The Kind-Of-Healthy Hit List

"At this point, there are probably more Australian coffee shops in NYC than there are in Australia. Citizens of Gramercy (which, not too surprisingly, is from the same people behind Citizens of Chelsea) is one of them. They serve breakfast all day, in addition to various bowls that are made with everything from bee pollen and granola to quinoa and edamame. They also serve a few different sandwiches, plus beer and wine. Try this place for a breakfast meeting or a quick lunch with a friend." - bryan kim, matt tervooren

Where To Go With Someone Who’s “Just Reaching Out” To See How You Like Working At Your Company - New York - The Infatuation

"Much like Banter, Citizens of Gramercy is an Australian coffee shop with both food and alcohol, and it’s another place where you can hang out for 30 minutes, talk to someone about his or her career path, then say, “Oh shoot, I have to meet the cable guy,” and leave. Although if you’re enjoying the conversation, there’s no need to rush, and you have food options ranging from avocado toast to a short rib sandwich." - Bryan Kim

I ordered the golden French toast. It’s the worst food experience I’ve had in a while. The brioche is covered by a lot of really sweet syrupy cream that does not taste good or complementing in any way. There was a number of sour berries(with an overflow of juice) and some crunchy caramel candies lying in the plate. I would guess the idea is to complement the intense sweetness of the syrupy cream. But it just does not work. It feels like this was only set up for the aesthetics but no concern for taste whatsoever. I had two bites and just cannot continue eating it. My husband ordered the cast iron egg brekki and it was not good either.

One of my favorite places for brunch! The food and service is pretty good. The only sad thing, is that she they changed their menu and took out some of my favorite plates. The new breaking sandwich is not as good as the original menu. Too much bread and not enough filling. I miss the old Brekki Sandwich and the old tortilla bowl!

Really great spot to have brunch. Loved the aesthetic and set up of the cafe. The menu was vegetarian friendly which was a plus and it had a broad range or savory to sweet brunch options. We got the avocado toast which was really quite delicious, but the star of the show was the golden French toast. It was like a fun surprise with every bite. Really great spot to go with friends or even by yourself! I really enjoyed and it will for sure be returning.

Google
The inside is cute and I enjoyed the shakshuka. The side pita chips felt a little oily, but were still good! My friend enjoyed the eggs benny. Neither of us was blown away, but cute brunch place & very friendly service. Thank you :)

Google
The place is lovely, my friend and I had a good time over there. The food looks amazing and the coffee was just right for me. I ordered a cortado and baked eggs (pictures below). However, one of the spoon was caked with some leftovers when it got to our table. I couldn’t get that out of my mind. Thankfully, the service staff was friendly and responsive and they took care of it immediately. The food portions were generous and dishes look very polished. I enjoyed my time here except for the caked spoon part. The location is amazing but for the price point, I think you can do better in the neighborhood.

Google
What a cute cafe! You can get breakfast items all day as well as some very fresh veggie bowls. I had a cold brew coffee with a Belgium waffle and a side of the potatoes. The waffle was a little on the smaller side but it was served with fruits and a hazelnut crumble, it was such a fusion of flavors, definitely worth it! My friend ordered the wellness bowl which was a huge portion and very filling. Everything served was very fresh and very flavorful. They have a variety of breakfast drinks available and hopefully will have cocktails, beer and wine soon. I would visit again to try some other items on the menu. Our server was awesome as well!

I know Citizens has many different locations throughout the city. I enjoy this spot because it’s in the cut. I do feel the employees could be more attentive to the people walking in. You feel kinda awkward when you walk in because you can’t tell if it’s over the counter service or pick a table. I ended up ordering at the counter for food to stay, but then told to pick a table. Told waiter same order when they approached me. Everything else went smooth and well. Got my meal & the waiter was super nice. It’s a chill spot. Do feel they need to pick between Cafe or restaurant vibes having them both is complicated.

I stopped in for breakfast randomly while I was taking a walk because it smelled so good from the street. The cheddar and chive biscuits were soooo gooood (everything I ordered was pretty good). Definitely coming back for those. Staff was pleasant and attentive :)

Yelp
Citizens was such a darling in the coffee world when they first came onto the scene, with picturesque lattes and beautiful cafe interiors. So many flocked to the original location in Chelsea for their caffeine fix. When they opened just a block away from me in Gramercy, I was so excited I didn't mind they replaced a well loved coffee shop that used to occupy the space. Unfortunately, time and time again the food has proved overpriced and underwhelming. I tried it many times before skipping over it for years, despite it being down the street from me. I recently gave it another try because the banana bread french toast sounded really good. This too was disappointing, with tiny portions and a cloying sweetness. Even worse, the chicken harissa bowl had a sour, vinegary flavor and I later got ill. I can't know for sure it was caused by this but I can say for certain the flavor was very bad. I don't mind paying a premium for quality food but when the food is this bad, it's hard to justify the expense. It pains me to pen a critical review about a place that's practically in my backyard, but after giving this place more chances than I can count, I feel compelled to share my experience.

Yelp
Do not come here for breakfast! I should have trusted my instincts and fled. We walked in and it was empty. A man who was slumped at a table in the back corner, who gave off strong 'mayor of Schitt's Creek' vibes (and/or weirdo who lives in their parents' basement in Queens), scurried to the door to announce that there was no longer table service, just order at the counter and get a number. As we grabbed a tattered and dirty menu he proceeded to start dancing (a la Ted Lasso) and bump into us. He then announced he had to go in the back to watch his show. He sat at the back table with earbuds in cackling like a hyena for the duration of our meal. I got overnight oats which were supposed to come with fresh seasonal fruit. Instead they came with shriveled up blueberries that were obviously from a can. The overnight night oats were in scoops, like it was tuna fish and there was sad blueberry water pooled around it. 2/10 My friend's hot chocolate was served cold and he also got the sad blueberries. 0/10 At some point during breakfast the weirdo manager dude stuck cups under his shirt as pretend b**bs and strutted down the aisle like it was a runway. There was one other person in there and we both evacuated after that. The walls were dirty, there were random wires everywhere and it just really seemed like no one cared at all about this restaurant at all.

Yelp
Came here after a Pilates class for a quick bite. It was very quiet (fourth of July) and the staff was super friendly :) Food itself was good. They had other options that looked great but I was in the mood for something light. I also ordered an iced americano and that was very tasty as well. The ambience is great. I like how they have high top tables at the entrance and past that it's a laptop zone free area, so appreciate the versatility. I'd definitely go back and try other items on the menu!

Yelp
Walked in on a random Saturday afternoon because we happened to be close by and was so impressed with everything! - service : the inside was full but we got offered and seated right away at an outside table. The extremely competent and kind server took order within minutes, changed chair because there was a screw loose, and brought out the food literally faster than anywhere we have eaten recently (tops 5 mins) - food : we had the above toast and the big breakkie and both were AMAZING. The best about toast I've had anywhere in the city. One of the managers thoughtfully offered to bring out some hot sauce and it was also beyond excellent. The coffee was strong and so flavorful. - ambiance - many people can in with dogs and the staff thoughtfully offered to bring out water for the "babies". That tells you everything you need to know about the ambiance. Five exceptional stars, everyone must come by!

Yelp
I swear everyone has been gate-keeping Australian food from me!! I wasn't sure what to expect when I came to this place at a friend's recommendation, but wow, am I happy I followed it. + We ordered the chicken harissa plate - delicious AND healthy. I loved it so much I came back for it the week after. + We also enjoyed the chai. - I'd skip the cast iron eggs (nothing too special about it). While we were there, the wait staff was super responsive and friendly. We didn't have to wait but we came at an off-peak hour. The next time we came (peak hours/brunch), they said there was only one seat available and we'd have to leave after 90 mins. I also appreciated the menu and decor which was on-brand and quirky.

Yelp
super cute brunch cafe near Gramercy Park! Personally I felt it's pricey for the portion you get (my golden french toast was $15 for one piece of toast)

Yelp
Desirae, an amazingly passionate barista, co-mger, back and front of the house, super committed individual- keeps this wonderful, neighborhood healthy restaurant & coffee house community vibe popping- - absolutely love starting my day here- wish there were later hours a few days of the week! - food a 10, vibe -10, always great staff- unfortunately today, restroom presented challenges requiring - new pipes etc- however -we know Deserae worked double time insuring she both served take out , coffee & pastries - while problem solving - love love this wonderful corner space /restaurant / where community meets

Yelp
Service was slow when we walked in and got seated. The restaurant itself is quite small and narrow and felt too hot inside even with the doors open. I got the big brekky and my avocado had liquid in it (? old / not fresh ?) but I was too hungry to send it back and question it. The party next to us used the chairs next to us for their purses -- I highly recommend that the establishment have hooks for bags / jackets. I've been to Citizens of Chelsea multiple times and this location just didn't do it for me.

Yelp
Came in for bottomless brunch with a friend recently. We were surprised that they had a bottomless option, so of course we went with that. I liked that they had some other juice options besides orange. Got a great passionfruit juice mimosa. For food, I went with the BBQ Brekkie Bowl. It was hearty and super filling. Loved the pulled pork with runny egg mix. Would absolutely get this again! My friend got the Cast Iron Baked Eggs, that also looked amazing, basically stewed eggs in a personal little pot. Can't wait to come back and try more from the menu!

Yelp
Stopped in for Sunday brunch. I enjoy all the Australian restaurants in Manhattan but this one was just O.K. (2.5 stars). Didn't even really have many Australian options (vegemite, sausage rolls, etc). The menu was limited but the aesthetic was there. The food was cold and took a while (seems like it was just sitting at the kitchen top but no one was there to serve it). Ordered the Cast Iron Baked Eggs (small portion, nothing special) and Big Brekkie. Service is O.K. There are better spots in the area.

Yelp
After a less than great experience at Sunflower nearby, we stumbled upon Citizens and decided to eat there instead and I'm happy we did. The service was great and the food even better. We sat outside at the covered patio and though it was not cooled, the shade protected us nicely from the sun. My salmon benny on the cheddar biscuit was sublime. My friend got the green goddess shakshuka and didn't really enjoy it but my other friends both got the biscuit sandwich and loved it. The star of the show though was definitely the waffle. So good but so small for $15. Was it worth it? Maybe??? Do I dream about it? Yes. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I went to this place for brunch with a friend. I like that with the menu, all of the options are healthy and they are also appealing. The best of all is that the food tasted great. Service was friendly and fast. I also like the calm and bright environment of the restaurant which is perfect for brunch.

Yelp
My friends and I came as walk-ins. We did not have to wait at all and the waiters were all so friendly. After we finished eating they did not immediately bring the check and let us talk for a while longer. This may have been because it was an off time, as we were some of the only people in the restaurant, but it was very nice not to be rushed out! The food was great! I had a large iced coffee with almond milk. The almond milk came in a tiny milk pitcher to share. We were charged for both coffees having almond milk, but only got the tiny pitcher. It was enough for the two of us to split, but we also like our coffees on the darker side. I split the brisket burger and egg brekkie sandwich with one of my friends. First off, both of these burger/sandwiches were really easy to cut. Normally if you try cutting a burger or egg sandwich in half it just falls apart but these were so easy to cut so I'd recommend sharing with your friends if you get the chance! I really enjoyed the brisket burger. It was nicely balance and the flavor all smelted together. The egg sandwich was also really delicious, I would just recommend trying the tomato chutney before closing your sandwich. My friend and I both didn't like it so we scraped it off. My last note is that the menu online is not necessarily up to date. A lot of what is on the online menu is not what was on the menu that we received. For example, the Beef Brisket Burger says it comes with chicken salted fries on the website menu, but mine came with an arugula salad. I did not plan to come here so I did not look at the menu ahead of time, so I'm not sure if this is the only thing. I would definitely expect a few changes if you're someone who reads the menu ahead of time.

Yelp
Mediocre sandwich. Ordered takeout. Should have opted for a bodega sandwich instead. Not worth it for the price $$$.

Yelp
I love coming here for coffee! They serve partner coffee and have great hot coffee and cold brew, you really can't go wrong! As someone who's probably been here 50+ times it's such a bummer they don't have any hearty vegan options. I would come here 2-3 times/week if they had a vegan breakfast sandwich, burrito, burger, or hearty vegan salad. I tried to ask them once if their veggie burger was vegan and had a ridiculously hard time getting the chef to read the bag's label that the bread came in. It was clear she was not interested in accommodating their vegan customers so can't give a perfect score but every other person I've encountered here is positively delightful!

Yelp
I LOVE citizens of chelsea and expected to have a similar experience here, but all of our food was cold :( flavors were still pretty good, but the temperature of the eggs/meat was off-putting.

Yelp
TL;DR Average brunch, basically no wait on Saturday but the trade-off comes in the fare. Roommates and I went to this place because it was extremely close to where we live. Food (3/5) - We ordered the 1) cast iron baked eggs - basically a lighter shakshuka with respect to spices, served in a cute one-person sized dutch oven and toasted whole grain brioche fingers - soft and very fresh. 2) Cheddar biscuit brekkie sandwich - scrambled eggs, bacon, gruyere, ad tomato chutney in a cheddar-chive biscuit, with a side salad. Dish lived up to the hype of the description with the exception that the biscuit was a little burnt. 3) Spicy tomato chorizo breakfast wrap - other stuffings included cannellini, sweet peppers, eggs, potato and cheese. Pretty good breakfast burrito, the tomato chorizo was an interesting (nice!) touch, good mix of chunky and smooth, eggs were scrambled and not overdone. Plating and presentation was clean, crisp and instagram-worthy. Drink (4/5) - drip coffee was good, smooth and pungent. The themed lattes are cute, one of us got the golden latte and the ginger-turmeric was a nice pick-me-up on a lazy Saturday afternoon. Ambiance (5/5) - Music wasn't too loud, inside was bright and light, other diners were friendly. Lots of dogs at the outdoor seating area. Service (4/5) - Walked in and was seated almost immediately. One of the members of our party was late and servers were respectful - we felt a bit apologetic but they didn't make much of it! Although, one of us ordered additional avocado, didn't come with the dish and was charged for it. Also asked for milk to go with the coffee and servers forgot about it. Everything was fixed eventually. Price (5/5) - fair for NYC. $10-15 for most brunch plates, $20 for larger plates like burgers. Covid - Customary vaccine card check, tables are fairly spaced out. Staff are fairly respectful of distancing (as much as is possible) and masking. All in all, decent place if you need something and are not picky, but would not treat it as a destination.

Thank you Xaviero for your wonderful service, im from out of town and was so welcome. Jeffer, Xaviero, and Ron were so welcoming.

Yelp
Cute little cafe with great indoor and outdoor seating! Don't have any complaints, the service is always good and the menu is expansive & classic brunch and breakfast options with a twist. Also good for working from home!

Yelp
Such a delicious, cute, and quick breakfast spot. Very insta worthy decor and plating of foods is picturesque. Love the healthy and delicious options. Miso mushrooms were to die for!! Servers were kind and quick to get us whatever we needed. Ask for their homemade hot sauces!

Yelp
Decent spot for brunch - morning glory bowl was a bit underwhelming (tasted like a regular salad with a lemon vinaigrette dressing). I would've preferred to dine outside as the inside space smelled like cooking oil. Chai latte was also very sweet and came in a rather small glass.

Yelp
A beautiful brunch at one of my favorite cafes in NYC! We started off with some matcha lattes, coffee, and the golden latte. The latte art was so pretty, and the drinks tasted really good too! We also had to get some of their cocktails, so we tried the espresso martini, the kiwi margarita, and their blueberry lime ricci. My favorite was their blueberry like ricci! It was so refreshing! Onto our food... I got their famous Smashing Avocado with feta, lime, and cilantro on thick cut multigrain toast. It was also topped with pickled onion, radish, pumpkin seeds, and beetroot hummus. We also got the BBQ Brekkie Bowl which comes with garlicky smashed potatoes, bbq braised pork, soft poached eggs, pickled red onion, avocado, cilantro, and chipotle hollandaise. I did not even know they had a burger on their menu, but my dad tried the Burger with the Lot and said it was delicious. That came with double decker brisket, vermont cheddar cheese, pickled beets, bacon, and an egg. My dad loved the perfectly cooked egg. Lastly, Parker (the manager) recommended the Green Goddess Shashuka, which came with tomatillo, poblano, cannellini beans, kale, spinach, green goddess, feta, poached eggs, and pumpkin seeds. The dish also came with zaatar pita chips to eat along with the shashuka. Everything was so good and I will definitely have to come back to try more of their food items. Thank you again to Parker and staff for their amazing service. Everyone was super kind and helpful in recommending what to order! Definitely check any of their locations out if you haven't already. They have locations in Gramercy, Chelsea, and Soho!

Yelp
I've been here a couple times and despite what appears to be a limited menu, there's something for everyone, and at a very affordable value. The staff is also very pleasant to interact with. So far I've tried the Banana French toast and the brekkie platter and they've both been very tasty. Their lattes are also pretty quality. Space inside can be limited at times, especially at peak brunch hours. Love this cute little spot and will be frequenting this spot as much as possible!
google avatar

Yelp
Cute little brunch spot with yummy food at a good price point. I was really hungry so got the cheddar brekkie sandwich although the other sweet breakfast options sounded so good. Staff was friendly. I wish they had smoothie/acai bowls though :( I think they used to but not anymore. Definitely want to try the chelsea location too

Victoria S.

Yelp
Yummy coffee and the staff are so kind and hard working!! Definitely recommend coming in if you're in the area. Flat white is good!

Yelp
I have never had a less than delicious meal here. My personal favorite and go-to is the BBQ Brekkie Bowl. What's not to love? Poached egg, boiled potatoes, chipotle Hollandaise, loads of pulled pork, dash of pickled onion, and not to mention HALF of an avocado. DELISH. Be sure or order the Chai latte with your meal. Hot or iced it's excellent... and I am hard to please with my chai lattes. Honorable mention to the staff. Everyone is SO lovely. I've always had exceptional service. I only wish they were open for dinner!

Yelp
Amazing food, service, price and location. I highly recommend the chorizo breakfast and Nutella French toast. Even my picky eaters were satisfied. We will definitely be back again!

Yelp
Love the food and good portions. Come here and enjoy a coffee to go our dine in for a great experience and atmosphere. Next time I'm in NYC I'll be sure to come back. Naomi was a great server as well! Thank you Gramercy!

Yelp
Had time to kill so stopped here with my girlfriend. We opted to sit outside because it was cramped inside. The server said he would get waters and be right out in 30 seconds. 20 minutes went by before anyone came but unfortunately between the 20 minutes and not having extra time to wait for food to be prepared, we ended up just ordering an iced latte and cheddar biscuit since we were already there before leaving. When the server came out with coffee, he spilled water on my girlfriends bag. He apologized about the slow service but at that point there wasn't any point in ordering since it took 20 min for someone to come and we only had 40 minutes to spare. The iced latte was good and the cheddar biscuit was alright. I wish service was better because we liked the menu options.
google avatar

Yelp
If you love brunch and are into Instagram aesthetics, you'll need to make a visit to this cute spot. My friend and I started our day here on a Monday, so it was not crowded. Once I walked in, I was obsessed with the decor and can't really imagine it being a brunch location, but so glad it is. We ordered the Pulled Pork Benny, the Salmon Eggs, and of course, mimosas! Out of the two benedicts, I really liked the Pulled Pork and thought it was pretty flavorful, however, my friend really liked the Salmon Eggs since the salmon were smoked very well - super super fresh! Honestly, after I found out about this place, I wanted to come here to take pictures, but not only does it give off California vibes, the visually pleasing presentation and the taste of the food blew my mind. To all NYC tourists and travelers: add this to your itinerary!

Yelp
Citizens of Gramercy is a nice, casual brunch spot to hit if you're looking for homey comfort food. The reason I'm giving this a 4/5 is because overall, I felt like the food prices were a little steep for what they are as a restaurant, but if you come here you're not likely to be disappointed. The restaurant is quite small, so if you want to eat here it might be worth it to make a reservation especially if it's a Sunday morning. My 2 friends and I got seated in 10 minutes with no reservation on a Saturday afternoon though, so it's possible for the wait time to not be terrible! FOOD: Rosé Mimosa (4/5) - This mimosa was a bit strong for my liking but the concept was quite interesting and I did get quite a buzz from just one drink. Breakfast sandwich (4/5) - The breakfast sandwich was definitely a solid order but I thought the eggs were quite bland and there wasn't enough lemon aioli to make a difference in the sandwich flavor. Charging $3 for a few slices of avocado also felt too expensive seeing as the sandwich kind of needed it for texture and taste. Pork Benedict (5/5) - I loved this dish a lot. The garlic potatoes really added some excitement and flavor to a classic brunch dish. The pulled pork was made to perfection, with great sauce and seasoning, and the chipotle hollandaise was out of this world! Definitely get this dish if you go. Poached eggs and salmon (4/5) - There was supposed to be no sauce on the eggs and salmon, which I thought to be a bit strange as poached eggs can taste really watery with nothing to thicken and balance them. When my friend asked for a side of Hollandaise, the dish definitely tasted better, but I wonder why they don't just add something to the top of the eggs (it doesn't even have to be Hollandaise!).

Yelp
My goodness, what a good find this place is! After getting done at the VA Medical Center nearby, I searched for a good place to eat on my Yelp app. Lo and behold, I found Citizens of Gramercy. I walked in to this brightly decorated restaurant. The staff was friendly and attentive. I sat down and sipped on coffee while I went through their menu. I decided on the avocado toast, with beet hummus and poached eggs. The food was delicious! And the coffee had the right amount of caffeine I needed to carry out the rest of the day. I chatted with the staff here a bit, and it turned out that the waitress was also from California. Pretty cool, I've ran into quite a few people from home here in NYC already. This place set a good impression. The next time I go to the VA, I will consider stopping here for lunch.

Cassidy J.

Yelp
I came in this afternoon and was greeted by a server named Xavier, I had ordered eggs Benny with a velvet latte and boy I was wondering who made my velvet latte because it was delicious. Xavier was very polite, genuine, hands on, and on time with my order. I hope by me leaving this review the gentleman will be given the recognition for his amazing service. thank you again for this amazing service I will definitely come back and visit again.

Yelp
I live a block from here and decided it was finally time to try it out. My parents came into the city for lunch around 11:30am as we were walking I added myself to the waitlist on Yelp (or else we wouldn't have come). Super convenient! I ordered the chicken sando which was super moist and lovely (7/10). The focaccia was light and had rosemary baked right in all nice. My mother ordered the chicken miso bowl (5/10). My dad ordered the pulled pork eggs eggs benedict (him and I gave it a rating of 8/10) which were also again very moist, eggs cooked perfectly but I wish there was more spice to the chipotle hollandaise! Come in and try for yourself. Everyone was super nice, great lively music and Armondo was super helpful-- the nicest server ever!!!!

Yelp
Decent spot and a nice atmosphere for a casual meal (I've been for brunch and lunch) but I personally don't think the menu is special and the portion sizes are not very filling. I've stopped by for drinks which are decent but expensive for what it is. Still, a solid choice if you're in the area and looking to catch up with a friend.
google avatar

Yelp
It's fine, as other people have said. Nothing is top quality, including the service and atmosphere, but the prices aren't terrible, and there is nothing wrong. I just popped in for a coffee and a pastry. They use Partners coffee--was hoping for something better. I just had a drip, because the coffee was roasted for filter, and they were using the same coffee on espresso...may have been fine, but I didn't want to take my chances. Ended up with two pastries because the prices were decent. They were both satisfying, even if not delicious. The store was a little run down, and not super clean. I wouldn't have wanted to eat there frankly. Would only return in a pinch.

Yelp
This place is cute and has healthier brunch food options. What's not to like?! Food wise, I feel you cannot go wrong with their cheddar biscuit brekkie ($14) or the cast iron baked eggs ($15). Drink wise, trying to be fancy with a touch of color? Let your awesome server know that you'll take a velvet (beetroot), golden (ginger + turmeric), or matcha latte ($6). There are four locations in Manhattan I believe (this one, Chelsea, Bleeker, and Soho) and I recommend checking out a pulsd deal if they're still going.

Yelp
Disappointing. A friend and I had lunch here a few days ago. We both chose the Belgian Waffle which I had eaten before and remembered it fondly. What came was a far cry from my memory. A small waffle, burnt underneath one side and served quite cold. Food prices have gone up in the City and around the world but charging $15 for what is a much smaller size of the waffle is thoroughly disappointing. We both had coffees with the waffle. Neither of us are keen to return.

Yelp
Just a dirty, disgusting place. We were seated next to a leaking ac vent with the water pouring down into a bucket. The whole place looks run down and unappealing. We ran out of there as fast as we could

Yelp
I can't not describe how bad it was, I was just looking for a quick bite. I barely finished the sandwich, bread was old and cold, the pulled pork was far away from BBQ style, it looked like simmered in tomato paste, was also a bit cold. Wanted the fries "no fries" asked for the salad and it was not edible, old mixed green salad, over dressed. I just hope I don't get sick.

Yelp
A new seasonal favorite has made place in my heart: the coconut milk overnight fruit mueslis

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of the citizens of brunch spots, and gramercy is no different! If you're looking for fresh clean ingredients and a healthy but delicious brunch that satisfies all your cravings, this is def the spot. They also have super cute decor inside and colorful cups that scream 'Sunday brunch'. I got the citizens breakkie, which had the classic eggs and avocado. I subbed the bacon for salmon. Everything was very solid, and big fan of their toast. Tip: I always get flat white for coffee - if you've never had one, def try it! It's one of Australia's greatest inventions in my mind. Outdoor seating could be warmer, so bundle up because the heaters aren't very strong...

Yelp
Quick easy pick up everything was great. Got the chorizo breakfast wrap and an oat matcha latte. Def wanna go back for a dine in experience. Looks like a nice chill spot with friendly staff

Yelp
Came here on New Year's Day and were seated right away. Different from Citizens of Chelsea where you order at the counter and get your food - this was table service. Overall the service was polite and the decor trendy. Food came quickly and was good, just a little small portion wise. Very good if you're looking for a healthy breakfast. They have gluten free options and dairy free milk as well.

Yelp
The Citizens of Gramercy were probably clamoring for this new Australian eatery. Especially if they like large, tasty portions of good-looking food. I couldn't decide whether to go healthy (Farmer's Bowl) or not (Shortrib Sandwich) so I forced one of my companions to split them both with me. Then I made her add bacon to the bowl because it sounded too baconless, and because I'm a terrible person (she doesn't even eat pork). The bowl was quite tasty, with the vinaigrette tying the whole farro/kale/feta thing together, and the bacon turned out to be an excellent value, if not a heart-healthy decision. It was a handful of bacon. A handful of something usually denotes a small amount, but in this case just think about how many pieces of bacon you could pick up with one hand. It's a lot. The shortrib sandwich was solid, although it desperately needed the beetroot chutney slathered on one side of it (good thing it had it). I know this because I ate the rest of the braised shortribs another friend had added onto her salad, and it was chewy and a bit bland without the marmalade thing. The rest of the menu seems equally appealing, although I recommend you get get the Brekkie Sandwich as is because saying you don't want the biscuit it comes with is psychotic, Drew.

Yelp
Always love a good meal at Citizens. I've been to Chelsea a few times, but this place must've opened up after I left the area because I would definitely have been a regular. The employees are super friendly, not only to customers, but each other as well (or so it seemed to me). Chill spot with a great playlist and decent amount of space. I got the matcha latte which wasn't uber packed with matcha flavor, but it was still quite good. The pb&j waffle though. So good. The raspberry compote and pb panna cotta are out of this world. And don't be fooled by the size of the waffle. It's pretty dense lol and they load you up with lots of fruit. Awesome place! Definitely worth a stop in!

Yelp
Lousy coffee. Bloody undrinkable. Real pity because of the great location. Also, if I ask the server to put a Splenda into the coffee before they foam the latte, don't tell me to do it afterwards "because they don't do that here".

Yelp
Citizens of Gramercy is a nice breakfast spot because it's not too hectic then and mostly operates as a coffee bar as people go. The baristas are very kind and you can tell many people regularly to get their coffee as they ask about their weekends and seem to recognize the customers. Aside from the ambiance I loved their food as well. Would definitely recommend a flat white since the drink originated from where the restaurant does and the drink was perfect: the milk was not overpowering and the smooth espresso peaked through just strongly enough. The brekkie sandwich was equally yummy as the bread of the sandwich was soft with the egg and bacon coupled with the beetroot salad was a nice addition. Great place to start off the morning
