I tried this place for the first time but honestly, it will be my last. I should’ve known I was in for a bad night simply by how it was damn near empty on a Saturday evening. Me and my friend decided to check it out as we’ve heard mixed reviews about this place. My friend was running late but I was seated at our table immediately. No shock there as the place was near empty. The waitress came immediately to me with her hand scanner asking me what I wanted. No hi, no welcome to Citizens and Culture, no nothing. I ordered a simple margarita. The drink came back and was weak at best. Normally when I ask for a margarita, the waiter always ask what kind of tequila I wanted. She never did so I assumed it was their rail tequila. I ordered the shrimp Alfredo and the double crab cake for my friend. Food came rather quickly but the food was mid at best. The Alfredo sauce was so runny and the portion was super small for the price! Then gave me 4 shrimp in a bowl of pasta! The crab cake was equally horrible. Who puts bell peppers in a crab cake?! It was loaded with yellow and green bell peppers. My friend wanted dessert but was told by the waitress that all they had was cookies and ice cream. Really?! Honestly I’m not surprised. Silver spring restaurants are normally a bust so the service and food was expected. We get our bulk and it’s $130 for 3 drinks and 2 entrees. The simple margarita I ordered was supposedly Patron. I didn’t ask for Patron! I didn’t even TASTE PATRON!!! They charged me $16 for a patron-less margarita and 2 nasty entrees. I definitely WONT be back.

The most unorganized brunch spot I’ve ever been to.. My friend and i went for brunch sometime in October. When we arrived after getting our wristbands we headed up stairs. We weren’t greeted, we had to ask the bartender how does the seating work. Someone finally approached us to seat us. After sitting for a few we realized everything was self served. We went to the bar for our mimosas. There was no food sat out and the food that was it was very picked over. It had been about 20 minutes before they brought anything else out and because so many people were waiting the line was so long and when it went down no food once again. After about 45 minutes of being there the woman came around to cut our wristbands so that we weren’t able to get anymore drinks or food. Very disappointed and would never go back or recommend this spot to anyone!!!!but the atmosphere was definitely nice. Waste of 175 dollars!!!

I decided to try Citizens for Sunday brunch. I dined downstairs where the decor and ambience had warm and welcoming vibes. The staff are efficient and professional and appear to have good teamwork in place. I ordered a bottle of house champagne and a carafe of pineapple juice to make my own mimosas. To eat, I ordered scrambled shell eggs with cheese and spinach, steak and mac & cheese. The champagne was delicious! Not too brut. The food on the other hand was beyond disappointing. Each food menu item is $5 sure, but the steak was flavorless, luke warm and TOUGH. I could literally hear my teeth grinding hard to try and break a sliver a part. The eggs were not shell eggs but rather a premix (maybe boxed?) despite me specifically requesting shell. Overall, it felt like the brunch items were precooked and in a buffet tray in the back then scooped and served. The spinach was concentrated in the center so they may have sautéed and added to the top, with cheese. The Mac and cheese is definitely not BPM&C so don’t get your hopes up there. Overall, despite the mediocre dishes, the service was good and I will likely try to come back for dinner to see what that produces. ** I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt that they mass produce for brunch because of the rush and that these items aren’t individually prepared upon order. **

This place was a huge disappointment. The food looked great but had no flavor whatsoever. The crab, corn drip is missing the crab and it came out lukewarm. The drinks were watered down. The my main course came out well done and had no flavor just a dash of rosemary on the top. I had to send it back and ask for them to recook it and add some salt or something. When it came back it was still tasteless. I felt like I wasted my money. The waitress was nice but she had no clue what items they had and didn’t have which was a bit concerning. The atmosphere is nice but nothing too great. I hated the fact that it has unisex bathrooms it was weird walking into a restroom with men and very uncomfortable. I understand this is a new restaurant but I won’t be returning. Now let’s get to the lounge! Trash is all I can say the staff was rude and disrespectful especially the girl with the short blond/ pink hair she needs to be fired. We were there for a friends party and she definitely doesn’t know how to conduct herself in an escalated situation. As me and my girlfriend was standing outside she made some very smart and rude remarks causing more conflict. I think this place needs new employees and new training I wouldn’t recommend this place if your looking for good food or a good time.

First time n I was please with the food. My cocktail was weak needs more alcohol but is ok. So I just ordered a Beer and it was cold. Yes I will go back to try different things. Waitress Veronica had nerves to say to us are you tipping🤔well I was. The place is cute and floor manager came over for intro which was nice n yes we gave her 20% n cash but should have been 10%.

Phenomenal brunch at a very reasonable price. Takesways: 1. Food was very delicious (there was a delay on refilling french toast and the grits were initially burle, but they definitely made up for it with taste......of note, eggs to order are an additional cost); 2. Outstanding atmosphere with good customer service; 3. impressed by cleaningness of bathroom, and sensitivity to unisex needs

Updating as I have been a few more times since the original posting; it is fine but nothing stellar, have had some just okay dishes & drinks. Really good vibes and super friendly staff. I sat at the bar; service was good, bartender seemed incredibly knowledgeable. I got the Basil & Barb + kimchi fritters; both were delicious.
