"Smack in the middle of the shiny new Manhattan West development is Citizens, an upscale food hall from boutique hotel empire builder Sam Nazarian. Grab-and-go spots for grain bowls, fried chicken, and burgers are bookended by two more ambitious establishments at either end of the hall: Casa Dani, from acclaimed Spanish chef Dani García, and Katsuya, a celebrity-favorite sushi spot imported from Los Angeles." - Eater Staff

This place is a fantastic food court! 🍱 Citizens Culinary Market 🍴 at Manhattan West 🗽 houses a wide variety of delicious 🤤 food stands 🍽️ - definitely go for the Umami Burger 🍔 and Cindy Lou's Cookies! 🍪 They place has so much to offer! Grab your order to-go 🥡 or stay as they have indoor seating.🪑 It's super easy to place an order to any restaurants here using the large digital tablet kiosks! 📲 I wish I came here more often!

A nice brief stop at this trendy Food hall. This dining experience had several vegan options. This is great for spot for traveling. you get a nice dining experience to eat on the go or sit down and enjoy dinner with a group. I will be back to try something else when I’m in the area.

Really great new food court that opened up in Hudson yards. I tried the Truffle burger from Umami Burgers and 2 Spicy tuna Krispy rice pieces from Krispy Rice. Both were great. The food court is very new and modern, and especially clean. The restroom is also very new, clean, and fully staffed as well. Would definitely need to come back soon to try the other restaurants!

Fancy high end take out (or eat in) canteen with multiple restaurants to choose from. Went for the Mediterranean place. Came here during busy lunch hours so had to wait for a bit. Although there were options to choose the base from (rice, pita, etc) they only had the rice option available with four sides and one protein of your choice. Big size but was $20! Pretty surprised with the high prices but I guess it’s from the high rent they need to cover… will come but not too often. Prefer the whole foods hot foods canteen

Amazing space within Manhattan West. Great place with niche and top class food eats. Great meeting point, although there is no shortage of meeting spaces in the neighborhood. Citizens has some great quality food. Tried the Umami and Sam’s Chicken. From Umami - The Reggiano Burger Smashed Double Patties, Dashi Onions, Parmesan Cheese, Bacon, Pesto, Balsamic Sauce on a Squishy Bun. From Sam’s - Sam’s The BBQ Sandwich - Cornflake Crusted Chicken Breast yseasoned seasoned in our signature Sam's New Orleans style spice, tossed in BBQ sauce, in between a toasted brioche bun with pickles, shredded romaine, and mayo

This review is solely based on the encounter with who appeared to be the manager, named Elvis at El Pollo Verde. My sister and I grabbed seats inside the Citizens Market after getting some food from Daily Provisions in the same plaza. Unfortunately, they had forgotten to give us forks, so my sister went over to the first shop to ask for forks politely. However, Elvis must have been having a bad day because he snapped at my sister, telling her to bring her own next time. I then went over because he called me back to grab the forks, and he told me the same thing in the same aggressive tone. I declined his offer of forks and went over to Plant Nation, who had no issue giving us forks. To Elvis, be kind! Not bitter. The world needs more good than bad."

Low quality environment - security constantly staring - weird time-hours of operation - limited food option (repetitive menus) - suited doorman staring…why? They need different management system…less aggressive/controlling environment, more menu (Thai, etc…), hours of operation need to be broaden, etc…

Go-to lunch spot for corporate employees around, you will get many options of decent food. Downsides- wait time is long, costlier than Whole Foods.

Yelp
Citizens is another of the trendy high end Food Courts. They've been popping up around Manhattan recently in areas where there's frequently high rise offices. It's sophisticated and expensive. There's a good variety of food choices. You are greeted by the security at the entrance. You must show proof of vaccination to enter. I was going to Cindy Lou's Cookies. They are part of the Citizens Cooperative so I had to enter through the Citizens entrance. They have their own outside entrance but it's locked. I'm hoping to spend more time visiting this part of Manhattan. I plan to try more of the food offerings in the Citizen's Food Court. Check it out when you are nearby. You may as well since Moynihan Food Hall still isn't open!! Just remember if you are on a budget there's other options along 33 Street that are more reasonably priced.

Yelp
Great time. Went for Happy Hour in a Friday, none of the drinks or beer were my thing, but I'm picky. The bartender was great, really nice guy! Kept the popcorn coming (it is absolutely delicious, which he'd tell us what goes on it, tastes like chicken soup in the best way). Love all the options for food, makes it nice to go with a group. Only which is that they were open later, most of the vendors close at 8.

Yelp
A little bit on the pricier end, but I would say the food is pretty good here- and they have a lot of selections. There is a couple sushi spots inside, but what was really good was the chicken sandwich. However, the wait was a little long even though it was near closing time around 6:30pm where there were not too many people.

Yelp
Interesting food court! Expensive, but something to try. I had a really unique and delicious beet salad from Plant Nation

Yelp
I'm used to exploring ghost kitchens and different types of food halls. I had to check Citizens NY out as it is across from the shops at The Vessel/Hudson Yards. You order at a machine where it shows you the variety of foods from different restaurants within Citizens. They drop the order off at a table and you pick up the food there. You can eat there as well. We didn't wait that long for the food. The ramen we had was fantastic, from the broth to the meat and noodles. The cookie was super large for a PB&J. I thought they all provided great service and a nice selection of foods. They didn't have many people for a Friday night.

Yelp
Placed an order for Krispy Rice through Uber Eats and after over an hour wait, it was cancelled by the merchant. I was really looking forward to trying it but was left starving. If you can't fulfill app orders, don't sign up.

Yelp
The service speeds are horrible. At 3:30pm on a Tuesday, I waited 20 minutes for a burger and fries. I've been here several times as I work and live very close by - it's even worse during rush hours. They are woefully understaffed and the service speeds are so bad that I would not advise you to 'pick up something quick'. You may get your food faster at a sit down restaurant. Attention SBE/Brookfield Asset Management. I work nearby and the consensus of almost everyone at my company is that it is not worth going to your food court for lunch because how slow service is. Basic axiom of running a foodservice business is speed of service = frequency. Hope you take the hint. In terms of the food, these are all brands incubated by SBE: -Umami Burger (there's one in the Fidi food court) is my favorite. It's actually really good. Very greasy and messy so do not advise if you are in business casual -Sam's Chicken: knockoff version of Chick Fil A / Popeyes / Fuku. I've only had the nashville hot burger and they went overboard on the oil -Cicci di Carne: italian foccacia sandwiches. Their warm sandwiches are quite good for what it is. The bread is soft -The mediterranean place: they only have chicken, no beef or lamb. I guess that's the woke thing to do these days. It's alright. Not as good as Naya Express -Haven't tried the Mexican chicken place -This Asian noodle place. Pretty mediocre and small portions -Haven't tried the sushi/'sticky rice' place -Cookie place: meh It's funny to me that these are a collection of brands curated to be as unoffensive as possible to the tastes of the average white dude working at the EY upstairs. Nothing particularly interesting from a culinary point of view despite how they brand it; it's all very basic categories. Like come on... 'cloudy pork ramen'... just call it tonkotsu man.

Yelp
I liked the ambience - definitely a bit more "trendy", but not too particularly offputting. The food was pretty well prepared, I feel, although I can hardly consider myself a food hall connoisseur. Hardly outstanding, but I would happily eat here again. I came in closer to closing time, so preparation was quite quick for my meal - some tempura and sushi from Krispy Rice and a truffle burger from Umami Burger - at about 10 minutes. I was surprised that they close so early, however. 6 on a Sunday felt to me like it was missing quite a bit of potential business.

Yelp
The actual food hall is very nice but expect large crowds and long waits during lunch hour. I think the selection of restaurants is great tho! Ever since I started working around here, I've only been going to Whole Foods for lunch and this is a great change of scenery. I will say, most of the places are on the pricier side, so I personally don't see myself in eating here everyday during the work week. The app is also great. I'm able to preorder from my phone and pick it up downstairs!

Yelp
Horrified by the terrible customer service here. I ordered online on the app, spent time and money to pick up my food, only to get there and find that the restaurant I ordered from (and all restaurants inside Citizens except for Casa Dani) were closed before I even had put the order in. Why was the app accepting orders if the restaurant was closed? I complained to get a refund and expected a meaningful apology and compensation for this negative experience only to get an emailing apologizing that I showed up late to receive my order (incorrect) and a refund. Only after complaining time and time again did they give me a $5 gift card. You literally can't even get a side of friends here with that. Not only was wasting my time and money with the app order incident terrible, but the customer service just goes to show they don't give a crap about their customers. Will never eat here again and don't recommend others do either. Others have also complained about the takeout experience here so order at your own risk.

Yelp
Brand new food court/culinary market opening in the heart of Hudson Yards. Businesses opening include Umami Burger, Sa'Moto, El Pollo Verde, Soom Soom, Casa Dani, Sam's Crispy Chicken, Cindy Lou's Cookies, Katsuya, Krispy Rice, S Bar, and Plant Nation. They also released a new app to order food called GO by Citizens. Seems like a great place to get lunch during work hours for businesses located in the Hudson Yards area. Prices do reflect this though, and I didn't see too many cheap cheap options. The food seems great though so I hope people think it's worth it!

Yelp
They welcomed me into the space but failed to say they were closing in 5 minutes. i checked menus at each vendor then tried to order and was told they were closed none of the six vendors that had been open 5 minutes before would allow me to order. im starving and very annoyed.

SJ P.

Yelp
If you're looking for an experience that feels like the food court in an airport you've found it! Like most of Hudson Yards it's more generic branding and pretentious design that says nothing about New York City and everything about its developer.

Melinda B.

Yelp
As another commenter mentioned, the service speed here is absolutely terrible, and I was there at 2:30pm on a Monday when it was mostly empty. Then, when I got my food (Krispy Rice) it tasted as though some ingredients were stale and/or had gone bad. The staff also wasn't friendly and the whole place seemed like it wasn't particularly clean. This place needs to take a hard look at its operations staff, because they seem to be sleeping on the job. Sorry, I work at EY so wanted to love this place!!! None of my colleagues will go anymore :( Plus the employees all seem MISERABLE.
