Citrus On the Lake Boutique Hotel / Citrus Sky Bar Tavares

We were looking for a hotel with a lake view, restaurants in walking distance, boat ramp with a marina, and allowed pets...a place we could chill. This hotel checked all the boxes. We stayed in the main building. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the pool, lake and marina. Our room was clean with a simple kitchenette (coffee maker, microwave, small refrigerator). With no exception, every single staff person we encountered was professional, friendly, and proactively asked us if there was anything they could do for us. The area is so quaint. There is a paved walking path linking the downtown restaurants along Lake Dora including a playground for children. We enjoyed watching people launch their boats as well as the seaplanes takeoff and land. The lights of the marina make for a romantic evening to sit on the balcony with a glass of wine. Since we stayed early in the week, there are a few restaurants closed on Monday but there were still options available. We enjoyed 2 evenings at the Citrus Rooftop Bar enjoying the spectacular view. We did take advantage of the 10% discount at the sister restaurant properties too. We recommend the key lime pie at Poppy's Ice Cream...unbelievably delicious. And say hi to Maddie. Overall - We had a wonderful experience and we're looking forward to returning again soon.

Building and rooms were out dated, but fantastic overall! Can't wait to go back. Toni, the front desk attendant, was absolutely the best. Her smile lights up the lobby. We had a wonderful time, and will be back in November for the Phantom Airborne Brigade jump.

Scott at Citrus Sky Bar is absolutely amazing! His service is top notch. He’s always so friendly, attentive, and genuinely makes you feel welcome the moment you sit down. Not only that, but his drinks are incredible! You can tell he takes pride in what he does, and it shows in every cocktail. If you’re in Tavares, do yourself a favor and ask for Scott—you won’t be disappointed!

We just finished up convention at the hotel and everything was perfect! Great rooms.. we had a HUGE sweet.. for very reasonable prices… excellent service. Everyone went above and beyond. The rooftop bar was beautiful, great bartenders, drinks, food and an amazing view of the lake. Several restaurants within walking distance were all excellent. We will definitely be back!

I’d like to say we were moving. The bar is LOW. We needed a comfortable clean bed to pass out in for a few nights to get the house packed and ready. I was told the manager would reach out. Four days later and nothing. PLEASE learn from our mistake and go to the Hampton Inn in Leesburg down the road. Everything about the hotel great and beautiful surrounding the hotel till you get to the rooms themselves. We felt like we got honey potted. The beds are bad guys, like REALLY bad. You couldn’t move an inch without them loudly squeaking. It’s a hotel. How do you pour money in to everything surrounding the hotel but not the rooms or beds? Hair in the sheets, hole punched in the wall, horrible beds. Working in hospitality, you’re nothing without the basics, and comfortability and cleanliness are the basics in the industry. Front desk when checking out apologized after seeing us and said that believe it or not these are the best rooms/beds out of the entire property. Front desk staff checking in and out were wonderful. Surrounding area and location is cute and building up. The adjacent restaurants are good. Just do not stay here for the night. I’ll update if/when I hear from management.

We were there for the July 4th experience on Lake Dora. The balcony room was AWESOME clean and efficient . To top off our trip we et Trinity, an employee at the Citrus. She checked us in during this busy stay date. She was very professional and customer-oriented. She also worked at the Citrus Sky Bar as a bartender which is a MUST visit and the Argonaut. another cool bar. What we love about this location is you can part your car and walk everywhere. Thank you Trinity for making our trip so enjoyable. We will definitely return.

What a great find. Nice hotel with a beautiful view of the lake and awesome nightlife in a walkable area if you stay in the hotel. 7 minutes from downtown Mount Dora.. perfect for a little weekend getaway at a Great price! Large roomy room with a balcony that was perfectly perfect for the sunset. This will be our go to when visiting Mount Dora from now on.

Scott is the best bartender ever!! his drinks are incredible and his service is awesome Best bartender there is in Tavares without a doubt so many pleasant and great experiences at this bar. He always makes the service beyond exceptional. 10/10 recommend!
