Came here for Happy Hour. The Martini was perfectly crafted, super cold and clean just like the way I enjoyed mine. The Mac n Cheese was garlicky and flavorful and not dry. The cheese plate was meal size for the price. Overall it was classy bar, nicely done drinks and chill vibes! I would definitely come back after work and hang out here. Don’t forget to follow @Only1christinelu for more Kool places to eat and drink.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Citizen Capitol Craft House and was thoroughly impressed with my experience. The food was exceptional, offering a delightful blend of flavors that left a lasting impression. Each dish was prepared with great attention to detail and quality. A special shoutout to our server, Annie, who was incredibly attentive and made sure our dining experience was perfect from start to finish. Her friendly demeanor and knowledge of the menu greatly enhanced our visit. Additionally, her supervisor, Mateo, deserves recognition for his excellent oversight and ensuring everything ran smoothly. Overall, Citizen Capitol Craft House exceeded my expectations with its fantastic food and top-notch service. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience!

First time here at Citizen Capitol Craft House. Let’s start from the Hostess, Rhona, who pleasantly greeted us, with her very pleasant personality, her beautiful smile and she’s very welcoming. The Manager Matteo greeted us and gave us a warm welcome. The Hostess Rhona seated us and our Server Briege did not waste time to greet us. Briege was very attentive, very pleasant & providing us an excellent service for the entire time.. I love the ambiance, it was very calm, pleasant, elegant & relaxing, even with the bar next to it. Very spacious with more privacy settings. Now, let’s talk about the food, wow! All 3 main dishes we ordered were delicious! We ordered, Smoked Australian Wagyu Brisket, then the Pan Seared Steelhead Trout & the Mary's Airline Chicken Breast very flavorful, tasty & delicious. The dessert! Yum! We had the Honeycomb Pot de crème, so delicious! I could have two of those! The presentation of all 3 main dishes, our cocktail drinks & the dessert were beautiful, excellent & well done. They have fantastic Cocktail drinks, we had White Canary & Corpse Reviver #2 both were very refreshing drinks, love it. Thank you to the kitchen staff especially to the Chef Troy. Overall excellent service, delicious food & I highly recommend & definitely will become a regular. 💕

Seriously amazing. Cocktails were fantatsic. The food was beyond amazing. We had the Ube grilled cheese with tomatoes bisque and their pasta. That was the best pasta I have ever had. Our waitress with the moth tattoo was so sweet and very attentive. My old fashion was beautiful and my friend got their tea cocktail.

Stayed at the Sheraton across the street for a few days. Tried this place out within an hour of my initial arrival. Made it in time for their happy hour which was priced very reasonably. Loved the food, great drinks, great service, nice regulars who bought me a drink right before leaving. I ended up taking my coworkers here the next night as they wanted something close to the hotel and they loved it. And the next day we couldnt get away from our work in the Convention center so we just sent someone over to get food to-go. Great every time. Loved the Pacific Coast Sea Bass.

I ordered the Fresh Tortellini Puttanesca and the Tyrant’s Love and they were SUPERB. I love the atmosphere and the staff was amazing! They’ve definitely earned a new regular.

Awesome birthday lunch for my adult grand daughter. Service was outstanding and food was unbelievably good. Chef Ray has done an excellent job with this new restaurant in downtown Sacramento. Will definitely return. Highly recommended.

Citizen Capitol Craft House nailed the Halloween vibe! The spooky cocktails were on point—each one looked like a witch’s potion, fun skull garnishes, awesome colors. Great atmosphere, fantastic drinks, and an awesome beer selection too. Perfect spot to get into the Halloween spirit in Sacramento!

Yelp
I don't know how I've missed this place in all my visits to midtown locations. This is a new staple for me, as it's a great spot with excellent beer options, countless cocktails and good food too. All day happy hour every Saturday? How fantastic is that! Vibe is very chill, atmosphere is speakeasy-esque and overall this is a great spot to hangout and enjoy the atmosphere, conversation at the bar or a game. We watched playoff football and couldn't have been happier.

Yelp
My wife and I had a great experience here the other evening. We had stopped by briefly the week before just for a drink so we decided to come this time to try some food as well. I had a couple of draft beers and she had a draft cocktail from the happy hour menu. Both hit the spot. We ordered the mini cheese board and the snacks sampler. The cheese board was great! The pickles were outstanding and a good selection of cheese and toast points. The snacks were less stellar but the green eggs and ham deviled eggs were good. We ordered the steak tartare and that was fantastic. Excellent flavors from the finely cut steak, creamy eggs yolk, and herbs/spices. This made for an excellent proper appetizer. Our main we shared was a jambalaya pasta. It had good flavor and plenty of protein inside, but I would've preferred a saucier version or a soupier version with rice. It wasn't a home run, but wasn't bad at all. Overall it was a great experience. It's a nicely decorated space with a fascinatingly large selection of bottles of liquor. Our bartender was friendly, prompt, and never left us waiting. We'll be back for sure to try some other items from the menu and return for the tartare.

Yelp
Up in SacTown for CIM. This place is amazing and you should absolutely go. 1) greeted and seated immediately 2) drinks were never empty 3) service was impeccable 4) every single food item we ate -- crab roll, chips, green eggs, Brussels sprouts, and cheese board -- were amazing. Beautiful presentation, amazing flavors, generous but not overwhelming portions. All of this would have gotten a 5/5 from me. But the. They went above and beyond. Annie and Erin were on the floor. They saw my husband was in Ducks gear and turned the game on. When we left, and came back, they recognized us. Reader, we went back because the veggie pickles on the cheese board -- okra, asparagus, cauliflower florets, carrots, red onions -- were sooooooooooo good that my pregnant self wanted more. We went back for me to get just a side of veggie pickles. They didn't bat an eye and gave me a generous tub of them for less than I'd pay Whole Foods to get a jar of them off the market shelf. Amazing place. Go there often. Give them all your money. They deserve it.

Yelp
Location: Really conveniently located by Safe Performing Arts Center, parking can be tricky downtown but there are a couple of garages close by Reservations: You can submit a request for a reservation online, or you can make one by phone. When we went we didn't need one, but nice to have the option- especially if you are going with a bigger party Service: Overall our service was great. It took a few minutes to get seated, but our server was really nice and the food came out in good time. What we ordered: Capitol Old Fashioned Cocktail- this was good, I would've loved if they had used a big ice cube so the small cubes didn't melt so much, but overall a nice drink Green eggs and ham- these were delicious, really clever and unique. Loved the flavor of the pesto and dill paired with the egg Loaded Dirty Fries- a generous serving of fries with a nice balance of toppings and combination of flavors. The homemade ranch was to die for! House Classic Caesar Salad- Loved this! Perfect ratio of dressing, the lettuce was fresh and crisp. Served with a 6-minute egg was a nice touch and added some protein Fried Chicken Sandwich- great crisp and just the right amount of sauce on the chicken. The pickles added a nice texture also Overall this place had a nice vibe and food, I would recommend!

Yelp
By far, one of my favorite spots to eat and have a few drinks... This place has some really good food. we arrived for lunch with a party of 15... They had a nice spot nestled in the corner to fit all of us. I think we ordered everything on the menu... I had a taste of many of the selections. The burgers are really good... We had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners... Can't wait to try their Loco Moco when it's added to the menu. So, I'll be coming back.

Yelp
Just ate here during lunch with coworkers. The prices were a little on the $$ side for a quick lunch if you're hungry enough for an entree, but the lunch options were decent . I wish they had a lunch menu equivalent to their happy hour, it would really draw the state and area workers to the location. My coworker and I shared a smash burger (14 with single patty) and chicken sandwich ( $15) and the chicken sandwich was AMAZING. One thing I didn't like was the mustard, but I'm just not a mustard person. The burger was pretty good too! The chips were a hit and a good alternative to French fries. We can't wait to go in again and try their other food options. Service is prompt and sweet. I asked for bbq and the manager made it quickly. A good vibe to be around for a few brews and bites.

Yelp
Went for happy hour...got there just in time. Parking was pretty easy to find around 5:45. Happy hour is over at 6:00. The place has a nice vibe. Great seating, colors, etc. Great music. We sat at the bar. They have four TVs (two on each side of the bar). For some of the seating next to the bar you can see the TVs, but not all. The happy hour menu is great. Super reasonably priced, especially nowadays. See pics for happy hour menu and non-happy hour menu. The old fashioned was great and so was the Negroni. And get this...got a gin and soda for $5. Cannot beat that! Food was good. We ordered the wagyu sliders, carrots, and cheese plate. Our bartender/server was Rachel, she was great. She provided info on the truffle jack cheese that was on the cheese plate. The pistachios with the truffle jack cheese....Sooo good. The pesto was great too. Would love to go back and try their main dishes. This place will be added to the rotation. Give it a try!!

Yelp
Good service. Very good food. Nice ambiance. NY steak was well prepared. Wife enjoyed her sea bass. Spirit prices could be a tad lower. Would recommend overall.

Yelp
Love this place! The food was really good and the bartenders were very friendly and knowledgeable. The place was very inviting and stylish. Good job!

Yelp
Initially we walked in to have dinner around 500...they said they didn't seat tables until 530. So we went to the bar area where we were greeted immediately. The happy hour menu was nice, but pricey for happy hour. We eventually opted to move to a high top table to eat dinner once our friend arrived. From there service got sparse. It was even hard to get a glass of water. The burger was outstanding and they were great about my food allergy. Not giving 5 stars because once we decided to order food we couldn't get a server whatsoever to pay attention to us.

Yelp
Incredible ambiance, great food, extensive drink menu, all day happy hour? What could be better? Tucked away behind a coffee shop, this place has a speakeasy vivibe and a laid-back (but attentive) staff to take your drink and food orders. Plenty of taps of beer across the spectrum, coupled with a changing menu of entrees and anchors of burgers and elevated pub fare. Reasonably priced and delicious - so good that I chose them both nights on a visit to the city, with no regrets. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and try them out!

Veronique C.

Yelp
Good happy hour food specials. Everything I ordered was delicious. The carrots were great; so was the melon salad. My only complaint and its mild: the pot de crème desert is a Chocolate Pot de Crème, but it says nowhere chocolate on the menu and description. I don't hate chocolate but I was surprised. Pot de crème is just custard. If you're gonna make it chocolate, you should probably advertise it as such. It's a lot heavier with that flavor! Regardless, it was quite tasty; just not what I expected.

James W.

Yelp
I'd highly recommend! I went in a day after official opening but no noticeable kinks to work out. Atmosphere is that of a nice restaurant but there is also a speakeasy vibe and full prominent bar with big TVs. Limited wine for now but tons of cocktails and wide beer selection. All food was excellent and the service was quick. If you like 7th St Standard or Canon, give this a shot. A little bit hidden so hopefully word spreads.

Doris D.

Yelp
Great start to the weekend ! Special mention to our bartender/waiter Ben who was sooo amazing. Super cool, attentive and always came by to check on us. Food was delicious - presentation was top notch and they had an impressive full bar. Highly recommend this place

Teishetta H.

Yelp
This food is so good here not only is the food 10 out of 10 the service is impeccable. The places clean in the vibe is out of this world.!!!! Server: Danielle TIP HER XTRA!!!

Andrea W.

Yelp
Just ate here with my friends and I'm totally amazed to this place. The food and the service is also great, it's so relaxing and comfortable to eat. We enjoyed the food while having some chitchats. I highly recommend this place. We will surely come back here!!

Elle K.

Yelp
Food is okay. Menu looks really great, but what I ordered wasn't that great, unfortunately. I ordered the caesar salad w/ shrimp; it didn't come with the egg that the menu says it does, but they still charged me the same price for it. It was also fairly small for a full dinner salad. Honest mustard chips sounded really good, but were just okay. Bartender was very attentive and friendly. I would probably try this place again and order something different, but wasn't too impressed my first visit.

David S.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my dinner here. The Espresso Martini and fried chicken sandwich were both delicious! The bartenders were friendly and the atmosphere was nice. Definitely recommend stopping by!

Yelp
My husband and I went here for our 15th anniversary. Our waiter was wonderful, and the chef made us a special dessert off the menu for our celebration. We started with the pesto deviled eggs, which were good. I could have gone for a little more pesto flavor, but my husband was happy with the mellow taste. We had the kennebac potato wedges - which were quite good - and the shishito squash blossoms. These were cooked nicely, but the shishito flavor was so mild; we both wished it had been kicked up a notch. My husband had the brisket, which was so tender a knife wasn't even needed. I had the trout, which I liked, but it seemed to have the same filling as the squash blossoms, so I was looking for a little more flavor. Overall, we would come back. I'm hoping that they'll have some different offerings later in the fall

Yelp
This place is a great spot near the capitol to have lunch! It's super fresh hot and tasty. Service is always great, and the price is competitive with local fast food spot around. Why eat fast food that is garbage, when you can have fresh tasty gourmet meals? I highly recommend this spot. It's on my rotation!

Matt J.

Yelp
Kind of a classic gastropub vibe. Had to come here after seeing the "green eggs and ham" appetizer. It's good...not mind-blowing, but good. The trout main dish was quite good. Beer list is solid. They're having fun with the menu. Worth checking out.

Yelp
Citizen has assembled a fantastic and cheerful crew that brings true artistry to the mix. I didn't know what I wanted either night that I dropped into the bar to experience the newness and the beauty of the ambiance, which has high backed booths lining the street side windows and a welcoming atmosphere around the massive central bar loop. Food portion was generous and tasty with fresh ingredients and beautiful presentation. If I didn't know this place was here almost hidden across the street from the Sheraton, I would not have had the pleasure of meeting the staff or having the benefit of their intuition when delivering delicious hand crafted cocktails.

Nia M.

Yelp
The bar manager Annie is amazing, along with her bar staff. This review is regarding the kitchen. I ordered their short ribs as they were on special, they served them to me cold. I didn't want to complain so I ordered their habanero popcorn, I requested that it be served hot as I've received cold popcorn in my previous visit. The popcorn was served cold, I asked if they could serve me the popcorn warm , Annie brought the popcorn to the kitchen, & comes back with the cold popcorn & tells me that the kitchen refused to warm the popcorn. Never in my life have I been told "no" regarding warming my food. I should've sent the cold ribs back, but since I frequent this establishment I didn't want to be a pain but to serve me cold popcorn when I specifically asked for it to be served warm, & then be denied my request is insane! The bald chef, the 2 short Hispanic cooks, all should be ashamed of themselves, they were too busy watching tv instead of doing their job!

Brian S.

Yelp
Excellent food. Got the bacon burger, very good. Habanero fries were the right level of spice. Server was friendly and attentive.

Carol m.

Yelp
The location has a total speakeasy vibe with plush leather banquets and a ginormous bar area. Happy hours are 3-6 with excellent specials. Definitely a cocktail joint with cocktails on draft and an extensive spirits list. Really generous beef tartare with just the right acidity. The marinated castlevetrano olives with pistachios were super yummy. The only disappointment was the duck wedges. They were crispy yet soft but the dipping sauce was too fatty. Needed a better complement. Competent yet friendly wait staff.

Lupe R.

Yelp
Food was delicious but Annie the server stole the show! She was knowledgeable, kind and had a great sense of humor. And to top it off it was her first day. Now to the food...delicious! Order the steelhead trout, crab cakes & the duck fat wedges. The tartare and squash blossoms also delicious. Cocktails were also to die for...we had 478 tea times (only 4). Annie, we will back!

Steve K.

Yelp
Amazing ambience, great drinks and the cities best smash burger. Got a chance to try them out at their Grand Opening and was blown away by their food, drinks and service.

Lauren M.

Yelp
My husband and I had a great anniversary dinner at Citizen! The restaurant is a little tucked away, which gives it a cool speakeasy vibe, but they had a host out front to escort us inside, which was super helpful. Our server, Annie, was phenomenal. She answered all of our questions and was very sweet. We ordered the Green Eggs & Ham, the Duck Fat Kennebec Wedges, the Tortellini (which was different on the in-person menu than the online one), and a Double Smashburger. Personally, we wouldn't order the green eggs & ham again. The fries were good! The tortellini was alright (a little lemony for my liking), and the Smashburger was incredible. The most notable part of our experience was the staff's kindness and thoughtfulness! They ensured we got dessert even after their kitchen had closed, which was going way above and beyond. For a restaurant that opened so recently, everything was pretty solid, and we'd definitely return in the future!

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Exceptional service, the happy hour is definitely worth your while. I can't get over how awesome the service has been each time I enter the building which by the way is this cool speak easy type of back door entrance through the very awesome coffee house in front. Only gripe: parking . But that's to say anything about this place. On my worst day, this place will turn it around. Thank you Annie, and all the staff for being above and beyond. A brilliant, classy, wind down on a work night and a fun night life treat for those going out on the town.

Jason A.

Yelp
Extensive, well-curated drink list including craft beers and super tasty elevated pub food. Cool vibe inside and excellent service. Prices were typical of post-pandemic inflation but at least there was a nice selection of reasonably priced happy hour drinks. Would definitely try again.

melanie s.

Yelp
I do not know why everyone isn't enjoying the delicious food and luscious drinks they are serving here. We wandered in on a Tuesday night and it was fairly empty. That was our treat, we got the best service ever! The food is great, I had trout with blistered shishito peppers and my husband had the tortellini putanesca. We both loved it. If you are downtown and looking for somewhere classy and delicious, stop by the Capital Public House!

Bob R.

Yelp
Eclectic array of amazing flavors. We went for lunch and had a meal that would be hard to beat anywhere in the Sacramento area. Go with a good appetite so you can try the tasty appetizers along with the incredible entrees. Over three dozen craft beers as well. Service was perfect. Tall booths provided great sound reduction.

C T.

Yelp
Food was very poor. Salty inc salty salad and lukewarm burger. Service staff were the best aspect of the place, so if you're just here for the beer, all is good.
