"The Greek husband and wife team behind the Ivy Tavern, Lisa and Tom Georgalis, are bringing a taste of their family cuisine to West Dallas. The menu will feature their family recipes and a press release teases the inclusion of dishes not typically served at American Greek restaurants. Whatever that means, we’re in. It will also have a cocktail lounge inspired by some of Dallas’s most popular ‘90s spots, 8.0 and Star Canyon." - Courtney E. Smith

First you smell delicious food and your tummy starts to grumble. Then you see allllll of the delicious options and your tummy starts to growl. Jess is ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING and a true pleasure to meet, all of the staff is fun and friendly and you feel like a regular right away. Everyone eating is happy and the restaurant is extremely clean. Lots of seating and they will help you to your car if you get it to go. Did I tell the portions are huge 😳 yes no complaints this place is ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Very fresh food served here. I had the 1/2 chicken salad sandwich and green chile soup. Both very good. Chile soup was mild, but flavorful. Parking is tight in front, but plenty under building.

Came here one day for lunch with a friend. Got the City Club Cafe Sandwich with fries. The Sandwhich comes with Mayo smoked Turkey breast, applewood smoked bacon, avocado cheddar cheese, tomato & red leaf lettuce on sourdough bread. It was very good! For dessert I got the Blum’s caramel crunch cake. It was a little too sweet for my taste. But tasted like a coffee cake. For drinks we got the famous “teamon-ade” which was delish! The vibes are very “park cities/ highland park” if you know what I mean.

Google
This has now become one of my go-to lunch places. They have healthy food choices, and they taste fantastic. The tomato soup was to die for and complemented the egg salad sandwich perfectly. I highly recommend City Cafe and will be returning.

I can't wait to go back to this nice cafe! I ordered the lasagna and it was so delicious! Also, the people who work there are so nice and friendly. I will most definitely be back!

I stopped in here on a Wednesday for lunch. The dining room was full. The atmosphere is clean and cozy. The food is fresh and plentiful. I had a wonderful chopped salad with salmon, and tried a cup of their homemade cream of mushroom soup. Delish!!!! The iced tea is great, too. I look forward to future visits!!!

The service is amazing. The food is delicious. The bread has a good variety of choices. The pie is perfect and the eggs are perfectly cooked.

Yelp
Always fast, and the lemonade is so good! I also just love the chicken salad and everyone who works there is incredibly nice.

Yelp
Haven't been here in so so long, and yet it's just as great as it always been. I get my usual half turkey wrap no cheese and my husband gets the three scoop salad plate. Always delicious. Fast and friendly service, especially the young man who brought us our food.

Yelp
Ran into the Bistro for a quick bite . Quaint little place off the highway but don't let it fool you . Inside you quickly realized this is a place for the wealthy , and actually had valet parking too ! Housewives , families and professionals lined the venue - it was like a movie . I ordered a chicken salad wrap from the cordial service member and was delighted when they brought it ! Nice size and tasty chicken salad . This seems like the "go to" deli for Dallas . Great place

Yelp
The best place to grab a chicken salad sandwich, Asian chicken salad, BLT...everything on their menu is fabulous. The best tea & the best staff in Dallas! love love LOVE City Cafe to go!!!

Yelp
Everything about this place is good but the parking. Lots of choices of good food. Also have takeout. Very popular!

Yelp
This is a very small plain diner. The food is hit and miss. For instance, the chocolate mousse cake was dry and tasteless. The food quality is cafeteria level. The management and staff are friendly.

Yelp
City Cafe To Go is a casual café that specializes in sandwich, salad, lunch type fare and also boasts some impressive desserts. It works better as a place to grab a nice slice of cake, as getting to the restaurant can be difficult. My Overall Rating - 2 Stars (Service, Food) Atmosphere - Getting to City Cafe To Go can be a challenge. Besides a narrow turn in off Lovers, it's a very narrow lot with a parking garage that's tough to get into. But there's also a valet, which sort of surprised me until I realized this restaurant is very popular with "ladies that lunch". It's more social hour vs. lunch hour, so normal weekday lunch saw some heavy crowds that tended to just loiter around. If you're part of that crowd, you have a seat saved. As for me? I heard the tea was good. No Stars. Service - Standard counter service applies here. Wait in line, drool over desserts behind the case, order your meal, grab a number, find a seat, & wait. The staff was friendly enough and moved the line quickly. The only hiccup was they delivered someone else's order to our table and there was a slight mix up. But no harm done - they were quick to resolve. 1 Star. Food - Honestly, my Panini (supposedly popular) was unforgettable. Another review referenced NY, and my apologies but other than the parking situation there wasn't anything that reminded me of NY. My wife had a salad, which she said was good, but again, nothing that jumped out. Thank goodness for desserts. We did order a chocolate cake, a bit dry in the middle but better than our lunch offerings. I know they have other desserts that are great so I'm going to give them a little love. Oh, and the tea was excellent. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Not my scene. Sorry, but I doubt I'll ever return unless I'm picking up dessert for someone. City Cafe To Go appears to be a popular spot that caters to the aforementioned "ladies who lunch". I'm sure they have many regulars, but unless you're looking for some unique dessert options, I would pass on a visit/return. No Stars. My Yelp Rating Scale (Sum of all parts): 1 Star - Atmosphere - Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I'll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star - Service - You can have a great meal with bad service. But that's also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It's important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars - Food - I'll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it's really all about the food. 1 Star - Will I come back? - If I know for a fact I'll return, I'll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food (2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Yelp score.

Yelp
I had forgotten all about City Cafe To-Go. Mostly because it was such a pain in the ass to eat there. Originally it just had a handful of tables. The parking was atrocious, and it was a bit pricy. An off-shoot of the solid City Cafe, it would seem to share much of the kitchen personnel. The food was always good, but I gradually phased it out of my lunch circuit. Well, some of those issues have been rectified. I entered to find a now expansive space with comfortable tables and booths after they expanded into whatever had been next door. Finished out really well. The display cases are still filled with delectable looking entrees and sides for forming a take-out meal that you can pass off as your own. I haven't tried the take out meals but they look delicious. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/m1FX3cNdYn6lX_KG7wxZng?select=N5S4l61-Ap_PqqwDpz2jKw http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/m1FX3cNdYn6lX_KG7wxZng?select=8Rt4Yf558X--yd8_tqs8Bw http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/m1FX3cNdYn6lX_KG7wxZng?select=sDzXEL_NpCGqYxjvl1821w At 1:30 on a weekday when I eat lunch I'm not expecting most restaurants to be that crowded. Here it was, and the reason was the clientele of rich park cities and north dallas women, fresh from the gym, or tennis or yoga. Wearing expensive stretchy clothing. Asses that looked transplanted from jail-bait. Milfs biding the time until kids were picked up from school by the nanny (sorry no pics). If you like tuna salad sandwiches, and I know you are probably saying "meh", well, just try it. It's great. Vermont cheddar on toothsome wheat bread. Slightly grilled onions and good tomatoes adorn it. Accompanied by delicious pasta salad. Yes it's $11, but it is a big meal. I had the tuna melt on a cold rainy day and it was delicious also. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/m1FX3cNdYn6lX_KG7wxZng?select=HU8a25Vtd9ZPYmxK6uERIw Chicken salad sandwich is nicely made as well. Soups are good, and they are known for their tomato soup. They have a wide array of desserts, but I've just had a few of the cookies and they were just fine. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/m1FX3cNdYn6lX_KG7wxZng?select=415fTXZtPuFpKYrPSyBZ_A OK, so I paid $18 for lunch after tipping the cabana boy-like Antonio who no doubt is a draw for this clientele also. He did slip an extra cookie into my to go food so props for that. All in all solid well made food at a premium. And as the other reviewer mentioned: plenty of parking down in the parking garage.

Chloe G.

Yelp
As you step inside, it looks kinda upscale but from the outside, it's not in the nicest block. Parking is in the basement Food wise is hit & miss. The lamb chops is fabulous , nicely seared on the outside with a herb & salt crust, comes with beans & some greens. The duck breast is ok. Cranberry sauce is too funny, wild rice too hard. The espresso infused angel cake was a disappointment. The cake was hard & hardly any coffee taste. Our server kept starting his sentence with "my favorite is...." for everything! We just felt like he was steering us to those dishes. We would like to pick our own coz everyone's taste is different. When they came to clean our table, the server dropped a knife on me, luckily I wasn't hurt.

Yelp
My wife and I visited to celebrate our anniversary. We showed up early and had a short wait while they figured where to sit us. We loved the interior. We sat at a table across from the kitchen. I didn't mind-I like being near the action. It took a little too long to get menus and the value of food didn't match the cost. However, We enjoyed our steaks, sides and desserts. We couldn't finish our entrees so my mom enjoyed them. We don't know if we'll return but we'd recommend them to anyone.

Yelp
I have patronized this restaurant for a number of years now. Why I have not written a review before, I don't know -- but it's long overdue. Karim and his staff are absolutely THE BEST in creating a true "dining experience", whether for casual or more formal gatherings, and whether dining alone or with friends/guests. It is red-carpet, white-napkin treatment from the time you walk in until you leave. And when they tell you the specials for the day, take note. Some are truly *creations* from the kitchen! But their standard menu is still head-and-shoulders above many others. But where they truly excel is in service, both friendly and prompt. You will be hard-pressed to find this level of attention at restaurants charging similar. We've all heard of "dress to impress." Well, if making an impression on someone is key to your personal or business affairs, here is where you'll want to bring them to "dine to impress."

Shannon B.

Yelp
My husband and I dined here for our first time this past Friday evening. Having passed by here for years we never thought about stopping until some good friends of our suggested we eat here. Karim, the owner, greeted us at the door and immediately took us to our table. Wow! Needless to say we had being missing out on a true Dallas gem. Sorry there are no pics in this review but we just enjoyed the food. For apps we ordered the quail special along with the escargot. Both were fantastic. The escargot is not your traditional garlic butter preparation but instead a cream type sauce on a delectable puff pastry. They also bring out these warm freshly baked rolls that are amazing! Dinner we ordered the Dover Sole and Veal Scaloppine. Both were fantastic. We have been other places that struggled plating the sole but not here. These guys were professionals. The veal was the best I can remember in Dallas as well. For dessert we had the key lime pie. It was great but honestly we were both stuffed from the rest of the meal. Their iced tea is also fabulous! We will be back for sure to dine again. Will also stop in and visit the carry out place next door as well.

Yelp
Had dinner here last night for my Mom's birthday. It is such a nice low-key spot. Top notch service reminds me of a high-end steakhouse like Nick and Sams, and the food was also fantastic. There was a dessert called Angel Cake that was like the next evolution of Tiramisu. Fantastic stuff. Duck a l'orange was on point. Maaaaybe a tiny bit dry. And the fillet of Sole was skillfully presented and deboned at the table. It was also delish. The place was pretty expensive, but if you've got money to blow and want to be able to talk, this is the spot.

Yelp
We reserved a week in advance for a party of 11 for brunch. They had a separate room ready for our party when we arrived. The outside looks like a super tiny little neighborhood cafe, but that is deceiving. Inside it is really much larger and very posh. The decor is upscale and music (for Sunday Brunch) was just what I have on my Spotify. I know that's not a plus for a lot of people, but I loved it. :) The bread baskets that come out after you are seated are super fresh and tasty. We had a range of dishes ranging from traditional breakfasts to crab cake benedict to the special of the day which was a trout and risotto dish I believe. All were cooked perfectly. The service was very attentive and everyone we came into contact with was pleasant and friendly. I highly recommend the City Cafe for Sunday brunch. I wished we lived closer so I might try dinner sometime, but we live a bit outside Dallas and were trying to meet up with family. Would definitely go again!

Jen D.

Yelp
This is a lovely, elegant hole in the wall. The decor is classical and harks back to a time when dining was dining. It reminded me of restaurants in NYC, and the personalised attention that spoiled me. I would absolutely recommend this place for dates, clients, or anyone you want to impress.

Erika T.

Yelp
If you've never been to City Cafe you might be a little confused reading these reviews. There are actually two businesses being reviewed under the same heading. The first is City Cafe, a formal, upscale, sit-down restaurant. The second is City Cafe To Go, a casual eatery that's right next door and I assume under the same ownership. I am reviewing City Cafe, my favorite restaurant in Dallas. For starters, it's unlike the majority of fine dining experiences. The place is not trendy, there is no industrial design, reclaimed wood, or subway tile. Instead, there's an aura of calm civility and an invitation to lose yourself in the experience of incredible food and excellent service. Then there's Karim, the owner. He is exceptionally gracious, and while I know it's a cliche, he makes diners feel as if they are his personal guest. My husband and I took some of his colleagues there last night and the food and presentation were flawless as usual. Highly recommended.

Jeanne H.

Yelp
Went to City Cafe today for tea, for Valentines. Our server could not have been nicer & the $25 price was reasonable. But the food, plating & presentation was well below the normal afternoon tea expectations. Some examples: 1) regular restaurant plates & cups were used instead of fine china, 2) stainless steel dressing/gravy boats were used for honey & strawberry jam, instead of individual jars 3) no individual teapots for the table - our cups were just replenished 4) no lumps of sugar and 5) although I was told everything would be made fresh on site, by their pastry chef, the scone was underdone in the middle & the desserts very pedestrian, with wilted petals on the strawberries. I would have paid more for something nicer.

Stephen W.

Yelp
I went there for a business dinner last night and it was an excellent choice. The ambiance is nice, the service is warm and professional, and the atmosphere is sophisticated without being snooty. I had not been for several years but had good memories, which turned out to be accurate. The tomato soup was very good, maybe not as good as I remember, but very good. I first had City Cafe's years ago, before La Madeline's tomato basil soup became so popular. City Cafe's is a bit more bitter but rustic, chunky and thick. You can tell it is homemade. The warm cabbage salad was also very good but not as good as I remember. Maybe the novelty had worn off. But my guests liked it and the portion was big enough to share. The star of the dinner was the filet mignon. Oh my God. There are no words. It was beyond spectacular. I guess the contemporary vernacular is "awesome." It was way beyond awesome, which has to be the most overused word in the English vocabulary these days, to the point of being meaningless. But I digress. The steak ($36) was perfectly cooked to medium, juicy, tender, and so flavorful. There was a great sauce that made swishing pure joy. It came with asparagus that was also perfectly executed. One of my colleagues got the pork tenderloin and said it was excellent. The other colleague also got the filet and we both agreed that it was one of the best steaks we had ever had. As for parking: I used valet ($3) which was convenient and easy. One of my colleagues used the underground garage. I had warned him of "sharp turns and steep inclines" based on previous reviews. After parking his own vehicle he said that maybe if a person were driving a tank or a Hummer it may be difficult, but for a regular car it was not a problem at all. He drives one of those minivan things, so he was amused at my warnings. Maybe driving experience is a factor too? The restaurant is bit pricey, but it is an experience that you feel as if you got your money's worth. I told the wife about our experience and now she insists that I take her. I would definitely return and this time there will not be an interval of several years.

Diana K.

Yelp
I had the most fabulous Bridal Shower thrown for me at City Cafe. We had an elegant Tea Luncheon in their private room. There were about 25 guests and everyone seemed to have a great time! They served 4 different tea sandwiches: egg salad, chicken salad, cucumber, and smoked salmon. I ate all of them all up. Then they served some scones and cream, and then came dessert. They served a chocolate covered strawberry, lemon bar, brownie, and one more (I can't remember). The service overall was great! The waiters and waitresses were very nice and even packed up some of the extra food that they had made in case anything went wrong. The only inconvenience was the parking. The parking garage is scary! The deep inclines and the "dangerous curves" were pretty frightening. Over half of the guests were late because of the crazy parking.

A C.

Yelp
Excellent food! Excellent service! So friendly! Meet you at door and shake your hand as you leave! Best tea as well! Loved this place and checked in and wrote review just so we can remember to come back!

Anne S.

Yelp
I'm surprised City Cafe doesn't have more reviews, but then again, it's the sort of place that you have to know about...not the sort of place you just stop in because you're in the area and you see it there. Even if you're in the area, you're not gonna see it. And even if you see it, you're not gonna stop in...because where do you park? How do you even turn in there against traffic? Wtf, mate? Well, if you brave the horrendously tiny underground garage (or pay the valet to do it for you), you'll be greeted by a quite courteous waitstaff and find yourself in a quite charming, elegant dining room. If you wander in the more casual "City Cafe To Go" next door, you may be confused, as I was. Look for the door with the red "City Cafe" sign over it (facing the Tollway, not Lovers). I was there for a private party in the back room. Service was pretty slow...but it may have just seemed slow to me because I was MIA from work and trying to get back before anyone noticed. Still, when the waiter was told that our table was trying to rush back to work, he promised he'd rush out our desserts...then proceeded to clear the table, sweep the crumbs, and deliver us a whole new set of silverware. WTF! Just slam down some lemon tart, man! We were due back at work an hour ago! That aside, the food was deliiiiicious. I had a filet mignon salad and a lemon tart for dessert, though I wouldn't totally recommend the lemon tart (it tasted like they had shipped it in, not baked it fresh). The filet mignon salad was the bomb. All the other entree choices looked good, too. Minus one star for horrible parking/slow service, and minus another star for the fact that the food (if I was actually paying for it) would probably be a bit overpriced. But I'm being fairly picky here. City Cafe would be an awesome spot for a nice date or a girls' lunch.

Sandra C.

Yelp
i have never had such great food and service in my life! Upscale casual setting. Superb attention to detail and service. The Maître d'/Host went out of his way to ensure our experience was the best!

Chelsea W.

Yelp
We came for our 5 year anniversary. All the staff was excellent. The owner makes you feel right at home like he's known you forever. I had the gulf shrimp and my fiancé had the pork chop. We also started with the tempura asparagus- which was great. Excellent service, the food was delicious and I would love to go back again. They also gave us a celebratory dessert, even though we said we were going somewhere else for dessert. Totally cool with us, we can go to the other place another time. We will be back!

Anuja K.

Yelp
Highly overpriced restaurant in the neighborhood. It look pretty simple from outside however is an old school style American restaurant on the inside with fancy table cover and china. The service in great however the menu is very traditional. We got one round if drinks, 2 appetizers, 7 main courses and 2 sides and our bill touched $480 (including tip) which was very steep in my opinion for the food and ambience. I am a vegetarian and the veggie plate was sub par (4 pieces each of grilled zucchini, eggplant, pepper, asparaus and beans, with undercooked rice and hummus). The rest of then got sea food however they ran out of somehing and gave us subs. Our mains took forever to come and they gave us free desserts which is a part of the great service. The cheesecake and the key lime pie was good. Overall, 3 stars vecause of pricing and probably will not return as I can have a much better meal in Dallas for the same price.

Melissa M.

Yelp
Their egg salad sandwich is huge, and I only got half. I especially like the moist bread and BACON on the sandwich. Their Cesar salad dressing is very yummy. We got the Italian Cream Cake for dessert. The icing tasted kind of like bland whipped butter, but of course we polished it off. I would go back and get the angel food cake dessert that everyone raves about.

Morgan C.

Yelp
This was my first visit to City Cafe. Everyone associated with the restaurant was a delight. They made the experience exquisite. We started off with the tempura Asparagus with a Lemon Aioli with shaved Parmesan. That was so good. (*****) I got the special of the day, which was the Sea Bass with Risotto and Green Beans. It was cooked to perfection, it was amazing in the lemon butter. It's one of the best Sea Bass I have had. My mom got the tomato soup (*****) ana the cabbage salad (***). The Manager Karim was a delight and made my first experience a great one, and we will be back very soon! Thank You for the amazing dinner!

Mark H.

Yelp
We had a great lunch and the best waitress ever! The Shrimp and grits were amazing. Thanks Kelly

Shayla D.

Yelp
This place has a great to-go menu! The chicken salad is fantastic and they always have amazing soups! Don't forget to try their teamonade!

Geanna C.

Yelp
Lovely cafe near great shops. My mother took me for lunch a couple of years ago and it exceeded my expectations. Food and service is really good!Keep needing to revisit!

Annemarie C.

Yelp
This place is a fast pace place but have a friendly atmosphere to it . This place is close by Petco and the high school in dallas. The food is delicious. If you want to come in get the club because it can feed two people. . Even through the food portion is big you can get a good meal out of it. Stop on in for a good meal under 30 bucks for two people. You won't regret coming in to the City Cafe.

Teri M.

Yelp
This was my first visit, but not my last. Such a great restaurant with excellent service, amazing drinks and really good food. We took advantage of half price wine on Wednesday and finished with a beautiful chocolate dessert.

Esther H.

Yelp
I have never been to a lot of cute eateries in Dallas but it was across the awesome Paper Affair Dallas store. When we walked in, there is the regular City Cafe that takes you upstairs and the cafe you walk straight into - this is City Cafe to go. You're immediately greeted by friendly staff. The menu selection is so customer friendly. You get a great select of options that isn't overwhelming with descriptions and a very reasonable price. Word around is that their iced tea is amazing which they give free refills when you eat in the store. We were able to pick our seats and one of the ladies brought the food to us. If you don't want anything off the menu and you're more a visual person, they have a long aisle of food you can look at that you can get plated too. THE FOOD: Chicken Pesto hot sandwich (forgive me on the name - I forgot it!) Anyways this warm panini sandwich came with a nice little italian salad. It was delicious - there was bacon, tomatoes, cheese with some yummy pesto. It gets a little greasy but its worth it. Teamonade - I opted for this Arnold palmer imitation drink which was sweet and yes was half tea/ half lemonade. PRICE: I didn't pay but I believe my food & drink hit under the $15 mark. Great place, service, & food. Great for LUNCH

Manali M.

Yelp
We ate here for a family celebration. Let's just say it's great if you're 50+ and old fashioned (read conservative) in taste. They've been around a long time and it shows. Our waitress was very nice, friendly and courteous. The decor is old. The food was decent. I ordered the salmon entree- pretty decent. The pea purée was over powering and boring. The salmon was too fishy. The best things were the bread basket & chocolate cake.

Linday C.

Yelp
CCTG is my New York City methadone. Getting my 'city that never sleeps' buzz fix, I sling open the door, swing round the counter, longingly stare into the glass case Indiana Jonsing lost artifacts of rich deli meatloafs, cooked fishies, shrimps, seasoned chicken, beef, grilled veggies, pastas, salads, quesadillas, sweet potatoes mounds, loaded baked potatoes, brussels sprouts, more more more, then onto breathtaking dessert masterpieces. Desserts are so pretty. Sugar melts in my mouth just looking at them. My first meal ordered was egg salad on top of a side salad. Oh my the base of egg salad is exquitie and the best tasting I've ever had. The thick baked crunchy butter battered bread is served as a cracker. Eavesdropping orders, I quickly access what is being ordered with enthusiasm. Patron after patron, each order is placed with stronghold confidence and excitement for the delivery of the deliciousness. I heard fr a take out regular that weekday they offer a hot special blue plate of the day with choice of 2 veggies. Saturday afternoon is the time. Sunshine is the weather. Busy street watching is the entertainment. Fun and energetic is the vibe. They are closed on Sundays so I will just have to wait until Monday to get my next fix. See Mondays could never be bad at this funhouse.

Marie W.

Yelp
I had the half chicken salad sandwich and half herb roasted chicken salad. The portion sizes were very large, the ingredients all fresh, and lunch was served promptly. It is a very casual dining environment (at lunch anyway).

Christina B.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to eat in Dallas. After living in the city for 12 years, the above statement is bold. However, City Cafe To Go has earned the title. My first experience with CCTG was my senior year of high school when I stopped in after service at Children's Medical Center. It was a tiny, crowded place with 5 mismatched tables and lots of Park Cities moms with strollers and work-out outfits. The place has since been expanded twice, and now parking and seating are not problem at all. Fortunately, the food has remained awesome despite the expansion and matching furniture. I always get the same thing: the caprese panino with a side of pasta salad and an iced tea. The panino is super tasty with fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil, and some kind of magic sauce. The pasta salad is equally fresh and flavorful with pesto and veggies. Sure, this combo is $12, but I feel it's well worth it. The iced tea here is AMAZING. All those Park-y moms are coming in the get that tea before sitting forever in the carpool line post tennis practice. Despite the stuck-up trophy wives, this place is "da bomb."

Yelp
Eating at City Cafe was like rekindling a high school romance twenty years later. Except the girl you were once head over heels in love with has put on 60 pounds, stopped shaving her legs and armpits and bore 14 children (all brats). We got to City Cafe about 5 minutes before our reservation time. We stood waiting for someone to acknowledge us for 10 minutes. Finally, a young girl, who was obviously new, in training and had never done anything like this, greeted us and told us it wouldn't be long. Over the next 20 minutes she, and the owner/ Manager, told us no less than five times our table was almost ready. At 30 minutes past our reservation time, we were seated. It was a Valentine's Day menu. It was late, we were hungry so we dived right into the menu. My wife decided on sea bass. The waiter came up and informed us that they were out of sea bass (and snapper). He went off, allowing us to regroup, and my wife decided on the scallops. The waiter came back. My wife orders the scallops, the waiter says, "ohhh, we may have just sold our last order of scallops, let me go check." He comes back and sure enough, they're out of scallops. He defends all of this by saying, "It's Valentines weekend, of course we're going to be running out of the seafood." How about its 9:30 on a Saturday night, you're a $40 per entree restaurant and you stock enough food that you put on the menu so you're customers don't get so pissed they never want to come back??? How about that for a restaurant business philosophy, smartass! I ordered soup, a Caesar salad and the filet. The soup was good. The filet was sublime. The Caesar salad? Never got it! I guess the good news is, I wasn't charged for it. Mr. Special Valentine's menu must have run out if that too and just didn't have the heart to tell us. The reason for the rekindled flame analogy earlier is because my wife and I hadn't been to City Cafe in at least 20 years. It will be another 20 before we ever go back (if that). Frowny face.

Yelp
I visit Dallas a couple of times a month and had not heard of City Cafe. A co-worker of mine has a friend who highly recommended the restaurant. The website describes the restaurant as "comfortable, unpretentious, casual elegance" and they certainly got it right! Today was Wagyu Wednesday and I had Wagyu Meat Loaf which was fantastic and the salmon nested in a type of charmoula was also very good. Karim, the host, was personable and attentive as was our server. It was a pleasure to enjoy a nice dinner while also being able to hold, and hear, a conversation with those seated around the table. Don't leave without trying Blum's Caramel Cake or the Key Lime Pie. I'll be back.

Yelp
The staff here is very nice, you can get their famous tomato soup and crisp toasties. You order at the counter and they bring to your table. You can either eat in or take out. The counters are always filled with beautifully executed tasty food. The desserts are extra special,my favorite is the blum's cake to share! They serve one of the best Teamonade's AKA Arnold Palmer. Parking can be a challenge but there is plenty in the garage.

Yelp
What a shocker!! Never saw this coming, great spot for grab and go food. The problems are already mentioned, parking is a little tough, prices can be a little high. However, they have a great dessert selection and all of the items look super fresh. I would stop in if you are in the neighborhood, give it a try.

Yelp
City Cafe is a must visit !! Everything from the atmosphere, service, food, is wonderful and cozy. Everyone in the staff work together so well to deliver such a great experience, whether your dining in for a more formal meal or a light quick lunch next door to go, the experience is great every time. I've gone here with my family for years, and Karim never fails to make each experience better than the last. He really is the soul and face of City Cafe. Love this place and highly recommend to any one

Yelp
This is a gem of a neighborhood grab-and-go eatery for those that don't have time to cook and don't trust themselves picking ingredients at Eatzi's salad bar. (Why do I always have a Mexi-Medi-Cobb themed salad?) I've had shrimp quesadillas, a chicken-walnut salad with poached pears and the kids chicken tenders. All were worth a re-order and under $10. They have a lemon tart with toasted meringue that is worth a trip alone (even with the sometimes cumbersome parking situation). They have a glass case brimming with pre-made enchiladas, heaping meaty lasagna and home-made pork tamales...all like my mother never used to make. I'm just thankful my microwave is less than a mile away from this place.

Yelp
I've heard favorable feedback about City Cafe from friends so was excited to try. I had the Crab Louis entree salad, which was delicious, but small for an entree salad for the price. The lavash crackers were flavorful but way too thick. If you are fine dining, the crackers should be prepared properly. The biggest disappointment was the disdainful service. I will never go to this restaurant again, nor recommend it to friends, as a result of the service. I walked in, ahead of the friend I was meeting, and looked forward to sinking into a wonderful glass of big red wine. The waiter corrected and said, you don't want to start with a big red and brought me a sample of the Pinot noir. The Pinot noir was lovely but not what I described or asked for. Rather than argue with him, I went along with it and ordered a glass. The roasted brussel sprouts side is awful. I think I ate 4 and dipped them in the crab Louis sauce to salvage them. He asked if I would like to take them home, to which I declined. A nearly full side order and he did not inquire if there was a problem. Nor did my bill reflect it. Awful.

Yelp
Mediocre food and bad service. Fine dining prices but never once had our server stop by during the meal. My wife's meatballs were basically raw.

Yelp
A wonderful experience of great food and service. The fried calamari is best we have had anywhere and filet was cooked to perfection! Try the hot cabbage salad! Superb! Staff never miss anything in providing first class service!!

Yelp
If you decide to try this reatuarant, and you've read my review, do just one thing. Ask for NO salt on anything. Our entire meal was covered in salt, especialy the duck and the accompanying vegetables. What could have been a very nice meal was ruined, and fairly pricy.
