Portland Bar Snacks Ideal for Any Night Out

"Southwest Morrison cocktail bar City Bridge & Tunnel’s goal is to provide affordable drinks and food with some whimsy, and it shows. The bar’s house-made chips play on classic flavors like cool ranch and flamin’ hot, with an additional truffle chip for those feeling fancy. They are available as a snack with luxe dipping sauces like salsa verde or confit garlic sour cream; those seeking something a little more substantial can order them as a side for the kitchen’s sandwiches and hot dogs. Filling the shoes of industry bar Shift Drinks, City Bridge & Tunnel keeps the bar open until 2 a.m. with a late-night happy hour." - Alex Frane, Maya MacEvoy

Portland Bar City Bridge & Tunnel Will Bring Lobster Rolls Downtown - Eater Portland

"City Bridge & Tunnel is moving into the old Shift Drinks space and aims to open by St. Patrick’s Day. The bar will serve old school cocktails and comfort foods like lobster rolls and meatball subs. It aims to offer a late-night bar with affordable drinks and food that fits into a niche between high-end spots and low-brow bars. The menu will include Negronis, Old Fashioneds, Vespers, margaritas, martinis, and rotating regional beers. The space will feature varied aesthetics with emerald velvet loveseats, marble surfaces, and wooden bar seats. The bar plans on keeping late hours with a focus on community events and hospitality workers." - Alex Frane

It's wonderful to see a solid new entry in the downtown bar scene. It seems like the pandemic left us with few good after work upper-middle-shelf craft cocktail bars and restaurants in the downtown core, mainly just a few high-end spots, a few Portland landmarks, and bottom shelf dive bars and chain restaurants. City, Bridge & Tunnel fills that gap The cocktails were on point and reasonably priced, perhaps even under priced for the quality (ssshhhh, don’t tell them that!). My Cobb salad was was a bit light on turkey and bacon, especially considering those were extra $$ add-ons, but it still a relatively good value, especially at the happy hour price and considering how expensive *everything* is these days. The house made truffle potato chips were to die for and well worth the price. That’s all the food I tried on my first visit, but I can imagine the rest of the menu is just as solid. It’s not fine dining, and it’s not a bucket of chain-restaurant slop. It’s solid food and exceptional drinks at reasonable prices, and great service. Impressive considering how young this place is. I’ll definitely be back for more, and it gives me a reason to look forward to “office days” downtown.

On the way back to the train after the Timbers’ game, we stepped in to this three months old brand new bar. We sat at the bar, ordered a sandwich, a beer and a Negroni . The helpers are friendly, they keep eyes on each customers, make sure customers are doing ok or need anything more. I love inside the taller ceiling and atmosphere, of course the burger and drinks also.

Google
Awesome new cocktail bar that some famous bartender opened in downtown Portland. I enjoyed the ESPRESSO MARTINI (espresso, coffee liqueur, vodka) BLACK CAT (bourbon, blackberry, honey, lemon) & SPICY HABANERO MARGARITA (Tequila, mango, chile infused triple sec, Chamoy).

Nice place for a quick bite and drink. They are pretty friendly and attentive. I had a good time and love their decor and atmosphere! I parked out back because it was after hours for them and paid for parking so easy parking if you pay for it.

Juicy op hot dog, with tasty toasted bread. Get the homemade "cool ranch" chips! This place feels like a cross between a dive bar and Multnomah whisky library, great music, punky vibes. They even had the fight on!! Saturday night treasure for sure.

Google
City Bridge and Tunnel is exactly what downtown needs coming out of this pandemic. We were so excited to find a bar that’s open late and also serves up excellent cocktails and food. The atmosphere and the entire crew were awesome and the hotdogs were an absolute hit.

Opened for a week, it needs some time to mature and find it's vibe. Quiet on Saturday early evening, we'll be back to check it out other times. Wait staff is nice. The Cosmo on tap is fairly sweet.

Came in with a group of friends to the new bar in downtown and was pleasantly surprised. A bar like this is just what we needed in this neighborhood somewhere with solid cocktails where you can sit with your friends and relax. The food is awesome I recommend you try the meatball sub or the late night dank god on their happy hour.

Yelp
Came here on a quiet night for some pre-show martinis. The menu was perfect with a bunch of small snacks as well as fancy drinks. Ordered the Mezcal and Coffee martinis which were both perfect! Mezcal had the signature smoky taste and coffee had enough kick in it without being too sugary. The glasses were filled nicely to the brim. Atmosphere was great with tall cielings reverbing the bass and very comfortable chairs aling the walls. Absolutely wonderful new spot.

Yelp
The location is in a perfect spot downtown. Walkable to so many things including Timber and Thorn games. We stopped in for a cocktail and ended up getting an amazing charcuterie dish. The service, vibe and menu are wonderful!

Yelp
I was always a big fan of Shift Drinks and was sad to see it gone yet excited to try City, Bridge & Tunnel. The service was excellent. Our bartender, Rat Tail (per the receipt at least?), was super friendly and very attentive. Our drinks were tasty, and the vibe was fun. I ended up getting a turkey club sandwich to-go, and it was definitely moreish as they say. I couldn't stop eating it, it was so delicious! The bread was beautifully crusty, and the garlic aioli had a perfect kick. My rosé cider was a bit sweet for me, but caveat emptor. I look forward to coming back and am so happy C, B & T is here!

Yelp
City, Bridge, Tunnel, & Winning. This new spot downtown is a much needed hub of great food, beers, cocktails (on draft!) and cozy seating. I love the openness and coziness of the space and it's excellent hours - finally a great bar open until 2 AM downtown. I had the Negroni on draft which was the best I've had in years - smooth and flavorful. There is plenty of open bar seating, or plenty of full-service seating to allow for a special night out with great service. Check this place out now when your in the 'hood!

Yelp
Good for, good drinks, ok bar service, kitchen staff were sifted nice. I like the concept better then shiftdrinks. My only negative was the Dj playing music to loud and not really knowing what he was doing. Seemed like he took the opportunity to practice since the bar was kind of slow.

Yelp
Stopped in to escape the late July heat and grab some water... decided to stay for a few drinks and a Turkey sandwich... The sandwich was delicious and loaded with meat! The atmosphere was great as well! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
I have to tell you what was so great about my experience here. I was late getting out to find a bite on a Sunday night (8:30pm). I had just arrived at a nearby hotel, the bar at the hotel didn't offer much in terms of a bar menu for a meal, so I set out on foot, saw this bar on the corner, couldn't really tell if it was still open, walked in, bartender was kind enough to offer a seat at the bar and handed me a menu. Closing time was at 9, so I thought I'd get something simple, so I ordered a turkey club sandwich, side salad and an IPA. I wasn't expecting much, but holy moly, when my food arrived, there was a mountain of a sandwich, truffle chips piled high and a salad that was so mouthwatering delish! I was thrilled to get a meal like that at that time of night, WOW! And the sandwich as made picture perfect, as if it were the cover on a food magazine. I'm coming back to try other food on the menu. It was a friendly place, kind of a younger crowd (I'm 57, lol), but I didn't mind, it was a fun place.

Yelp
Not terribly impressed but I realize they just opened. They didn't honor happy hour pricing, are pretty slow, the whole place smells strongly of pinesol or some other cleaner, and something is off with their martinis ( bad olives?). On the plus the staff is nice, but I think they still need to iron out a few wrinkles.

Yelp
Always happy to see new places open late downtown. Got a cocktails and drinks to split; the winners were the meatball sandwich, smoked old fashion, and the cosmo. We'll be back!

Yelp
Good food, awesome cocktails and open till 2 AM. What else can you ask for! Really happy that they opened here. I can see myself coming here often after shows, games. Need to catch the live DJ sometime too!
