"Known for baking some of the best bread in the city, City Bakery Cafe also makes stellar pies in varieties like pecan, apple, Palisade peach, and blueberry hazelnut. Like several bakeries on this list, the shop asks that pies be ordered 48 hours in advance." - Camila Navarrette, Lucy Beaugard, Paul Albani-Burgio

Update 1/5/23: The end of an era, but I was there to grab some treats and a breakfast omelet. They're officially closed as of the end of the day. They're looking for a new location or might purchase a food truck. People drove from far distances and came in to say thank you for the good times. It was good to see everybody one last time. May 2016 Good food and friendly service. I eat here often and pick up treats for my potlucks. Come early for lunch, there is a rush, and it slows down the ordering process. If they mess up your order, they will fix it or compensate you. I would have more pictures, but I'm usually hungry and forget to take pictures. I recommend the make your own omelet, tomato soup, cream of cauliflower soup, French dip sandwich, purist sandwich, coffee cake all variations, brownies, chocolate croissant, chocolate chip cookie, oatmeal raisin cookie, and oreos. I don't eat nuts often, but I did try the peanut butter, and it's one of the best I've tasted. The hot sauce is made in-house and has some heat. I hope this review was hopeful. Until next time.

We found this cute little local bakery in the golden triangle area. They have daily specials written on a board outside. I saw several locals coming in and taking a quick take out along with their freshly baked breads and tea/ coffee cakes. Must try their creamy tomato soup. The owners are nice and friendly. We were traveling with our one year old and they gave us all the time to settle down and decide our order.

I love this cafe and its new family ownership. Santos and his son Hegon, along with Thais (Hegon’s wife) run the show and prepare all the food fresh. My wife and I both had soup and sandwich, hers the delicious corn chowder with a ham + cheese + tomato sandwich, mine the very tasty tomato bisque soup and the grilled cheese with tomato slices. They were paying primary attention to their customers but keeping one eye on the World Cup to be sure Brazil keeps winning. We’ll be back regularly.

Very sweet little place for breakfast and lunch. Great atmosphere to sit and drink a coffee and read a book. The staff are all so nice and I love that they have Brazilian treats on Saturdays. Oh and their hot sauce is fantastic. Will definitely be back!

First time customers get a free pretzel! I ordered the sandwich special, an Apricot Pork Sandwich (featuring goat cheese, greens, pork slices and whatever else they put in it); full sandwiches get a cookie and chips, but they only had a half sandwich, which comes with soup. So I got a half sandwich with their mushroom soup, and a giant pretzel (free since it was my first time) for $10 and some change. I took it to go, and the wait was only around 7 minutes. The sandwich was good, a little greasy, but still yummy. The pretzel was delicious, soft, with just the right crust and salt to top. Soup was also tasty, mushrooms weren’t rubbery and the texture was creamy, but runny enough to sip from the to-go bowl in my car. I’d go back.

City Cafe is SO delicious! We came in Brazilian Saturday and it should not be missed! The fuijoada was amazing! The pork pieces in the bean were so tender and full of flavor. The pao de queijo (cheese bread) is a must have! I can easily see this restaurant becoming one of our favorites! The staff is also really welcoming and happy to make recommendations.

I didn't even know I liked corn chowder until I tried it at this place. Holy HECK!!!!! This food is so good and the staff are super friendly and brought out my food quick af. I asked them what they recommend for my first time ever being here and they made me the meatloaf sandwich: the meat is juicy and tender on homemade toasted bread 😩😩 I'm definitely coming back here for a bite to eat!!

Delicious Mediterranean Turkey Sandwich with chips and a cookie. The friendly chef prepped our lunch and served us well! Thanks and we’ll come again soon!
