I truly wish this review were about an incredible birthday celebration -- because that's exactly how our night began.
We had a party of 12, and from the moment we walked in, we were impressed. The atmosphere inside was warm and inviting, the food was excellent, and our server was fantastic. We were having a great time celebrating my birthday with family. For nearly the entire evening, everything was perfect.
But the final 20 minutes completely destroyed the night.
Wanting to enjoy the outdoor space before heading home, my family sat at a nearby table while my father and I walked over to the glowing outdoor bar to order two drinks. We were simply planning to finish the night with one last toast.
The bartender -- sunglasses on, hat backwards -- refused to serve us unless we sat in the bar stools. Not just asked us to sit -- refused to serve us at all, even though we were politely standing right in front of him and the bar was nearly empty. It felt condescending and power-trippy, as if we were doing something wrong by... ordering drinks at a bar.
So, like children being corrected, we sat down -- just to be served.
Moments later, my uncle walked up, stood between us, and asked if my dad could buy him a beer. The bartender suddenly became hostile, raising his voice and refusing to serve him, insisting that orders could only be taken at a table -- even though we were literally sitting at the bar. My uncle then found a chair, sat down, and politely called the bartender over.
The bartender escalated instead of serving a simple $6 beer.
He began yelling, saying things like:
"You're not going to yell at me and expect me to serve you!"
No one yelled at him. We were stunned.
At this point, we asked for the manager. The bartender sharply replied:
"No."
He refused to get a manager. He continued to argue, continued to deny service, and continued to treat us like we were trying to cause a problem -- when all we wanted was one beer, 20 minutes before closing.
We finally saw him whisper something to the manager, so we waved the manager over. Instead of listening to us, the manager immediately sided with the bartender, threatened to throw us out, and showed zero interest in understanding what happened. No attempt at de-escalation. No apology. Nothing. The bartender stood there and lied to our face and the manager didn't ask him to step away once while he discussed the situation with us.
A perfect night -- ruined in 20 minutes by one bartender on a power trip and a manager who didn't care enough to intervene.
We left embarrassed, angry, and incredibly disappointed.
To Circles:
If customer experience matters to you, something needs to change. One employee should not have the power to turn a celebration into a humiliating experience. This bartender lacked professionalism, respect, and even the most basic customer service skills.
We won't be returning.
