worst experiences ever. will not be coming back. EVER!!!!

Sarah C.

Yelp
Disrespectful and rude service. After purchasing 4 slices of pizza ($20) and kindly asked for a few cups of water, they flat out refused. Crossed arms and wouldn't make eye contact, continuing to argue we had to buy bottles, even though server had clear cups in hand prepared to give us water.... As paying customers of the restaurant and tax payers of the city, we feel it is ridiculous to deny such a small thing.... A simple cup of water could have helped us out and make the night tremendously better. Hope the owner is able to address this issue for future patrons... until hen I'd avoid this establishment and the rude night shift manager

Josh A.

Yelp
This place is bad, even by Avalon standards. Outside of a drunk slice after the Whitebrier or Princeton, don't waste your time or money.

Cam A.

Yelp
The cashier/employee who helped us did not wear gloves when touching our pizza. He handled our money at the register, then used his bare hands to wrestle our slices out of the pies. Not only is this gross, but violates restaurant health codes. This also raises covid-19 concerns.
